However, I was unhappy because of the way you treated me. This is a service business, which means you should provide your clients with a service that turns them into repeat customers. I booked a gloss, which meant I wanted exactly that. I've been to other salons and ALWAYS get a gloss because I don't want my hair permanently dyed. The cut or style is optional, but included. I understand that may not be true for your salon. However, $150 for a TRIM is ridiculous. Yes, I'm still shocked! Respect your clients and their wants because that's what they're paying for. I've had quite the hair journey. I went from virgin hair to ash brown to lavender blonde to ashy blonde to black blue to gray and then all black again. And then I became a mom during a pandemic and dealt with unkempt pandemic hair. Gone are the days where I can be adventurous with my hair since I'm juggling working from home and caring for a toddler. So when my friend told me about Nancy and I saw that her expertise is live-in cuts and color, I knew it was exactly what I needed as a new mom! My hair was getting super long and unmanageable so I was looking for a hair stylist that could give me a lived in haircut, an Anh Co Tran-esq masterpiece. My sister suggested Nancy because she has trained under Anh Co Tran so I signed up for her waitlist during SIP. I was contacted shortly after she opened her salon and made an appointment for November. I totally wouldn't have minded waiting that long but, thankfully she was able to squeeze me in yesterday. She took my temperature and sanitized in between clients. After I got in her chair we thoroughly discussed what I wanted. I showed her some pictures and she was very receptive. I feel like she really took the time to find out exactly how I pictured this haircut on myself. After agreeing on length, she got started. The shampoo was great! Loooved the head massage. My occipital region really needed it! No water splashing on my clothing or face at all. During the haircut I felt that she was careful and intentional in all of the cuts that she made. She really took her time which I appreciated. After the cut was done she put in product and explained what she used and how to use it. I'm clueless when it comes to hair product and don't use it as often as I should! Then she blow dried and styled my hair. Nancy and Sugar Plum Artistry are fantastic! A friend recommended Nancy to me over 2 years ago after she got a super great haircut here. I came here to cut off over 11 inches of hair to convert back to a modern lob, and Nancy nailed it. I struggle to create volume because I have thick, heavy, very dark brown hair which is mainly straight with a slight wave, so it tends to lay flat on the top and expand out at the bottom. I've historically had trouble finding stylists that just intuitively understand how to work with my hair, but she immediately knew how to help create volume through layering and removing weight. The salon itself is on a cute street with nearby street parking and some parking lots. It's so very clean inside with great lighting and plenty of space. The vibe is relaxing, comfortable, and they have great music playing. She's been booked up since re-opening post-lockdowns so I was glad I could nab a spot in November. She did a great job keeping customers updated on her schedule once the shop re-opened, and even personally texted when spots were available. If she doesn't respond right away, just be sure to stay patient because this is a small business that is very busy! read more

My husband and I decided to take a quick walk before I returned. Before getting into my haircut, I brought some inspo pics for Nancy. After searching for a new stylist I came across Nancy on yelp here at Bliss. I called and spoke to the receptionist and she said the stylists keep their own schedules. Parking can be difficult depending on the time of day. There is very few street parking spots and a couple of nearby lots. The salon is very cute, clean and nicely decorated. Nancy greeted me when I walked in and introduced herself. She was very friendly and warm from the start and throughout my visit. She sat me down and consulted with me. She listened, asked some questions and together we came up with a game plan. Keeping the length and adding more layers. After a nice relaxing shampoo and conditioning it was time to pull the scissors out. Usually I'm very nervous even scared with a new stylist. I have has some horrible experiences. I didn't see long pieces of hair following (that is my nightmare and past experience). We kept up a conversation till the end. She almost had to pull me out of her chair since I didn't want to leave. Nancy put my worries at ease. The hour and a half went by quickly. She was very detailed making sure that the layers were even and cross checked. For the shampoo, cut and blow dry the price was $60. Online the Bliss site says $45. which was what I thought it was going to be but Nancy said she charges $60. She did give a discount for being a new client so the total was $48. plus tip. $58. out the door. Each stylist charges differently make sure to ask for their price. Nancy is my new hair gal! Before coming to Bliss on B St., I took a gander at their reviews on Yelp and noticed that there weren't ANY male reviews. Despite having a flawless 5 Star Yelp average, I hesitated about venturing into something categorized as a "Hair Salon." I mean, can you say, "would you like a peddie with that?" After all, I pride myself as a macho kinda guy [deep cough, deep cough]. Robin bravely volunteered to work her skills as my hair stylist (I don't know what title to use, and I assume she doesn't want to be called a barber). It was clear to me from the very beginning of my visit, Robin was a complete professional. She immediately put me at ease and methodically worked her way through my thick, wire-y hair. Her easy-going, friendly demeanor made it relatively quick, painless, and quite frankly enjoyable experience. It's hard to argue with the results. I'm not generally one to toot my own horn, but damn... I thought I looked exceptionally good and so did a looot of women. Such a cozy gem of a salon to come to. It's really soothing and relaxing when you come here to get your hair done. All the girls that work here are really friendly. I come here to see Nancy Vu-Ha to get my hair done cause she's an amazeballs hairstylist, she used to work on A Street, atop the Sunflower 2 restaurant, but has since moved to this location. Service is great and all the ladies here are super friendly, it's a clean environment, they take pride in work well done. I've seen ladies, including myself walk outta this salon, a whole new person. Whether you are getting a cut, highlighting, colors, shampoo and blow-dry, it almost seems as if, it's a new woman walking outta the salon once these ladies are done working their magic on you. I recommended a friend to Nancy and was given $15 off my visit. Not sure if she still offers 20% off your first visit to her, but that definitely helped out a lot with the bill. Normally, I have Nancy give me a cut and put two colors in my hair and it's roughly about $175 with tip. That's not bad actually. If you can afford to get your hair done every six months, I suggest coming to Nancy for all your needs or maybe even another girl that works here.
