My first and only experience with spray tanning was a machine....eewwww...my feet were stained, and my toes looked like crap. What's the point if you can't wear sandals. Mind you this was a few years ago. I know what your thinking, visions of that Friends episode where Ross keeps getting the front of him spray tanned. That's how my feet looked after it all dripped down, what a mess. So I was a bit apprehensive as you could imagine. But my daughter is a "Bronzed" alumni and couldn't live without it. And since it's been freezing in NoCal where I'm from and we were here for her wedding, I threw caution to the wind and said "Okay, let's do it". She really didn't prepare me with what to expect, like bringing loose attire. Or that I wouldn't be able to take a shower for 12 sticky/odd smelling hours (she signed me up for the longer acting one). hmmmm. But hey these gals here spraying you are professionals and super friendly, and catch any drips! oh yeah and get all the spots you could never get with self tanner as you stand in the most unique poses. It's relatively quick and gives you immediate gratification. I probably could have used the special lotion to enhance your tan, it seemed to me on day two I felt a bit orange (but the wedding was at night and the lighting was dark so the light may have been fooling my eyeballs). It's now been a week and it's faded a bit, and my legs are a bit mottled (again I didn't have the enhancing lotion which would have probably prolonged my tan) But I have to say for not much care it's still hanging in there....not bad. Don't have "Bronzers" in the Bay, but maybe the next time I'm in LA-LA land I'll swing by and use my Yelp coupon! read more

Had my first Brazilian sugaring experience this week. So far I like the results. I have a pretty high pain tolerance, and I have to say it was pretty painful. I'm hoping the pain was worth it. Lol! A coworker told me about this place when I asked her about her always sun-kissed skin. I tried it and honestly have never felt more beautiful. They do a great job and you never come out looking orange, just perfectly bronzed. I've come back for numerous weddings and weekend getaways and I've never been disappointed. HIGHLY recommend to anyone who wants to feel like a bronzed goddess for a week!! I also come here for sugaring and it's as pleasant of an experience as ripping hair out can be :) Honestly though, most of the girls have been super quick, thorough, and sensitive to the pain as they possibly can be. It has been a few years since I last visited S&B on Montana and things have really changed for the better. In years past, my skin has not been happy with tanning sprays. If you're trying to get a little glow without the sunburn, this is definitely the place for it. The staff is friendly, knowledgable and great at making you comfortable. You'll need to be completely nude for this, so it's important to trust the ladies who are helping you out! Pro Tips: - Exfoliate 1-2 days before so any dry skin is scrubbed off in advance - Don't make any big plans for a few hours after this, because your skin will feel a bit strange and clammy until you can shower - Don't get anywhere near water until the technician says you can! This was the first time I used this location (i had used the Manhattan Beach location before). Appointment: was able to make it online; totally easy. Parking: Went around lunch time, so although there is street parking, had to park further away on a residential street. Its located upstairs and its a very clean establishment. Tan: I've tried different places over the years for spray tans (I use to do the Chocolate Sun) and found the quality of this tan is very good. It looks good and lasted longer than I expected. Also, I'm glad they can provide disposable caps, thongs, etc. and extender lotions for a price. Service: Very friendly and outgoing. If you are nervous, they will make you feel at ease. read more

I am a huge fan of the new Sugared+Bronzed location on Montana. I have been going to Sugared+Bronzed for sometime, but the new location has really revamped, looks clean, has space and is very much a sanitary space. They needed a much bigger location-- and this makes a huge difference. I have gone for the tanning service, they get me in and out of there in 10 minutes. All the girls are very well-educated and helpful with the process; they always answer my questions and "what ifs" that might be super silly. I came in a while ago to receive a bikini sugaring before going on a trip -- I opted for the bikini over the full Brazilian because I had never done anything like this before, and have had some down-there medical history in the past. The actual service went well, but when I went back out to the front desk to pay, the tech who had done the sugaring began making comments on my skin and started trying to sell me products that could "fix my issue". I still want to give her the benefit of the doubt and assume that she was genuinely trying to help, but I was really just taken aback and off-put that she felt comfortable speaking about my body in the lobby in front of other people. The actual service turned out well, but I ultimately left feeling uncomfortable and probably won't go back. if you have a less-than-picture-perfect-looking bikini area for whatever reason I would consider it before you get a sugaring here. read more

Sugar+Bronzed is the best hair removal/tanning salon I've ever been to. I switched over from waxing to sugaring 2 years ago because of them and they are so professional and sweet. The hair doesn't grow back for double the amount of time as waxing (for me) and it hurts me wayyyy less. Waxing has the opportunity to burn you and some people just don't know what they're doing. Sugaring however is so quick and painless (again for me) and even when I've done sessions with a trainee (there's a discounted trainee session email list you can join), I've been hurt less than with a waxing professional who has burned my skin. Love this place for tans- But half the girls working there decided its part of their policy to tip themself 15% on your behalf every appointmt in addition to the membership. Last time the short haired latina lady decided to give herself 20%! Im happy to tip & typically do anyways, but seems like the employees are getting a bit carried away with it- especially since they're tipping themselves. I did the math and each employee should be making well over $100 in tips/day with their policy, which is great but just can't afford $8 extra for every 10 minutes of their time! $8.50 on top of my monthly fee adds up to be about $30 a month!! might as well charge extra for the membership! I can't afford it. makes me wonder if the manager knows.. guess could say no, but it adds pressure because they are the one who just did your service! or could still tip just maybe mot as much. The girls are all nice and do a wonderful job but it feels pushy/entitled to tip yourself; tips are supposed to be extra not mandatory. Might be time to cancel my membership and take my business elsewhere.. :( read more
