Africa was amazing. I am sensitive and she was gracious, yet quick with providing full bikini. I wish I had noticed during time of service to remove more below. She would have done so, but either way my area looked beach-ready. Now being 3 days, there are no concerns since hair was growing back lightly from prior service in April. Truly does last 3 months, for me, which one of main reasons I love sugaring for my delicate skin and service is at a reasonable cost for consistent pampering. I usually get sugaring right before vacation, and after trying a few places, I finally found my go-to spot at Sugaring NYC. The environment is welcoming and comfortable, which is exactly what I was looking for. From the moment I walked in, the receptionist was super friendly and helped me check in quickly. The salon itself is spotless, and I appreciated that. After a short wait, my sugarista came out and immediately made me feel at ease. Unfortunately, I don't remember her name, but she was fantastic--explained every step of the process and kept a light conversation going, which really helped distract me from any discomfort. To be honest, it barely hurt, thanks to the small talk! I was thinking about sugaring a few other areas, but she gave me honest advice and suggested against it since I didn't have much hair to begin with. Their online booking system incorrectly booked me to the wrong date and I had not been aware until receiving text messages that this would be a no show and they charged me a no show fee. Natalia at sugaring upper east side truly blessed this sugaring/waxing newbie. For a second after my appointment I was walking funny and I was like, oh no what have I done, but the feeling subsided after about 10 minutes. She didn't miss a single hair, was super conscious about my comfort/minimizing the pain, and distracted me on the sensitive bits that needed distracting from! It was my first experience with any sort of hair removal after doing laser 5 years ago and only a few of the areas hurt at all. The leg portion was honestly relaxing lol so unless you're doing a Brazilian I can say the pain is minimal. Our sensitive bits are our sensitive for a reason, but even that was over before I knew it! I've had mostly good experiences at this location, however, my most recent experience makes me question whether I'll be taking my business elsewhere. I was "help" by Renee. I was running a few minutes late and got to my appointment at exactly 10 minutes grace time. The door was locked. After giving it a moment someone opened it. I was told that she already canceled my appointment and will be charging me. This means that it was definitely cancelled within the 10 minute grace period. She was rude and very unwilling to help and insisted that bc I was there at the 10 min mark (even tho the door was locked & I could not get in) she marked me as a no show and will charge me. Her tone and attitude was appalling and finally another sugarista helped me. Sugaring NYC should look into who they hire to work with customers. I have visiting this location once before and had a very positive experience. As such, I booked a new appointment--more than two weeks in advance--to return this coming Monday. I received an email today telling me my appointment was cancelled. I called to see what had happened and was told my aesthetician would not be working. I was confused as I had not requested any specific person. The explanation I was provided made no sense, and I was told I could rebook for either in the middle of the day, or 8pm--neither practical times. Just went to this location for the first time. Elena was great-very kind and was able to really minimize the pain.

Facility was clean and beautiful, staff was friendly. Technician was knowledgeable and kind. However, this procedure is extremely painful if you have coarse hair. I didn't deduct stars because its no ones fault that I didn't google to find out what this was. I presumed it worked like waxing, where it would be yanked off promptly. I was grossly unprepared to have a ball of sugar rolled around pulling at my hair. I had my underarms done and it was the worst feeling, and left behind a lot more hair than waxing. Unfortunately the procedure isn't for me so I won't be returning, but if you're a fan this would be the place to get it done. read more

I'm either always waiting even with an appointment or my appointment is getting cancelled. I've called customer multiple times and no answer. I had the most horrible experience yesterday after coming to this place to get my wax for 4 years the receptionist was soo ghetto did even know i was sitting right there and was talking about how much I should be tipping after I already tipped $15 she wanted me to tip 6 more dollars because she didn't have change to give me I had to send my husband out to do their job and get changed every time I come here is a different receptionist but this one was by far the most rude one. I don't think I'll be coming to this location anymore. Terrible service, I've been a loyal costumer to this spot for years and I always see new people but I've never had an issue with them. But now i don't know who they have hiring but they are hiring people with no customer service or social skills just incredibly rude. I came in late because I was driving during a storm,therefore traffic started pilling up and finding parking was another issue,making me 15 minutes late, previous policy was 15 to 20 minutes which I thought was still present. As I showed up Renee one of the waxers was at the reception desk greeted me very rudely and said I couldn't get a refund and didn't know if I could be seen today, I was trying to explain to her what made me late and that I saw on the website various availability for the day. She continued to be rude and saying she couldn't see me for the day,mind you I never asked for her to see me and then she was away to as the real receptionist came and was able to call her manager to ask her for refund on the money, which she said would be taken for the payment for today overall appointment. I stated I was okay with waiting for Aliyah to get back from her break as of course we all deserve our break and I was willing to wait till she came back. The receptionist was kind enough to ask for Aliyah if she could take me before her break, but of course she said no as Renee loudly was telling Aliyah in the back before she was asked how rude I was and had an attitude. Extremely unprofessional of Renee. Aliyah of course had an attitude with me after her coworker began problems and I didn't want to be seen by her after feeling attacked and left with no refund for a fake no show as I did in fact show up but was attacked by ridiculous staff. I used to love this place. I can't get regular waxing because my skin is too sensitive. I just moved back to the area and I had an appointment scheduled and last minute they canceled on me with no alternate solutions and said there was only one person working that day. So fine. Rescheduled for a day after work, 7 pm. Day of the new appointment, ANOTHER text saying the appointment has yet again been canceled because only one girl is working and she had a family emergency. I'm sorry she had an emergency but only one person working and constantly canceling on loyal clients? Service was MUCH better in Astoria. I'm so disappointed. I don't know where else to go and I'm honestly at my wits ends. Now I have a third appointment rescheduled and the woman on the phone seemed very inexperienced and rude. Did not offer any solutions at all. So I now have my third scheduled/rescheduled appointment coming up Friday after work. I am the biggest baby when it comes to pain! I have had Brazilian waxes before and I would always dread going. I did it because I have corse hair - and it's everywhere! I thought I would give sugaring a try. I watched many YouTube videos on it and it seemed to be a good alternative to waxing. Today when I walked in for my appointment I was promptly greeted! The place is clean and cute! When I entered the room, it was pristine clean! Julia was amazing! She talked to me the entire time and the whole thing took maybe 15 minutes. I came back to Sugaring NYC early this year to get my Brazilian 'sugared' off. I used to go to the FiDi location since it was closer to my job but stopped going in March of last year due to the pandemic. Once I felt COVID was more manageable, and vaccines were being distributed, I felt comfortable going back to sugaring. I was excited to see they opened a location on the Upper East Side! It is close to me since I live in the Bronx and I was working from home. Now that I am back to commuting to work every day and work at a different location, the UES shop is my permanent spot now. Today was my third visit, but the second time with Amy. She is fantastic and professional! She makes me feel very comfortable and makes my experience enjoyable as well. I was able to walk-in and get my underarms waxed. Great service (as always) and love the location being close to where I live. Always a satisfied visit Too bad 25 days ago I felt this way--I had to change this rating because I went to an esthetician and received an abscess the size of a golf ball under my arm. Had to go to the ER to get it drained and now I'm on antibiotics for a week. This location is my issue, and honestly I shouldn't have gone to someone who doesn't know how to treat my body. Love this place! It's my go to when I need a sugaring appointment. The staff is always so kind and welcoming. My sugarista ended up being Renee who I've had several times. She is always so easy to talk to and easies any type of anxiety I have about the appointment. I've been sugaring for 6+ years now and Renee is the only individual I have met who truly loves her job. It makes all the difference as a customer. I can't say enough good things about her! If you are new to sugaring she is a great option for the service. She makes the entire experience enjoyable which I didn't know was possible in this setting. The rest of the staff has been wonderful as well. I went recently and was going to be ten minutes late for my appointment. I called the office and apologized because I know their cancellation policy. I asked if I could move my appointment to a different time with the hope that I could still get in. They immediately helped me and were more than accommodating. The customer service is outstanding! They claim to give you a 10 min grace period and it's a lie they cancel your appointment if the service is considered "short" at 5 mins which is completely against what the email and website states. The schedule is never accurate poor customer service and lack of consideration. They are basically located in a busy area with little to no parking. So I really did not want to give this place a 1 star.. Because the person who waxed me was a very nice lady, I don't even want to say her name to blow her spot and what she caused my labia. So at first everything was going fine with the waxing, till she got to the lips and started to wax.. It seems that my lips according to her are too sensitive.. so she begins waxing my lips till the sugar wax caught my labia and pulled off a good SLICE of it she said that it appears my skin is too sensitive.. And said sorry and to put Bacitracin an antibiotic.. The pain was crazy and can't even walk properly for a week.. I can't believe that happened to me!! Everything was going relatively well until I went to look at my brows and noticed there was a spot of hair left which still needed to be removed. Problem is, the second I got up to look the tech had left and the receptionist refused to have her come back because "She's on break." And the receptionist said, "We don't shape, just clean up" which the tech had said as well but this was a clean up issue so that was said as an excuse. I was given a few dollars off but I would have much preferred to pay full price and have the full job done.
