Chicken Satay came after entrees were served, and beyond surprise, they got us bite size pan seared chicken, which lacked flavors and seasonings. Worst satay we have ever had. All these years, all the thai places serve chicken satay on skewers and with tasty peanut sauce. To our dismay, this chicken satay was pan seared with no taste whatsoever. Our entrees were their specialty basil fried rice and red, green curry. They were ok. But chicken was like boiled chicken just thrown in precooked curries. Lacked the flavors again! The Baht has a great location overlooking the creek, and the customer service was friendly throughout our visit. I was really craving Asian food, but there aren't many options in the Gatlinburg area, so we were excited to try it. Unfortunately, the food fell short. The kids' egg fried rice was actually the standout dish that everyone at the table enjoyed. We also ordered the drunken noodles, Pad Thai, crispy duck, and Panang curry. At around $30 per entrée, we expected much more flavor. Most dishes were either bland or overly oily, and nothing really stood out. The biggest surprise was the price. Our bill for six people here ended up being more expensive than some of the excellent restaurants we visited in Pigeon Forge with a group of ten. I just read another review that 18% gratuity is automatically added , on top of gratuity we may have given them. I didn't save the receipt.. We had an excellent meal at The Baht and I honestly don't understand how anyone could walk away disappointed. We started with the crispy tofu and the spicy pork balls, and both were fantastic. The tofu had great texture and real flavor, not an afterthought, and the pork balls had genuine heat and depth without being over the top. My husband ordered the Tom Kri soup with shrimp and it was, hands down, the best dish of lunch. Creamy coconut broth with mushrooms and pickled onions, deeply flavorful and perfectly balanced. I would come back just for that soup alone. For entrées, my daughter had the pad Thai, I had the Khao Soi, and my husband ordered the duck basil. All three were excellent. Bold, authentic flavors and generous portions. I saw a review claiming the portions are small and that could not be further from the truth. Portions are large. We took home leftovers. The server later explained that the rice cooker was broken, but even after three hours in this restaurant, they couldn't resolve it. When the rice did eventually show up, it was still short by a bowl. On top of that, the servers were nowhere to be found most of the time. To make things worse, the food was overpriced and the portions were very small. When we questioned the automatic 18% gratuity that was added without notice--on top of being asked again to leave a tip at checkout--the owner mocked the way we spoke, saying "blah blah blah" while imitating us, and told us "don't be cheap." We love Thai food, and having lived in the Seattle area for a long time, have eaten our fair of excellent Thai food. This was amongst the worst I've had. I was suspicious as soon as we walked in regarding the quality and standards we might experience so we wisely shared one dish-Panang curry with beef. My husband also got a Singha beer. My husband-who will eat what I consider the cheapest of beef and love it- would not eat the beef in this dish. He said it had a strange taste and texture. I agreed that it was unusual and steered clear as well. Be careful, they add 18% gratuity to your bill, then ask for a tip when they give you their device. Even without an additional tip, we walked out of there having spent $38 on a meal we could barely gag down, and one beer. Skip it! read more

Ordered a shrimp pad Thai which is good as well however their pad Thai aren't consistently flavored. We had an overall nice dinner here. The restaurant has a great location right by the water. Our food came quickly after ordering. However, I did find the portions to be on the smaller compared to their price point. The dishes I enjoyed the most were their pad Thai and pad kee mao- we ordered both with shrimp, which they cooked perfectly. The most disappointing dish was their basil duck- the duck tasted quite dry and the entire dish was extremely salty. Even with the side of white rice it was overwhelmingly salty. We ordered an extra side of white rice and that was $5. The khao man Kai was quite good in terms of flavor, but it is very gingery and I thought the chicken itself was just ok. I would stick to ordering their fried rice or noodle dishes. Our servers were friendly and we got a kick out of their robot servers. I do recommend bringing a light jacket because they have their AC on full blast so it does feel chilly inside the restaurant. read more

We were skeptical about coming after reading a different review on Yelp that suggested the food wasn't authentic. Now that I've been, I have to say it tasted authentic to me, at least based on the food my table had. Crab fried rice was delicious. They gave generous portions of meat in all of the meat dishes. The crispy duck was actually crispy. The food was well seasoned and not too salty. I think they actually do make their Thai tea because my tea was in 2 layers when it was brought out (tea at the bottom and milk at the top) and I mixed it myself. Though the restaurant was busy, the servers did their best to attend to you and came back to refill waters. The place was clean. Sufficient parking. Unfortunately, we didn't try the tum yum, which is honestly the bar I judge every Thai restaurant by (I want to taste that galangal and kaffir leaf), next time. Took pictures after we chowed down this time. I do need to warn that their medium spicy level is actually spicy, which I enjoyed, but others may not. I do highly recommend if you are in the area and craving Thai. ----------- Update: went back and tried the Tom Yum. It was good, but was missing the "kick" and depth of sour flavor I prefer. I was not thrilled with the mandatory 18% gratuity and then they ask for additional gratuity with another 20% defaulted in on top (which would've been 40% gratuity if I wasn't paying attention). Other than that, i would say it was a little too sweet and too thin (watery, instead of thick and creamy). But not bad. On the spiciness level, I asked for three stars (out of five), and I'd say it was slightly less spicy than I expected. We went here on Valentines because we had been hiking all day and just wanted to do takeout without all the crazy Valentines Day crowds. This was a delicious meal. The people are very nice. Service is excellent and portions are huge. They charge 18% gratuity to all orders on the top. So I wish the portions were a bit smaller and prices little lower and they should let people tip instead of mandatory gratuity, their ratings would go up higher. read more

I've spent 4 months in the last year and a half in Thailand because my fiancé lives there and for a brief moment I felt like I was back while eating here. The staff is so kind and friendly too. Aside from being in a major city (because I haven't tried enough Thai food in major cities to be certain) I'm convinced this is truly as close to authentic as the meals get. In terms of the area it is a bit more expensive compared to other Thai restaurants but I feel like that partially because it is in gatlinburg (not Sevierville or pigeon forge), the location in gatlinburg, and the focus on authentic. The tom kha soup was outstanding! The view is really calm and outdoorsy by the river too. I recommend I hardly ever do reviews but I'm selfishly spreading the word so hopefully they never go out of business so I can keep eating here for years to come (not that my opinion would ever hold that much power lol) The only possible change I would like to see is pad kra pao on the menu but I have yet to find this anywhere in East Tennessee read more

I'm very glad we didn't dine in now that I've read reviews about the automatic 18% gratuity regardless of party size. Seems like the restaurant inflates its Google reviews by offering free dessert, etc. The second time we did pickup they missed one dish in our order and we called to notify them. (They also got the proteins wrong on two dishes but we didn't bother notifying them) They said it would take 10 minutes so we drove back from home to the restaurant. We were then waiting at the restaurant for 30 more minutes. In total from initial order to having our complete order took 1.5 hours.
