Specific Timing - Lunch at The Lost Kitchen (Tuesday, August 26, 2026)…read more Many have asked about how the "no reservations" walk-in lunches work at "The Little Lost Kitchen". So here's our recent experience, down to the minute! (Click on individual photos below for more details). We arrived at the parking lot at about 10:30AM on Tuesday August 26. I counted 30 folks on line ahead of us at 10:35. The first was positioned at the foot of the bridge on the parking lot side. At 11:00AM, I turned around and counted 50 folks behind us! An employee came out and started walking down the line, taking names and party sizes. At 11:10, they sent the "first wave" of 25 people over bridge. They explained they don't want folks waiting on the middle of the bridge, so they only send over as many as they can easily handle in the Ordering area. At 11:25, they sent over a "second wave" including my party. I got to the Ordering Counter and placed my order at 11:45AM. The food started coming out to our table shortly after. Salad right away, soup next, then the fried chicken basket. We finished our lunch right around 12:45, and as we went back across the bridge, I counted about 25 folks on line. So there were actually much fewer people at 12:45 then at 10:45. (Of course, all the dining tables were full, so people were likely being seated much slower that during the initial big opening). The entire experience and food was terrific as many others have posted! The stated "Open Hours" are Tuesday to Saturday, 11:00 to 2:30. I asked if they really went to 2:30PM, and a staffer said yes, but you probably would not want to show up too much later than say 1:30 to avoid being rushed or finding some items sold out. Someone else posted in this group that staffers have said 1 to 1:30 is a very good time to show up. As for dates, I've heard lunch service will run into October, but I don't know a specific date and that's been addressed in other posts (a search in this group for "October" will likely do the trick). We tried an assortment of flavors, and one in particular, really surprised us with how good it was.... and it had a surprise. It was a white chocolate chip cookie with a creamy burst of pistachio yumminess on the inside. Great flavor combo. We also tried a chocolate cookie with peanut butter chips, chocolate chip cookie, and a chocolate chip with fresh blueberries. All their cookies are HUGE, big enough for splitting between 2, and they stay fresh for days (surprisingly). It helped that we put them in ziploc bags while traveling. I got the Chocolate Chip Cookie Royale, which really hit the sweet-salty spot with a warm choc chip cookie, salty sweet cream ice cream, salted caramel, sesame brittle, and tahini whipped cream. Every single flavor that we tried...... and we had a really difficult time deciding which flavors to try of their 60 +/- flavors AT ALL TIMES. Every piece was fresh, perfectly made cheesecake, and every flavor was well represented. Being in Maine, we HAD to try blueberry cheesecake. We also tried strawberry, lemon blueberry, cannoli, apple crisp, and s'mores. Sad to say, we never finished them, but we tried them all, and they lasted a good long while. All were perfect and delicious. Now, for their business model. Imagine a business open 24/7... the doors are always open, and NOBODY is working in the storefront with the exception of people (the owners, I'm assuming) loading in more cheesecake flavors when they run out. The business is run COMPLETELY on the honor system. If memory serves, there are 3 ways to pay, but I only recall with specificity the Venmo way to pay cuz that's what I used. I think they accepted checks and one more way to pay, but I don't really recall. Let me be clear, though... it is up to each individual to be on their honor system and pay for what they want to take. Where else on this earth do you know of any retail type shop where people are left to their honor to pay for goods? I have never heard of nor seen any such thing like this before. I could have just as easily walked right out with my cheesecake slices and not paid for any of them. Nobody would have known. They don't check. They don't ask. I'm so impressed by this business model and the fact that it works !!!! I witnessed it. Everyone was paying. It truly is a testament about faith and trust, and it still works. This is just brilliant. Momo's also sells gargantuan pieces of carrot cake, which we did not try, as well as whoopie pies, which we also didn't try. If they sell other items besides the above, I just didn't see them, but I think they have quite enough already. Sixty + flavors of cheesecake alone should keep people happy. The only downside to Momo's is that we live nowhere near it, but I'm truly glad for the experience we had.

When I asked about whether they carried more than one type of root beer, we got into a great conversation about our love of root beer. He had a few other root beers that a company was trying to push on him and he offered a few for me to try at a later time. While we talked he prepared my Eil's root beer float with locally made vanilla ice cream. He handed me my large cup and the bottle of the remaining root beer. The cup had a clear cover that he had taped down on the sides to keep it extra secure. There was both a spoon and straw for my consuming preferences too. Maybe it was that it was made with Eli's which is one of my favorites or that it was made with local ice cream.....or maybe both, any which way, it was one of the best root beer floats that I have had. I did not partake, but I believe they also serve ice cream from a pick-up window on the outside of the store where there is also a nice seating area. It's in a really cute part of a mainly residential town so walking around the area eating your new penny candy is a great way to explore.
