I absolutely love hand rolls, and every single bite here was amazing! I stopped by right after the World Cup match, so a lot of fish options were already sold out, but everything we had was still incredible. We sat at the bar, and the chef rotated making orders for everyone. The pacing was perfect just as you finished one roll, the next one was ready! The staff were pretty good too. If I ever have the chance to visit Seattle again, I will definitely be back!"

Located in the heart of downtown (just steps away from Pike Place market), we came here for lunch on a weekday (and ended up catching some of the happy hour). The place is a casual dining with high top tables and 1-2 people assembling the hand rolls. We tried a small variety of handrolls. I was very disappointed as I was looking forward to a splurge with the uni, but they were out of it when we came (not sure if day of the week matters, but it was a Tuesday). We tried various rolls including king salmon, tempura shrimp, ikura, akami, hokkaido scallop. I would say that this place can get pretty pricey if you're coming hungry, but we had eaten already a few hours prior so this was more of a late afternoon snack so we were satisfied (with 4 rolls per person). Everything was really fresh and tasty. The filling for the king salmon and ikura was plentiful. I did not expect the hokkaido scallop to actually be mostly cooked (torched with mushrooms), but it was a unique savory texture. There was only one unisex bathroom for the entire area, which was a little inconvenient but otherwise, a fun fast place to go to.

Overall: 5 stars Came for the caviar because it only costs $15 to top a handroll with an abundance? That is an easy steal to celebrate any sized win! But clearly the deal was too good because they were all out! Compared to other hand roll bars, I like Sugo much more because they serve the rolls open faced, so you can clearly see the quality of everything you're eating, and it looks really nice. Further, these are full size handrolls compared where the ratio of fish dominated the seaweed and rice so that is the primary mouth feel. King Salmon - We topped up with ikura since caviar wasn't available, and the portion size was generous; the ikura adds a delicious salinity and texture profile to balance the naturally sweet salmon. Fresh wasabi gives this piece such a nice bright freshness. Ebi Nuoc Mam - Smaller shrimp seasoned with that classic Vietnamese palette of savory fish sauce that can give the shellfish flavor to hold its own. Tempura Shrimp - This roll gives a classic tempura shrimp roll with all the fix ins from spicy mayo to a sweeter saline glaze. The cucumber adds freshness and the piece eats very well with a balanced serving of rice. Spicy Tuna - Classic spicy tuna handroll with the added pairing of the sweet pickled radish, which gives a bright sweetness to contrast the bold spice coming from the tuna mixture. Kanpachi - Another piece that works brilliantly with ikura; we have that firm white fish powered by the lime, and the saline forward nature of the salmon roe really helps to add another dimension to the amberjack. Torched Eel - Very generous cut of eel that will be sure to satisfy for the final rolls I like the added toppings of cucumber and optional wasabi, which help alleviate some of the richness of that seasoned eel. Located across from Pike Place, Sugo Hand Roll Bar has very decent handrolls with fresh tasting fish. You can tell it's not frozen and very much worth your money. We ordered some Sapporo to start off our meal. Originally, I asked for their four piece Handroll, but they said I couldn't have it; I have a shellfish allergy and they wouldn't have substituted two of the rolls that had shrimp for salmon handrolls. In the end, I only ordered three handroll: two salmon and one yellowtail. Their fish is tasty and their handrolls are crunchy and fresh. The yellowtail had some citrus on it, but it was not too overwhelming. Their salmon's was perfect and topped off with sesame seeds. The service was okay and the place itself was a bit vacant. It's understandable since they just finished their happy hour. I would say it's not too bad for a place located next to a touristy spot.

Sugo is one of those restaurants that turns dinner into an experience. The restaurant itself is bright, welcoming, and beautifully designed, with large windows overlooking a charming courtyard along the edge of Pike Place Market. The atmosphere strikes a wonderful balance between upscale and comfortable, making it equally suitable for a special occasion or a relaxed evening out. From the moment we arrived, everyone was genuinely friendly, welcoming, and eager to make sure we had a great experience. I've been fortunate to enjoy several omakase meals over the years, and while many simply let the chef choose your sushi, Sugo takes the concept to another level. Every course is thoughtfully orchestrated, with each piece expertly prepared and presented right in front of you. Watching the chefs work is part of what makes the evening so memorable. The seafood was incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and every course reflected genuine craftsmanship and attention to detail. It was clear that the chefs take great pride in what they create. The service was equally impressive. Everyone was attentive, knowledgeable, and happy to explain the dishes and answer questions without ever making the experience feel rushed. The cocktails were excellent and complemented the meal perfectly. One of the biggest surprises was Happy Hour. If you're looking for exceptional hand rolls and high-quality Japanese cuisine at a very reasonable price, Sugo offers one of the best values I've found in Seattle. Whether you're new to omakase or already a fan, Sugo is a restaurant I'd enthusiastically recommend. Outstanding food, exceptional service, a beautiful atmosphere, and a dining experience that I'll definitely be returning to.

Great for a quick and quality lunch. We dined in at 11:30am and were seated right away. Staff is really friendly and energetic. If you ever want to feel like you're in Japan, this is the place. Visiting from Hawaii, this place is top tier. We got the Otoro, soft shell crab, A5 waygu, crispy shrimp, spicy tuna, ebi nuoc mam. It's hard to rank them bc everything was a 10/10 chefs kiss! This was the perfect first meal in Seattle !

This was a very cute date night idea! Intimate setting, with you and maybe 15 people and the 1 or 2 sushi chefs. Went for their HH and I feel like it was a good deal. Fish tasted fresh and of quality. It's right by the waterfront too so its a fun date too walk around and get icecream afterwards.

Great concept and lay out of a sushi bar specializing in hand rolls. The restaurant is split into 2 rooms, each with a U-shaped bar. The menu has a wide selection of hand rolls, ranging from a vegetarian rolls to decadent uni rolls. We tried a few - salmon, spicy tuna, and unagi. The salmon was good but nothing wowed us. The spicy tuna, however, was very good, especially with the addition of takuan. The unagi was also very good. In all of the rolls, the quality of the rice and nori were both good. There were just a couple minor things that caught our attention. First, with the sake sampler, there was no explanation or labeling of what we were drinking. Also, while the bar was very minimalist and clean, the rest of the restaurant was a bit of a mess. But going back to the food, the rolls were solid, there is also some non-roll items on the menu that looked good, and the HH pricing is great, so we will be back!

I first came here May of 2023 - a few months after they officially opened. The anticipation of getting to come here was everything I'd hoped it would be, and more. The experience in may of 2023 stuck with me for so long that, 3 years later when I officially moved to the area this was my celebratory "welcome to washington" meal. The sushi is delicious, the freshness is unmatched, the flavors are so rich and this is hands down in my top 3 of favorite edamame executions (and i'm an edamame snob) My husband and I are eagerly awaiting going back for their thursday night omakase experience The setting is intimate yet inclusive and the wait staff are quick and efficient.

Ordered the 6 hand roll set (Ora King Salmon® Ebi Nuoc Mam, Spicy Tuna®, Kampachi®, Crispy, Shrimp, Torched Unagi), Otoro signature hand roll, karaage chicken, miso soup, and desserts (cream brûlée and some ice cream with toasted rice. The handrolls tasted fresh. There was a little wait for seating but service was not bad. You eat around the hand roll bar and can watch the chefs make your hand roll. It's date night friendly.

Just had the most delicious dinner at Sugo! We had the 5 Roll Set, sugo spicy tuna, torched eel, Ikura, kampachi, madai, scallop (pictured), soft shell crab (pictured), and crispy tofu, and couldn't possibly pick a favorite! I had the yuzu spritz which was delicious and also served as a nice palate refresher between rolls. The chef at the sushi counter was so incredibly kind and willing to answer any questions we had (like how much rice do you go through a day?). We split the 5 Roll Set and he paced it thoughtfully with that in mind. It was the perfect dinner for a summer night! As we walked out the door, we were already talking about coming back.

Food: This was a very unique location for us to try. We love sushi and this was the first tine we have tried a hand-roll bar as its not very common in San Diego. Everything we ordered tasted phenomenal. From the spicy tuna to the softshell crab. ALL of it was delicious. If we had time to go back a 2nd time before we left, I would have def gone again. I also had a couple of drinks which were also quite tasty. Only thing I would say is that at it did take time for each of our orders to finish but I believe this was due to inly having 1 sushi chef and a handful of customers Service: I would say this would be that service was good but slow. It did take some time to receive our orders and it also took time to receive the check. Ambiance: Its a nice communal type of ambiance. Its def a louder type of restaurant as you are all seated around the sushi chefs, exactly like a bar (hence the name). We loved the vibe and the folks eating there all seemed to be enjoying the food and ambiance as well. Overall: I would rate this establishment a 4 to 4.5.

I came to Sugo for happy hour on a Wednesday and was super excited and had a high expectations because my girlfriends from Seattle really hyped it up. We really loved the food and thought the hand rolls and fish were really high-quality, but had a bad experience with the service. From the beginning, we felt like our waiter wasn't super friendly. When my friend asked if the waiter could make one of the drinks into a mocktail, he responded he didn't know how to make it into a mocktail and made her feel weird when she asked for hojicha tea instead. The whole dinner I felt like he wasn't happy with us... he never smiled or gave us a friendly demeanor, and after debriefing with my friends they felt the same way. I felt like the only time I saw him smile was after we signed the check and gave him a 20%+ tip. Despite the fish and food being super good, I can't say I'd go back due to the poor experience with service.

Fortunately I was in the SLU/South Queen Anne area, but I can totally seeing it being really difficult to find parking when it gets really busy during peak hours. The only parking options nearby are streetside parking with some paid lots - would recommend public transportation to get here to try the place out. Service was fast - this could also be attributed to going on a weekday, we were able to receive our food in about 8 - 10 minutes after ordering. Ambiance is cozy, feels like a casual dine in with lots of natural lighting and the decoration is charming. We got two items, which I'll review down below: Granny's Pork Belly Baos ($8): A tasty bun! The pork was tender and was nicely complemented by the slightly tart apples and floral plum sauce. The buns were light and fluffy and the green onion and cilantro provided a fresh herb taste. I think that $4 per bun is pretty standard price wise for two buns of this quality, and they service a pleasant appetizer. Village Bowl ($16): The Village Bowl is a vermicelli bowl that has all of the fixings - serves as a nice sampler into the types of meats that the restaurant has to offer. It was delicious! The meats were not too heavily salted, flavored well, and were cooked nicely. Portion-wise is decent and would maybe fill most people up. I think that maybe a little larger was would be perfect as I still left a little bit hungry after this bowl and an appetizer. I would say that Meekong Bar is pretty solid if you are looking for Vietnamese food in the SLU/upper belltown area. I think the thing that Meekong Bar has going for it is mostly the price, as other Vietnamese restaurants in the area charge much more ($4 - $6 more) for the same dishes. I would definitely come back to try the other options that this restaurant has to offer.

I will say the photographer created a bit of an uncomfortable experience as she came off a bit pushy and did not explain what the photos were for. She ended up coming back and wanting us to pose differently and retake them. We politely told her we weren't interested and she proceeded to come by and show us a printed photo of ours to sell. When we said no thanks, she continued to press and tell us to just take a photo of the photo with our phone lol. Besides the photographer, the food was pretty good. I ordered a khao soi, and it was my first time trying the dish. I am not sure I would come back, but it was a nice dining experience besides the photographer and the food was good.

In fact, the interior is so unique that you wouldn't immediately guess it's an Asian restaurant. The staff were friendly, though service was a bit inattentive; I found myself waiting longer than expected for basic things. Interestingly, when I ordered noodles and asked for chopsticks, they told me they didn't have any. It was quite a surprise to find an Asian restaurant serving noodles without chopsticks. As for the food, it was fine, but nothing memorable for the price. I've had better Asian food elsewhere in Seattle for less. If you're after a stylish, brunch-aesthetic spot to try Asian-inspired dishes, Di Fiora fits the bill. But if you're going purely for the flavors, you may leave underwhelmed.
