Riverfront Travel Apartments was an excellent concept that we had never experienced before. We've…read morestayed in hotels and we've stayed in houses using Air B&B and Verbo. RPTA is sort of both combined. A cool old brick building in downtown that has been completely refurbished. We loved our apartment. The view sucked, but other than that it was fantastic. A full one-bedroom apartment. Complete with a full kitchen including a dishwasher. A little dining area and a really comfy living space. A TV in both the living room and the bedroom. Laundry in the apartment was great! Cooking vessels, coffee maker, toaster, plates, utensils all provided. The full-size fridge had an ice maker. Two loads of detergent were provided for laundry, three for the dishwasher. The couch was a hide-a-bed should it be needed. The bed in the bedroom was very comfortable. The décor in the apartment was great. Really nice watercolors of different landmarks of Spokane. We had the big Red Flyer wagon in our living room. There was no staff on site. Everything was done over the phone, but they all were all super friendly, professional and polite. We were granted early check-in which was a huge help and relief to us. To access your apartment you are given a code to open the front door to the lobby. Punch in the code again to get the elevator to move. Then a different code gets you into your room. The location is stellar. Downtown within walking distance of Riverfront Park, River Park Square mall, all sorts of great dining and drinking spots. The convention center is literally across the street. Pricing was good. It was cheaper than name brand hotels in the downtown area, but more expensiver than "budget" hotels. Only a few cons: *We stayed three mornings, but only were given two mornings worth of coffee. *No amenities. No pool, Jacuzzi, gym, etc. (But no "resort" fee either!) *No parking - did not affect us, but it might you. *Our view - Unit 304. Looked into the alley and staring directly into a very tall building. No natural light could get in. Had to keep the blinds closed the entire time. *The white noise machine was missing from our apartment. We didn't need it, but I did call so they would not think we stole it. We flew in from San Diego and did not rent a car. We were in Spokane from Thursday night to Tuesday morning. We spent a total of $79.88 on Uber rides. My brother who flew in from Wichita spent $140 PER DAY on a rental car. If you have the flexibility to not rent a car as we did, I highly recommend it. Would most definitely stay at Riverfront Travel Apartments in the future.

LOTS of road noise (especially at night, with cars street racing), very loud compressor used by offices across the alley, another loud compressor used across the street, intermittent trucks that do some kind of loud loading in the alley. Thin walls/doors. Lousy pillows (so bad that I had to buy one). Very slow coffee maker that automatically turns off after brewing, so you have to keep turning it back on to keep the burner hot.

The online pic of the pool was deceiving. The pool is a block away not on site. The noise from the street was loud. In the contract we signed it never said we would have to do wash our own sheets and strip the bed. We were there for 3 nights. We also were asking to empty the garbage cans. For the price we could have stayed in a nicer place and not had to do all the extra work and not had a smelly room. There was not a manager on site you could reach them by phone. There was a note in the kitchen that said that if you are a good guest, you will write a good review. Very arrogant statement. I am a good guest it seemed very demanding. I do not need to prove I am a good guest. I will never say there again or recommend this place. I did notice the manager from turning leaf does answers concerns and also scolds customers for making negative comments. If you don't correct the problems, you are not good at your position. The townhouse we were in needed a deep clean. We never complained about the accommodations because I saw he doesn't respect his customers. It was too late to change our accommodations and everything was book up in town. Needs new management.

They have a covered parking area down the ramp that connects directly to the elevator, which made unloading luggage simple, and there's also an uncovered upper lot if you prefer that. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom was surprisingly spacious. Unfortunately the road noise was audible and one of us didn't sleep well. They offer free breakfast across the street at Rosie's Diner, which was a nice perk. Overall, it was a great experience and I'd definitely stay here again.

Roll into that and you're going to have a hard time rolling out of it. That said, if train noises bother you, you will not want to stay here. We were on the 3rd floor and the train runs on the same level across the parking lot. I like city noises when I sleep, so I found it comforting. But if train noises bother you, you won't enjoy it despite the ear plugs they provide. I appreciated the room size, the water pressure and the mini refrigerator/freezer and microwave in the room. The wifi worked perfectly well. The continental breakfast included microwavable biscuits with sausage and egg and multiple yogurts all of which I found acceptable. The parking lot was lit and in eyesight of our room. It was easy walking distance to the River Park area as well as many other restaurants. I felt perfectly safe there. I would have no issues staying here the next time we are in Spokane.

4 of us spent 4 nights at Maple Leaf Suites Unit 1, in the middle of April based upon website…read moredescription and location relative to the Podium sports arena. I offer the following comments for those considering this property: PROS: 1. The place was very clean! 2. Bathroom towels and bedroom linens were adequate. 3. Shower has good pressure and water was hot! 4. Yard was well fenced so pet(s) can't escape CONS IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER: 1. Location was on an extremely busy street in an older neighborhood that didn't feel particularly safe. It appeared there was some sort of half-way house across the street (methadone clinic?) that had a steady stream of interesting characters going in and out. The neighborhood was not conducive to going out and walking the dog.. 2. Poorly appointed kitchen. Very limited on pots and pans for cooking. There were 4 of us, so we had 4 each of plates, bowls, forks, spoons, table knives. Glassware consisted of 2 wine glasses and 4 beer glasses. Really? 3. Kitchen countertop vinyl was coming up and the trim strip was hanging loose which begged to be torn off, but we didn't dare as we feared being blamed for the damage. 4. No outdoor grill. 5. Un-level floors didn't allow for bedroom dresser drawers to stay closed. Simply leveling the dresser would have addressed that. 6. Sound proofing from upstairs unit virtually non-existent. 7. Bed in bedroom with mini-TV needs attention. Sounds and feels like a support may be broken. 8. Living room furniture is really unacceptable. Arrangement of furniture does not allow for comfortable TV viewing. This also could be easily amended. 9. Even though smoking is not allowed in the rooms, other tenants using the front porch to smoke weed and cigarettes at all hours isn't all that pleasant for those of us that don't smoke. By the way, I am not a prude about smoking. We realize that the house is old and there are some things that even renovations can't fix (sound-proofing.) However, be aware that the pictures and description as advertised are very mis-leading. We booked this place through Hotels.com and I would've sent them this review as well, but found it virtually impossible to find a way to address them the review regardless of their prompts to do so.
