Vegetable Samosa
Phoebe C.

Hands down the best indian food I've had yet! The portion sizes were huge snd everything was so flavorful without being too overpowering. Definitely recommend getting the vegetable samosas! The butter chicken was creamy and the tandoori chicken was tender. The service is great and food came out within 10 minutes. Definitely make a reservation here as it gets full especially on weekends. The atmosphere was nice and not too loud but lively!

Came here on a weekend afternoon and managed to catch happy hour. Some pretty good deals with a variety of appetizers. We ordered the Dahi Puri, Chicken 65, and Mughalai Paneer. The paneer was definitely a standout and I'd have it again. Service was friendly and food came out pretty fast.

Visited during lunch on a weekend and no reservation was needed. I am not sure if the cuisine here is authentic, I liked their curry and appreciate that the foods were well presented. Overall I enjoyed the vibes at this place and would visit again for nice decor and excellent service. I would mention that the ladies bathroom was not up to par that day. The bathroom door was prompted wide open with a huge humidifier in front of the door. I am guessing it has to be kept running but the size of the appliance made the bathroom felt very cramped and definitely took away the privacy level. Hopefully the situation is rectified and doesn't take away the meal experience at Sula. I haven't been to other Sula locations but this is a convenient location on Commercial Drive with paid street parking available.

Wanted great Indian food when we were in Vancouver and Sula was super highly ranked on most of the sites. Definitely for a reason. Killer food, great ambiance and excellent service. Highly recommend.

Came here for to celebrate my partner's birthday because he loves Indian food and we had heard that Sula is one of the best. They have 3 locations but we visited their Commercial Drive location - it's not very close to the skytrain but it's still a good location. We went on a Thursday night and had gotten reservation prior, I would say it was pretty crowded considering it was a weekday. Their ambiance was amazing!! The paintings and artifcats on the walls were gorgeous. For drinks - we got their Kingfisher which is an Indian beer that we love and their blueberry bourbon which was sweet and sour. We loved the cocktail! Would definitely come back to try some of their ones as they looked so good. For appies we got their guvava golgappe - as someone who LOVES golgappe, I did not like the twist of guvava in there but other on the table thought it wasn't too bad. I would say their bread selection was pretty good and the quantities were pretty big! We specially loved their laccha parathas. They also gave us complimentary dessert and their chai pistachio cake for my partner's birthday. They also played happy birthday on the piona which was so sweet! I would say the chai pistachio dessert is a MUST TRY!!! I would come back just for that. Customer service was top notch as well :) super glad I chose this place for his birthday.

Vegetable samosa

Really enjoyed the atmosphere and food. Highly recommend ordering the vegetable coconut curry, saag paneer, vegetable samosa, and garlic naan. We also ordered the butter chicken curry but it was pretty tomato saucy so would not recommend and the cucumber salad could use more sauce or seasoning it was just cut up cucumbers and peppers and that's it. Paloma was good for a drink too!

Butter Chicken and Garlic Naan

Sula's was so good that my bf and i didn't talk for the first 30 minutes because we were eating so good. The butter chicken with garlic naan was absolutely incredible. A very romantic vibe... the lighting was so nice, food was delicious, and lots of beautiful decor to appreciate. A huge thank you to our server Harnoor K for the wonderful service; she was so kind and even offered us complimentary dessert My boyfriend and I love ranking every restaurant we visit, and this one was actually "S Tier". We will definitely be coming back!

The ambience was great! The service was fast! And the food was delicious! I would highly recommend their appetizer more than their entrees , the portions are great too

I decided to take a friend for an impromptu late lunch during Dine Out Vancouver at this restaurant on Commercial Street. We both love Indian food, so the Dine Out set menu seemed like a great choice. The food presentation and taste were solid, and the portion sizes were decent. However, the overall experience was slightly marred by poor service and an uncomfortable seating arrangement. We were seated at a tiny corner table, despite the fact that the restaurant was nearly empty--fewer than three tables were occupied when we arrived. As someone with years of experience in the food industry, I could immediately tell that the seating could have been handled better. My friend is quite tall, and I'm not much shorter, so the tight seating made it difficult to enjoy our meal. To make matters worse, the small table was overcrowded with two water glasses, a jug of water, and side plates. We had to put our water jug on a neighboring table and our jackets on the adjacent chairs, as there was no space. The maitre d' and servers should have noticed the situation and offered us a more comfortable table, especially since the dining room was not busy. While the staff did check in a couple of times to ask how things were, the service felt rushed. At one point, the server spilled food and a fork while clearing the table, and then immediately brought the POS machine without offering coffee or Chai. And we were offered only one dessert (Mango Coconut Cake) as they had no Rose Milk Cake (Cardamom Saffron Rabdi). I've visited this location before and had a better experience, but this visit left me feeling disappointed. To the management: please educate your staff on seating arrangements and customer comfort. A little attention to detail would go a long way in making the dining experience more enjoyable.

Shahi paneer, channa saag, vegetable coconut, onion bhaja, garlic cheese Naan on brown rice.

This is our "go to" for take out. So many options in vancouver, but am consistently satisfied with this place. Had it last night and was delicious!

Potato and pea vegetarian samosa
Ashley N.

I've come to Sula about 4-5 times now, and everytime I visit, the dishes really hit the spot! We made reservations, so we were seated right away. I'm not sure how fast walk-ins would be. To start, the potato and pea samosas were crispy and full of flavour. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the samosas - took half of it home for the next day. The chana masala that came with it was so delicious! So much depth and spice in flavour. I will definitely be back to have this dish alone. I enjoyed the cilantro chutney; not so much of the other one that was sweeter, but that is personal preference. The Tikka masala had a lot of depth in flavour as well. It was spicy, savoury, and creamy, with a hint of sweetness to round it out. Paired with freshly buttered naan, it was such a treat. Service was decent, although sometimes it took awhile to get the attention of a staff member. Portion sizes are good, given the heaviness of curries. I always think I can eat more than I actually do! Can't wait to keep coming back to Sula!

Chicken tikka masala

Sula is my favourite Indian restaurant on the Drive. I always get the chicken tikka masala and my partner chooses the other dish. This time around she chose the chickpea curry! The chicken tikka masala here is divine! I don't get the butter chicken because it's not to my liking here.. too sweet. It comes with an adequate amount of chicken and the flavour is delicious. The mild spice is a little too mild for me, so maybe get medium if what you really want is mild! The chickpea curry was really good as well. Perfectly cooked - the chickpeas weren't too soft for a soft mouth, and the flavours of the spice combination are great. The julienned ginger on top was edible as well - wasn't too strong to eat raw! Ate both with garlic naan, but could've went for plain naan as the garlic didn't add much to these. Service is always amazing when I go. The ambiance is nice but it can get loud as there are usually a lot of large parties around when we go. It's quite dark in there as well.

Butter Paneer Curry, Garlic Naan, and a Mango Lassi.

Literally my favourite curries and garlic naan in the city! Even when you walk in and smell, you're already hooked..! Great vegetarian options and such flavourful curries. Always such a treat.

Not the most amazing Indian food I've tasted, but overall fairly tasty. I prefer South Indian offerings, but... Had a lamb thali and my wife had a veg thali. Only two dishes on the thali plate, where I would normally expect a couple more. The vegetable salad was a definite weak point, as it was just a few scraps of inexplicably blanched peppers and cucumber. Ample servings of the mains though. Price point was a little higher than I would have thought for a lunch special.

It looked like a small place from the outside but they cater to bigger groups as well - we were a group of 10 that went there on a Sunday night. The restaurant wasn't too crowded. Their food was incredible! I only got one of their cocktails - the mithai wala which came with rose petals and a vodka base. It was delicious, I would recommend! For food, we got their achari chicken from their tandoor menu. It was really good, we went for a medium spice level for it but I think we could have done hot. The flavours were really good and chicken was cooked very well! We also got their kathal tikka (which is basically jackfruit), it's so hard to find that in Vancouver but Hariyali did an incredible job! Everyone on the table were a big fan of it! Their menu is pretty big and we didn't get a lot of their items but I will definitely come back to try more things. It is also pretty affordable! Would recommend a visit!

I want to start this review by giving a big shoutout to Pemba who was our server, he was so kind and took such good care of us and recommended really good items based on what we wanted. Such a great appetizer! :: Lasooni palak burrata - I was a little apprehensive about this at first because burrata and palak didn't seem like something I would want to try but I was wrong! A huge shout-out to the founders of the restaurant. Their vision and attention to detail are evident in every corner of the restaurant, from the impeccable service to the unique decor. It was an impressive experience across the board! Everything was perfectly curated I really don't have the vocabulary to articulate. What truly distinguishes Bombay Kitchen and Bar is the seamless combination of exceptional hospitality and remarkable cuisine. Every dish was a work of art, prepared with meticulous care and beautifully presented. The quality of the ingredients and the execution of the flavours were truly top-tier. We started off with the Mixed Grill platter...and my mouth just watered watching my video back of it. The paneer was unbelievably soft -- probably the softest I've ever had in my life. It was fresh, melt-in-your-mouth delicious -- you almost don't want to bite it because it just glides down so smoothly. And the Amritsari Fish Pakora. Tell me anyone wouldn't just devour this in seconds. And the Chicken Tikka is always a good move! And Butter Chicken and Garlic Naan? Nothing can beat this combo! I just can't get enough of it. And they served me up a mocktail (Rimjhim) that was straight out of a summer dream! After moving to Canada, one of the founders, Navish noticed that much of the Indian food available had been heavily westernized. But Navish wanted to create a restaurant that stayed true to the bold flavours that define Punjabi cuisine so at Bombay Kitchen and Bar you are tasting authenticity in every bite because every dish is rooted in tradition. The legacy is brought to the table! I'm not kidding when I say they cook from the heart and soul! The menu stays true to its roots. Every dish we tried was packed with authentic flavour and prepared to perfection. One of the best places to experience the true essence of Punjab. What sets them apart is the authentic Punjabi flavour, giving you a true taste of Punjab. You can tell they don't compromise on quality here. So this isn't just an Indian restaurant; it's a heartfelt tribute to tradition, flavour, and the timeless comfort of a truly satisfying meal. You can tell the kitchen team takes great pride in their work because the flavours were spot-on. Beyond the dishes, what really stood out was the hospitality: warm, thoughtful, and full of heart. The service was as impeccable as the food. My server Aman went above and beyond, guiding me through the menu and ensuring I felt right at home. This restaurant nails it on all fronts--great atmosphere, delicious food, and the incredible service from a friendly staff. It's clear that a lot of effort goes into creating such a memorable guest experience. The restaurant itself is stunning; equally perfect for a laid-back lunch or a polished dinner, but it's the food that truly steals the spotlight. The cleanliness, presentation, and overall vibe reflect true 5-star quality. But what makes the experience even better are the owners themselves. They're not just the owners/founders; they're the heart behind the food. You can feel how much pride, care, and love they put into every single dish, and it makes everything taste that much better. There's nothing better than knowing your meal was made by someone who truly loves what they do.
