Had a wonderful experience at Sulla Vita. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms and the prosciutto fig pizza. Both were absolutely delicious. The chorizo in the stuffed mushrooms made them stand out from any others I've tried before and added such a great depth of flavor. I would recommend trying Sulla Vita if you're looking for good, comforting and a little bit elevated Italian food. We were worried that it would be busy during the holiday season, but we were lucky enough to be seated right away. Our waiter was friendly, patient and answered all of our questions. The interior of the restaurant was spacious and relaxing. Because it was the start of winter, they had covered tents and heaters for the outdoor seating. We ordered the Funghi Pizza and the Chicken Penne with Alfredo Sauce. I wish there was a little more mushrooms, but if you like Gorgonzola, this pizza had the perfect amount of cheese. What a treasure! Leavenworth is an adorable little Christmas village with a strong German influence. It was a last-minute decision for us while on a larger trip. I don't care for German food so we decided on Sulla Vita, which is more Italian. What a great decision! The service was warm and welcoming.. We were seated immediately. They had a very nice wine selection. The menu was brief, but excellent. We shared stuffed mushrooms, Insalata Guacomo, and shrimp penne with Alfredo. It was all excellent. The Insalata guacomo tasted like summer!! Where did they get such excellent tomatoes in the winter??? Yum!!! While it was all great, that was my favorite. The service was wonderful. The owner greeted us and we had a nice conversation about our trip. He kept coming back for a brief chats, which made it fun. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu. And although she was extremely busy, kept coming back to check on us to make sure we had everything we needed. It was a warm and cozy atmosphere. We love this place and try to eat here every time we visit Leavenworth! We like being able to share a bunch of small plates because it's hard to choose from when everything is this delicious! Each bite has a pop of creative protein included like the stuffed mushrooms with chorizo and the wood fired medjool dates with prosciutto. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough! First, they do a text message wait list, meaning that even if they have a wait, you can enjoy some time in town. Next, the wait time wasn't nearly as long as most other restaurants in town, we only waited half an hour for a table for 6 on a Saturday night following Christmas. Now to talk about the amazing service and food! Our server was so attentive and informative, it really felt like we were at a fine dining establishment with a formally trained Michelin Star server (I wish I got his name). Our first night in Leavenworth and we found a gem! As we had just gotten into town and wanted to explore a little bit, we walked around and saw this cute restaurant and started to look at the menu. The more we perused through the menu, the hungrier we got. Talked to the host for a few minutes and he noted that the place was dog-friendly, which was the perfect because we had both our pups. The server was super thoughtful and got our dogs water bowls and constantly checked in to make sure both ourselves and the dogs were taken care of and okay. Got a tomato soup, which was a 9/10, that was balanced well between the savory and sweet flavor and was amazing on a chilly night. Also got the drunken clams and the funghi pizza, both were amazing flavors and made us want to come back for me. If we visit Leavenworth again, you can bet we will be back. read more

The Margherita Pizza was on par with the better of Margherita Pizzas I've had in the past. Perfectly cooked crust and the familiar flavor of cheese, tomatoes that are satisying. The two Penne Pastas were superb. The Alfredo Penna Pasta slightly edged out the Pesto Penne Pasta, but not by much. The Alfredo sauce was lighter than what I usually experienced, and it was more on the cheesy side. Loved the simplicity yet the flavor abundance. The Peso Penne was also delicious with the yummy pesto flavor and the perfectly cooked penne. I had planned to come back again after a long day of hiking but unfortunately didn't make it. I am in love with Pizzas here. The Funghi pizza is out of this world - gives you an outer body experience ( p.s. - you must love Arugula). The chicken garlic pizza was pretty good too. The vegetable pizza is a good choice too. However I will always stick with Funghi. Service and Ambience both are great. One thing to remember is that this place opens at 3. Although I didn't find the food to be anything spectacular, it was a fun time at Sulla Vita with its friendly service and the many local wine and beer offerings. The menu featured a good amount of different options, with a few pastas, pizzas, meat entrees and sides. There was something for everyone here to choose from. I ordered the meatballs, which came with a choice of penne or ciabatta bread and had a side of the cauliflower & parsnip gratin. The food wasn't bad, but not memorable. I found the meatballs standard, with the tomato sauce being a tad too sweet to my liking. I ordered mine with the side of ciabatta bread and would've enjoyed it more had there been a slight toast to it, to firm it up. However, the cauliflower & parsnip gratin was delicious, so would order this again with a different protein if I ever come back here. Some friends and I stopped in for a Saturday dinner after spending the day tubing on the river, primarily because they were able to seat us right away. We ordered a smattering of dishes as well as a charcuterie spread that we shared. The meats, cheeses, and dips were excellent, as was the pizza that I nearly inhaled. The crust on the pizza was the perfect balance between being thin but also being soft and fluffy instead of overly crisp which usually happens when too-thin crust spends too much time in the pizza oven. We came in on a Friday night and we were seated immediately inside. My husband, toddler and I immediately were given ice water and welcomed upon sitting. The waiter explained the specials and how their pizza was cooked in an 800 degree oven. We ordered the ciabatta bread, which is baked fresh daily and served with oil and vinegar, and the asparagus appetizer. Boy was the asparagus app delicious!! The portions were also good sized with about 6 bundles of asparagus. The ciabatta had about 6 pieces as well which was a lot compared to regular restaurants. For pizza we ordered the vegetable pizza and a kids cheese. Both were delicious and came out quick. The crust was definitely a shining star and perfectly done. If we weren't super full we would have tried the dessert. Our water was never empty even though we had a pitcher the waiter consistently filled our waters. The other waiters(waitresses) picked up our empty plates promptly so we weren't staring at dirty dishes. Overall this was an amazing experience and we would recommend highly. read more

Update time and sadly it's a bit of a demotion. Sulla Vita used to be my favorite place in Leavenworth, but each time I come it doesn't have any of the magic it has from my first visit and dips each time. The roasted garlic chicken pizza was the latest pie ordered up and it just was bland. Not as cheesy as I thought. Chicken was alright, nothing really seemed garlic about it. The green onions helped it along both in presentation and taste, but I feel it's far from the previous pies we've gotten. as I mentioned each pizza order just seems to lack the punch of my first couple visits here - cheesiness, toppings, flavor. I got to try a little of the Pesto pasta which was ok. The good is that the Cauliflower gratin and the Oven roasted Brussels are still great sides and haven't really missed a beat. A favorite since my first visit over five years ago. Just about each time I visit Leavenworth I like to come here and don't want to change that. I'm hoping in my next visit it brings bite and make me love Sulla Vita like I used to. read more

Came here for the Bavarian Christmas nights and found this place easy to get into. The food was solid and the room was heated, which was nice since we were on the covered patio and finding warm places to eat for our mom can be hard during this event. Based on my dish, the penne with alfredo sauce, I'd give the restaurant 3 stars since the sauce was separating and the portion wasn't exactly generous, but they won an extra star because it was very lemony and that made up for the dish's setbacks. The entire team worked flawless together and all helped to make our meal so enjoyable. The outdoor seating along front street was great. We conversed with each other, our fellow diners, and watched the endless parade of unique people enjoying a perfect night in the Bavarian village. We loved the traditional tapas approach and it made the timing of the meal perfect. We started with the Caprese and Stuffed Mushrooms. For our mains we had the chicken penne with pesto cream and the SV scallops with ciabatta bread. We finished our meal with the homemade cheese cake and lattes. On our trip to Leavenworth this year we were finally able to stop in and try this place as it's been in my bookmarks the last couple years. They are one of the only restaurants in Leavenworth that has the space to accommodate the outdoor dining mandates and their space is even partially enclosed and heated to help with the blustery cold Leavenworth days. We visited after the holiday rush in January and did not have trouble getting a table with only a 15 min or so wait. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about gluten free making ordering super easy. They do not have gf pasta or pizza but there are many other things that either are gf or can be made that way since their kitchen is used to accommodating this allergy. The husband ordered the carne pizza and said it was fantastic not leaving a speck remaining! Our friend enjoyed the veggie pizza and complimented the nice crust. I loved the gorgonzola stuffed dates and went for the scallops which instead of the bread I ordered the cauliflower and parsnip gratin to act as a vehicle for the delicious juices. This place has outdoor dining which is enclosed in plastic and it is pretty comfortable. We had the mushroom pizza which was simply fabulous. 5/5 the clams were good 4/5 and the calamari and mushrooms were just ok. 3/5 The puttanesca needed more heat and flavor.
