Called Luke last week after we identified a small leak that appeared to be coming from chimney or roof around the chimney. He was out the same day to take a look at it and found some cracks in the mortar and the cap. He didn't have what he wanted to in the truck, but offered to caulk all the cracks for us as a stop gap (since more weather was expected over the weekend) and then come back to give the "put it to bed" solution. True to his word, he just wrapped up the work today. Sent me pictures of the before and after work each time, so I didn't even have to leave work to be there! This is the second time we've called Luke for chimney work. Each time he has beat all other companies we've called in responsiveness and estimate prices. Other companies took days to call back or never did. He also takes an active interest in diagnosing the problem so he can better his own knowledge for future customers. If we still have a leak, I feel pretty confident it won't be the chimney, and he wants to know if it is in fact something else. Don't know too many individuals or companies that would do the same. We called Sullivan Chimney Sweep as a preventative measure-we had moved into an older home 2-1/2 years ago and figured it was time to get our chimney looked at. Luke and Steve came over the next day and did a great, thorough inspection of our fireplace and chimney. Luke Sullivan is great. He answered the phone when I called and was very knowledgeable. I was selling a house and the buyers wanted the chimney cleaned and serviced since the inspector said birds were nesting at the top. Luke didn't think there were birds and indeed he was correct. No birds. There were a few leaves that came down the flue and Luke said the chimney looked to be recently cleaned and that it did not need cleaning. Apparently the leaves in the firebox caused the inspector to throw a red flag and think there were birds at the top. He was covering his buttox I guess. Luke wanted to save me money as opposed to most companies that want to take your money. He said no need to clean it and waste your money. He did have to charge me a few bucks for the trip which I understood and he did clean the firebox and wrote me an invoice for my buyers and was on his way. I'd surely use him again.
