I came in for an oil change and was told I did not have a choice -- that it must be full synthetic for $165+ even though at my last oil change it was a synthetic blend for half the price. Actually, I do have a choice. And I chose to take my car elsewhere. Funny thing is, most people avoid dealerships thinking they're overpriced. Not the case here. The local dealership quoted me $40 less with verified technicians. I could even go just down the street to a competitor and get the same service for $70 less. So, thanks for the push, Sullivan. 6 months ago , I removed girlfriend's front tires with a tire iron. Replaced brake pads on her 2008 Chevy Malibu. . She waited till end of March to get inspection done . Needed 2 front tires to pass Massachusetts inspection. Dropped car off Monday 3/31/2025 in Braintree. 2 front tires and wheel alignment. I get a call that afternoon. They tell we had a terrible problem getting driving side tire off . We have not tried other tire . Heads up they say , it's 150.00 to repair driving side . We have not tried right yet .it's going to be another 150.00 if we have ruin and destroy the lug bolts .Getting the nuts off , of tires that a 67 year old man . Put on with a lug wrench . I went to the Sullivan Tire for a NH in Salem NH for an inspection sticker made an appointment 2 days in advance since I had to be in MA during this time it was an hour drive. Showed up to find out the tech had switched his hours and might show up at 9:00 or so This was at 8:00 Am. I said why no phone call you have my number a shrug and told me I could wait. As a woman who doesn't know much about cars, I've gotten used to being patronized or upsold on things for things as simple as routine maintenance. This has never been the case at the Quincy Sullivan Tire location. I've worked with John several times over the last couple of years and he has always been super helpful and genuinely friendly. He explains everything clearly and often helps me prioritize repairs and maintenance to fit my limited budget. I used to feel a ton of anxiety anytime I had something going on with my car, but John and the rest of the team at this location have made every interaction as painless as possible. We have been customers of Sullivan Tire for years, years. That is over! I recently brought our 09' Honda Accord in for a brake inspection after hearing and feeling metal on metal when braking. I received a call from the salesperson later that day who informed me that the vehicle needed $3800 in repairs. He said the car needed front and rear brake pads and rotors and that a rear caliper was frozen and required replacing. He also said the car needed four new struts. In disbelief, I said that I would come by the store. Upon arriving, I asked the salesperson how much would it be if they just did the brakes. He said $2100. I said I'll just take the car. I paid the $39.99 fee for the inspection and asked for a copy of the report. I left the store. I called my brother, who is a retired auto mechanic, and asked if he could help me with this. We decided to do it ourselves. We bought new pads and rotors for $200. We figured we'd check the frozen caliper before buying one. Here's how the inspection and repair went. The front brakes were absolutely not severely worn as stated in the report. The pads were slightly worn and still had plenty of meat on them (see attached photo). We replaced them anyway since they were cheap and we had the tires off. The rotors were fine. The rear brakes did require replacing of pads and rotors but neither of the rear calipers were frozen or binding as stated in the report. So, it turns out we were being scammed by the very company we had been so loyal to. What a disappointment! It's disgraceful. Obviously, we are all done with Sullivan Tire and will be sharing this story with friends and family. read more

The sensors in my car kept showing low tire pressure on one of my tires. I have a portable tire inflator so inflated it myself. The sensor still wouldn't stop flashing. I drove by Sullivan's and asked if they could help fix it. Mohammed asked me to pull up and quickly aired all 4 tires. No charge. Just being helpful. I was not expecting to have my expectations met today for a walk-in slow leaking tire repair. Full disclosure: I called the Sullivan shop by the South Shore Plaza and wasn't impressed with their answers to my questions or their general attitude. I thought there was a shop closer to me in Quincy Center, so I drove there instead without calling first. The answers were the same but with much more kindness and understanding. It was around 9:30 am and I needed to have my car by 4 pm to which they said leave it with us and we'll see what we can do. I got a call close to 3:30 pm telling me it would be done by the time I got there. And it was. I was TOTALLY shocked when he told me he was doing his good deed for the day and charged me nothing. I had a massive chunk of metal from construction go into my tire, and they were able to pull it out, replace the tire and on my way in a small amount of time! Got a nail in my tire Friday afternoon, called Sullivan Tire and they said they could get it right in to look at. The tire wasn't able to be patched. I had put off tire replacement for too long, so it was time for 4 new tires. From the initial phone call with Matt, his prompt calls to let me know pricing before they did anything, to the pickup of the vehicle the next day, I couldn't have been happier. Not even worth 1-star. DISHONEST! Brought my car in to have the brakes looked at. They called me and said I needed new pads, rotors, calipers on all 4 tires. I told them that THEY had just replaced the pads, rotors and calipers on the rear tires LESS THAN 8,500 miles ago. They couldn't give me any idea of why they would need to be done again other than repeating that due to the age of the car, the brakes go quicker (bunch of BS!). They also tried telling us we needed a new battery (which we replaced elsewhere about a year ago) and a laundry list of other nonsense. The guy who called us was stumbling on his words and didn't seem to know anything about cars in general. I will never bring my cars back there again. We have spent a lot of money over the years at this location and we are disgusted with what they have become. Dishonest, greedy, scam artists! We brought our car to a real (and honest) mechanic who replaced what was needed. He even commented on how he could tell the rears had been done recently. Sullivan, had you not been so greedy, you could have had our $400 to do what was needed, but instead you tried to upsell us with unnecessary repairs. Shame on you! read more

Sullivan Tire saved me when my battery died with the ridiculously cold winter we're having right now. (I have AAA but they were getting so many calls that I was transferred to a busy signal each time I tried getting through.) My husband called Sullivan Tire to see if they had the car battery we needed in stock, and they did! While I tweeted to a friend about the car battery dieing & that I was headed to Sullivan Tire to get a new battery, the Sullivan Tire twitter account sent me a coupon for $5 off a new battery! The staff at this Quincy location is wonderful. (I've been here before for work on my tires and they've been great then too.) They needed to have the battery sent over from their Braintree location, so they doubled my coupon in thanks for waiting. While we waited, I asked the staff if there was anything we should know so we didn't make a "rookie mistake" changing the battery ourselves and they gave great advice. My car has 127k miles on it but was shaking when I braked showing some serious front end issues. The wonderful staff at the Quincy location recommended a safety check and they diagnosed the issues. They were, as always, so helpful in explaining the issues and helping get the repairs done timely and reasonably! Terrible. Listen to the other reviews here. I brought my car in for a brake check and repair, and received a call in an hour to say that my brakes, pads, and calipers all needed replacing for $950. I had JUST had my calipers done, and obviously felt that they were being dishonest. They WORD for WORD said what another reviewer (Megan K.) said about "calipers, brakes, and rotors being replaced" AND "needing a new battery, tires etc." despite four tires that THEY put on less than a year ago. Yikes. I took my car to Jim at Abdon in Wollaston. He was amazing. Turns out I only needed brakes and rotors -- the piston was jammed and easily fixable. He took care of me for only $250. He's good! Went to pick up my key at Sullivan and they STILL charged me $40 just to look at the brakes. I will never go here again. It's obvious that they are constantly trying to upsell, and they don't take the time to look for more than a minute to diagnose the issue. Absolutely ridiculous. DO NOT GO for anything more than a tire change. read more

My experience with Sullivan Tire was amazing today! I got a flat tire yesterday, and AAA placed my very old spare tire on my car so I could make it home. Although I did not have an appointment today,I dropped my car off to Sullivan Tire, before it was opened, and left a note that I needed 4 new tires installed. I was expecting the new tires to look brand new not dirty like it has paint over it, not sure what it is. It's gone now after a few drives. The tires are new though. I checked the date. Three of the hub caps were not properly secured. I had to pull them all out and put them back in. Injured my knuckles while doing so. They were very noticeable so I'm not sure why the mechanic didn't notice this. I was also told that they provide courtesy Lyft ride by the website agent but this is not the case. So make sure you call the store to find out. I wish you could provide the pickup time like the Braintree store. read more

The manager was very accommodating and, despite their schedule fully booked that day, they were willing to take a look at my vehicle. They called back within a few hours, clearly explained to me what the issue was, and did the job that needed to be done in order for me to be on the road safely again.
