Sullivans steakhouse knows their steak!!! My family and I came to celebrate my upcoming graduation a little early. I had been craving a good steak and they were opened on a Sunday at 3 pm. The service was just okay. We easily waited over an hour for our food, I honestly think it was a bit longer than that. This was the worst thing about the visit as well as the very expensive pricing so I will give it a 3/5 stars. When I come to a steakhouse, I expect the service to be amazing but waiting over an hour was ridiculous. There was also only one other table with people, the restaurant was empty for the most part. I loved my steak. I got the Cajun ribeye steak and as sides I got the lobster Mac and cheese and creamed spinach. The prices were very high. Just my steak was $69. Most of the sides were overpriced and the lobster Mac and cheese for $21 only had three small pieces of lobster. The creamed spinach was good. It honestly makes sense after leaving why we were the only other party to pull up at 3 who came to dine today especially for a Sunday evening. To begin, the front lobby smelled of roach spray which was already unsettling. This was my first time trying this restaurant and the dinner was very disappointing. The interior is neat, classy, and nice for formal dinners, business meetings, etc. but we waited over an hour for our food- had reservations for 3pm but food didn't arrive until 4:21pm. The waiter was all over the place and for what reason we didn't know because the restaurant was empty so his attention should've been our table- the only one he was waiting. My steak was cold and not seasoned well like I asked. I got the $71 cowboy cut steak medium well, garlic mashed potatoes, a side Caesar salad, and the knockout drink that was supposed to be some speciality soaked pineapples in vodka later used in a cocktail or something but it tasted like watered down pineapple juice for $16. The mashed potatoes were the most enjoyed dish. To have waited over an hour for below subpar food at this price has me livid but I paid and will NEVER return here again. read more

The bartender seemed swamped, and I eventually had to flag down a server to place my food order. I tried the Beef Wellington bites, Louisiana charbroiled oysters, and a French 75. The oysters were decent but nothing exceptional, and the Beef Wellington bites were overcooked and didn't quite capture the essence of a true Wellington..just not my favorite dish. I tried both the Blueberry Lemon Drop and the Strawberry Lemon Drop and both were extremely tart for my taste. The appetizers were good, and I ordered the New York Strip for my entrée. It seemed like I may have received the wrong cut, as my steak was cooked closer to medium than medium rare. The sides were decent, but nothing particularly memorable. Visited for Mother's Day lunch with a 1:15 PM reservation. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. We arrived at 12:40 PM, checked in, and went to the bar to wait for our table. Around 1:24 PM, I realized we had never been seated. When I checked with the hostess, I was told they had "called our name" and already gave our table away. We were sitting in the bar the entire time and never heard our name called. The hostess insisted it was called loudly, which clearly wasn't the case. We were told we were "next," so we paid our bar tab and stood at the hostess desk to make sure we wouldn't be missed again. At that point, it was clear the restaurant was completely overwhelmed. Another guest nearby with a 12:45 reservation was told she'd be waiting an additional hour. People were frustrated, some were walking out, and the entire front area felt chaotic. We spoke with the manager, Ryan, who explained the restaurant had been double-booked through corporate reservation systems, which was contributing to the delays. We were eventually seated in a cramped side room and told the kitchen was backed up, so we ordered immediately. Our appetizer arrived fairly quickly, along with bread and butter, so we thought things were improving. They weren't. By 3:45 PM we still had no main food after arriving at 12:40 PM. At that point, I asked how much longer and was told there were "two tickets ahead of us." At 4:00 PM, still no food had arrived, and we told the manager we were ready to leave. He said it would be 5-10 more minutes, and it finally came out about nine minutes later. The explanation given was that the kitchen tickets were not printing correctly, causing a major backup. Meanwhile, the dining room was full of frustrated guests, complaints, and people leaving. After nearly four hours in the restaurant, the food was finally served--and it was not worth the wait. We were told Sullivan's Steakhouse had some of the best steaks, which is why my son, daughter-in-law, and husband chose it as a Mother's Day surprise. The steak was subpar, the Brussels sprouts were terrible, and while the potatoes were fine, nothing was memorable or exceptional. To make matters worse, the bathrooms were horrendous. I told our waitress they needed attention and she acknowledged it. I went back again later because of how long we were there, and not only were they still dirty, but there were no paper towels available at all to dry your hands. Completely unacceptable. After sitting there from 12:40 PM until 4:30 PM and spending nearly $500 there was no comp, no gesture, and no real attempt to make things right--just repeated apologies and explanations about corporate booking issues. I'm sharing this experience so other guests planning special occasions know what to expect. If you're considering this restaurant for a holiday or important celebration, I would strongly recommend choosing somewhere else. This ended up being the worst Mother's Day meal I've ever had. After spending thousands of dollars to celebrate my daughter graduating from LSU, I feel obligated to warn others about the terrible experience we had at Sullivan's Steakhouse. We hosted a private dinner for 30 guests, and from the moment we arrived at 6:00 PM, the evening was already falling apart. Staff members were still setting up the room as guests arrived. By 6:15 PM, appetizers were placed on the tables, but there were no plates for guests to eat with. Guests repeatedly asked for plates and were continuously told they were "working on it" while the food sat getting cold. By the time plates finally arrived, most people no longer wanted the appetizers. To make matters worse, they were extremely salty and barely edible. The crab cakes were the only decent thing served. I immediately expressed my concerns to the manager, CJ, because I was genuinely worried about how the rest of the evening would go. Unfortunately, things only became worse. The salads were unacceptable. Several guests received old iceberg lettuce with brown pieces throughout, and multiple people commented that it tasted dirty, like it had not been properly washed. The entrees were an absolute disaster. Guests who ordered steaks received gray meat that bled excessively when cut into, despite ordering medium-well. One table had to send their meals back entirely. When the replacement steaks arrived, they were burnt, dry, and almost impossible to eat. I personally ordered the salmon, which was extremely dry, and the asparagus served with it were practically raw. Then came dessert, which somehow managed to be even worse. The key lime pie and cheesecake tasted spoiled. The banana foster bread pudding was burnt. What upset me the most was seeing my daughter sad on what should have been one of the happiest days of her life. Instead of enjoying her graduation celebration, I spent the entire evening apologizing to guests and trying to hold everything together while the event continued to unravel. This was supposed to be a beautiful, memorable celebration after my daughter graduated from LSU. The ambiance is very romantic and cozy, so it's a great place to do a date night or special event but other than that ehhhh.. I started off with the spicy shrimp egg rolls - which were too sweet and undercooked the presentation was great but taste wasn't there. I accompanied that appetizer with the charbroiled oysters this was the highlight of the night, with their signature creole butter, it was a nice touch. The porterhouse steak should've been my highlight of the night seeing it's a proper cut of meat and it's a steak house it lacked soooooo much of flavor and I ordered medium well the steak I received was a piece of leather. The server knew right away it wasn't the temperature I requested and wanted me to cut into it, honestly if you knew it looked over cooked why bring it to me and have me decide if I wanted to keep it? I didn't like that. The sides I ordered with the steak were the lobster mash and Brussel sprouts which both tasted like pecans I didn't fancy them at all. The last dish ordered was the salmon, it was decent at most... not really much to say about it... After receiving a $200 gift card from the manager following my terrible experience at Christmas, I decided to give Sullivan's another chance, this time for my birthday. This time was MUCH better. The cheesesteak egg rolls were a great starter. My son and I both ordered NY strips, and we enjoyed our steaks. I had the Gorgonzola butter on mine, which I liked a lot. I also had a side of the homemade steak sauce which was a nice accompaniment. My son wanted to try the lobster mac n' cheese again, even though last time it was inedible. This go-round it tasted completely different, and he gobbled it up. I had the au gratin potatoes and they were really good, too. The only reasons why I can only give it 4 stars is because 1) my wife ordered crab cakes, and when they were first given to her, they were still cold. After heating them up a little more and bringing them back, she liked them quite a bit.... and 2) there seemed to be a gnat problem, as several tables (including us) were waving them away during our meals. It wasn't that big of a deal, but still. For dessert they brought me a complimentary dessert of my choice. I chose the bananas Foster bread pudding, which was just OK in my opinion. All in all though, we enjoyed our meals and Sullivan's did a solid job of redeeming themselves. Our party of seven arrived promptly at our reserved time, only to be informed that there would be an additional one-hour wait due to a "glitch in the system" that resulted in the restaurant being overbooked. What made this even more frustrating was that no prior notice or warning was provided, despite the issue apparently being known before our arrival. Although disappointed, we chose to remain patient and waited the additional hour to be seated, hoping the rest of the evening would improve. Unfortunately, once seated, we then endured an additional three-hour wait for our meals to be served. Spending the majority of Mother's Day waiting first for a table and then for food was completely unacceptable, especially for what was supposed to be a special celebration for my wife and daughter. To make matters worse, the only acknowledgment of the situation was the offer of two complimentary desserts after our party spent over $600 on the meal. While the gesture was noted, it did not come close to addressing the level of inconvenience, frustration, and disappointment we experienced. We chose your restaurant expecting a memorable and enjoyable Mother's Day celebration. Instead, the evening was marked by poor communication, excessive delays, and a lack of meaningful customer service recovery. I hope you will take this feedback seriously and consider how situations like this are handled in the future. At a minimum, customers should receive advance communication about overbooking issues and a more appropriate response when service failures of this magnitude occur. read more

I've experienced Sullivan's steakhouse on a number of occasions, but never for happy hour. This time my husband and I tried out the happy hour bar menu. The bar area is really nice and spacious. There is plenty of seating for small or larger groups, just get there before 5pm. We sat at the bar and ordered two rosemary old fashioneds, along with the Sullivan beef sliders and the steak eggrolls. Honestly, the beef sliders were lackluster and dry. The Steak eggrolls were a 10/10, soooo good! Loaded with steak bites and the sweet chili sauce was amazing! We liked them so much we considered ordering more, but we ordered more old fashioneds instead. Our bartender/server was great! He has a wonderful personality and made great drinks! $250 for two people and that only included one glass of wine. I'm okay with spending money but I've had better steak at outback and the shrimp was so overcooked it had basically turned to rubber. It was like taking someone's first born child to get a drink menu. One of the employees kept slamming his belly into everyone's tables as he stomped through the restaurant. We were seated 20 minutes after our reservation when multiple patrons were sat before us. The customers were loud and obnoxious. The food was bland, the steak was overcooked; which clearly happens a lot because we never complain about food and the server made us cut into the steak, saw it was practically burnt and took it away. The Sullivans house wine I'm pretty sure is watered down because it didn't taste like it had alcohol. The ambiance of the bar was another piece of evidence that the place is trashy and going down hill since the TV was playing old reruns of The Jeffersons? The bathroom smelled like pee. I don't know what else to say about this place other than it's a huge waste of money, they up-charge low quality wine for no reason, their tap water smelled like mold, the tablecloth was dirty, they only thing that was quick about the service was them ringing up the bill... which was no surprise because money is clearly the only thing they care about. Then, the staff retrieved a tree from "the back" that was crooked and barely decorated. When I commented on the appearance as compared to the elaborately decorated lobby tree, I was made to feel unreasonable for expecting something worth taking pictures with as had been promised. Not enough cocktail tables were added, and there were no stools for any of the tables so there was not enough eating or sitting space. Starting with cocktail orders - the drinks themselves tasted great, but they took a VERY long time to come out. Given the staffing shortages with post Covid - I don't usually get frustrated when things take a while, but the restaurant was mostly empty and the wait was excessive. Round 1 took so long that I never made it to round 2. Food - same story. Ordered appetizers and mains. The only thing that came out in a reasonable amount of time was the bread. The oysters took a long time and the mains, they took even longer. It's cool for conversing with guests, but it stinks when you're hungry. I also I had also ordered one additional side that didn't come out with the rest of the meal. The waiter told me it should be right out. Well, near the end of the meal he came out and said that it didn't meet their standards and that the side was no longer available today. We probably could have been given a heads up a half hour earlier. Overall, the waiter was attentive, the food was good - it just took a really loooooooong time. I received an email last week inviting me to a VIP event at the Baton Rouge location where it had me RSVP to an email address. I arrived at the restaurant yesterday shortly after 5pmand checked in with the hostess who said it was first come, first served for seating. My friend and I entered the bar and it was full of patrons but they seemed to all be enjoying the regular happy hour not there for the "event". I was able to stop a waiter and say that I was there for the event and he said they knew nothing about an event and had not prepared for it. There would be no wine tasting because he had no idea what wine it was supposed to be. They would come pass around some appetizers for free but that was the most they could do. He didn't have an attitude but he was very annoyed it seemed. I was able to grab a seat at the bar when people started to clear out. I stayed until 7pm ordering myself a few cocktails (one Knockout 3/5 & one Dirty Bird Martini with blue cheese olives and salted rim 5/5) & starters (Beef Wellington Bites 5/5 & cheesesteak eggrolls 4/5) but no bites were ever served or passed around. This was a very unfortunate experience. I had looked forward to this event all week after receiving the invitation and made plans to attend only to be let down. Also we ended up with a $100+ tab after unplanned purchases because I mean we were here now why leave. Like I said it was very unfortunate. A guy at work suggested a place he saw on a food delivery app. It's name was beauty and the burger but it led us here. I guess that's their alter ego. Here's what I got both times and what I highly recommend. Wedge salad - this is a great wedge salad. Particularly if you pay the up charge and add bacon. Can you ever have too much bacon? Negative. Delmonico Steak - I'm guessing this is the same steak they put on their sandwich. Even though it is only 8oz., it's very filling. It's also delicious. Like really delicious. Brussels sprouts - it wasn't until recently that I even ate Brussels sprouts. These are among the best I've had. Get them. Service has always been great. On a recent visit for one of my co-worker's birthday, we had Pattersen as our server. If you can request a certain server, she is who you should pick. My wife and I ate here with another couple on a Saturday night. While the atmosphere is nice, the service and food could use some improvement. Let's start with the drinks. We each order a drink once we were seated. About 15mins later we ordered the appetizer's, we have no drinks by this point, which is okay with it being a little busy. About 10 mins later we get the appetizer's. One is great, the other lukewarm and looked to be prepared long before it was brought out and still no drinks by this point. After the appetizers were finished we order our meals. Still not one drink has come to our table! About 35 to 40 mins after ordering the drinks one makes it to the table. Where are the other three? Who knows. More waiting. The other three come out one at a time over the next 15 mins or so and get there just before our meals. As far as the meals go; two were again lukewarm, one pan seared sea bass was absolutely pathetic and not nearly worth the $50 they charge for it. One of our friends got the Cajun ribeye and while it looked good on the plate, he said it tasted like a cheap cut of meat. This was all our first experience at Sullivan's and it will be the last! My colleagues and I had a late dinner planned on a Saturday evening. They were unable to accommodate a party of 9 before 8pm so we took that reservation.. we were seated at 8 and by it being so late we all knew what we wanted when we were seated . I believe the server's name was Amy and she was GREAT. She took the drink orders and the appetizers and the food at the same time because we were ready! Boy am I glad we took that route! The appetizers came out in good time but we didn't get food until about 10PM. She said the kitchen had gotten backed up. I added the stuffed shrimp for my steak topper and I was unimpressed. They were cold and the stuffing had NO taste at all and it's $16 for 2. Not worth it. I also had the Brussels with extra bacon and they were PERFECT. The bread pudding was not that good either. I would go back and NOT order the stuff shrimp or the bread pudding everything else was good.
