We've been to Sullivan's Steakhouse a few times now -- for a business lunch, with friends visiting from out of town, and with family -- and have had a great experience each time. The restaurant is a little darker inside than I personally prefer, but the staff have always been friendly and attentive. We tried the Shanghai calamari, seared Ahi tuna, and the lobster bisque. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. We also shared the carrot cake for dessert, which was excellent. I was a bit worried about some of the not-so-great reviews, but my husband and I had a wonderful experience. We came during happy hour and sat in the bar area. The ambiance was nice with most tables full and dim lighting that wasn't too dark. There was a decent selection of happy hour food priced at $10, $15, and $20. Select cocktails were $5 off, and wines were $8 off. To start, we ordered the House Fries, Sriracha Shrimp Lettuce Cups, and Haymaker Chicken Sandwich. The shrimp lettuce cups were our favorite out of the three. The chicken sandwich was good too, but the parmesan fries that came with it were even better. If we had realized just how many fries came with the sandwich, we wouldn't have ordered the house fries because it was a LOT of fries (not a bad thing). I think I would get the shrimp cups again and want to try some other dishes next time. For dessert, a friend recommended we get the Peanut Butter Pie. If you love peanut butter, you will love this! Also, notable mention is the service. Food came out within 15 minutes, and everything was nice and hot. I can't remember the name of our waitress, but she was phenomenal. My husband and I agreed it was some of the best service we've received in a long time. She went above and beyond. She took our order right away, checked up on us just the right amount of times, and refilled my husband's soda as soon as it was empty without us asking. It's the little things. Food Was Good. Not Great. Ive been to many high end restaurants over the years. My take away with Sullivans... Our Waiter, over charged on Bill. Thanks to my wife who reviews every bill, (I keep a running total in my head ) Before she could finish her concerns about bill, waiter grabbed bill and disclosed he made a mistake. He didn't even know what her question was.... like self incrimination I ordered my Beefeaters on the Rocks w/ 2 Olives (before dinner drink) . It was finally severed after appetizers, and a nudge No Olives Caesars Salad was swimming in dressing. Had a hard time finding the Romain. Lobster Tail should be slightly browned. It was Bone White. Butter was presented before the salad arrived. Strip Steak was ordered Medium Rare. Came out Cold Red Strips aren't known for tenderness, it was tough. Hard time believing the cut was USDA Prime. I do my very best to make lemonade out of lemons. We had a great time regardless of above. We saw the General Manager all hands on deck. She was backing our waiter it appeared. I visited Sullivans on a business lunch, and had a great meal. I opted for the ahi tuna sandwich with fries, which was incredible! The tuna is served cold, cubed up and doused in a mayonnaise based sauce. Topped with slaw and avocado, it was the perfect refreshing sandwich (though a little messy to eat, you've been warned). The fries were also great and the parmesan was a nice touch. Service was friendly, but slow, given that the restaurant wasn't terribly busy for weekday lunch. The vibes inside are a bit formal, especially in the dining room, but you can opt as we did to sit in the patio area or front of the restaurant for a slightly more relaxed vibe! read more

I decided to try the bar bites menu and eat in the bar this time. There is also a covered patio space, comfortable tables a few screen TVs to watch an my surprise, a lovely jazz trio. The bar bites menu is thoroughly enjoyable. The seafood was fresh and very flavorful. The beef Wellington bites are a must try. The service was very friendly and efficient. We came here on a quick date night. We were going somewhere else but the parking situation was a nightmare so we came here. Hubs made a reservation in the car. When we arrived, we were seated immediately. The hostess was very nice. Once seated, our waitstaff, Michael, came over and offered us water. We chose sparkling. This is a very nice place. Quiet. I liked the quiet but wish we had sat on the other side by the bar. Live music was being played and it was nice. We noticed that when we were leaving. Let's get to the food. For starters we had the Calamari. It was fried to perfection and the sauce was delicious. For our meals, I had the rack of lamb with a side of lobster mashed potatoes and hubs had a ribeye steak with asparagus. Had I known my lamb chops were on top of mashed potatoes, I wouldn't have gotten the lobster mashed potatoes. The lamp was seasoned perfectly and the dabs of sauce were devine. Hubs really enjoyed his steak. The asparagus was a little chewy versus snapping, but still tasty. The lobster mash was fine but could have used some butter (or more). Oh, I forgot to mention our drinks. Hubs had 3 Banana Old Fashioneds and I had an Apple Cider drink. Sorry, the name escapes me me. It was yummy though. We had 7:30pm Mother's Day reservations and our mom might actually put me up for adoption now. The experience was insulting to mothers everywhere. It took an hour for the first half of our appetizers to arrive. Where was the second half you might ask? Great question. We asked the same, twice. The missing overpriced appetizer showed up a solid 30 minutes later. It sucked, but we were starving so we suffered through the borderline uncooked crab cake. Their signature dish! We're over an hour and a half in at this point. It would be another hour before our main entrees arrived even though we ordered them at the same time as the appetizers. We just sat there waiting with empty drinks, no food, and no communication from staff. Little did our starving stomachs know, we were in for even more disappointment when the mains arrived. Not a single steak was cooked correctly and the lobster mac and cheese was dryer than the Sahara. I'm not usually one to send food back, but I did this time. It was inedible. The waiter brought us regular mac and cheese instead. It ended up being the second worst Mac and cheese I've ever had, runner up to their lobster mac and cheese. They still charged us for the more expensive first attempt with lobster by the way. We planned on getting dessert but didn't have another hour to spare so we passed. Probably saved ourselves from more disappointment. Positives: they sat us on time. The cheesesteak rolls were mostly edible and unique. The bathrooms were clean enough. We won't be back:) read more

Had some apps and beverage in bar area then joined with friends in dining room. The food--overall it was fine. Blue cheese chips--A+. Poke Stack--slightly out of balance, avocado layer was too thick. Dynamite roll--was decent, but nothing special Crab fried rice--good, again nothing special. Value was not there. For the overall experience did not match the prices they are charging. For example--in the bar multiple times it was overwhelmed by the loud personal voice of a male server just "chatting" with the bartender. Our dining room server--was visibly "annoyed" when he learned wife and I would not be ordering entrees(we had had food already in the bar area). His demeanor and service attitude changed after this for the rest of the evening. They seem to want to be "high end" and charge those kind of prices, but the experience does not fit. Too pretentious and trying to be something they are not. Some might disagree, but for these prices I want to have an "experience." Large scale competition such as Morton's or Ruth Chris I think offer better results. read more

I've been here a few times so this review is based on my overall experience. Food: Amazing. I love it. The last time I went I had a porterhouse steak and king crab with goat cheese salad. Absolutely amazing. Service: Can be hit or miss. The last time I went it was great. But the a few of the times before it was really lukewarm (we're heavily tattooed so maybe the waitstaff thought we were broke hooligans. (Don't they know how much tattoos cost?)) Haven't been here for a long time and well, this was the last. I think the people that work here have been watching too many of those tv shows where everyone in the kitchen is yelling at each other. Not fine dining at all. More like going to a gang fight with steak in front of you. Ridiculous amount of banging things around in the kitchen which is open and right on the other side of the table we were at. And again, people screaming at each other the entire time. I think I have been here for 4 business dinners in the last month and they have all been just okay. Service is good, but the kitchen is struggling to get temps correct on steaks. One time it's overcooked another it's Pittsburg blue. Sides are just mid at best. Really dry and clumpy mashed potatoes, asparagus that some are crisp others overcooked, they all lack seasoning . Table of six and none of us were thrilled with the food. This place use to much better. read more

We went for dinner and drinks at happy hour last night. Service is always quite amazing - Arielle, Jackie, and Nevaeh did a great job keeping us fed and topped up on drinks. Live music was a new lady - she had a very nice voice and did jazzy renditions of old standards and we really enjoyed it - we were out on the patio, but it was a bit loud - maybe since they were new, they didn't have the balance quite right? Atrocious. This place has gone wayyyy down hill. Waited 2 hours for our food. My $100 steak was inedible. I ordered medium rare and got a leather boot (they took it off the bill which I appreciate). The service was bad, the food was bad, the servers were clearly overwhelmed and profusely apologized at least 20 times, even though stuff kept getting worse. I realize Christmas is a stressful night but this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. This was pure ineptitude. At least 10 other tables near us were going through it too. My wife and I chose this steakhouse to celebrate our anniversary and were excited to try something new. Over the years, we've had the opportunity to enjoy many steakhouses, so we came in with high expectations. The venue itself was very nice--comfortable, not overcrowded, and pleasantly quiet. Service was attentive, and the drinks were well made and enjoyable. We opted for traditional prime steaks rather than Wagyu. The cuts were fair, with decent marbling, but unfortunately the steaks lacked flavor. When the waitress asked how everything tasted, I requested some salt in hopes it would help, but even with seasoning, the steaks still fell short. We went to Sullivan's for an anniversary dinner, and we're pretty disappointed. We ordered the fixed price menu, the wedge salad and seafood bisque were good. I had a fillet, he had a strip, both with mashed potatoes. My fillet was good, but his strip was very salty. Our potatoes were room temperature, not warm. We added the lobster mac & cheese to our order, which was also room temperature. For dessert I had the Keylime pie and he had the cheesecake, both tasted like they were prepackaged. The crust was soggy. The service was good. We will not go back. It's kind of shocking how a business can give such poor quality goods, but be considered upscale based on their name and location. I came here to celebrate a special occasion and we decided for a more lively scene so we sat at the bar. It was one of those places that is sectioned off from the main dining room and bar area for a different ambiance. We were attended to quickly since we were at the bar counter and our drinks were made in a timely fashion. The bartender was friendly and even chit chatted with us for a bit which was actually very nice. We ordered sliders, mini beef wellingtons, and a Philly steak sandwich. I felt like they all had a similar taste but the prices seemed fair and the sandwich and sliders came with fries. In town on business and coworkers recommended us out of owners go there for dinner. If I lived here it would be a pass. Ambiance is nice, service was fine. Food was meh. Apps were the best part. Got shrimp and cheesesteak eggs rolls. Both were good. Cesar salad was swimming in dressing and was super salty. The croutons were so chewy after two I avoided the rest. Lots of brown on the lettuce which was also mostly white and almost no green. The bread and butter they brought out were good but the butter had no butter flavor and was white? Then the steak was disappointing to say the least. The salmon one of us got was so small. The Mac and cheese you can avoid it was not good. Mashed potatoes were good and nicely whipped. Asparagus was fine. Biggest thing is most of the items just lacked flavor. For the price I would not be going there if I was a local there has to be better places around. read more

This is a follow-up to my November 4 post about a disappointing experience at Sullivan's Steakhouse. The general manager, Lisa, contacted me via ND after reading my post and asked for a do-over. My friend and I took her up on it, and here's an overview of how it went: The waitresses (the one who served us originally and one who served us on the second visit) went out of their way to be friendly, gracious, and apologetic for what happened previously. Lisa came by our table and chatted, making sure we were taking full advantage of the comp'd happy hour. We sat inside, not wanting to find out if the problem with birds pulling out bits of cotton had been resolved. Drinks and appetizers were very good. (We've been there enough to know what food we like and what to stay away from.) The only negative I can say is that Josh, the manager who was so rude on our earlier visit, did not come over to apologize or even ask if everything was alright, even though he was in the restaurant--the only people who apologized were women, when the original issue lay with a man. So kudos to Lisa for the do-over and major kudos to Nevaeh and our first waitress (I am embarrassed that I can't recall her name, even though I can see her face.) I don't know what to tell you about Josh, but he's not my employee to deal with. read more

The service was beyond slow. While our server was kind, we were checked on infrequently and all of orders took at least 45 minutes. Even getting my soda took 30 minutes. The worst part is that the restaurant was near empty. I understand if staff is hustling on a busy day and things take longer but there was no one. Our tab was over $700 and I think for paying that much, the service needs to be on top of everything. We wanted a picture taken and the waitress seemed very uninterested in interacting with us. Exceptional Thanksgiving dinner that cost $52 per person, less than most restaurants were charging. I figured there was trickery involved. I was right! I fully expected them to try their best to get me to drink alcohol and they did not disappoint. The waiter suggested Rambeur Chardonay, which is $25 a glass, when most glasses were $13 - $15. I ordered a very tasty $13 glass. I had a choice of 4 salads. I chose the Wedge and every restaurant I have ever been to has bacon on the salad, included in the price. The waiter asked me what seemed like an odd question "Do you want bacon?" I said yes. Later when I got my bill my friend's charge was what I expected, $52 and mine was $58. I asked the waiter why the different charge? He said I asked for bacon...it was a $6 upcharge that they tried to hide from the customer. Sneaky! I was not pleased! Service was otherwise very good, the portion was small but tasty. Would have given this restaurant a 5 rating, but I was disappointed in all the price trickery. Doubt I will return. read more

Had a steak and potatoes that were just ok and the potatoes were cold. Also, the key lime pie was terrible. It was an insult to key lime pies everywhere. Take it off the menu or do it right. Honestly, I've never had a lousy dessert at an upper scale restaurant so this was perplexing. Expected so much more for this meal especially at the price point. Also, there was a dress code sign and plenty of people were in jeans. Jeans are plenty appropriate for this place. In addition, my friend was billed for my drink and a side. Wonderful evening catching up with family and it was not busy so we really relaxed and the wait staff took great care of us. We started off with cocktails the spicy margarita was not very spicy the knockout martini was nice refreshing. The oysters were the highlight for me. Very fresh just delicious!! The ahi tuna was nice cooked perfect the sauce around it was not complementing the tuna for my taste buds. The steaks we ordered were cooked to our specifications. Very tender enjoyed them throughly! We splurged and had dessert the banana foster bread pudding was a hit so nice and moist and had that fresh banana taste! I'm so pleased they did not use any artificial flavoring!
