I went to Sullivan for a oil change on my 95 Ford Ranger , they said they could take me in and usually 1hr. Bout 35 mins in receptionist came out and told me they recommended new air filter and if I'd like new one , the cost wasn't extreme so I said sure.. a hour later I was still sitting there.. the gentleman receptionist must have seen my agitation cause he comes out and before he can say anything I shake my head and say "longest oil change ever bro...he says no one came out and told you that O'reilys sent the wrong air filter twice.. I'm like no one has told me sh*t. He apologized profusely and said my car would be ready shortly. I said ok . Finally car is ready 2hrs later.. I go into pay the total I believe 82 dollars and as I pull out my wallet him and the girl say No it's on us.. I was stunned. I said I'd be happy to pay thinking maybe get the air filter comped at the most , which they replayed No sir it's on us , you should have never had to wait that long and we should have made you aware.. no charge .. wow that's good business.. I walked up thinking to pay and I'll never come here again to wow I'll totally come here again. If they'd do that for a 1st time walk in imagine what they'll do for a regular customer. Well to start off with bought news tires not though them because I found better deal on same tires they carry. So I thought I would just have them put them on well they blew out sidewall bead. And on top of that had my rims powdercoated by a good coater well after my new tires was done look at rims with the other tires well they marked up coated rims . Not happy with job they do. Will not go back after they get my new tire in. If you got custom rims and like them suggestions is to go else where if you like your stuff. Pretty upset about this. read more

The staff is always courteous and you can tell they work hard to get you taken care of, even when there's a rush. They also have a lot of seating for those who wish to wait for their cars. I feel like they've always been honest with me, as I had them inspect my daughter's tires and they could have totally upsold me, but they said all were good for another couple of years. That's how you do business in a small community! They also give you all price options and explain the difference to you, if you do have to get tires or other parts. Sullivan's is also a big supporter of local merchants and service organizations. I'm a fan. AMENDED to include: today I had a travel emergency and my car needed a part. The guys at Sullivan's fit me in, got the part from Fresno, and had my car fixed in 3 hours. They even gave me door-to-door service to my home. SO thankful to Sullivan's and how hard they work. They got us in immediately this am and although super busy immediately ran a diagnostic so we knew if we would have to wait a little while or all day. With a 4 year old! I had a good experience at Sullivan's Tire Pros. In this area they had the lowest price for a tire and they took me immediately. I noticed they had other services like wheel alignment and some auto repair. Further they had a large selection of tires on hand and actually had the exact brand and tire that I had blown out. Of course there are drawbacks to being so good. They are very busy. For my one tire there was an estimated 40 minute wait. A lot of people in front of me. But they are in a small mountain town near Yosemite so that is to be expected. Very satisfied though with the job and friendly job associates. read more

I am officially an "out of town person", from the UK, and broke down in Oakhurst on my way back from Yosemite. I left my car at the garage on a Sunday night, out of hours, and received a call at 08.00am on Monday morning with a full diagnosis of the problem. The owner, Mike Sullivan, went above and beyond what you would expect from a garage to ensure that my holiday with my wife and parents in law, combined with a work appointment in San Francisco were not disrupted. We came up to Bass Lake for the weekend, and got an oil change before we left home. The next morning we found the car was leaking oil. I searched on Yelp, and Sullivan's Tire Pro's came up. Someone else had a similar experience, and so I gave them a call. I took the car in, and they found that the previous shop had over tightened the oil filter, causing the leak. They could have charged me the price of a whole new oil change, but I was out the door for just over $6 - they charged me only for the oil filter - no labor. Jim is very polite and professional. Helped me out on a late Saturday afternoon. I was up in forest on a hike and noted a drip from my car. Drove to Oakhurst thinking that I might be leaking oil as the dip stick showed low and I recently changed my own oil. Jim was very kind to check under my car and confirmed the oil plug and filer were OK. The drip was from the AC condenser, which I thought it might be too. My boyfriend's car broke down in Yosemite last Friday night and a tow truck driver was nice enough to drop his car off at Sullivan's. It was extremely difficult to find an auto repair shop in the area that is open on the weekends, and since I don't live in the area, I had an even more difficult time finding one. However, I came across these guys, and although they said they were swamped and probably would not be able to get to my man's car, they quickly got it checked out and solved the issue. I can not say enough about how fantastic these guys are and this shop is. We were on vacation at Bass Lake from Santa Cruz and one of our tires on our dually went flat. The shop was swamped both with customers in the waiting room and non-stop phone calls. The guys were super friendly when we walked in and came right out to take a look at the tire and told us they would do their best to get it looked at as soon as possible. It didn't take long at all and they figured out the problem was the valve stem extender was not on right and the cap on that extender was leaking. They removed the extender and checked all our tires and got it done fast so we could get back to the lake and all for a very small fee. 18 MONTHS AGO I brought our light truck in for a wheel alignment. I was told that the sway bar end links needed replacement - $340. I declined and on the way home heard a rattle coming from the front end. Upon inspection, one of the nuts on the link was loosened. I tightened it and the rattle stopped. YESTERDAY we brought the truck in for another routine alignment and checkup. Mindful of the previous experience, I first checked the sway bar nuts BEFORE taking it in. They were tight. However, I was AGAIN told that the sway bar ends "needed replacement" - for only $240 this time. Again I declined and again I noticed a rattle coming from the front end. Upon inspection I discovered that, again, a (different) mounting nut was loose. I tightened it and the rattle stopped...again. WHAT A COINCIDENCE! It appears that the sway bar link nuts somehow loosen themselves every time I take this vehicle in for an alignment and they ALWAYS CHEERFULLY OFFER TO REPLACE THE COMPLETE LINKS ...for a few hundred bucks of course. Also. We routinely have the tires rotated and they routinely recommend a complete brake job - for "safety reasons". The last rotation was about 4 months ago we took the same vehicle in for a tire rotation and were told that "for safety" we needed a "complete brake job". Upon inspection, I found that the front disc pads and rear drum shoes still retained about 70% of their original thickness, the rotor and drum surfaces were unscored and there was no fluid leakage. In other words, the brakes were in perfect condition. I'm a former mechanic (currently a retired engineer) and have taken my various vehicles to this business FOR TIRES for about 12 years. Through my various organizations I've also recommended it to others. They're probably ok as tire salesmen but as a service shop, they appear to be a MILL-TYPE PARTS REPLACEMENT OPERATION. Follow up: I "reached out" to the owner (Mike Sullivan) yesterday by actually removing the sway bar links (15 min) and taking them back to him to ask if he found anything wrong with them other than the loose nut. They are the original links in the vehicle and appear to be in perfect working condition (tight, smooth, dust boots intact). Defiant and flippant, (i.e."caught"), he finally offered that I had not paid for an "actual diagnosis" by his "experts". I guess the self-serving FALSE diagnosis of a NON-problem, from which he of course planned to profit - twice ...were freebies! I suppose I should be grateful? Remarkable pattern of "coincidences"? OR dishonest and predatory sales practices? FURTHER follow up: I urge everyone (especially mechanics) to read Mike's response carefully and see if it makes any sense and is consistent with your own experiences as to how people react defensively when caught. "Methinks he doth protest too much". Also note that his efforts to "reach out" began NOT after I raised the issue with him personally but only AFTER I wrote this review. Prior to that his attitude was dismissive and terse. To be accurate, the service records he cites are partially correct but edited and incomplete. And notwithstanding the supposed statements of a "link manufacturer" (the one who is, for some odd reason, willing to replace other manufacturers' parts for free ..?) my experiences strongly indicate that the best way to keep the link mounting nuts from loosening is to simply not bring the vehicle to Mike. However, in all fairness, they are very friendly, the office dogs are cute and if what you're looking for is for your wife to come home with a recommendation to replace your engine when all that was wrong was a loose spark plug wire, then this is the place for you. read more

I had something in my tire. They would not fix it, so they put my space saver spare on for only $10. If I let them do what they wanted, I would have had 4 new tires for my all wheel drive truck. So I drove under 50mph to Costco where I bought the tires and they fixed it for free. No new tire needed or a whole set. Saved $800+ read more

Fantastic customer service!!! My family was on the way to Yosemite when we ran into car trouble. Thankfully Sullivans was willing to squeeze us in. We were so grateful as we had three kids with us! Tommy at Sullivan's Tire Pros saved our family's Yosemite Vacation. To make a long story short, I ran over a steel strap and split the sidewall. My son in law helped me put the compact spare on and we drove over to the Wawonna Gas Station. The friendly Delaware North employee recommend Sullivan's tire in Oakhurst. Hats off to him for the referral. When we got to Sullivan's, Tommy looked over the other tires and measured the tread depth. My SUV has full time all wheel drive with traction control, which does not respond well if you have unmatched tires. Fortunately, Tommy located the exact OEM supplied Hancook tire to match the other 3, which were only lightly worn, so I only needed to purchase one new tire, but it was in Fresno. Tommy says no problem, we have a driver leaving shortly to pick up other parts in Fresno. Just leave the rim with me and come back at 4:30 PM. By the way, we have a movie theater just down the street. So the wife and I went down and saw the new Tom Cruise Mission Impossible movie, did some grocery shopping, and returned to Sullivan's. They got us out in less than 20 minutes and we were back to Wawonna just in time to make dinner for the rest of the family. read more

Update; they refunded the money after the inconvenience and poor service which is good service, although it should have never happened that way to begin with but in the end was resolved and I appreciate that service. Very very disappointed for multiple reasons, i have had 3 different incidents involving family and me. Here is one. If you are looking for a reliable honest business that will not do you wrong than go elsewhere, these guys are jokes. Nothing against the people in the garage, but the management and ownership is despicable. My mother called in for a used car inspection to find out what the car needed before we bought the car from a friend, i brought the car in for inspection. I knew the car had a check engine light and the California sate law says the owner must smog car before the sale so I wanted to know why the light was on.When he came back with the results he had nothing but pity answers for me. He informed us of the brakes, shocks ,struts and the normal wear and tear stuff, that was okay. But the pity comes here; Sullivan stated " abs light is on, traction control light is on and the check engine light is on" and yes i have eyes and can see these lights so my next question I asked was what are the codes that are causing the lights? He refused to read the codes for the lights and acted as if it costed more to read the codes. Since i knew that 100$ was plenty enough to read codes and i was charged a full hour of labor when the inspection took well under 35 min, after we argued for about 10 min Sullivan's answer was " Your mom wanted a used car inspection so she knows what the car needs and didn't ask me to read the codes, and besides you cant buy it anyways because it wont pass smog with the check engine light" at this point he made himself look very dumb and dirty. I looked at him like I wasn't stupid. My reply was " you just said it yourself, my mom needs to know what the owner needs to do before she can sell the car, which you just stated cant be done because the check engine light is on and you wont read it for me?(me looking very appalled again and confused that i payed 100$ just so Sullivan could tell me i had a check engine light, abs light and traction control light on and not read the code to tell me what was really wrong with the car) He looked at me with the oh dang he caught me lying, he knows what he's talking about look and says "fine" and handed the code reader from underneath the counter in the front office to one of the workers and said " go read the code". It took less than 5 min to come back with answer " mass air flow sensor", and he did not read the other codes. It took 10 min of arguing to get 5 min of work i payed for and at that point I knew what the car needed to smog and didn't want to bother arguing with Sullivan again to read the other 2 lights. I took my receipt and told myself id never come back here again and i walked out. Upon later evaluation I found more about the bad used car write up. The traction control light that was on was a signal light to tell you that the traction control was on and if you hit the button the light goes off. Also they stated that the convertible top motor didn't work but it works just fine. The test driver was just too dull minded to know it cant be in gear when you move the top up or down and that the traction control light goes off with the flick of a button. Turns out the mass airflow sensor was unplugged, i plugged it in and the check engine light went off. After all this the only thing i could dread to think was how much were they gonna charge to fix the things that didn't even need to be fixed?? Horrible ownership/management and the funny part is this is just one incident! Save money and know your not getting screwed by going elsewhere. Hopefully all viewers take my advice on going elsewhere and hopefully this business takes this review seriously and acts more professional. Sierra automotive will not screw you! read more

I cannot believe the condition this so called mechanical shop sent my vehicle back out on the road. I had a head gasket go out on a small Nissan RV and these guys said they could fix it. Once they got the head off and determined it was indeed the head gasket I was told I needed to find somewhere to go and wait until it was fixed. So I did. Went all the way to Fresno and got a room and waited. I waited a week and they still had done NOTHING! No big deal I was paying serious $$$ for a room everyday while they lied to me about what was going on. To make a long story short...my rv sat in their shop for 10 days waiting for a new head to be put back on. I finally had enough and demanded they get it fixed and I was coming back to make sure it did get done as they were lying to me everyday when I would ask what had been done. I was there 3 days while this so called mechanic struggled to put a head back on a small 4 cylinder. How anyone can call this guy a mechanic is beyond me. The hour before they closed for Memorial Day weekend they backed my rv out of the shop and told me it fixed. Warranty on the receipt said guaranteed for 12,000 miles or 12 months...whatever came first. The next day...300 miles down the road from their shop I parked it and went into a place to have lunch. When I came out, there was a huge puddle of oil under my engine. I starter trying to determine the source, had to take apart a lot of the pieces to get to the issue. In the process, this is what I discovered I had paid $2100 for. The oil filter had never been tightened and was dripping oil. This so called mechanic had broken a steel hose attachment on my power steering reservoir. Power steering fluid was leaking all over the engine and ground...and needless to say I now had no power steering. The distributor had been put back in wrong as this so called mechanic got the timing gears and chain installed wrong, and the distributor was unable to be advanced at all..it was already maxxed out as far as movement and adjust ability. A serious issue to say the least. My egr hose was not connected on either end...I found it laying loose on top of my intake manifold. The exhaust manifold had one of the front nuts loose..finger loose. Explained the increasing exhaust leak I was hearing for so long. Hose clamps were gone..missing..never replaced...hoses just slid on and left. The valves were ticking so bad I was very concerned it would not make back it back to their shop to fix. This was Sunday and I had to wait until Tuesday for anyone to show up at Sullivans again. When I did call, I got hold of Brian and told him everything I just explained here. He never apologized or anything, instead immediately tried getting out of me bringing the rv back to get fixed properly. He ended up telling me after 30 minutes of being on the phone I had no warranty because they do not guarantee work on rv's. I was assured before I left I did...it is written right on my receipt. Brian assured me that such was not the case...I had nothing warranty wise regardless of what my receipt said. The entire 30 minutes on the phone..he was trying everything he could to get out of their responsibility to fix it properly. He actually hung up on me when I demanded to speak with someone else who actually knew something about honesty and integrity. Apparently there was no one there by that description. Not one person returned my call there. If that is not stealing from someone, I do not know what you would call it. All I encountered there was lies and excuses and the worst service I have ever encountered anywhere in 56 years. I was assured they could fix something like a head gasket, but never told their so called mechanic would struggle to put a new one in over a 10 day period. And that he had no clue how to put a timing chain and gears back together properly. Not sure how someone dares calls them self a mechanic after the sloppy mess he left me to fix. Seriously! I would not trust him to check the pressure in my tires to be perfectly honest. read more
