Hands-down the greatest meal I've ever had in my life, no exaggeration. My main entree was the Wild Boar Ragu Cavatelli.

Sulmona is a great place to get dinner with friends. We ordered the following: Panzerotti -- potato fried with cheese. Pretty good, but I think the potatoes should be seasoned better. Good with the tomato sauce though. Amatriciana -- this is pasta with a tomato sauce. Pretty good. My pasta was quite al dente, perhaps a bit too much? The sauce was tarty -- it needed something to cut that tomatoey tarty taste. Bucateli -- pretty good, came w some great cheese Fattoria Chianti -- tart but paired well with the panzerotti and the bucatelli. Not great with the Amatriciana Flourless cake -- excellent hazelnuts and gelato yum! Table service was good. Would have appreciated them wiping down our table after mains. If I crave Italian and don't want to go to North end, and want a quick last minute reservation, I'd go back to Sulmona. But it's not the best italian food in town. read more

We came here mostly just for drinks. Cocktails were very well made. My favorite was the Rosa , loved it! We did end up ordering a pizza , the Pettorano. Delicious- fresh ingredients in a brick oven bake, can't go wrong with that. I plan to come back here to try more food. Special shout out for the great service! read more

Within this past week I ordered the pasta carbonara and got food poisoning - stomach cramps right away, vomiting shortly after. Expected much more but food was meh for the price. From the outside upon the initial entrance a trendy atmosphere is felt. The greeters and host were very kind and friendly. Our waitress was knowledgeable and the brunch menu had breakfast staples as well as eclectic options. The orders came out quickly and honestly the food was delicious, well made and seemingly very fresh. The portions size was huge! Theres a full bar and multiple single room bathrooms. I definitely recommend checking this place out. Also very kid friendly there was a child sitting at an adjacent table & he was given pizza dough to occupy his time which I thought was a nice touch in showing a welcoming vibe to all ages! read more

The food at Sulmona was absolutely delicious and it had a nice ambiance too. I went with my partner for a celebratory dinner and we were excited to have a nice meal- which we did with the burrata, homemade pasta, the bread pudding dessert special, and really great espresso martinis. Unfortunately, the service was very poor. Our server was inattentive from the beginning, but it got worse as the meal went on. We had to ask for a dessert menu, and then waited over 30 minutes before my partner had to get up to ask for our order to be taken, after our server took the orders of everyone around us and seemed to ignore our attempts to call her over. It took another 20 minutes for the dessert to come. I have never left a negative review in my life but it was upsetting that the service put such a damper on our evening out, especially when everything else about the restaurant was great. read more

Came here last night with my roommate and we split Caesar salad, spaghetti a nonna, and a margherita pizza. The food was incredibly delicious and fresh and my roommate and I agreed that the pizza was one of the best margherita pizzas we had had in a long time! The restaurant has a nice vibe. However the service was all over the place. They were friendly and attentive when we sat down, but disappeared for long stretches of time. We didn't order for a half hour and the food took even longer. We estimated being there for an hour, it took two and we ended up with a $25 parking ticket! They were nice to ask about allergies and added little Italian flags to our food, which apparently signify peanut allergy. Overall, a great experience and I will return, but I will put more money in the meter and come when I'm not in a rush. read more

I would return here ANY day to enjoy the grilled bistecca ($19) that I ate while meeting a friend for lunch. This is one of the best meals I've had in a while -- the beef was tender and flavorful, the menu hadn't mentioned the awesome mushrooms that came on top of the kale, and the fries were pure perfection. Our service was a tad too earnest and serious (although that may be preferable to flippant and too joke-y), and the waitress did not check on us at proper intervals (we were well into our meals when she came by to see if everything had come out alright), but the meal was so good that I am not subtracting a star. The atmosphere of the restaurant is also great - lots of natural light, cool bar area. And the chocolate hazelnut cake with gelato ($10) was a perfect way to end the meal. Overall, a solidly excellent experience. If you are in Cambridge, this restaurant is worth seeking out. read more

Stumbled into this place got Sunday brunch after the place that had been recommended was too backed up to be worth the wait. Only a bit away was this amazing find! My wild mushroom, kale and goat cheese omelette was perfection! My husband's Italian hungry man' breakfast was fantastic. Every morsel was gone! Terrific service, lovely atmosphere. What a find! After being ignored by Cafe Luna next door when I asked how long the wait was for two, my boyfriend and I walked over here to check it out. Luna's loss was our gain. There is ample outdoor seating, and the service was prompt and friendly. They obliged my request for a brunch mocktail (blood orange juice with some seltzer) and brought my boyfriend another iced coffee with no issues when his was too sweet. The wait for the food was abnormally long, which is tough when it's pushing 1 and you haven't eaten yet, but we didn't regret the wait when we dove into the frittata. It's one of the best I've ever had. Very fresh and light with lots of yummy herbs and fresh veggies. I had the sausage and provolone panini special, which I thought was good until I ate the frittata. We ended up sharing it with some breakfast potato sides and taking half the panini to go. It's the star of the show. The dinner menu sounds delicious and we'll definitely try it out next time we're in the area. For sure we'll be back for the frittata. read more

Sulmona looks so promising and the interior is so industrial and beautiful, but the food and execution just did not deliver. A group of 3 co-workers ordered all the street food appetizers for $12 each: the ARANCINI was a classic risotto ball stuffed and deep fried, but nothing special. They are larger than your classic arancini, so this is ideal to share. The LAMB SKEWERS came in an order of 5 with a side of toasted mini baguettes. The FRIED ARTICHOKES were almost inedible because they fried the entire artichoke, and the leaves were so fried that it nearly cut your throat when you swallowed it! I now understand why artichokes dishes only use the heart. None of their appetizers stood out as a dish I would want to order again. My favorite dish was the FUNGHI PIZZA ($17) - the wild mushroom, white sauce, and a blend of cheese made this a very savory pizza and enough to share between 3 people. However, for the price tag and size for an 8 slice pizza, you're better off going to Area Four down the street, where this is their specialty. The location of Sulmona is just unfortunate. They have wide windows that open onto the street, but is right above the red line underground which screeches and releases a lot of hot air. Because it is located nearby the hub of biotech & pharma in KSQ, it may not be ideal for a business lunch since it tends to get very loud with the outside distractions. read more

Is the food amazing here? yes you can't go wrong it's delicious. is the environment good? yes the vibes are fun and upbeat and it's still an intimate setting. What makes this place better than the rest? plain and simple, the server Daniel. As we entered the restaurant I heard someone remark the service was impeccable but I didn't think much of it until we met our server Daniel. He was so wonderful, kind, funny, and attentive. He joked with us, offered help on choosing items from the menu that was invaluable and was overall an absolute pleasure to be around. He never made us feel like a burden or stressor even when we had overstayed our welcome as they were closing. He was so kind and fun he was a joy to be around and deserves so much praise. The restaurant was good but it was the excellent (and lightning fast) service from Daniel that makes this restaurant a must go to! We first heard about Sulmona on Saturday morning watching the Phantom Gourmet on tv. The food looked just so good that we couldn't resist and decided to go that very night for dinner! The parking wasn't too bad. Being down in the MIT / Kendall area it was better than I expected. They don't have their own parking lot but when we were down there Saturday night we were able to find street parking fairly close to the restaurant. When we got there at 8:15pm there was still a 45 minute wait. I'd recommend getting a reservation. It was ok though, we went to the bar and got some cocktails, which were delicious. We probably only waited about 25 minutes before our table was ready. We were able to transfer the drinks to the table without having to settle up at the bar which was awesome. We ordered the Sunday Meat Sauce for an appetizer, Abruzzi pizza and Carbonara for dinner, and the Joey Bag of Donuts for dessert. We also had quite the selection of Italian wines by the glass for dinner too! Everything was excellent for the most part. The drinks, appetizer, and dessert were all phenomenal and blew us away. We were a little disappointed with our dinner selections. The pizza was fine, except the broccoli rabe was just a bit heavy but at least it was easy enough to pick around. The carbonara though was a little off tasting. It was definitely al dente which probably added to the off taste but it wasn't as good as we imagined. I got the porcetta hash and the Margarita pizzette which were both amazing. Service was very nice, but never refilled the coffee the entire time without explicitly asking. Not very loud, which makes for good conversation. Probably not a great date spot because the lighting is a bit bright (which isn't bad in general just better for a business dinner or something). For us, this was supposed to be a fancy treat. If you're looking for high-quality cuisine, save your money and head elsewhere. My partner and I both ordered pasta dishes, and they were both terrible. Like, actually awful, and my partner basically never complains about food. He had the Carbonara, which came out cold, dry, and generally not delicious. I ordered a dish with Linguine and Clams, which tasted rancid. I'm actually impressed neither of us got food poisoning, especially after reading some of the reviews on Google. When I asked for grated cheese, the server returned with a shaker of pre-grated cheese like what you'd find at a cheap pizza parlor. This is at a place where the pasta dishes all cost between $20 and $25. The servers were kind and professional, for their part, but weren't educated about the menu whatsoever. Again, that sort of thing would be fine at places with $9 entrees, but for a place this fancy...upon delivering the food, the server said "Linguine?" and delivered the carbonara to me, and vis versa for my partner. read more

Sulmona is a relatively new restaurant in the ever growing Kendall Square area. They serve traditional Italian fair with a gourmet twist. The vibe and space is very modern (I loved the Vespa suspended from the ceiling). We had a group of 16 which can often mean a dip in service and quality of food, however, everything was great. Our table order several appetizers including mouthwatering lamb kabobs (and I'm not even a big lamb fan), plus grilled calamari, arancini, and panzerotti. All were very tasty. Even though we had 16 people, we all ordered either the wild boar ragu or the abruzzi pizza. Both were well executed and very flavorful. We ended with sampling several desserts, with the favorites being the "bag of donuts" and the chocolate hazelnut cake (still thinking about that cake). All in all, I think it was a great experience, especially for a relatively new restaurant. read more

Sulmona is *fine* but most definitely not destination dining. It wins major points on the interior, which is very cool. However, I sat by the windows, and when they are open, you can hear the train go by underground every few minutes. It's pretty distracting, and I don't think the owners realized how loud it would really be. I also think the food is too pricey for what it is, combined with a not so great location. I'll break down the experience I had here during a busy lunch hour: 1) AMBIANCE: The good. The restaurant is very beautiful--marble floors, high ceilings, very art deco. I was not bothered by the sounds of the train, as other reviewers have noted. 2) SERVICE: Our server, while quite nice and checking in frequently, messed up our order quite badly. We ordered an appetizer and two panini, one with a side salad and one with fries. No appetizer ever appeared, and both paninis came with salads. We couldn't wait for them to make an appetizer/fries, since we were on a pretty tight schedule. 3) FOOD: Not bad, but not great. The panini was greasy but perfectly edible. It needed salt--the only problem being that Sulmona doesn't have regular salt shakers. They have little bowls with tiny spoons to dish out your salt, and these I found quite impossible to use without covering the table with salt. I didn't mind, but it must be a headache for the people who need to clean the place. BOTTOM LINE: I'd definitely be willing to come back, once I see more consistent reviews about the food quality. As it stands right now, I won't be returning. What a shame! read more

However it still took awhile for a bartender to stop and ask us for our drink order... Then never came back to ask us about food, though we asked for menus and told him we were looking to order.
