This is a GOATED establishment, and not just because they probably serve goat meat. A total hidden gem. You would never know from walking by that they have an incredible outdoor seating area. The prices, especially for vegetarians, are incredible. I remember getting a full container of rice, tabouli, and multiple falafels for under ten dollars. My lovely wife and I recently made our first visit to this Sultan's Market location near the California Blue Line stop. OK technically this was our second appearance - but the first time we visited there was some REALLY LOUD MUSIC going on in an adjacent space so we declined to eat there that day. This time it was much more peaceful, and it was all about the food. We ordered the kefta kabob dinner and some appetizers for a satisfying weekend meal (late lunch or early dinner - you pick). The minced lamb and beef pieces are tasty and came with pita, tomato, onion, as well as rice, hummus and tabuli salad. We also split the triangular baked spinach pie, as well as two delicious pieces of falafel. There was a water station with cups to whet our whistle. I'd recommend eating at Sultan's Market for a quick and yummy Middle Eastern meal, but hopefully there is not any super loud music goin' on. read more

Truly don't know how this place gets any less than 4 stars max. It gets a 5/5 for me! I've been here maybe 6-7 times by now and every single entree and experience here has been great. They have an outdoor seating area which is secluded and cute, plus seating inside and free glasses of water. They have a BYO salad bar as well if nothing on the menu calls to you (how can it not though?). I without a doubt get the chicken shawarma dinner every time. They are so awesome they let me customize it every time. I typically replace the rice with tabouli salad for a less carb-y meal, however their rice/lentils are DELICIOUS. Their hummus is creamy and fresh, and I love their garlic sauce and spicy sauce so much I wish they came in a slightly bigger container. The falafel SMACKS too, I'm dying to try more of their things but for some reason I'm a huge chicken shawarma girly and always opt in for that. They are not shy with the portion size, I don't think I've ever finished my meal in one sitting (this is a great thing). Reasonably priced, too. Their staff is accommodating and nice as well. So delicious! Everything we ordered was so tasty and fresh. I can't believe I forgot to take photos! I did an online order for pickup. I arrived before the promised time and had to wait a little bit for my order to be ready. Since all the food is pretty much made it was done in just a few minutes. We ordered two Chicken Shawarma Dinners and one Chicken Shawarma sandwich. Pricing was more than fair, and you get a lot of food. The dinners came with curry rice, hummus, pita bread, tabuli, a hot sauce and garlic sauce. Everything tasted fresh and overall a very filling dish. The chicken shawarma was seasoned perfectly and the rice was very flavorful. I will definitely be returning. Might have to make Sultans my go to whenever I'm craving chicken shawarma. read more

Love the vibe of this new location! The OG Sultan's location by Damen (Blue Line) Wicker Park has been a known go-to for affordable and good Mediterranean. Think hummus and a chicken shawarma pita and a little baklava for dessert. This new Logan Square storefront by California (Blue Line) expands that, and I'm impressed this family run place keeps going. (read their family story on their website--the owner couldn't afford a restaurant herself until she was 18!) They told me that this new spot has been open for six months during COVID. Congrats to them for launching during the pandemic. Currently (March 2021 - they had togo and some limited, spaced-out indoor seating. Staff were wearing masks). The design is great. Less of the crowded convenience store and a little more atmosphere, with blue tile, copper lanterns, and smoked-filled art. Love it. This place is still more quick-bite, but I could see it also being a casual date place if you BYO. A new outdoor patio looks like it will double the size of the space, and the way it runs along the indoor seating, I think I definitely want to be back for summer. read more

It's normally not dry like this at the other location so we were disappointed. The hummus was really good though, it was so smooth and flavorful. We also enjoyed the lentil soup. The prices are good too! The patio at this location is seriously a hidden GEM. Walking by you wouldn't think there is a spacious, lush rooftop patio, but there is! There is plenty of seating too. Sultans Market never disappoints. Last night we ordered a takeout feast. The staff is super friendly which we value, and they have tons of vegan options. I got the vegetarian combo plate which comes with falafel (I think the best in the city), hummus, tabuleh salad and rice. All delicious. Kids got lamb schwarma and meat combo. I love that they love it and it actually fills them up (teens). We had a snafu with husbands order and they didn't include his falafel sandwich but the restaurant had amazing customer service recovery and brought it over to our house even though we did pickup for the initial order. Maybe because I live in Andersonville where residents are spoiled for choice when it comes to great middle eastern and mediterranean food, but I thought Sultan's Market was disappointing. I got delivery when I was at work and it was actually pretty terrible. The za'atar bread I ordered was clearly days old as it was so hard I could knock on the table with it. I warmed it up in the microwave to soften it and the flavor was actually really good. The baba ganoush however was inedible. It was super thick and gloopy. I've never seem baba like that before. It didn't taste great and I ended up throwing it out. The falafel was meh. Pretty dry and not great flavor. I gave two stars though because the curry basmati was good and the tabouli was surprisingly fresh (compared to the other food I got) and delicious. read more

Mark down Mr. Creosote as a big fan. The lamb shawerma is full-flavored and crispy lamb meat, not greek-style ground gyros (I love that style too, but believe me, this is better). A pita stuffed absolutely full with lamb, then more gorgeous sauces and toppings was only $7. Same for the chicken pita. Nice baklava and some other desserts, too. If Sultan's could simply take the time to assure that they pack their orders correctly and not forget items and then, when they mess up, both not argue with the customer and not refund the money they'd warrant 4 stars. But treating customers with dismissive contempt, by not acknowledging a simple mistake of not completing an order, shows a fundamentally dismissive attitude to their trade. To then promise a refund , but instead complete the full charge on the missing item, is abusive contempt. Best to avoid this restaurant. read more

The environment is absolutely beautiful but it's the worst middle eastern food I've ever had. I wanted so badly to like it but everything was stale, cold and poorly seasoned. I was a HUGE fan of the sultans market on North ave and would order almost weekly! So I was excited to see a new location closer to me but the new location in Logan square is awful! I would have stuck with the north ave location but Grubhub would no longer let me select that location for Dilivery. I've tried to love this location and even gave it over 5 chances. My Dilivery order is ALWAYS wrong. Usually sultan's Falafel are bright green and delicious however the falafel from this location is tasteless and beige. The tabbouleh from this location is never consistent and typically so soggy it's inedible! The last time I ordered the game me line with both meals??? WHYYYYY??? (typically it's a lemon) I know they have it in them to be delicious but the lack of consistency is why I will no longer order from here. SO SAD! read more

Disappointing experience last night. We first went to the North Avenue location to discover it was closed (weird for 6:00pm on a Sunday) so we decided to head over to the Logan Square store for our first time at that spot. Friend ordered the lamb dinner, I got the chicken shawarma dinner. Food was ready pretty quick and we sat down in the stark dining area with eager anticipation. Within the first couple of bites we were both pulling grizzle from our mouths as both meats were poorly trimmed. The curry rice was tastily seasoned, but the peas and carrots were cold, seemed like they had just dumped a bowl of cold veggies into the rice. Ugg, I guess bad timing that the veggies hadn't had time to warm up when they scooped our portions. Menu offers a swap out of the tabuli for baba ganuj, I'm glad I took that option. I tasted my friend's tabuli, it was meh, pretty much a bunch of chopped up parsley. But the baba ganuj was some of the best I've ever tasted. That and the fresh, warm pita offered at least some salvation to an otherwise mediocre meal. read more

I love sultan market, their food is always fresh and tasty. Usually get it from their location on North but this time wanted to try the logan one.
