Ordered the " falarma" sandwich (half falafel + half chicken shawarma) and I highly recommend it! It normally comes with babaganouj but I got mine with both hummus and babaganouj (they accidentally put hummus in it instead of babaganouj which they added later when I pointed it out) and it was really good. The falafel was tasty and the texture was really nice ~ not dry and not overcooked. The chicken was juicy. And the pita bread was nicely soft and chewy (not dry like most pitas I've had). Inside was spacious and bright; perfect for a casual meal. The tables could've been slightly cleaner but not bad. Also, they have a small parking lot which is super convenient. This used to be a place that I came for a lunch regularly when it first opened years ago. Not only do they not have a drink machine that was out for a very, very long time and is now completely ripped out, they also don't really keep the place that clean. The tables are never wiped down. The staff is rude and not super accommodating. They are always also out of a ton of stuff. It looks like the place is ready to shut down. There is a lack of concern for walk-in customers, and they may do better as a to go only restaurant. As we were leaving, my mother asked if they had straws and the young lady with a ponytail that was the cashier for the day, replied shortly in tone and rudely "no". I've then proceeded to ask her that in the future when speaking to somebody's mother to try saying no ma'am or no, we don't unfortunately. She said whatever and I left it at that. I would never recommend this location. I highly recommend heading to Greektown for authentic Mediterranean food, The new spot on Fulton market Lyra, or even roti which is right across the street where you can actually get your moneys worth and when they say you can add anything you want they mean it. Their chicken shawarma is the most flavorful and juicy chicken I've ever had!! I was very impressed especially since we came on a Wednesday night around 6:30pm, there was almost nobody in there, but the food was still so fresh. The sandwich comes with garlic yogurt, pickles, and chopped tomatoes. It had plenty of chicken but not overly stuffed where everything falls out. The seasoning tasted familiar but different, reminiscent of Indian style spices. I was really surprised by the chicken shawarma and am officially a fan. The pita bread even tasted a little buttery although I don't think others was any butter in it. Parking here is super convenient since they have a parking lot. Very disappointing. Very. I had lentil soup and a falafel sandwich. The lentil soup was flavored water. They were apparently at the bottom of the pot and didn't mind serving it up anyway. The falafel sandwich was ice cold. The falafels were not freshly cooked and had obviously been sitting there chilling until someone came in to order them. they should be freshly fried. I mean there's already a lot of these fast food chipotle/subway like Mediterranean joints around town, but I'm glad my wife convinced me to try this place out. OMG offers a plate where you can choose what kind of meat you want and then three sides. I chose hummus, tabbouli salad and basmati rice. For my meat I opted for their steak shawarma. My wife ordered their chicken shawarma. The plates were filling and came with pita bread. I usually use the pita bread to create a sandwich and put everything in there. Everything also tasted fresh and the steak was tender. They even had a special, buy one plate get second half off. Such a great deal and even better when you aren't expecting it. Early afternoon on a Saturday and they were out of Lavash and Cauliflower (they didn't make any). The steak Kabsa comes with chickpeas pilaf and I asked if I could sub with couscous. The gentleman was super nice and said we don't normally but will do this time since I was a new customer when I placed the order. But later when the female staff was putting my order together, she kept saying no we don't do that and rolling her eyes at me. Seems to me she was pissed at the world today. Finally she said we don't do it one more time, but that she would do it this time. I finally said, if you don't then don't do it. ‍. I also had to ask her about the almonds that it was suppose to be finished off with. The ground beef (Beef kabob) comes with seasoned cauliflower and they decided to substitute it with Mediterranean salad without asking. I only noticed because I didn't see cauliflower.... A once tasty Middle-East inspired restaurant has lost its way. They once had a delicious Farro side that they eliminated. Since then, they've also started serving fatty chicken and bizarrely spiced beef. Their once tasty Mediterranean salad now looks like it was prepared by someone who was given only a partial explanation of what it's supposed to be (see the picture). Rather than finely chopped vegetables (tomato and cucumber), the vegetables are the size of quarters, and it doesn't taste very good. Perhaps most strangely, their once-great pickles are now awful. Last, and most frustratingly, if you order one of the special meal deals from Olive's website, not all of the information is sent to the restaurant. And then it's incumbent on the customer to make sure they get their entire order. This isn't how things are supposed to work. Despite trying to support local businesses, the social contract is that those local businesses continue serving their quality products to supportive customers. I was coming from across the country to host a luncheon for a client. I couldn't find what I needed on the website so I called the restaurant and they connected me with the owner who helped coordinate the details. During the entire planning process, the staff was extraordinarily communicative and accommodating. The delivery driver was extremely experienced, even calling me to coordinate the delivery, ultimately pivoting to a new drop off location because he was aware of parking difficulties that this out-of-towner hadn't realized. Once the food was set up and the client team came for lunch, we had excellent feedback with the team manager exclaiming, "You spoiled us! You went all out!" The food was delicious, and the team complimented the quality multiple times during lunch, asking where we'd ordered from so that they could eat there with their families. I will absolutely be visiting again when I'm back in town and would highly recommend this to anyone looking for no-hassle catering that's guaranteed to please for your next event. read more

This place is delicious! The food is so much better in person than it looks in photos. I loved it and would go back here. They let you mix and match with the sauce, base, meat, and vegetables. We got to try the yogurt, hummus, Tabbouleh, Chicken Shawarma, and fuhl's gold (chickpeas). Everything was so good- it was fresh and so flavorful. I'm really happy I found this place because it's such a good price too and it would be my go to place if I lived in this area. You seriously can't go wrong with it. It's authentic too and everything compliments each other so well. A small side note- the founder on their webpage has a cool backstory and seems so genuine and it's reflected in his food and the quality of it. This is a local business- support it!! Olive Mediterranean gives Naf Naf, Roti, and every other fast/casual Mediterranean restaurant a run for their money! Olive is fast, friendly, and delicious! They have more protein and side options than Naf Naf, which is my usual grab and go Mediterranean place. The slight down side is that they don't have very many sauce options: just a jalapeño and tahini sauce. What they lack in sauce options, they make up for in flavor. The food is already tender and bursting with flavor, so I quickly got over not having a garlic sauce. The menu isn't overwhelming like Roti's, and they staff was ready and willing to break the menu down to assure that you enjoy your meal. I'll definitely be back! read more

I enjoy the food. I got the Steak Sharwma bowl with two sides of hummus. On this particular trip they included a lot of hummus (love that), but I got quite a few pieces of steak that were fatty and I didn't want to eat. The meals are reasonably priced and I found it feeling. This place is EXACTLY what this area needed: a delicious, healthy, casual lunch option in the North and Clybourn corridor. I was so tired of going to NYC Bagel Deli (though it's also delicious), but I am really glad Olive is there now. It has an assembly line-style food service similar to Chipotle, Subway, etc. You can get a sandwich or a rice bowl (or a trio of salads, as I did) with your choice of meat. The selection isn't huge, but it's a good selection and everything I tried was super fresh and tasty. They have a small seating area, as well, for those of us (*cough* me *cough*) who can never wait to get food home before scarfing it down, or you can do takeout.
