I've been a regular client at Sumi lashes in Hacienda Heights for quite some time. My lash technician most likely went on a trip for the summer because her next availability is in August, and that definitely would not have worked for me because I needed to get my lashes done pronto. I decided to book an appointment at Sumi Lash in Pasadena due to its close proximity to my house. To be honest, I was a bit nervous after reading all the negative reviews. Everything from how the lashes were not long lasting to how their eyes burned during the application process made me wanted to cancel my appointment, but I really needed to get my lashes done for the weekend so the desperate side of me decided to stick to it. I had initially made my appointment with a tech by the name of Cindy for 9:30am, but then I received a text notification that my appointment was updated to 10:00am with Tina. The day before the appointment, I received another text from Sumi asking if I would be able to come in at 10:15am instead, which I was okay with. I am very familiar with the area so I found the place and parking without any issues. I arrived on time and only waited about 5 minutes for Tina. The check in process is all the same for all Sumi locations - check in on an ipad with your phone number. Tina was very friendly, and went over styles with me. There was some burning from the glue but it wasn't too unbearable. I was done in about an hour for a full set of Volume Wispy lashes. The total including tips cost me about $160+. The verdict: I was VERY happy with how my lashes came out. It's been two weeks and I still have the full set of lashes. I am glad I did not back out of my appointment after reading some of the negative reviews, and I do plan on scheduling my next appointment soon for a fill.

Came here because of the recommendation and really got disappointed. I had mega lashes. first of all it took the technician more then 2 and a half hours to do . and then they all fall out in two week. This is Absolutely not acceptable! My lashes usually stays on for more then a month. This kind of service is bad.

First time visiting Sumi lashes, my experience was so great Tina is so sweet and hardworking, the atmosphere is peaceful, clean and beautiful. I have eye irritation because of the glue fumes no matter where I go but she made everything possible to make me as comfortable it can be, I'm grateful The style design poster they have is genius, it's much easier to understand the result that way anddd she also wrote down the formula she used to make my design on my card. The prices are fair for this service, it's not easily affordable for me but I'd rather go here and get the best service than save money and be disappointed lol RECOMMEND

Staff was friendly and welcoming. The place is also clean and well kept. My only issue is with the lashes. I'm happy with the appearance of my lashes, but during the appointment I noticed that my eyes would sometimes burn and my eyelids felt pretty uncomfortable. When I opened my eyes after the service was complete, my right one was red. The staff put eye drops, which helped soothe the redness but waking up today my eyes are still really red and feel tender. Also upon looking closely at my lashes, they seem to be glued very near my lash line if not literally on it. This is causing a lot of discomfort and I'm contemplating getting them removed elsewhere. Overall, I'm glad that the staff are nice and the place is clean but the aftermath of the lash application has greatly affected my experience and review.

It was a bumpy start but it worked out beautifully. I had made my appointment through the website. I received an email confirmation so I thought all good, it went through. I arrive at my appointment with Tao and she's finishing a client. She said my appointment was cancelled. I did not cancel my appointment. She was gracious and asked me to wait a few minutes. The client she was finishing wanted a discount on her lashes. Tao said the discount is $15 off of products not services. The client then argues with her about her lashes being too full and long. (I think she was gunning for another angle for a discount) Tao handled it graciously. At this point I'm wondering if I made a bad decision. However, my schedule was tight, I needed the service and the Yelps were good, so I practiced patience. The events happening with that other client had nothing to do with me. When it was time for my service I had photos to show the look I wanted. Years ago at another lash place and came out looking Vegas show girl. Every time I blinked it was like lifting barbell weights on my lids. We discussed using sensitive glue, natural lashes and the size and gradation. Size 9 in the inner lid to 11 in the middle and 13 on the ends to give a bit of a cat eye. (I've added a photo that Tao took after service). Ask her for a pic, she uses a nice filter! I received a $50 off first time coupon which was great! I paid $65 and the quality is better that the Groupon offer for classic synthetic lashes, so I recommend, if you are reading this and considering a Groupon, (I always cross reference deals with Yelp reviews), book your service directly, and word to the wise, when you get the confirmation email, open it and confirm so they don't cancel your appointment.

Allysun is magic, NO BURNING! Love my new lash extensions! Seriously it was my first time with her and I was in awe of how meticulous and detailed she was. Even at the end she took her time with the fan and I think that really helped with preventing that burning sensation I usually get. Besides that, she's so attentive and makes sure you're comfy before getting started. This is my second time at Sumi and unfortunately forgot the name of the first girl that did my lashes, but she also did amazing. PARKING I go on weekdays so the parking is pretty straightforward in the lot! It's free for the first 90minutes (careful of the spots marked as only 20minutes) Overall, my new go to for lashes in Pasadena!

So I have been sitting on getting eyelash extensions for some time now. I have read every review. Good and the bad. I took a chance and booked an appt with Tao. I am so glad I did. I had so many questions. I was nervous because I was afraid my eyes would burn from the glue, An allergic reaction, and I wasn't sure if I could keep my eyes closed that long while awake. Let me tell you. Tao is so kind, answered all of my questions, went back and forth with me on which style I wanted (I was so indecisive), she was so patient and most importantly made me feel confident and comfortable in my decision. She truly put me at ease. It was an easy process from start to finish. The check in. Choosing your style. The maintenance. The time flew by. I think I might have even dozed off. The place is quaint and clean. The end result sealed the deal for me. I am glowing. If you are on the fence about getting eyelashes, I really think you should consider it and I highly recommend Tao. She is an artist.

Studio was nice and workers were friendly. I had a not so great experience with my first time here. Left feeling okay about the look... Then over time started to realize that some parts of the lashes were glued so close to my lash line that it was pretty painful and caused redness/swelling (see pics). I had to use tweezers to pluck some off that were rubbing into my eye, which helped a lot, but noticed that the glue was really easy to pull off. Pretty expensive for the quality imo.

Tao's the best and you can tell she has so much experience - when I first made an appointment with her she told me a different lash style suits me better and it really did. Tao always does a great job with my lashes; I have been seeing her for a little over a year (since she worked at the San Gabriel location), and I have been happy with the result every single time! Figuring out which style I like most has been a bit of a challenge, so I highly recommend doing your research and coming in with a game plan. Tao's work always looks amazing and lasts a long time. I go in for refills at 4 weeks and my lashes look great up until a couple days before my refill appointment. I was pretty nervous the first time I went in to get my lashes done, but Tao was gentle and the whole process was actually pretty relaxing. Now I look forward to my appointments because it's rare that I have an hour to just lay back and relax, plus I love their spa music :-) The new Pasadena location is located right off Lake and there are a ton of great restaurants and shops nearby. There is a parking lot with free parking for 90 minutes during the day and there is no cost after 5pm. I will definitely keep coming back and seeing Tao! read more

So let me just start by saying all the pros because every business deserves a fair chance. I was so excited to have a lash place so close to my office & stop by after work to get my lashes done, & support a local business. The scheduling process was pretty easy & they have a variety of services. After researching the different services I booked myself a 2D wispy NEW CLIENT deal. It's a very clean location & friendly technicians. That's about all the nice things I can think of saying because the actual service & quality of work... my god. I am never coming back here again... I wanted to like them so bad but my experience started to go downhill when they insisted on charging me $15 to remove a single lash that wouldn't fall out from a month ago.. okay fine....I'll accept their service charge. So my tech is cleaning & prepping my lash line & gets whatever cleaning solution in my eye & when I tell you that stuff burned!! It BURNED! I knew I should've left at that moment but of course I thought I should give them a chance. Then another tech tries to brush it off & say it's normal ... it's normal.. I've gotten my lashes done plenty of times & let me tell you that has NEVER happened! Fine I lay down & my tech begins. Now let me tell you if you have 2 HOURS to spare then go ahead a book ur service here. For me laying there for 2 hours my lashes were SPARSE.... Now when they go to charge me they charge me an EXTRA $37 for the lash removal & "wispy" charge. 1. They never told me about the wispy charge 2. I signed up for the wispy service soooo why! At this point I was fed up & just wanted to leave their establishment. I took the hit & paid $106 (with a small tip.. I know but I still felt bad for the tech with my unhappy service) Idk I wish my experience went differently & I regret cheating on my regular spot. The only reason I couldn't go to my usual spot was location & business hours. I feel cheated, & ugly with these SPARSE lashes. Lesson learned. I'm definitely jealous of all the wonderful experiences every other lady here has had. Unfortunately that wasn't my case. read more

I went for the first time last month and booked with Tao, she so sweet and friendly and literally did a perfect set, I asked for classic but she recommended 2-tip for a bit more thicker look. So, this is a long overdue review. I've never had eyelash extensions and wanted to test them out before my wedding. Tao was so amazing in suggesting the length and style according to what i wanted. She did such an excellent job! At first it felt weird to see myself with fuller lashes but I got used . I've been getting so many compliments and can't really see myself without them. Now i think I might be addicted. lol Definitely coming back :) read more

My first time ever getting my eyelashes done. This place was highly recommended by my sister, she's been getting her eyelashes done for years. Overall, my experience was great! My experience was amazing. My technician name is Claire. She greeted me at the door with a smile, she took the time to walk me through the products to see all my options, to get what works best for me. She was very patient, the place looks very nice and clean , very professional. I have checked other places, around my neighborhood, since I live in North Hollywood, Which are very expensive, and for the most part in nail shops. This place topped them. I've been getting my lashes done with Tao for a little over a year now but at the Sumi location in San Gabriel, and she is honestly THE BEST. I would give her a million stars if I could lol. I was her first client at this new location in Pasadena today, which is super convenient for me because of how close it is from my house. Super pretty salon, very clean, and accommodating. Huge parking lot too. Tao does an amazing and thorough job with my lashes every single time. I never leave disappointed! I've always had sensitive eyes when it comes to lash extensions, but I haven't had a reaction from getting them done with her because of how well she applies the lashes and her before/after care routine with it as well. I'd recommend going to her if you're interested in getting your lashes done!! read more

Cindy is the best! Came once last year and I've been coming ever since. So sweet and gentle. Always ask if I need a blanket, takes her time and definitely shows in the result. I've been going to Sumi for the last 3 years. Tao is my lash tech and I've stuck with her from the very beginning when she was at the SG location. Now she's at the Pasadena location and I like this location much better. There's a huge parking lot and alot of different stores and restaurants near by. Tao is always very gentle and her work always comes out beautifully each time. I always have the best naps when she gets started, that's how gentle she is! My lashes last so long and are still full by 3-4 weeks. I always recommend all my friends and family to her. The great thing about Sumi is after 10 visits, you get $15 off and also each friend/family you refer, you get $5 off. Their prices are very reasonable especially for the work they do. I've always gotten my lashes at Sumi Lashes with Tao and this new location is fabulous! It's big and everyone is so nice and lots of parking! Tao always does my lashes when I heard she's moving locations I followed her. She does amazing lashes and takes her time, she is so accommodating and very clean! Everytime before we start she asks me what length, style, etc. No matter what I get or ask for she always does exactly what I have in mind. She always makes sure I'm comfortable while getting my lashes done. Tao is the best, if you want to get your lashes done this is the place!! The prices are very reasonable and very worth it! We are committed to providing our lash stylists and salons with top quality products and continued lash extension training. Sumi® Lashes was founded in 2016 by husband and wife Bo Cui and Yu Xiao. With their combined experiences, Yu designed and built out the first Sumi® Lashes while Bo worked on perfecting the operations and customer experience. Soon after the first Sumi® Lashes was established, other artists expressed interest in owning their own Sumi® Lashes location, and in May of 2018, the couple decided to Franchise their company. They have since expanded to 10 Franchise locations with several more in the works.

Upon some research, I found Ms Kawaii who offers evening appointments which was very convenient for my schedule. I had my appointment on a Thursday night around 7pm and honestly was not very excited with the final result, which did not look like the photos I had shown my tech, Yuki. I've never been the type of person who had the guts to speak up but I knew that Ms Kawaii has a 5 day warranty so I ultimately decided to send a text about 20 hours after my initial appointment and going back and forth on whether I should to share my experience and feelings on the set I received. I explained I had my event the next day so I thought it might be too late to fix them but that I still hoped for some sort of resolution. Luckily, they did inform me that they would be able to take me that night, which I was initially hesitant for since I was told my first set would look like the picture I showed and they did not so I worried what I wanted might not be able to be executed. For context, I've never been to lash salons that have a menu for you to choose different things, such as material, style, and glue type. In the past, I would just show reference photos and let the tech recreate them. So keep this in mind if you have also never experienced choosing from a menu since they explained to me that the "material" I chose is why my first set turned out the way they did. I came in again about 24 hours after my first appointment and Yuki was there to help me get my lashes fixed to what I wanted. She was incredibly patient and kind the entire time, even in our first meeting, and I am very grateful that both she and Ms Kawaii were able to help me resolve my issues.

At all three appointments, my eyes burned during and after the application, and I had to use a fan every time to relieve the discomfort. The classic sets I got during the first two visits had poor retention. Maybe it's because they're classics. I experienced daily fallout, which was annoying as stray lashes would poke my eyes. The third time, I tried a volume set and they were gone by day 25, which I'm not complaining. The style looked bulky, black, and unnatural, but slowly started looking like classic with fallout (which was also itchy/poking me). I made sure to clean and fan-dry my lashes every other day. Also, keep in mind that switching styles doesn't come with any kind of pricing adjustment. She did check how many weeks had passed since my last visit, so I thought there might be a slight discount but nope. Overall, the lashes are cute, but I wouldn't return. Chelsea is seriously the best! I've been getting my lashes done by her for a while now and I honestly wouldn't trust anyone else. She takes her time, pays attention to every little detail, and somehow makes my lashes look full, fluffy, and natural at the same time. They always last so well and I constantly get compliments on them. On top of that, she's so sweet and easy to talk to that every appointment feels relaxing instead of rushed. I used to hate wearing false lash strips, because I could always FEEL them. With lash extensions, I do not remotely notice that anything is there. Taylor is meticulous, tasteful, and light handed. She is a licensed esthetician, and has extensive lash extension-specific training. Her touch is so gentle that I have fallen asleep during many of my appointments lol. She offers customized lash extensions ranging from natural looks to high volume. I opt for a light volume style with a subtle cat eye, which I find to be natural yet glamorous. I took an involuntary break from lash extensions from March to July due to the pandemic. Lash fills are needed every 2-3 weeks, so of course, all of my extensions eventually came off during that time. I was pleasantly surprised to find that my natural lashes were unscathed and looked the same, if not better, than before I started getting extensions. I currently drive 2 hours round trip to get my lashes done by Taylor-she is THAT good. Do yourself a favor, and make an appointment.
