I've been a regular client at Sumi lashes in Hacienda Heights for quite some time. My lash technician most likely went on a trip for the summer because her next availability is in August, and that definitely would not have worked for me because I needed to get my lashes done pronto. I decided to book an appointment at Sumi Lash in Pasadena due to its close proximity to my house. To be honest, I was a bit nervous after reading all the negative reviews. Everything from how the lashes were not long lasting to how their eyes burned during the application process made me wanted to cancel my appointment, but I really needed to get my lashes done for the weekend so the desperate side of me decided to stick to it. I had initially made my appointment with a tech by the name of Cindy for 9:30am, but then I received a text notification that my appointment was updated to 10:00am with Tina. The day before the appointment, I received another text from Sumi asking if I would be able to come in at 10:15am instead, which I was okay with. I am very familiar with the area so I found the place and parking without any issues. I arrived on time and only waited about 5 minutes for Tina. The check in process is all the same for all Sumi locations - check in on an ipad with your phone number. Tina was very friendly, and went over styles with me. There was some burning from the glue but it wasn't too unbearable. I was done in about an hour for a full set of Volume Wispy lashes. The total including tips cost me about $160+. The verdict: I was VERY happy with how my lashes came out. It's been two weeks and I still have the full set of lashes. I am glad I did not back out of my appointment after reading some of the negative reviews, and I do plan on scheduling my next appointment soon for a fill. read more

I came to this one a few times instead of the glendale location because it was closer to where I live. I like the style of the lashes and they have a parking lot, and an organized booking system. However, the lashes aren't very lasting. With any tech I've tried here they had a lot of fallout. And I stopped coming completely when one tech straight up told me at the very end of the session that I'd have a lot of fallout because she didn't really have enough time and sure enough, I was bald in the lash in less than a week. Staff was friendly and welcoming. The place is also clean and well kept. My only issue is with the lashes. I'm happy with the appearance of my lashes, but during the appointment I noticed that my eyes would sometimes burn and my eyelids felt pretty uncomfortable. When I opened my eyes after the service was complete, my right one was red. The staff put eye drops, which helped soothe the redness but waking up today my eyes are still really red and feel tender. Also upon looking closely at my lashes, they seem to be glued very near my lash line if not literally on it. This is causing a lot of discomfort and I'm contemplating getting them removed elsewhere. It was a bumpy start but it worked out beautifully. I had made my appointment through the website. I received an email confirmation so I thought all good, it went through. I arrive at my appointment with Tao and she's finishing a client. She said my appointment was cancelled. I did not cancel my appointment. She was gracious and asked me to wait a few minutes. The client she was finishing wanted a discount on her lashes. Tao said the discount is $15 off of products not services. The client then argues with her about her lashes being too full and long. (I think she was gunning for another angle for a discount) Tao handled it graciously. At this point I'm wondering if I made a bad decision. However, my schedule was tight, I needed the service and the Yelps were good, so I practiced patience. The events happening with that other client had nothing to do with me. When it was time for my service I had photos to show the look I wanted. Years ago at another lash place and came out looking Vegas show girl. Every time I blinked it was like lifting barbell weights on my lids. We discussed using sensitive glue, natural lashes and the size and gradation. Size 9 in the inner lid to 11 in the middle and 13 on the ends to give a bit of a cat eye. (I've added a photo that Tao took after service). Ask her for a pic, she uses a nice filter! I received a $50 off first time coupon which was great! I paid $65 and the quality is better that the Groupon offer for classic synthetic lashes, so I recommend, if you are reading this and considering a Groupon, (I always cross reference deals with Yelp reviews), book your service directly, and word to the wise, when you get the confirmation email, open it and confirm so they don't cancel your appointment. read more

Studio was nice and workers were friendly. I had a not so great experience with my first time here. Left feeling okay about the look... Then over time started to realize that some parts of the lashes were glued so close to my lash line that it was pretty painful and caused redness/swelling (see pics). I had to use tweezers to pluck some off that were rubbing into my eye, which helped a lot, but noticed that the glue was really easy to pull off. Pretty expensive for the quality imo. read more

first i want to say everyone here is really polite. however not all technicians are the same. mine was very rough on the eyelashes and i knew something was wrong right when she glued the first eye lash. i couldn't open my eyelashes after Amy finished and I immediately had them removed 30 minutes after. she made my eyes look completely different sizes and i could not trust her to fix it. another technician was kind enough to remove the lashes in 30 minutes but my eye ball is still bruised . they should make an area for employees to have their break times too! read more

When I got home I realize there were a lot missing (like 15) I went back and they finished it, so it looks fuller rather than sparser. Besides having to go back good experience Forgot to add - they're very clear about getting what you want, and there's a lot of options of what kinds of lashes. 3 different options for just classic, for example. I've been meaning to write this review since my first visit in September, but haven't had the chance until now. This is now my second time at Sumi and both experiences have been a success! With my first visit, I just booked at Sumi because it was in the area and they had pretty good reviews. I wanted to get last minute lash extensions before my work trip for convenience. I just chose a time slot that best worked with my schedule and it happened to be with Elora Yang. My experience with her was pleasant - she was nice, meticulous, detail-oriented and I haven't experienced many fallouts. The set actually lasted me a couple of weeks. I got a natural-looking set (Hybrid style) which is what I wanted as I'm more into the natural-looking wispy lashes. Now my second time, I wanted to get lash extensions again for another upcoming trip. I booked with Elora again (this time intentionally) and went with their signature Sunflower style. I think this is now my current favorite style! It still looks natural-looking (went with my usual lengths 10/11/12), but the lashes are thicker than the previous set (3D rather than classic) so it makes my eyes look cuter/more defined (I think they mentioned it's a mix of Hybrid and Clover). I am usually hesitant when traveling to this area of town because of parking, but super happy to find out this place is located inside the parking lot with 90 minutes free parking! It's also next to some good eats for you to go to before or after your lashes. I've been with Tao since she was at the SG location. While the SG location is much closer for me, I don't mind driving farther out because she's that good. Her previous reviews was the reason why I selected her in the first place. I will say that in the first time, I tried the 100% real mink and the second time I tried the slightly cheaper version (can't remember the name). I'm sure everyone's experience is different, but I believe my first (and last) experience with them was bad from the start. First-- the original person I booked with switched my lash technician out last minute. I purposely requested the highest rated lash tech, but I was switched to one who had 0 reviews. No explanation, no call or text to let me know. Just an automated email. Second-- this location smelled like cooked eggs. Not sure if one of the employees microwaved something in there that day but it was not the most pleasant. Still I was able to handle that, but the third reason was the worst. Third-- the lash technician was so rough with my lashes, so careless with the lash removal. My eyes were burning but she just kept going. And the WORST PART.... SHE DID NOT GLUE THE EXTENSION TO MY LASH!! She glued it on my EYELID. I knew something was weird because I was in so much pain after the appointment, it hurt to blink. My eyes were so irritated, I couldn't keep them open or closed. I was not going to come back to this same salon for a removal, the service was already so bad in and of itself I went elsewhere to get it removed. My lash artist at another salon was the one who told me that the lash was glued to my skin, and spent 45 MINUTES TRYING TO REMOVE WITHOUT DAMAGING MY LASHES. My eyelids were so swollen and puffy after that, but I'm thankful to still have my actual lashes. I wish I took pictures from this day but I hated my set so much I thought about nothing else but to remove it ASAP. Would not recommend the technician I had (I believe her name was Tina). Not sure if the other techs at this location do this but I had a horrible experience here with her. read more
