Fantastic food. Something for everyone. We went for lunch with friends and even they raved about it. First time there for all of us!

After a long day, we needed to grab some dinner in Colorado Springs and Summa showed up in your Yelp search. There was plenty of parking in their private lot on this Sunday evening. We walked through the front patio area and pulled open the door. It was a bit dark, and I immediately saw a bar. I was concerned that this was a 21+ restaurant but noticed a child sitting in a booth nearby. Thank goodness! The bartender motioned that we could sit anywhere. We initially sat at a table, but it was a bit wobbly, so we moved to a booth. She came over with some menus shortly along with silverware. We let her know we'll be sharing a few plates, and this is what we ordered: * Basque Mussels $16 - The mussels were good and the broth was enjoyable as well. 4/5 * Blintzini $16 - This was an enjoyable crepe with wild mushrooms and bleu cheese cream. 4/5 * Fishermen's Stew $14 - The stew was just okay. It was very hot from the beginning to the end. It just wasn't a wow dish for us. 3/5 * Spanish Oxtail $26 - Now this is a winner of a dish! The bison just fell off the bone and was so flavorful! It came with their signature Summa pots. We did inquire on how long it would take to have another order, but we were in a time crunch, so we didn't get a chance to. In retrospect, we would have ordered two plates of this along with another order of Summa Pots or Loaded Summa Pots. 5/5 * Pineapple Mango Cobbler $12 - Listed on the menu as seasonal fruit, we asked what kind of fruit it was and pineapple and mango was the answer. It was enjoyable and had me looking up recipes to make cobblers at home. 4/5 The bartender was also our waitress, so she had to move around quite a bit. Therefore, we did need to ask for more water or wave for another napkin. Overall, we enjoyed our visit at Summa! They have various events including Trivia Sundays and weekday happy hour options. read more

Found on Yelp. Was here before when it was a BBQ joint. The menu is small, but diverse. The meatball sandwich, even the half, is enormous and delicious. The hummus was super fresh and delicious. The fried chicken was pretty good too. We had a fruit cobbler that was enough for three of us. Bartender was our server. Super friendly and helpful, and walked us through the concept and choices. It was explained as "comfort foods from many different places ". We'll be back. read more

We had another amazing evening, we had the dog with us and wanted to find a patio to be able to hang out and enjoy some great food while the sun was going down. We ended up sharing the Creole chicken, which was absolutely delicious. The hummus is always a great choice, I wish it came maybe with a few more vegetables, but I'm sure they would give them to us if we asked but we were so full by the end of it didn't matter. The staff and the service is always excellent here, they're always very friendly and on top of things. The loaded pots was absolutely great to share as well if you're looking for something different than just fries. read more

Came here recently because they had vegan & gf options on the menu. We were the only people there mid-afternoon and we sat on the patio because we had a dog with us. I was very curious about the shishito peppers with mole sauce so I had that app then I also ordered the vegan stew. My sister ordered some chicken stew looking thing. The shishito peppers were surprising - just when you think the chocolate of the mole was going to be too much, it wasn't and it was pretty good. My vegan stew was better than I thought it was going to be. It was delicious! Service was great & the patio vibes were peaceful. Would definitely come here again (especially for that vegan stew!). read more

They overcharge you and like to add extra tips on themselves. I've been calling for months to get this resolved, and no one but Scott seems to have the authority to help me. But Scott is apparently way to busy to call me back. No one can tell me when Scott will be in. Employees are rude when I try to find out any information about a time to reach Scott. I do not recommend this restaurant at all. read more

This place is a gem!!!! Can in on a Friday afternoon for lunch. With plenty of parking it was definitely nice. Anyways we sat down and were immediately greeted with menus and cold water. Our waiter/bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable on the ingredients that were being used in every single entrée that we had questions about. We decided to split the burger flight tasting and get muscles as well. I would say this is the best place to get them in Colorado Springs. They also had plenty of cocktails and other batteries we used to pick from and definitely a cozy environment. Can't wait to go back and bring all of the friends with. read more

We drove past this place for years. Finally stopped in a few weeks ago and were really impressed with the quality of the food. Thought it was a bar with food, but it is sooo much better than we expected. Have been back several times and brought friends to share as well! read more

The food was horrible. The service was atrocious- the bar tender was so high it took him 10min to make 1 drink. I will never come back here. We had the fried chicken- very dry. Chips and queso- GRRROOSSS worse than store bought. Hummus plate- lame and hummus didn't have good consistency I forgot what I had in a bowl that was on the menu however they didn't have all the ingredients so they offered me something similar. It tasted terrible. I don't know how this place is open. With all the good restaurants in springs, they won't last long. I don't recommend this restaurant . read more

We have visited Summa around 2 pm on a Saturday, and they happen to have brunch hours. So, the New Mex Stew and Blintze had a twist. I added an egg in the stew upon request, and the Blintze had fried chicken alongside. They were both very delicious, highly recommend. read more

My stars are always about the food. Friendly neighborhood pub with KILLER bites. Second visit over two visits to Colorado Springs. The fried chicken? The menu is not huge but has good variety. The interior is not big but is quiet and relaxing with a laid back atmosphere with rustic but clean decor. You're not sitting in a huge noisy open box like a lot of restaurants. The waitstaff was very accommodating answering any questions and taking care of special requests. The prices were very fair for the portion size. Definitely worth a return trip to try other menu items. read more

We were looking for comfort food on a Friday night. Summa did not disappoint. The fried chicken was lightly battered and perfectly prepared. The chicken and wine pot pie was a well developed stew. The crust top was a little doughy and would be better if it were puffed pastry. The hummus starter was very nice. Our waiter was nice, knowledgable and attentive. The outside of the restaurant was interesting enough. Then from the moment we stepped inside it felt we had been there before just from the hospitality we received from Tasha. We shared we were in Colorado Springs for the Earl Klugh Weekend of Jazz. She gave honest opinions and suggestions about the menu. We decided on the Spanish Oxtail and Chicken and Wine Pot Pie. Perfect location in Old Colorado, this rustic bar has a large variety of craft beers on tap. We came for the food and were not disappointed. While discussing options with our waiter, we learned we were talking with the cook. I truly believe he created the menu with love. My husband has the chicken pot pie. It was a cute crock filled to the top with a very coq au vin style stew. At first he thought he mistakenly received beef, it had a rich hearty flavor. I enjoyed a wonderful "Blintzini"; a mushroom filled crepe in a fantastic bleu cheese sauce, and the crepe was really full. We also had a side of the loaded pots. Absolutely loved Summa. I swear everything that goes into this building has been a fave for me. We came in just before Christmas with some family. Early enough that we didn't have a reservation and were sat right away, but it got busy fast and I would recommend a reservation on weekend nights if dining after 6pm. The atmosphere was chill, laid back, and homey. The food was a 10/10 and the prices weren't bad at all. Two of us got the mussels and absolutely destroyed them. I got spaghetti and meatballs (literally have never ordered this dining out but was craving it) and man it was good! My fiancé got a burger and thought it was 8/10. Grandma was very happy with her pot pie and she's a southern soul food lady! Service was a touch slow buttt the server (wish I remembered his name) was really cool. I think I heard that they had a call out so I am totally understanding of that. read more

What a quirky and special place! In an Old Colorado City building, Summa is both a great restaurant and a cool tap house. We were greeted by friendly staff/manager (?) and had our choice of of seating since we arrived soon after opening. We were there for lunch and both had the New Mex Stew and the Shotgun Pots. The stew was a savory blend of beans, potatoes, red and green chiles, onions, garlic, and tomatoes which was topped with tortilla chip strips and, on request, shredded cheese, making it vegetarian rather than vegan. The Shotgun Pots were red and gold potatoes broken open then fried with a delicious house seasoning. Everything was delicious and we can't wait to visit again and try more dishes! read more

Wow!! An amazing place!! The food is simply delicious. I have been wanting to try this place. The service was good though the wait for our food was a little long but it was certainly worth it. On a hot summer day it was a bit warm inside as well. The standout dishes for me were the summa pots which are fried, somewhat smashed potatoes that are seasoned. They are perfectly crisp and creamy at the same time and taste great. I got something off the brunch menu (just during weekends at a specific time): buttermilk crepes with fried chicken. The crepes had a mushroom sauce and boy was it good. Loved the mix of flavors and textures. The Creole fried chicken is one of the best I've had in the Springs. I wish the chicken pieces were bigger but other than that it's perfect. The hummus we got was interesting with the turmeric but it tasted fine, just a little different than your typical hummus. Overall good food and great service. Will definitely go back! read more

Brilliant food! Grand beverages! Spectacular service and camaraderie! And that doesn't even begin to describe the ambience! We stopped at Summa for lunch one afternoon and were utterly delighted. The environment is rustic and welcoming as is the host. It was relatively quiet with only a few tables occupied and I can only imagine how lively and exciting it would be at the dinner hour. After speaking with the owner, we selected a variety of very unique, creative menu offerings to create our own tasting menu, if you will. We added a couple of signature beverages to the complement the meal. Brilliant! Everything was prepared to utter perfection and delightfully delicious. Portions were generous and completely tantalizing. The menu is wonderfully creative - things you will recognize have a whole new spin at Summa. As an aside, we had our pup with us who enjoyed a couple of delightful pup burgers as well. He is a rather big pup. Had an early lunch here after visiting black bear nature center. The shotgun pots are amazing. We had the chicken in wine sauce which was excellent. It was filled with chicken, mushrooms, and carrots in a delicious sauce topped with greens. They are served in mini Dutch ovens and the presentation was wonderful. My husband had the sausage and pepper shot gun which was also very good. When we arrived we got outside seating because I brought my dog. It's very pretty outside with shaded areas. We ordered a table mimosa, fried chicken, and the sausage peppers with rice. We got outside seating drinks within 5 minutes. We however didn't recurve our food until an hour later. It wasn't super busy. We were pretty muffed about it at first. But the manager comped all of our items without us asking. ( I have social anxiety. ) We still tipped $20 for our food. It was really good and spiced absolutely delicious. We wanted to try a new local business and I guess we came on an off day, but boy I do not get the 5 star reviews. Service was very inattentive, which is odd as we were the only customers there. We came in 15 minutes after they opened and weren't sure if they were ready for business. Chairs were still on the tables and the floor was completely wet. The person who took our order was in the middle of a FaceTime videochat as he handed us our menus. And we sat for a bit waiting for his attention to provide us our check. Again would be understandable if they were busy but we were the only customers there. We sat at a booth and I got up to grab my daughter from my husband and got caught on a loose staple or nail or something that caused a hole in my pants. My husband asked for plain black coffee along with our brunch and we suspect it was just instant coffee sold for $6! No refills offered. I hope for better experience for others. We went to Summa for lunch and we were happy we did so. Summa is Latin for whole-sum according to their display on the wall, and we tend to agree with them. The dining room is open, airy and bright. The staff was pleasant and engaging. The menu is relatively small, but I'm sure that is how they keep their quality high. We had 3 meals and an appetizer/side. All were very good, but the table favorite had to be the Creole Fried Chicken. It was perfectly cooked: crispy and juicy. It was served with a creamy dipping sauce that was amazing. We ordered a side of Loaded Shotgun Pots, which were smashed potatoes covered in cheese with bacon and green onion garnishing. They were good, but when dipped in the sauce that came with the fried chicken, they were awesome! We also had a Blintzini. Not my normal go-to because it was the vegetarian option, but it really was excellent. It was like a crepe wrapped around a stuffing primarily made up of a medley of mushrooms and then covered in a blue cheese cream sauce. You get two of them, and they were perfectly seasoned with great flavor! Last, we had the Western Cheesesteak. It looked really good but our cranky teenager said "It's okay". I think, I'd be willing to try it on my own next time we go. They also had a burger sampler that sounded really good: 4 mini burgers and you can mix and match what's on them.
