I've been to this place acouple of times since they opened about a year ago. Nothing special or cool about this place, at all. Only thing that makes this lounge unique is its a Tequila bar in a town known for Whiskey. The 2 of us decided to go on a day we had no idea was an event weekend going on, Frontier Days! Street was blocked off but we still managed to grab lunch at Thunder & Buttons & then stop for a drink at this lounge Agave. It wasn't crowded, as usual. It never really is but at least you don't have to worry about not having a place to sit. Anyways, we weren't there for not even 40 min cause they let us know they'd be closing soon for a private event. We had time enough to sit order 2 House Margaritas. I ordered the traditional which was disappointing, it was on the tart side & tasted more of the mix. The 2 shots that we ordered after, 1800 Crystal, which is supposed to be very smooth tequila turn out to be very rough in taste like it had been sitting open for some time, it tasted old...it was disappointing. When it came down to the check; the $46 for the disappointing drinks wasn't an issue at all, what I had issue with & questioned was that Auto (20%) Gratuity! I felt it was presumptuous of them to think that they assumed I'd want to give an almost $10 tip for what??? We weren't waited on & I certainly wasn't that impressed...A Tip has everything to do with that! And it should NEVER be assumed or considered automatic!!! Also, on the receipt it specifically stated that for a party of 6 or more a 20% is automatically Added, we'll it was just 2 of us. So we questioned a waitress & her explanation was that because of the event taking place that weekend, Frontier Days, that 20% Gratuity was a mandatory event fee!!! So basically, they were ignoring their own statements about 6 or people thats clearly printed on Receipt & deciding to take advantage of a weekend event to Extort money from their customers by basically charging an Entry Fee with their mandatory 20% Gratuity !?! TFBS!!! For a business to seize on an event & find it as an opportunity to take advantage of their own business policy as a way to extort more money off of the few extra customers you may get tells the low values your business has! Who knows what other illegal or nefarious things take place or that you do in how you run your business. Not only have you lost acouple of local patrons but we would never refer anyone visit your place except the BBB & acouple of other 3 letter depts!!!!

Proud to be There for a pre-open party! Totally new vibe in an iconic location. A tequila and mezcal bar for the west side! Drinks were tailored and tasty, empanadas were delicious, and staff was super friendly and attentive. Small place full of nooks ideal for your small friends group and a short bar for a few singles.

The 59er is a "speakeasy" for gamers. Not sure why it's considered a speakeasy though because you can just walk from the game shop or ice cream shop into it. Nothing sneaky about it. Not sure how they make money as it seemed that people camp out here for hours playing D&D and Magic. [Also strange that I saw people bring in their own beer - seems like that could jeopardize their license] The food was ok. Nothing to write home about. I did have their grilled cheese sandwich. I don't recall all that it had on it other than a jam and a brie. It was tasty but the ingredients seemed really really stingy. The sandwich would have been better with a better melting cheese. The employees we've met (once for ice cream and once for The 59er), have been nice but also STRESSED. They don't have enough help. They're running around trying to manage all the different aspects of the space. There will often be a lengthy wait on ice cream because they're serving food in the back, helping in the game shop. I bet they'd have less shoplifting and more visitors if they had more staff to give a better experience.

We walked through the front patio area and pulled open the door. It was a bit dark, and I immediately saw a bar. I was concerned that this was a 21+ restaurant but noticed a child sitting in a booth nearby. Thank goodness! The bartender motioned that we could sit anywhere. We initially sat at a table, but it was a bit wobbly, so we moved to a booth. She came over with some menus shortly along with silverware. We let her know we'll be sharing a few plates, and this is what we ordered: * Basque Mussels $16 - The mussels were good and the broth was enjoyable as well. 4/5 * Blintzini $16 - This was an enjoyable crepe with wild mushrooms and bleu cheese cream. 4/5 * Fishermen's Stew $14 - The stew was just okay. It was very hot from the beginning to the end. It just wasn't a wow dish for us. 3/5 * Spanish Oxtail $26 - Now this is a winner of a dish! The bison just fell off the bone and was so flavorful! It came with their signature Summa pots. We did inquire on how long it would take to have another order, but we were in a time crunch, so we didn't get a chance to. In retrospect, we would have ordered two plates of this along with another order of Summa Pots or Loaded Summa Pots. 5/5 * Pineapple Mango Cobbler $12 - Listed on the menu as seasonal fruit, we asked what kind of fruit it was and pineapple and mango was the answer. It was enjoyable and had me looking up recipes to make cobblers at home. 4/5 The bartender was also our waitress, so she had to move around quite a bit. Therefore, we did need to ask for more water or wave for another napkin. Overall, we enjoyed our visit at Summa! They have various events including Trivia Sundays and weekday happy hour options.
