I went to Summermoon on a Friday morning around 10am and was surprised to see how busy it was. I appreciated that they give you the option to order online for pickup. They give you an approximate time it'll be ready, it was about 20 minutes from the time I placed the order. Upon arriving, I did have to wait a few minutes in the pickup area since it was so busy but once someone was free, they helped me immediately. Of note, you are able ask for milk substitutions and to warm up as pastries in the online ordering form. I thought it was awesome that you could sub almond, oat, or coconut milk without any extra fee. The coffee was good - really enjoyed the delicious lavender taste. I wasn't too impressed with the banana chocolate muffin, it was little too dense for me. Next time I will have to try one of their other many pastries. Summer Moon was a pleasant surprise. I was looking to find a new coffee shop after just recently moving to Austin so I decided to check it out. The atmosphere was friendly, warm and inclusive. Groups of people of all ages and nationalities frequented the shop and it seemed like the baristas enjoyed taking orders and making drinks for everyone. Tried another Summer Moon location and had a very similar experience (not surprisingly). This location is the closest to the Domain but isn't in the crowded areas which is a huge plus. It's very easy to get in and out and there's plenty of parking. The cafe itself isn't very big inside or out, but it gets the job done. And there are several shops around it to check out! I ordered my usual- multigrain crossaint and 20oz cold brew with moon milk. The staff were incredibly friendly and I paid around $7-8 for all which isn't terrible for a quality breakfast. I found a table outside pretty quick, but sitting right by the entrance is a bit unnerving for an introvert :) Overall, I'd go back to this location, especially if I were heading towards the Domain. read more

I wanted to check this place out on my time off where I can peacefully grab a coffee and work on my portfolio which I found the time to do on a Thursday morning. It was pretty busy as there was a line at the pickup bar and most of the tables were full but I was lucky to grab a spot at the high table next to an outlet; SCORE! I ordered an iced mocha moon latte and was kind of disappointed. First of all, it was very sweet! The sweetness overpowers any sort of espresso that is in the latte! I'm a coffee lover and I love the taste of bold espresso more than milk and this was just too much sweetness and not enough espresso. I hope to give this place another chance and try something that has more of an espresso kick to it! read more

This is one of my favorite coffee shops in Austin. I don't know what it is, but their lattes are soo delicious, and they have super cute names. I usually get the quarter wintermoon latte, which is still pretty sweet if you don't like sugar in your coffee. They also have a small selection of pastries, if you get hungry (although I've never tried them). All their stuff has pretty standard pricing--around $5 for a latte. This is a good place to study during the day, not too loud, with a good amount of seating. However, it's usually super crowded, so be prepared to wait a little bit for someone to leave to find a table. I think this location is bigger (and possibly less crowded?) than the other Austin locations, but not completely sure on that one. read more

I like to leave a review after a few visits, but I could not resist! I stopped by Summer for an iced drink. The interior is cool, nicely decorated and spacious. Indoor setting (few chairs outside). It looks study friendly - a few people were reading or working on laptops. I ordered the Wintermoon Latte (cold) with almond milk. Apparently the Wintermoon is made in-house, or is their own recipe. The barista described it as a sweet cream. You can adjust the "cream" to 1/2 sweetness. Wow! My iced Wintermoon Latte was so good. I wanna another. The coffee is nice and strong, and the sweet milk is a balance. Oh my gosh, another coffee shop I go to in Austin everytime I'm there! It is one of the best coffe shop I have been to. Everytime I come to this location the ligghting when I take a picture of my drink it is good! I really like how the workers are always smiling and working with the customers to get the right drink. Half wintermoon- I think personally the drinks here are really sweet but I feel it is made with quality. For me this drink however is still pretty sweet! I would get the quartermoon. One medium drink is 2 shots and the large is three shots! Quartermoon- Drink literally just right sweetness for me! For me this drink I am able to drink pretty well! You get a taste of coffee and the homemade cream they make. Overall, this is a pretty short review, but the place is a place I woud definitely recommend! I love how they have many different sweetness levels with different names for each drink and it also sounds pretty cool. Both locations I am able to get a good amount of customer service! They always ask if I have been here before and make sure my drink comes out nice. However I do notice that they are not really that good at yelling customers drink which I notice from another review. Normally this location I go is packed though so I would have to wait in the front then go back to my table to study. However, I still recommend and I like the place a lot. read more

Wow this may the the best mocha I've ever had. It's called the summer moon mocha which has their special Moon milk in it. Apparently Moon milk is their signature milk made with 7 secret ingredients. Moon milk seems to add a big pop of sweetness and maybe a hint of spice. I got mine with a quarter moon milk as I'd been warned a little of its sugary goodness goes a long way. End result mew mocha gold standard for me. Super nice people, good ambience. Could use more comfy chair but not really the room to do it. Reminds me of a little place I know called Philbertz back in the Bay, which is still my numero uno, but this coffee shoppe is nice placeholder while I am homesick. I can't speak for the food, but the Half Moon lattes are truly on point! They're made with a special house sweetened milk concoction (Moon Milk) that's creamy and sweet. If you only want the sweetened milk, go for the Summermoon latte, while the Half Moon is half skim to cut some of the sweetness. Atmosphere is trendy; lots of power outlets and free wi-fi makes it a good place to get some work done. I'm a fan of the music choice too. One more call out: service is remarkable. I might relocate to Austin JUST for their Blue moon Lavender Latte. I stayed in the Domain for a whole week and did not miss a morning here.It gets pretty packed but they are fast and efficient. You can also pre-order online and they keep your drinks in the fridge until you arrive. My favorites were the Half Moon cold AND hot, as well as the Blue moon lavender on ice. If you order a large size the n hey will add a 4th shot of espresso for free. This was a great pick me up on Monday morning before work. I don't know how many Summer Moon coffee shops in the world. But at least I can proudly say I have been to all of those in Austin and Dallas. Since this one is located near the university, most of the patrons are hard working students that need caffeine to stay awake. As a coffee place goes, this place looks very comfortable and inviting. Like all Summer Moon places, you can see the big classic text logo "Summer Moon" displayed on a small brick wall. There are high tables and seats on one side of the shop with pictures of random patterns hanging on the wall. But I can barely tell in an artistic way what they mean. I ordered a latte with their signature moon milk, which is their secret sweet creamer. Beware it's very sweet. So I ordered the quarter moon version. It tasted just like what I had before in other places, not better or worse. Don't get me wrong. It was really good! They also have a variety of pastries and morning tacos. After I ordered my latte, I found that they served a turmeric drink. I love turmeric (the yellow gingerly herb in curry). I'll go for it next time I'm here. read more

I tell people that I'm a "coffee flavored milk" kind of coffee drinker. I add a ton of milk/cream and a decent amount of flavoring because sometimes the acidity from coffee is just too much for me to handle. But that is not a problem here at Summermoon! I'm from Los Angeles and we have an eclectic coffee scene over there, but nothing that is as special, charming, and amazingly delicious as Summermoon. The Moon Milk is everything for me. If I could have my own personal stash that I can take home to drink with my coffee forever then I would greatly appreciate it! Goodbye "coffee flavored milk" and hello Summermoon coffee all day every day. (Okay enough dreaming... Over the course of my three day trip, I visited this Summermoon location twice and ordered the Iced Mocha Moon. On the first day, I tried the Mocha Moon with three shots of espresso. Delicious! But I knew that I could go stronger. On the second day, I went with the Mocha Moon with four shots of espresso. Perfection. The half moon milk that was in the drink did not lose its flavor with all of those espresso shots. Honestly, I found my drink of choice at Summermoon.... for now. I love how this place had signs that described several of their popular drink options so it makes ordering a lot easier. Definitely makes you more willing to try out new stuff. I love Summermoon coffee, and it's been my go to place because I live so close. Besides the busy atmosphere, and giving them 5 stars awhile back. I was disappointed when I ordered my usual mocha moon which ALWAYS taste exactly the same every time, but this time it tasted extremely bitter and off. I went back in and told them, and all of them looked at me as if I was crazy. The lady took it back and pumped it with vanilla?? She said I had to stir it for the flavor to kick in. Was in the mood for coffee and saw Summermoon coffee bar nearby. Seems to be a busy coffee bar with a nice lobby and patio. Almost all tables were occupied though. Once I was next in line, the cashier was very polite and answered all of my questions. Which said the Wintermoon coffee was a "dessert in a cup" so it was going to be sweet. I went ahead and purchased it. Wait time was not long considering the amount of customers. I found a seat outside in the patio and drank my iced Wintermoon. Which the cashier was right it was a sweet iced coffee, maybe a little too sweet for my taste, but the coffee had a nice flavor to it. Today, it's not better. My friend takes them (1/2 moons) back in for a do-over. The do-over coffees suck too. They're bitter, watery, and just not good. I've come here since this place opened. We used to go to the shop on South 1st. Their lattes are supposed to be delicious. They have been delicious. I hate to wait to get something, pay, wait for it to be made and it's not worth the time or the money. Loveeee the coffee here! We randomly were looking for a coffee spot and so glad we tried it out. The "moon" drinks are delicious - love the creaminess and sweetness level options and flavors. The mocha moon latte was delicious and easily the best one I've had - perfectly creamy throughout the entire drink and perfectly at a good sweet level (mocha + half moon) and tasted so good! I couldn't get enough of this drink - definitely would recommend! We also tried the blue moon (lavender + half moon) - this one was definitely on the lighter side but still can taste the hint of lavender. Still good. The Winter Moon, which claims to have seven secret ingredients, has a general flavor of caramel. It was very sweet and it was thicker than your typical latte, due to the moon milk in it. Don't underestimate the drink; even a size small is quite heavy and it will probably take longer for you to finish than other lattes.
