I've become a solid regular at Summermoon over the last few months. The espresso drinks taste great, with flavor notes that are a nice change of pace from the normal Wild Gift / Cuvee beans we normally find. We got off to a bumpy start as this new shop struggled a bit to adapt to grand opening jitters and instant popularity in the neighborhood. This is a great place to study if you're looking for somewhere closer to Round Rock. It does get a little noisy in the afternoons because it gets pretty busy, but most poeple are here to work. I got the half winter moon and it was delicious! Just the right amount of sweetness and cream to coffee ratio and an overall good summer drink. Ouch. Apparently they closed at 4pm today. We walked in at 4:02 to patrons still in line and plenty of folks still lounging and drinking coffee--then, before the door had a chance to shut, were immediately yelled at "we're closed!!" in front of all the other patrons. I've never been here before, so that's why I'm giving it one star. I didn't get a chance to taste their coffee so I can't rate them on that. The service, not sure other than being yelled at. The coffee is certainly above average. However, after several times of waiting 30 minutes to get a cuppa coffee... And when I politely ask, they're not nice about it. I'm convinced one of the secret ingredients of the moon milk/juice is crack. If it wasn't for how good the moon milk/juice was, I wouldn't bother visiting Summer Moon. I raved about this place to my sister who was visiting. Luckily, this location was nearby where we were at for the day. Drove by and it seemed like there was a long line since you could see people standing next to the door. She got out of the car to wait in line while I parked. I park and walk closer to see that there's still people by the door. "Hum, must be because it's a holiday and nobody is working." Then I open the door to find that it's just a bunch of people standing there having a conversation. Even with an "excuse me", nobody moved, so I just walked in between the crowd. Then we order. Simple as that; two summermoons and a ham and cheese pie. Then we wait, and wait, and wait, all while we observe a guy from the door conversation return to work (yep, he ended up being an employee there), the girl behind the counter hold conversations with other employees rather than making drinks, and other people just waiting for drinks (ordered before us). Finally out drinks were done....but where was the food? Oh yeah, that's right, they didn't prepare it. Once I asked about it, the barista gave the typical shrugged off "oh let me get it" response only to see that it was never even taken out of the case and heated up. Oh my goodness! I love this place. I've always been a little hesitant to try smaller coffee shops because, in my experience, I haven't really had that much luck with local coffee shops. Go in today to order what I always do, told the guy I had a reward to use, so he says nothing, spins the iPad around, I quickly catch on and see that I'm to find my own customer account and complete the transaction... I go to the end of the bar where the cute blonde; looking overly thrilled (sarcasm) throws my drink together.. she puts it at the end of the counter, I smile and say thanks. Why no 5 stars when the coffee is AMAZING?Because you have to be willing to spend a significant part of your day waiting for coffee. I've walked out twice due to their lack of staffing. I get that they don't run with the same efficiencies as a Starbucks but when you are one of 3-5 people there and it still takes 10-15+ minutes for a coffee, it can be frustrating. If I know I have time to spare - great place to go! If you want to get your coffee in a timely manner, not so much. Please hire more staff Summermoon! read more

I have been frequenting this location almost everyday for close to 3 years. I have seen a drastic change over the last 6 months. Today I waited 30 MINUTES for my online order. After I inquired, they said they didn't have record of more than 1 drink in my order. I was asked to provide proof on my phone. Most of staff doesn't seem to have any urgency in getting the drinks out in a timely fashion. I understand this location is extremely busy, but the lack of customer service from the employees is a huge turnoff. When you pay top dollar for a coffee ($7.00) you expect a little better. The bread was gluten free, but extremely moist and delicious. My latte was really tasty as well and was one of the best I've had in awhile. My #1 coffee shop in all of Austin! Best part is the "moon milk" in their lattes they created with 7 different types of milk. Then I love the atmosphere...very hipster and spacious. Then I love that they expanded past central Austin where most good local coffee shops are. Hey....There's cool hip people that live North too! Ultimately the Espresso Milkshake looked too good to pass up. Let me tell you, this thing was incredible! The mildly chocolate coffee flavored ice cream blended into a slightly thicker than liquid state, topped with loads of whipped cream was amazing! The flavors bounced around my tastebuds like a pinball machine on crack! I couldn't put it down, and the only disappointment from the experience was that it is only offered in a 16 or 20 ounce cup. I've been here twice, and both times I have had to wait 5-10 mins to order, then another 5-10 for my drink. My friend's drink was spilled by the barista and had to be remade. I was excited to see an new business opening up in this location. Driving by recently I decided to drop in...with my 3 year old boy. I looked over the menu on the wall while my son picked out his chocolate milk in the front case. I couldn't decide what to try since I didn't see my usual ones I know from my limited knowledge of coffee. The girl from behind the counter noticed my look which probably resembled a goat looking at a new gate. I told her I was new there (big surprise) and didn't know what I wanted. I wanted to say caramel macchiato but for some reason the words escaped me. She asked if I wanted "the spiel" and she told me about the coffees. She suggested the flagship drink, Summer Moon, with their unique blend of moon milk. I agreed and bought pumpkin & banana bread for us to nibble on while we sip our drinks. The coffee was made promptly and I headed over to the "fix it up" station but after I took a sip...OMG...I've never ordered a coffee where I didn't have to doctor it up to my liking before. Well, this was a first! I like a sweeter coffee mix and this one hit the spot! It was just the right temperature too, not causing that tongue burn after taking that first sacrificial sip! My son and I had a nice time on our Mommy/Son coffee date! He thought it was fun to go in there with mommy and sit at the table sharing the pumpkin bread. We took the banana bread home to daddy and told him about our new favorite place. The atmosphere is so nice. I love the brick wall with the logo painted on it.
