From speciality coffee drinks enhanced with their magical moon milk to variety of teas, you'll definitely find something to fall in love with. For me, their Wintermoon is superb! Just enough sweet to a refreshing iced coffee. Don't like iced coffee, the Summermoon is a fan fave but I like it strong, so if you do too order the 1/4 moon (hot!). The biggest plus: TACOS. This is, hands-down, the best coffee I have ever had. It has the best flavor and the best "moon milk" option for cream that I have ever experienced. I love everything about this business and everything they stand for and appreciate beyond belief the care and consideration in the details of their business and their products. Their seasonal coffees are also outstanding and a really fun thing to look forward to each year. I am especially grateful that they are a family friendly establishment that does in fact have a place for young children to play and also a changing table in their unisex bathroom. All of the workers at the beautiful location are wonderful and friendly and always willing to help out. I do love that they have expanded their pastry options and have some consistently good breakfast tacos that they offer on a daily basis. I know we don't have very many places to dine in Buda and it is always nice to transact at a small/local/unique business but... I think this place is silly and needs a lesson in how to run a business! We came once before and waited an excrutiatingly long period of time for so-so coffee drinks but thought maybe they were having an off day. We went back this morning and concluded it is apparently always an off day at Summermoon! 1) The girl working the counter was sweet and young, but she was coughing all over everything she touched, including the coffee cups. Anyone with any sense would have sent her home. Shame on her co-workers for not doing so! 2) I have eaten a lot of sugar in my life and can handle more sweetness than most people. However, my hazlenut latte was so sweet and generally gross tasting, I couldn't drink it even after I poured half out and topped it off with black coffee. Too much heavy syrup. 3) There are ridiculous supposed-to-be-cute baskets hanging at a height of about 3' over the table isles. This doesn't even deserve one star for what I just experienced. If there's any stars at all it would be for the friendly, kind and helpful cashier with curly brunette hair named Ellie. Regardless of her being the only good thing going for this place- I walked out having paid for a hot espresso served cold and thrown together. On top of that, the other employee ASHLEY was very rude. I explained I am auto immune and am advised against inflammatories such as sugar considering I've already experienced complications from systematic inflammation. Nonetheless I looked forward to paying for/enjoying a morning espresso, before my son and myself went out for some Saturday biking. In the past when my experience was more up to par, employees stated the non-dairy creamers contain some sugar, which is to be expected, so this time I brought a sugar free portion. I ordered the triple espresso and gave said information about auto immunity and it's complications while offering to bring my portion to the end of the bar where ready drinks are served, to add in. As soon as Ellie brought this to 'Ashleys' attention she rudely retorted that it cannot be brought through and needs to be placed on the other side of the serving bar (something I had already stated/offered) When I arrived there the barista served up a supposed to be hot espresso cold (in the ceramic dishware, there was no confusion regarding the order being a hot triple), when I gave my own creamer portion explaining the reason he dumped it in/was fake friendly to push undesirable product away from serving bar. By far the worst experience I have ever encountered at a coffee bar. I paid for very poor product and zero regard for the customer With the exclusion of Ellie. I advise against this location, you'll surely receive better service and get what you pay for elsewhere. Customer service is an industry I am a 10 year veteran of, it is the center of this job, in which the experience here was well below standards. I absolutely love this place, their coffee, the coffee bar located in Austin, and their entire philosophy. We were driving back from San Antonio and my boyfriend mentioned that he was thinking about going to the Cabela's outpost that is in Buda. I told him there was a coffee place there that I had been wanting to go to and it was settled. We needed coffee and to do a little retail shopping. The place is tucked into what looks like a city center. It's cute and welcoming. Frequenting the Austin location means I know what I am getting (a half wintermoon iced latte) and a latte for him. They have shirts by the register and sell their coffee on shelves inside. I grabbed the one they use to make their coffee, Velvet Blaze. I generally like stronger coffee tempered with cream and sugar. I grew up drinking Vietnamese coffee and if you've ever had it, you know it's very strong yet sweet. What can I say, I know what I like. The barista was really nice and helpful. The coffee, delicious as usual. I love this place and can't for the life of me believe that this place isn't as popular as Cuvee or Blue Bottle. I know I'm not a coffee expert (I know a few though) and maybe my tastes aren't on a more "elite" level when it comes to judging good quality coffee. I love this place's philosophy though and their passion is evident. The barista asked me what kind of coffee maker I had and ground the coffee to the specification necessary to best enjoy its flavor (french press). I've always been a fan of Summermoon (the original) and was ecstatic to find out that they opened up another location in Buda, which is actually way closer to me. Everything as far as coffee is pretty much the same. The same rich wood fired coffee and lattes. Yummy Summermoon and Mocha Moon lattes and I think even the same breakfast tacos. The pastries are a different selection from Lauren's Wildflour Bakery in San Marcos, but what I've tried so far has been delicious (cinnamon roll and cinnamon crumb muffin). What sets this place apart from the original Summermoon is that this place is way more kid friendly (which is a plus for me). There is a kids corner with a small table and kids toys and puzzles that is perfect for entertaining the little ones while you are enjoying your cup of coffee. The original Summermoon (while I've taken my 1.5 year old to many times) is not as kid friendly. The vibe at the original location is definitely more hipster (not that there is anything wrong with that), but I feel a little more in my 'element' at the Summermoon Buda location. I still plan to visit both locations, but I am so glad my closest option for coffee on the weekends isn't going to be Starbucks anymore! read more

First off, the Nitro cold brew here is amazing, but the quantity of coffee you get for the amount you pay is meager at best. Their 8 oz pour is more like a 5 oz pour but apparently they count the foam as coffee. I've been here 3 times and everytime it feels like I'm getting less coffee than I should do I finally measured it. Been over Starbucks these days, and craving a more homey and quaint coffee shop. I have tried pretty much every coffee shop in Austin, and there are some great ones...but Summermoon is my new favorite. Particularly this location. It has a sweet small town charm to it and serves a mean brew! South Austin has options when it comes to coffee, but I find this place is much more inviting. The staff is usually pretty helpful. Summermoon has yummy baked goods and even some gluten free options. This place is perfect to catch up with friends, read a book, or finish up some work on your laptop. They have lots of power outlets and a nice set up. My favorite drinks I have tried are the Iced Dirty Chai Latte and the Iced Vanilla Latte. Perfect for sweltering Texas days! read more

Quick stop the other morning for a pick-me-up. My friend (who is a huge fan) ordered for me. Now to preface this, I regularly drink my coffee black. No cream. No sugar. No syrup. No whip. I'm a simple man. He ordered us the Summermoon latte. Now how to describe the flavor..... I guess...."magical unicorns of love and happiness dancing across your tongue" would be the closest I could get. The first sip transferred me to a place of pure bliss. I was utterly speechless. All was right in the world. There was no wrong on the planet. World peace was a reality. I forgot the meaning of the word "woe". I had no stress. Whatever magical secret ingredient y'all are putting in there, I need to know, cause I need 39 gallons of it. Now on a realistic avenue, it was definitely a sweetened, flavored coffee which is off putting to me. I will definitely drink coffee here again, but maybe at half sweetness. I just moved to Kyle, TX from northern NJ a little over a week ago and did a quick search on Yelp to find a coffee shop in the area with good reviews, and sure enough Summermoon Cafe topped the list. Can I just say, the Summermoon latte is the BEST latte I've ever had. No exaggeration! It's sweet and just warms the soul. It tastes like it's made with love. I cannot wait to go back to get some more soon. The ambiance is fantastic too. There are quite a few tables to sit and relax, and I noticed there is free Wi-Fi, which is nice because I work from home and would love to do work in a nice coffee shop like they do in the movies lol. It has a small town feel but also has that awesome Austin flair. It's now one of my favorite spots! It seems to be in an up and coming area of Buda with a park, salon, and Tex Mex places nearby. I really wanted to love this place. It's located in the heart of Buda, a charming little town. The drinks are ok. Parking is limited especially weekend mornings and difficult to get in and out when it's busy. The decor is definitely a Texas touch meaning taking something old and making it trendy or repurposed. They have old singer sewing machines made into tables and baskets as lamp shades. I love it. The service I don't love. I get it. They hire teenagers to reduce labor cost but don't hire friendly teens or lack customer service training. It's not worth trying to find parking for the service. read more

Summermoon has probably became my new favorite guilty pleasure coffee shop. The Summermoon latte is off the charts. In the best way possible. It's rich and uber creamy and sweet pure deliciousness. *two thumbs up yo* My sister had gotten the half winter moon and it was equally as good. Although I personally have a sweet tooth so I preferred the full on Summermoon. The interior is actually kind of small.. Not a lot of sitting room. I frequent Summermoon a lot. It is a great little place to study or get work done. All of the outer seating tables have their own plug outlet which in 2016... big deal! The coffee itself is great! I usually don't like the taste but they use their own type of 'moon milk' and it gets rid of the coffee flavor and makes for a nice sweet drink. The staff have generally been great. Theres only one girl there who seems to have a bad attitude all the time, but the others more than make up for it. As a coffee shop, this is great, however, after stumbling on some articles related to the owner... I can no longer support this business. Shame. read more

Whatever they mix up to make 'moon milk' is heavenly. I probably don't want to know because I imagine it's condensed milk, evaporated milk and possibly some crack. On a recent road trip with one of my besties she started talking about this moon milk. Once we hit 5 p.m. traffic in Austin I said let's go get some coffee and bypass this cluster f**k of traffic on 35! We hightailed it to Summermoon and both ordered iced coffees half sweet. If I remember correctly that is a half wintermoon. So delicious and creamy. I can't see myself getting a full amount of sweetener because half was more than enough. While my friend went to the restroom the barista was chatting me up and gave me great directions to take some back roads through town and even drew me a cute map.
