Summer Moon is what Starbucks should aspire to. It's the same 2nd Wave coffee with a lot of milk and sugar to offset the dark roast espresso. The espresso is on par with higher end Italian espresso - rich, thick creama and just a hint of smoke. bitter enough that o dropped 2 sugar packets in. i'm not a fan of this style but i respect it and Summer Moon has done a good jon Americanizing it. the American part i didn't like was no ceramic much at all - not even for my expresso, the extra work required by me to explain 'ristretto' and that their Lamarzocco DOES make ristretto shots. Customer service was excellent. If i liked sweet milk, i'd definitely enjoy a Summer Moon espresso in it. I was impressed with SMC as a business and doing an excellent job at actualizing an ideal of coffee they have. However, being from the rich coffee culture of Pittsburgh i've yet to find my people here in Houston where i'm visiting my parent for the holidays. It was our first time at Summer Moon this past Saturday, it was highly recommended by our family and friends. Right when you walk in, the coffee aroma got us excited. My daughter had the Matcha Latte with their house made sweet cream which made it sweet to my liking. I normally don't like Matcha but this is the first time that I actually said I would get that one day lol. My husband and I shared their version of a Java Chip, it was not too sweet as other places and we loved it. We'll definitely be in every week so that we can try everything on their menu. The baristas were super sweet, helpful and patient with us especially for it being our first time so we greatly appreciate them all. Alright, I'm no newbie to Summer Moon, a matter fact I'm a Stand for their moon milk, and non dairy alternative versions. So, while in the area, I was excited to visit an old and familiar friend! For those who have never visited the concept, I'll admit, the menu can feel confusion- how often are you asked to decipher the difference between a blue moon latte, 3/4 summer moon latte, 1/2 sumner moon latte, 1/4 summer moon latte, 1/8 summer moon latte etc. Aware of the concept, this was a drive thru visit, and while the service was "just okay", the Moroccan mint cold brew did not disappoint! I've been here several times. The coffee is good and I like the little twist of moon milk. The staff is great and the customer service good. My main issue is a constant lack of seating. And the outside set up is less than ideal for shade or any sort of breeze. And both are fixable! Today a staff member took up an entire table for st least 30 minutes, getting up to work and then sitting back down. And another table was covered with someone's computer but no one in sight until after about 30 minutes the customer walked back into the shop. I went to Texas this past weekend to visit a friend. Since we were going shopping in this area, we decided to stop for coffee first. Summer Moon was easy to find with plenty of parking and even a drive thru! The inside was so pretty, and we were immediately greeted. I normally go for Matchas but decided to branch out while on vacation. I inquired if the syrups were gluten-free, in particular the Blue Moon latte with lavender, which they let me know they were. I'll be honest I did think this drink was going to be blue or purple for aesthetics, lol. They make a special type of Moon milk, which is explained on their menu. I went the dairy free route with almond milk. My friend ordered the iced sugar cookie latte, I believe which was a holiday special. We were both highly impressed. Moreso, my friend who is a big coffee snob, I drink caffeine a few times a month. My friend is excited to bring her husband here. I liked that my coffee was sweet enough and not gritty at all. We have been drinking Summer Moon coffee for years. We originally discovered Summer Moon when our daughter was in college in Austin, TX. The oak wood roasted coffee beans truly make a difference in the taste of the coffee. Also, the creamer is called "Moon Milk." Depending on your personal taste of desired sweetness, you can order a full moon (the sweetest option), a half moon, or a quarter moon. The best selling is the half moon. I prefer the quarter moon just because I don't like my coffee extremely sweet. They also have a variety of pastries. Some locations also have kolache's early in the morning. I was at this specific location in the afternoon and did not pay close attention to the pastry/kolache options. I am not 100% sure what they normally have. Bottom line - Fantastic coffee. It absolutely smokes the competition that is based in the Pacific Northwest. I highly recommend Summer Moon over anything from Seattle. If you have not tried it yet, you need to put your phone down and hustle on over and grab you a cup. Bon appétit, y'all. read more

I love this place. The drinks are delicious and they have a good variety of options and good food too. I love the snickerdoodle dirty chai with full moon milk. They also have refreshing blended drinks! I got a strawberry lemonade blended drink and it was fantastic in this heat. Service is always friendly. I've also been in the drive thru a few times and it's very quick and customer service is great there too. This is a nice place to go if you need to study or talk with a friend for a while. They close early evenings but you can move outdoors. They don't mind at all. It's usually quiet when I go, not to loud or anything. Parking can get busy at times but there is a pretty big lot and parking behind the building so you have a short walk. read more

Why 5 stars? Because the nitro hit the spot. --- --- --- It's always weird to write a review of a coffee shop when I stop in, order something like a black nitro, and walk out. Yes, I can obviously rate my coffee, but I always feel like I should try 3-4 things before I review a business. During a sit-down meal, you might order apps, entress, desserts, drinks, etc. So it's even more awkward to write a review based on one black nitro when I did not even step foot into the business because my wife picked it up and brought it home to me. But you know what? The nitro was awesome. And it was worth reviewing. It was smooth and did not have any weird fruity notes - a pet peeve of mine when it comes to nitro. It's a shame Summer Moon is much further via car than it is "as the crow flies," but it's nice to know that this is in Conroe when we're in the area. read more

TLDR: Summer Moon Coffee is a cute coffee shop with incredibly friendly and welcoming baristas. The location is convenient, and the ambiance is a comfy modern that is perfect for studying or catching up with a friend. The unique "wood-fired over Texas oak" roasting process replaces a lot of the natural coffee flavor with a toasty, smoky flavor that, to my palette, increased the bitterness, and muted some of the up-front acidity. The resulting brew pairs well with their "moon milk," which is a signature sweet cream that is super indulgent if you're in the mood for a treat (you can cut it with other milk offerings to customize the sweetness). If you're looking for a fun place to try some unique drinks and chill, pay them a visit! The Baristas I have been to Summer Moon three times, and on all occasions the baristas have been the definition of kind hospitality! They indulged my many and specific questions, offered me samples, and took the time to make a genuine connection. I left feeling appreciated and valued as a customer. They were knowledgeable about the product offerings, and able to make good recommendations. When you go, make sure to spend some time chatting and asking about the various options - you'll be glad you did! The Coffee Velvet Blaze Double Shot Espresso, Neat: I thought that the double shot was quite bitter, when taken neat. It had a big, bold body, and a thick mouthfeel. I detected some acidity on the linger, but not much. The cupping notes were roasted walnut, blackberry, and milk chocolate. I found more baker's chocolate in the cup. The roasted walnut, which I think is a quite bitter nut, came right through for me. Blackberry was more difficult to detect. I sensed that the wood-fired roasting process enhanced the toasty / smoky notes. I suspect this would pair really well with the moon milk, with the bitterness and sweetness blending to complement and enhance each other. Velvet Blaze Batch Brew: the batch brew of the Velvet Blaze had a thin, light body. Much like the espresso, I tasted the oak-smoke in the cup. The blackberry was a bit more pronounced in the filter option. Glowing Ember Batch Brew: the Glowing Ember is a Guatemalan offering with a medium roast. It also had a lower body, but, in contrast to the Velvet Blaze, more acidity up-front. I found toast and oats in the cup. The caramel sweetness of brown sugar was present, but less pronounced to me. The Conclusion Go visit Summer Moon in Conroe! Make a connection with the barista, and appreciate the unique flavor that the roasting process imparts to the bean. And if sweet drinks are your thing, don't leave without trying their Moon Milk - you'll be glad you did :) read more

We love summer moon! After moving to Conroe from the DFW area, we were definitely missing our go to coffee shops. Well, this place is it. Such a kind and caring staff(we've only been once but we can already tell). We waited a little while for our drinks, but we were given a free pastry for the wait. We totally understand as they just opened and are super busy. Definitely a place to go and get work done, read a book, catch up with a friend, or just roll through the drive-thru.
