We went to Pleasanton for the Alameda County Fair and this little gem near Bakersfield was a fantastic stop on our way back home. Kind of remote and west from the 99, Hanford is a small farming community not too far from Bakersfield. Has a real old-time feel. After checking out the town and their shopping mall, we headed to the fair. Great location. Huge parking area. Beautiful fairgrounds with a carnival run by Helm & Sons Amusements. There was a magician (Jeff Martin), a stilt walker (Rebecca Fireplug), and two jugglers (Circus Luminescence). There was a stage next to the Fine Arts Building which also had musical acts and dancers to entertain fairgoers. Further down the way they had their livestock barns and show arenas. Lots of local families with kids there to show their animals. All along the fair on both sides were vendors selling goods and services and food options typical of a county fair. Also, a great coffee/drink truck called Tom's - my wife's favorite. Love that we were able to add this fair to our ever-growing list of events and hope to return soon.

There were jugglers that did fun routines. Plus a grey cow that I really thought was so pretty. I'd definitely come back. I had a wonderful day.

The gallery is one of the finest small art galleries in the valley and has hosted many top notch artists from the west with their shows. The museum houses a collection of both local and regional history and is known to exhibit a surprising number of exceptionally rare artifacts from California history. I have seen documents from the Civil War Union army encampment, Camp Babbitt, located over in Visalia. The Union army posted the camp there to quell the Confederate sympathizers living in the southern San Joaquin Valley, and although it did so, it was at a price. The area is still a bastion of people from southern states, even today. Every museum has Native American artifacts and this one is no exception. For a small museum there is a very nice collection of many types of Native American artifacts from the past. Best of all there are video screens playing all the time with local historic photographs from the area. I am not saying this is the best museum I've ever visited, but for a small community, it holds its own for quality and collections. It really is a "Gotta See" place to visit when you are in Exeter at the antique shops and murals.

We've lived in our new house for a few weeks now... & everyday on my way to and from work I have…read morenoticed people working at the old Lemon Cove miniature golf place. I LOVED that place as a kid. And Lucas and I have been hoping that seeing them working on it means they are getting it up and running again. Well, today there were 3 cars out front on the way home so I decided to stop in! Unfortunately, my childhood mini golf course is not coming back to life. BUT the owner invited me in to check out the new events venue THE PAVILION! And it is pretty dang cool. It will be completed soon and is open to book for weddings and any other types of events! He is also hoping to (possibly) host a concert summer series out by the old bumper boat pond and an Octoberfest (starting next year) with beer and venues at each of the 18 holes (). So it might not be a resurrection of the miniature golf course like we'd hoped, but it's still pretty exciting to have something local hosting some fun events! The place looks amazing and a great view for any event! My review obviously is not based on an experience of hosting an event there, but the owner was really cool and the venue itself is pretty awesome! Definitely something to check out

I was in a wedding here in July. It was 115 degrees outside. Early in the morning, the AC…read moremini-splits stopped working (you heard me right - not a real AC unit, MINI SPLITS). They began spewing ice and that was it. The coolest room in the apartment/bride's room was 98 degrees from that point on. The rest of the room was hotter. No air flow. No cold water. Not a single place in the entire venue to escape the heat. The infrastructure couldn't handle an ice trailer that needed to be plugged in and it popped a breaker - my husband had to run it off his generator. The level of intense heat and lack of water (the fridge in the bride's room didn't work) was horrific and, frankly, a massive health risk. We were sweating out of our makeup and dresses. Unacceptable response from the venue host. who did NOTHING to fix the AC problem except tell us to close the windows and doors that were ONLY OPEN BECAUSE THE MINI-SPLITS HAD SEIZED UP AND WE NEEDED AIR FLOW. Little kids were on the brink of heat exhaustion and franikly, so were we. We spent all day chugging Liquid IV and hoping we didn't pass out. The heat was unbearable. Putting people through that kind of intense heat is a massive liability on the venue's part - INSANE. I am appalled and repulsed at the total lack of concern and infrastructure from the venue on the issue of cooling. Summer weddings should not be offered here, period. They are NOT set up for it.

I come to this event almost every year. Last year they held a virtual / zoom event and no one…read moreliked. This year, it was in person again. The crowd was smaller (at least the first day - only one I attended), I'm guessing down about 25%. For me, it was the best expo I've been to! People were in a great mood. I made more connections in one day than I have in my last 2 or 3 trips here. The number of exhibitors were also down as there was probably 4 or 5 empty tables on every aisle. Now, if you a mask freak and only attend events where everyone is wearing a mask, this place would not be for you. I think 2% to 4% of the people were wearing masks. If you are in Agriculture and haven't been to this event, you need to come in Feb 2023
