Summit is great! I attended this school for four years in high school and made some of my best friends. Summit prepared me greatly for college as I now attend a prestigious university where I am making exceptional grades. All of the faculty and staff go above and beyond to care for students. The Christian community fosters more of family like community amongst peers. I would recommend this school to anyone and everyone! read more

TW: racism and micro aggression We enrolled our daughter in the summer camp as a trial for the August enrollment, but we were deeply disappointed and concerned by the discriminatory treatment we experienced as an Asian American family. On Tuesday of the second week, our daughter contracted lice at the camp. We promptly notified the school and informed them that our daughter had observed other children experiencing itching symptoms. Since our other two children attend a different daycare and no one else in our family had lice, it was evident that the infestation originated from the camp. We took immediate action by treating our daughter and keeping her home the following day to prevent the spread of lice to other children. The initial response from the school was to require clearance from a pediatrician before allowing our daughter to return, a requirement that was not imposed on other children. However, upon consulting our pediatrician, we were informed that such clearance was unnecessary. We relayed this information to the school, and they school finally relented. In addition, the school deliberately chose not to inform other parents about the lice infestation, thereby denying them the opportunity to make informed decisions for their children's well-being. We made multiple attempts to contact the school through phone calls, text messages, and emails to obtain updates on the situation. We sought clarification on the actions taken by the school and inquired if other children had been checked and removed from the class. Regrettably, our communication was met with silence. Despite assurances from the receptionist that we would receive a call back within the day, we never received any response. Eventually, the school sent an email stating that the information was confidential. Our primary concern was to understand the current situation so that we could make appropriate arrangements for our daughter the following school day. Instead of addressing our questions and concerns, the school chose to ignore us. It is unimaginable to entrust your child to a school where you are unable to establish contact for an entire day. Such disregard for communication and the mistreatment we encountered are wholly unacceptable. The prevailing demographic makeup of predominantly white students and faculty within the school, combined with the treatment we experienced, left us feeling dehumanized. I also emailed them 4 times regarding an overcharge and after 6 days still no response. If you're looking for diversity, morals, kindness and inclusivity, look elsewhere. read more

My daughter has been at Summit Christian Academy since pre-K, she is now going into 5th grade. She has enjoyed all her years at SCA. Several of her classmates have been in class with her since Kinder. It is a very diverse school and the teachers go above and beyond to help students succeed. They have a fantastic music, Spanish teacher and PE coach. Many extra curricular activities. My daughter has done so well academically and is constantly being challenged. I recommend Summit to anyone looking for a private school! read more

Smoke and mirrors We recently moved here from another state and looked for an educational environment which was reflective of ours. The lady who toured us was very nice but vague with curriculum specifics and teaching pedagogy. We were introduced to the elementary principal who was kind and soft spoken with an interesting accent, and I asked again for more specifics around curriculum and teaching methods. After several attempts to give me a straight answer, I was told the curriculum is loosely based on TEKS but couldn't give us specifics on methods, assessments, and she said lesson plans were private. I felt like they put up a good front and boast "high academic rigor" yet weren't prepared to share details so we could make a good decision for our son. The campus is secluded in a partially gated area but reminded me of a compound penitentiary. The principal is a former National Guardsman who still thinks he is on active duty because everyone refers to him as "the Colonel" which seems weird to me. We gave this a hard pass and enrolled our son in a private school with a more reputable track record and transparency. read more

am uncertain how to start my review of this beautiful school. I feel that I would need to tell the world the entire story for you to understand. A few weeks ago my wife and I decided that public school has lost its calling for education. Students are nothing but a test score to them. We found Summit through a mutual friend that referred us to the school. On a Sunday afternoon I was able to speak with The Elementary Director. Not because she was working, but she had reached out to us on her day off. I asked her a few questions about the school and set up a tour. Tour day comes and we arrive at the school. We are met by the Assistant Head Master. She took us around the school explaining everything that we needed to know about Summit. She never tried to sell us on the school. She just explained what they are all about. My daughter loved everything about Summit, especially the cafeteria. So my wife and I decide this is the place that we want our daughter to attend. She started on a Monday. Wednesday comes and my wife goes into the ER thinking she had bad heartburn and only to find out she has Stage 4 Colon cancer. The cancer has spread to her liver and lungs. I called the school to inform them of the situation the next day so that my daughter could still function normally. Without any hesitation Summit jumped into action. The Head Master got involved. He came to see us Saturday morning before my wife's emergency surgery. He sat with me for a few hours before he had to leave. He prayed with me and helped me through some tough moments. After he left I received another text message from a Board Member. He brought me food and sat with me until my wife got out of surgery. He just sat there and listen to me. He never judged. Today after going to get food for my wife I came back to find another Board member with a gift for my wife.they have extended resources to our daughter and family in ways that only a loving family would. They have kept our privacy and loved on our daughter in ways that I could never explain Summit is the best thing that could have happen to our lives. It is not just a school, it is a family. They truly care about their students as well as their families. I cannot say enough good thing about this wonderful institution of God and Education. They are a true testament of faith and have reaffirmed everything that my family believes in. They have forever changed our lives and I do not think I could ever repay them. I love Summit so much. I started in ninth grade, and the teachers and students here have really helped me to grow in my confidence and comfort levels. I was really shy when I started high school, but now feel comfortable talking to any person that I meet. Also, the college prep class I took last year really helped me to prepare for the SAT and ACT and taught me a lot about the college experience. Most importantly, Summit has given me a faith community through which I can grow in my relationship with Christ and which I can serve. read more

We relocated and had to move our children. We were shocked to find out that our children were behind despite our children having all As at Summit. I've had to hire tutors and do a lot of additional work outside of school to catch them up. This really surprised me considering that they say they are at least a year and a half ahead of other schools. I was so bothered by this that I reached out to the parents of 5 other former Summit students that left at the same time as my children. They ALL have had the same experience and 3 of those students are now in public schools. One parent even cried when they told me and said that they feel like they have wasted all of their money. Most of their experienced teachers have left and have been replaced with teachers fresh out of school. They are all nice but they lack the experience. read more

This is absolutely wonderful school. I taught in public schools for four years, so I have knowledge of what is involved in teaching students. Our son went there for all four years of High School. He played multiple sports, and well academically. The college prep classes pushed him to learn study habits, and time management. The teachers are top notch, and the entire staff truly cares for each and every student. Our son finished his education there, and had no issues transitioning into university life. He now attends a private Christian University here in Texas, and is carrying over a 3.5 going into his junior year. His girlfriend was also a student there, and is just as successful as he is. I would absolutely recommend this school to anyone looking for the perfect place to not only prepare a student for future education, but life in general. read more

This school did irreparable damage to my very bright daughter, who was diagnosed with dyslexia in the third grade. Before we knew she had a disability, she struggled in kindergarten at Summit. One day, her teacher said, out loud in front of the class, "Katy, I know you aren't RETARDED, so you must not be trying hard enough, because everyone else is getting this except you." The children bullied Katy the rest of the year, calling her the "retarded girl" and NO ONE at the school did anything to help her. I took her out, but it was too late. She has permanent scars that will take a lifetime to heal. Kind of ironic when you consider that this is supposed to be a Christian community. read more

I love this school - it has been a great experience for our family. Amazing teachers, beautiful campus, meaningful character building service/ mission projects, a heart to really invest in and cultivate an atmosphere of community across the ages. This year is my oldest daughters first year at Summit. She was in public school for two years, we made the decision to have her repeat 1st grade. It's been great!! My I pick her up from school and she is always happy, this never happened at her last school. She loves praise and worship so chapel once a week is her favorite. I can openly ask any teacher here to pray with me. Today was see you at the pole, the entire school was gathered around the pole!! I loved it!! The teachers are genuinely loving to these kids. This school is teaching my child so much, her grades are better, her confidence has sky rocketed, no more bullying, and she is actually learning, more then just a number. My daughter has sensory processing disorder. We discussed this problem with the school before we even applied. They assured us they would work with her. After we paid all the fees and she started school they kicked her out after 4 hours. Oh, did I mention she's only 4 years old? Now they won't refund the application fee, claiming they cannot do so because it was nonrefundable. Um, you lied to us when you said you would work with her. How does this represent the Christian faith? Also, don't try to actually talk to the principal if something is wrong- he will never call you and his office staff will only email you. read more

My kids went to Summit until this past fall. My son went 10 years (through 8th grade) and my daughter for 5 years (through 3rd). Unfortunately, we had to choose another school due our finances and scheduling conflicts. I really can't say enough good things about them. Their staff is very professional and, even more important, caring! While you are there, you are truly family. There teacher to student ratio is outstanding! Their education is above par. My kids are currently going to a charter public school that is ranked #4 in the state. However, when my kids left Summit and started the charter, my kids were ahead academically in many subjects and not behind in any. My only small gripe was the cost and distance of their impact trips. I believe in the philosophy of the impact trips. However, I think they could find plenty of local areas to help versus having to travel out of state and/or country to help. read more
