It's a new view and the service was great. The food was bland. We had the tenderloin crostini and calamari, chicken avocado sandwich, salad with chicken and the chili. The crostini was way better than it looked up of being dropped at the table. It was my favorite thing. The calamari needed lemon. My husband said the chili was good and filling I never ate the sandwich, and the fried tastes like they were old fries that they refried. The salad was okay, but the greens seems limp and it was just kind of bland. They didn't have diet soda or unsweetened tea, and two kitchen staff members came out of the kitchen each with a beard and neither had a beard guard. Restaurant at the top of gondola up Crystal Mountain ski resort. Got a beautiful view of Mount Rainier on a good day if you sit by the south-facing windows. It's got that ski lodge feel to it. To go to the restrooms, you have to go out the entrance and down the stairs to the lower level. I guess they were optimizing for indoor space so they put the stairs outside lol. Went there on a weekday so it wasn't busy. We were a large group and they insisted that we would only be seated if everyone showed up, even though we were too big to sit at any single table (or tables put together). On the menu they have regular American pub food, with maybe some game meat options. Has a selection of beer, wine and cocktails too. I got the beef dip sandwich, which came with truffle fries. Was like $21 for the plate, and this is without cheese (which was an extra charge). Tasted okay. It's a restaurant at a ski resort, so you know you'll be paying extra for the location and views. I'm honestly surprised that the reviews aren't better for this place. We had a great experience. The were completely booked for reservations today so we took our chances and walked in right when they opened at 11. They sat us immediately by a window and I loved how cute the inside was. Service was great. I ordered the chicken caprese sandwich and my boyfriend got the burger with clam chowder. We both were very happy with our food. Let's be honest you're here for the view or because it's the only restaurant nearby...but still you want to feel like it was worth the $50 gondola ride (2 people). It's really not, in my opinion. Luckily the mountain was out so it kind of made up for it. Went for a late lunch on a Friday and they were on a 30 min wait despite having numerous open tables so I'm guessing they were understaffed. They were also out of 2 things on the fairly small lunch menu. We were seated by a window inside which was OK with us because it was a bit chilly out. Beers were good; nice and cold and decently priced for the most part. I had the bison burger with house chips. It was good and the toppings of blue cheese and caramelized onions gave it a little something extra. My friend had the grilled chicken entree salad and ate every last little bit so it must have been good. Overall the prices weren't as bad as I thought they were going to be and neither was the food. The service was just a bit lacking and our food took way to long to come out based on the number of guests and what we ordered. I'd go back for one of their special events. read more

Honestly I was expecting to come here just for the views and didn't have high expectations for the service or food. I was pleasantly surprised! The food and service were exceptional! Our server was obviously slammed but made time for us, checked in to ensure we liked the cocktails she made for us, and made great recommendations. The Parmesan truffle fries were delicious. What a view! During COVID times, they only have outdoor seating and lucky for us, we went on a beautiful day. We hiked to the top of Crystal Mountain just so we can gain an appetite and our reward would be a lunch at Summit House. Our plan was to take the gondola down so we only pay a one way ticket for the gondola. It was pretty busy for a Sunday, and the line was pretty long. Seating was first come, first serve and the seating area was packed. However, they was a quick turnover with the tables, so luckily we were able to get a table. Food was pretty good, however, it is way overpriced. Lets just say we ordered fish and chips, a burger, one soda and one hard cider and it came out to $80. I understand that we're at a resort and on top of a mountain, but wowzers. Also, you have to pay for the gondola to get up to the restaurant! So I can't imagine how much the total for gondola fare + food would be for a big family. Overall, I would say this is a nice place to take out of state visitors. If you're up there, might as well grab a snack and an ice cold drink :) read more

Wow... Where do I begin? First, the positives. Fantastic view of the cascades. Absolutely beautiful and is why I am actually giving it a second star. Now, the fails. From the moment I walked into this place and sat down, I couldn't wait to get out of there. Flies on the windows, the size of bald Eagles (yes they were huge!) were so close to our table and food, I thought for sure they would make their way onto it at some point. Also, bees were present and the table next to us had made a request to the very under dressed host to possibly remove them (maybe they were allergic? I am!). Our "heroic" host half-heartedly attempted to "shoo" them and then went on to devalue the request of the very people who are paying to eat there. I understand with that elevation, it could be difficult to manage these things but there seemed to be no interest by anyone that worked there to handle it. Onto the food.... When paying an exorbitant amount of money (to the tune of $300+ for two people) to eat here, I expect fresh ingredients, fresh preparation and high quality food selections. We got NONE of those things. The first two dishes came out barely warm and tasted as though it had been sitting for a while. The main course (rib eye & fries) tasted like the meat had been recently thawed and the hand cut fries were so soggy and under cooked, I thought they had been cooked by boiling them. It was an epic fail of a dining experience for my 1st anniversary only to be partially saved by the views we were able to soak our eyes with. Overall, just an extremely overpriced, underwhelming experience that will never occur again in my lifetime. read more

Just had their Fish and Chips today. Two orders one with chips the other with clam chowder. They use Halibut as much he fish. The Fish and Chips were some of the best I have ever had; here in the Pacific Northwest or Canada or England. Worked well with their Amber beer. We sat outside and ordered a burger and were excited to take in the views with a drink after the long drive. We were quickly rushed out for a private event 20 minutes later while still waiting for our food. Overpriced burger arrived and it was cold and fries tasted freezer burned. Staff seemed irritated to be working there and having to serve us. Super bummed on the experience because the views are amazing! Could easily have better food, better service, and please if you're planning a private event - give yourself and customers a buffer period to get out of the seating space? It was only 3:30pm!!! Okay damn the Summit House is leaving me impressed this season. The halibut and chips has been absolutely phenomenal, the batter isn't too thick and the fish tastes quality. Better than the fish truck at the base. They also do a bomb chicken club sandwich. I've been here many a time but food quality is better this season, props to the folks working the kitchen! We ordered the Bavarian style pretzel with cheese dip and stone ground mustard, which was one of the BEST pretzels I've ever had (I've traveled all across Germany/Switzerland). Hot and fresh out of the oven! There are tons of outdoor picnic tables open for use. Fast and friendly window/counter service. Overall, expensive for a small amount of food to pay for and enjoy. The calamari appetizer was $12 for six sticks. I didn't even get a chance to take a picture because there was none left for a party of six! Luckily the wife and I got to eat two pieces because our kids don't eat calamari. The Bison burgers were just basic hamburgers and nothing unique about it. Just overly priced because it's at the summit of the mountain. The fries were good and crispy. The peppercorn flank steak was really good and flavorful, even though it wasn't medium rare and a small cut. My mom got some veggie soup, I guess it was good. Didn't hear no complaints. The amber ale was a highlight for me with its smooth taste. Despite the overpriced food. Cody, our server, did a good job of being attentive. The food came out in a decent time. We used to have lovely experiences here, but we were horrified by this restaurant when we visited today... It all started with us asking to move tables. We were told no. We were a little annoyed because there were quite a few empty spots in the patio. Our food comes out. The servers deliver it to the wrong tables. They keep checking other tables. We flagged them down after we realized that they were holding our exact order. Then, our server ignored us during the entire meal... She went to the tables around us and asked how their meals were going, but simply walked by ours and said, "You have food, good." Never bothered to stop by once during our meal to inquire, but stopped everywhere else to do so. Why? I haven't a clue. We were being polite, so I genuinely didn't understand why she ignored us. Maybe our annoyance was showing. At one point, my mom ordered a beer. She received it in a chipped glass. She took a sip and then noticed it and notified another waitress... Who curtly said, "Okay" and then took the drink inside and just poured it into a new cup that had a bug in it. Needless to say, my mom didn't touch the "new" cup of beer. We've worked service jobs. When a glass is chipped, you don't serve drinks in it. But if you do and a customer notifies you, you should be giving them a new beverage because for all we know, there could be glass shards in the drink. And for goodness sake, don't return a drink with a bug inside it. At the end of our meal, we finally managed to flag down our actual server (who btw, only dropped by because she had our check.) My mom asked her to please take the beer off of our tab because she didn't touch it beyond those few sips. Our server said, "I'm so sorry. Okay." And then left and didn't return for the next 10 minutes. During that ten minutes, servers kept coming by and trying to take our dishes, which still had food in them. My dad got tired of waiting and ended up talking to the floor manager, who handled our bill very professionally. We were so disappointed with today's visit. My dad usually tips really well. We'll even leave 10% for shoddy service because we know servers depend on it. You REALLY have to push us to tip nothing. We tipped nothing today. read more

We drove 1.5 hours from Seattle just to go to this restaurant, and the drive the view was worth it the food was just OK, but as expected. Bison Burger - the chips were house made but a bit burnt/Smokey, the burger was good, coming from DC having bison is a special treat but nothing to write home about Kobe Beef Sliders - buns were too sweet but the display and portions were gone. Wild Game Chilli - consisted of bison lamb and elk in a bread bowl; the presentation was done well but the chilli lacked any spice or flavor besides tomato, sugar and bell peppers. They provided hot sauce which I used heavily. I'm not a fan of sweet chilli and I don't think the meat paired well with that flavor. Overall, I enjoyed it. It's $26.99 to get up to the restaurant on the gondola and it was a memorable trip, the view of Mt. Rainier is hard to beat. We went on a Saturday, during lunch time and we had about a 40-minute wait. They were not accepting reservations at lunch or we would have made one. No worries, we just sat and enjoyed the views as we waited. We sat at a table right by the hostess stand. The food was just ok and it took us a while to get our order. We ordered the Buffalo Cauliflower, Southback Salmon Burger, and Grilled Chicken Avocado Sandwich. There are vegetarian and vegan options available and some items are locally sourced. The menu items are pricey and like I said they were ok but they did not warrant the price. I am giving the restaurant 4 stars because we were there for the view of Mount Ranier and the hostess was amazing. She went out of her way to be kind to people as the wait for tables reached the two-hour mark. She even bussed our table for us so we could sit down. We could hear everything that she said to people requesting a table and she was energetic, friendly and she had the patience of Job. Whatever they are paying her, it is not enough. read more

Excellent experience! We went for lunch midweek and our food and service was excellent. Tyler was our server and he was very attentive. There were other members of the staff that checked up on us. The view was impeccable. The menu had something for everyone and I thought the menu was reasonable considering the view. We ate indoors which was fine but you could also dine outside. Tip: we went with toddlers so be sure to keep a very tight grip on them or babywear them/hold them because there are no guardrails at top and a child could easily fall off edge of mountain. The menu is limited for vegetarians but for others it is real comfort food at 6000 feet above the sea level. We ordered a veggie burger which comes with fries and fish tacos which came with rice and beans. I can tell you that the fries and rice were not prepared on site but were great anyway as everything was served at the right temperature. Staff is extremely friendly too. They get to work with a close-up view of Mt Rainier. The restaurant has outdoor as well as indoor seating. For the patio diners, be attentive and cautious of the chipmunks and the birds who may be tempted to sneak into the fries or anything on your plate. Had to move our table back a couple inches so I wouldn't have to eat my lunch off my rack. Probably another 10 minute wait before our waitress came to greet us. 10 minute wait for Irish coffee and a bottle of wine. She spilled the wine and cleaned it up with my napkin. Thankfully brought me new silverware and a new napkin. He ordered the BBB burger and I the BBQ pork sandwich. It was about a 20 minute wait for our food. His burger had two patties and my sandwich had maybe 6 quarter size slices of pork on it. I cut the bun in half and ate half the bun with my kid size meat. You could see the back of house from where I was seated. The floor was filthy, the trash can was overflowing and paper towels started falling on the floor, and they fill up the water pitchers in the staff hand washing sink. There was a cook back there who clearly thought he was Gordon Ramsey, yelling at everyone. The view is amazing, but you can see the view and eat a homemade sandwich from outside and deal with just as many bugs but with less noise. read more

This place itself is nothing more special than any other regular bar--except for locating at the top of the mountain. The options on the menu were a bit limited, we end up getting the burger and the grilled broccoli salad, they both tasted okay. The service was warm, and the view was great. So if it's cloudy, rainy, or the mountain is not clear, it probably doesn't worth it. But if you want to sit down, relax, and enjoy the gorgeous mountain scene with steak, salad, and a beer, then this is the place. A casual ski resort restaurant that serves up good food with a view. Expect a wait given it's a busy day on the slopes. Menu has a variety of heart warming dishes. I shared the French onion soup which was a good size, cheesy and loaded with onions. The skirt steak with truffle fries was decent. Meat could have been slightly more tender but we finished it. Fries were delicious! Bloody Mary was strong and spicy. It comes with a smoky maple bacon slice and vegetable garnish. Tasty and filling! I won't be back unless they waive the cost of gondola or significantly reduce it for those that are not skiing. Was looking forward to a scenic view during lunch, and the menu looked impressive. The calamari fries appetizer was good. The drinks were pretty watered-down. My wife ordered a bison burger, medium well, and it came out medium rare and was pretty tasteless. I ordered the wild mushroom pot pie, and what came out was a tiny rectangular ramekin with almost-room-temperature soup with a lot of tomatoes, and 4 mushroom pieces with a thin, warmed piece of pastry that was raw on the bottom. I think they made the pastry separately and just put a piece on top of essentially thin soup. I had to send it back because of the temperature. The replacement arrived within 3 minutes and the soup was much hotter, but the pastry top was the same flimsy almost-raw topper, and the ramekin was cold. If you're going to make a pot pie, you had better bake it in that damn pot. The micro greens placed on top were the only good idea, as they provided a green, earthy accent to an otherwise disappointing dish. The executive chef should be ashamed. The waitstaff, however, is spot-on. Come up for the amazing views, not the food. read more

Take the gondola ride to the top of the mountain, to get to this restaurant with a wonderful view of the mountains. The outdoor seating is great during summer- just don't forget your sunscreen lotion, a light jacket/coat and shades. This is probably the only place on top of the mountain, where you can get some food, so obviously it gets crowded, especially in winter, when everyone's out there skiing and snowboarding. Might want to make a reservation in advance for a large group. They sometimes don't take reservations for lunch, so check their website or call beforehand or try to get in early to get a table. Otherwise, it can be a long wait. Have been here twice and the food and service have been good. The chicken wings here are the best wings I've ever had. Juicy, flavorful and tender. Ordered the wings for appetizers and it was so good that I had to order another round after main course. Lol! I wouldn't mind driving 3 hours to this place just for the wings. So so good! The pasta and molten chocolate cake was also exceptionally good! If you are looking to kill some time and get a nice meal, a little hike and spend some time amidst nature, this is a good option and worth the drive from Seattle. read more

Came here on a beautiful winter day. It was a clear day and you can see for quite a distance across the mountain. I had a reservation for 11:45am. We arrived at 10am and parking was out to Lot F. We had to ride the shuttle and purchase our gondola tickets. I didn't expect the line for the gondola to be that long. We were 10 minutes late. The staff still honored our reservation and we were seated in a corner table by the window. Perfect!!! Amazing views in every direction. The ambiance has a more woodsy and cottage-like feel to it and very relaxing. The waiting area is quite small so I highly recommend making reservations. The staff is very friendly with excellent service. Our server checked with us every so often. We never felt like we had to ask for anything. Now comes the food. It's subpar at best. Two of us had the fish and chips. The coating was thick and kind of doughy inside. The positive is the fish was halibut. The fries were just ok. The salmon was kind of overcooked. The New York Steak was also over done and didn't have much flavor to it. The hot chocolate was too sweet. We were quite disappointed with the food especially at the price we had to pay. A unique "must do" experience when at Crystal Mountain. Make sure to secure a reservation as far in advance as possible. Apparently only staffed on weekends and weather permitting. On Thursday, I tried to make a reservation for my son and I for Friday. The app told me there was not room for a party of two until Sunday. I finally started playing with our party number and when I stated we were a party of four, bam, reservation accepted! Not cool Summit House. Sorry, not sorry, I had to be sneaky and pretend to be a larger party to get a seat. Aside from the booking drama, the experience and food were fantastic. The gondola ride (enclosed chair lift) was spectacular, even on a foggy day. We were ten minutes late to our reservation but they sat us right away. Didn't love that our server asked us to pull our masks up each time she approached the table. This was awkward while eating and drinking. It kinda made me want to leave a smaller tip but then I decided I was being too insensitive. Fish n chips, burger, and beer were all tasty and satisfying after a morning of skiing. We came around lunch time, with no reservation, 4 people, took about 15 minutes to be seated. What a view! The restaurant is nice, not too fancy, approachable woodsy decor. I have eaten at many ski resorts, and the food here was hands down the best quality ever! I had the Nicoise Salad, beautiful presentation, everything very fresh. the only thing was it had only oil for dressing so was kind of bland, and no salt and pepper on the table to spice things up, though I will say, I'd rather have too little dressing, than too much ;) The others food looked just as good.
