Our front door portico repair was completed by a single worker who worked tirelessly in the extreme heat to reconstruct our rotten portico. The new roof and reconstructed portico has improved the curb appeal of our home and speaks volumes to the quality of work performed by Summit Roofing. While we were out-of-town on vacation, we learned from neighbors that we had missing shingles on our roof caused by the high winds in early March. Concerned that the Northern VA area was hit by these strong sustaining winds, there would be many homes having siding & roof damage. So I contacted Summit Roofing while on vacation. I must admit that it took several attempts to get through because common sense predicted that any roofer would be busy after such stormy weather. Once I got through, I explained my situation (being out-of-town) and requested an inspection. A few days later when I arrived home, we obtained written estimate of repair and proceeded to have the roof repaired. All during this time, Carl the inspector/repairer from Summit, contacted me twice with updates regarding the inspection & repair. I have used Summit Roofing in the past and find them a very reputable company that will do the job right the first time. My earlier research at CertainTeed's' website reveal that Summit Roofing is one of their Gold Star contractors which means Summit Roofing is called on by CertainTeed for warranty issues/claims to ensure that their product(s) have been installed properly and repaired under warranty Many roofers can install CertainTeed products, but according to manufacturer's proper installation guidelines. After discovering a leak at two of our skylights we decided to have them replaced before the first snowfall. We also decided to have the pipe boots at the roof replaced because they were installed with the original roof over 20 years ago. Of all the roofing companies in Northern Virginia we picked Summit Roofing because they had performed a successful roof repair for the roof at our daughter's house in Falls Church, VA a year ago. Summit sent its estimators to our house in McLean, VA within a week of our request and the repairs were scheduled within the next 10 days. Since the estimate was reasonable, we approved Summit's proposal. Since the existing roof shingles had been discontinued by the manufacturer, Summit tried to match the shingles and showed us the samples which did not match the existing shingles. Fortunately, we had stored several bundles of the original shingles from when we built this house. Summit reduced their estimate since they could use the shingles that we supplied. Unfortunately, on the day of installation, the wind was gusting and for safety reasons the installation was postponed by a week. The work was performed very professionally and the crew cleaned up all the debris upon completion of work. Our house is a Victorian with very steep roof pitch (12x12) and we were happy to see that the crew were taking all the safety precautions needed for work on steep roofs. We are very satisfied with Summit throughout the process, from ordering the estimate to completion of work, and we would use this company should the need arise for future roof, skylight or gutter repairs. read more

I have been using Summit Roofing for the past 12 years and each and every experience I have had has been nothing but exceptional from dealing with the owner, Sam Fullerton to all his employees. You people should know that I am a perfectionist and when it comes to construction personnel working on my house. That being said; even when I had an issue or two, I received phone calls directly from Sam Fullerton, and he has even come to my home to assure me that the situation is being addressed and will be rectified to my satisfaction. We have worked with Summit Roofing Contractors a few times now. Very pleasant and efficient. Our first contract with them was a few years ago for a full townhouse roof. The selection of products and colors was abundant, the people I worked with on the phone were helpful. They provided me with extra advice for my HOA requirements. The roof was done beautifully and on time. The crew came when scheduled and cleaned the property up well afterwards. The townhouse is a rental investment. One of our tenants, who had moved out, had installed a satellite dish on the roof. During a windstorm, the dish fell off the roof, dangled, and threatened to break a window. The satellite company claimed the dish was now ours and they had no responsibility. Summit came over promptly, removed the dish, and made sure the roof was not damaged. There was no charge. Fast forward a few years. Another bad windstorm. Several rows of shingles blew off the roof. Our insurance adjuster checked the roof and gave us a rough estimate, even though the repair did not meet the deductible. Once again, I called Summit. Their quick estimate was right on target and the repair, with matching product, was done in a timely manner. Once again, they came when they said they were going to come, an important factor for us. In all these dealings, two people I would single out for helpful service are Sammy, Jr. and Shannon. I have another property in need of a new roof. Had to take stars off as the company started charging near a hundred bucks to come out and check the roof when it used to be free. I also had to make a lot of extra effort to make sure that they put me on the schedule and to bring a piece of my siding back to the shop to get the replacement color matched. 10/26/2014 I had a bad leak on my roof (a couple of nail pops and torn shingles). I called a local roofing company (Peak) to fix it and they were able to send a man out to give an estimate the next day but didn't have enough workers to fix it for about a week. However, Summit (Louis Summerville) was able to take a look at it and fix the roof the next day along with 3 other workers. When they were near finishing off the repair a swarm of wasps chased them off the roof. I had to bring in an exterminator in to kill them. Summit came back the next day to complete the roof without charging me extra for coming back. Afterwards Louis Summerville said that he would try sealing the entry point where the wasps were nesting and they came back the next week and did so AND repaired a new minor leak (missing gutter downspout)) on the front roof and did so at NO extra charge. That's pretty good service and how you develop a repeat customer by not charging them on every opportunity to do so. You give up a little on the front end and provide good service demonstrating good work and a desire to keep a customer which isn't that common in this area. The bill was under $400. read more

Of the four bids we entertained, Summit Roofing presented themselves the most clearly. This continued throughout the job, which we promptly accepted after our estimator, Benny, visited. The mailed initial estimate was unusually detailed, a good thing. Not only did it include a clearly written proposal and a color/style brochure from the shingle maker, but it also had copies of reference letters, insurance and license certificates. VA Class A contractor. Other firms sent salesmen who did not really know roofing. Benny absolutely knew his way around a ladder, and had no problem adding extra line items we wanted onto the final proposal. Scheduling went smoothly, with materials and crew arriving as promised. There was a minor issue in which no eave vent materials had been ordered, but the firm was able to quickly correct the oversight, sending a truck to the depot the moment foreman Javier understood the concern. Thanks to good communication and sufficient manpower, this caused no actual delay. The job was completed in the estimated time. Kudos to the trailer trucking crew. The haul-off of the tear-off could not have gone more smoothly. The small company-owned trailer was ideal for our fairly tight, close-in property. This was not a loud and difficult roll-off job by others. New roof looks good. As normal for a roofing or drainage job that has gone well, looking forward to a hard rain to test it. read more

Waking up at 3:00 a.m. to water dripping above your head is not pleasant. Summit Roofing was able to come out and identify the problem pretty quickly. The technician showed me pictures and thoroughly explained my repair options by pointing out things to compare on my neighbors' roofs. He gave a brief background of his time with the company and was very personable and professional. He also wore his mask and briefly explained the company's COVID procedures. The estimates he provided via email were what he had told me the work would cost and were also very competitive with the market. I scheduled an appointment and the work was completed the following week. Both the inspection and the actual work were completed on time as promised. I really appreciate that everyone I interacted with, either on the phone or in person, was courteous and super respectful even though my job turned out to be relatively small for them. They were honest and told me that the roof looked good and did not need to be replaced, just needed a little maintenance and made a recommendation that could help reduce issues in the future. I highly recommend Summit Roofing and will definitely use them in the future when it does need replacement. I found them on my own but have since noticed their trucks throughout my development doing work for many of my neighbors. I requested a quote from this company, they sent someone out to look over the roof. They sent me an email with the written estimate/proposal and recommendation along with literature about the product/shingles. There was no selling tactic, no 90 minute presentation. It I had any questions, I had a choice to either call or email. They were very prompt on responding to all of my concerns. They did an outstanding job with my main house roof, the bump out flat roof and gutters. They discovered issues on the flat roof I didn't even know about which took some time to repair. A special piece had to be hand crafted to connect to my metal garage to ensure that it does not leak. The price was fair and the time spent addressing my concerns was priceless, along with the several last minutes changes/additional. Each crew that he send to do each project were professional and thoughtful of the property, using tarps to cover plants and walkway. If I had a question for any of the crew, they was able to explain exactly what they were doing and how they were doing it in a language that I can understand. Upon completion of the roof all trash was completely cleaned up and hauled away. A magnet was used around the perimeter of the house for nails, etc. I can't say enough how satisfied I am with the process from start to finish. God bless you Mr. Samuel F. Review of work done by Summit Roofing Company, Manassas, Virginia On two different occasions in August 2020, I called Summit Roofing Company to repair flashing issues on two parts of my roof. Their were two separate teams of two workers who fixed both problems cause by an aging roof; both were leaks. In each case, the responsiveness was excellent for the repairs needed. They were very respectful of the health issues going on with Covid 19 and we were able to identify exactly where the roof issues were without putting me at any health risk. They were able to take pictures before and after their work so I could see the finished product on the roof. I researched local costs and they were certainly very competitive and reasonable. They cleaned up after the job which made my wife and I very happy. Being a long time Manassas resident, I have routinely heard of only good references about this company. A consumer saying I have heard for years, namely, "the bitterness of poor quality and service remains long after the sweetness of low-price" has been advice I take strongly before I make a decision on a company. In the case of Summit Roofing, they have high quality and workmanship standards, great service from their home office and a price that is extremely good. As rain was coming through my soffits and had not had roof inspected for about a year and a half, I contacted Summit and Carl came the next day to tell me my roof, which was over 20 years old, was wearing out and there was no drip edge and the shingles near the gutter were worn down so that rain wasn't draining properly. Received estimate from Carl/Joe. There were no deviations of price after job was completed. I have a townhouse with a mansard roof. The job took about three days because of the mansard roof and gutter replacement. In addition, they replaced both my front and rear gutters as they were both damaged. The crew had the main part of the roof scraped off and re-shingled the first day. I only had to have one sheet of plywood installed on the mansard. The crew cleaned up the nails with a magnet and blew off the small amount of debris. I must say there wasn't much mess while they were there. A roll of their underlayment fell onto my lawn and they came and fixed the dent it left. Carl was also nice enough to take a satellite dish off the side of my roof which old neighbors had attached without my permission. He was very careful. He also took a look at my attic fan which had stopped working, and made some recommendations. They've been very nice to deal with so I highly recommend them for their workmanship and price. read more

From the estimate to completion of the roofing job, Summit Roofing was very easy to work with, very dedicated to customer service, professional, fast, and on top of my roofing job There was no pressure from sales rep, instead he (Joe Ortiz) took the time to provide details on the products they would use, provide references, certifications, insurance information and ratings. He always responded quickly to my email or text questions. He was on time with delivery, which was done with great care, even covering my driveway in case the truck dripped oil. Products were placed directly on roof, The roofing job was done in one day on the day promised. The install crew worked as a team, no wasted time or effort. The removal debris was cleaned up thoroughly. They worked with precision. They even brought their own generator to provide power needed for the tools. I was provided full description of all materials to be used so I could verify that they used quality materials and made sure the install was properly done. There was no pressure or salesmen tricks or gimmicks. Summit did not ask for payment until the job was completed. All the installers had CertainTeed Master certifications not just the company. Summit Roofing is AWESOME from beginning to end! My husband and I were approached by SO MANY roofing companies when a hail storm came through our community. We wanted to work with a company that had an established reputation in our area and we saw that Summit has been here for nearly 50 YEARS with excellent ratings. We learned why their ratings were so great when they responded the very day that we requested an estimate; worked with our insurance adjuster, and helped us with shingle selection by giving us the addresses of homes in our area with the type of shingles that we were considering, so that we could see more than just a photo or a 1-piece sample. The team was very careful with shrubs around our home, they caught any items falling from the roof on tarps all around the house, they threw the shingles into a trailer and not onto the ground and when the job was done they looked thoroughly around the house and used magnetic rakes to be sure that all the nails were up. The roof looks spectacular, even though they had 3 angles on our roof, 3 skylights and solar panels to work around and 2 bay windows with their own little mini-roofs - perfect! Beautiful! We bought our home two years ago and the roof was replaced in 2014 by the previous owner through Summit Roofing Contractors. Recently we began experiencing leaks above the bay window. I went to Summit Roofing and was impressed with the excellent customer service shown me by the two ladies in the lobby. I was informed that the warranty extended to us as the new owner. Later I met the manager Sam Fullerton who was very professional and based on his over 30 years of experience, he was able to tell me what the issue was after an assessor went at our home. Mr. Fullerton informed me that they will re-caulk the window above the bay window where the water leak came from and clean the old roofing caulk around the seal above the bay window. Surprisingly, I was very very surprised and excited when I came from work few days later and saw the work the contractor was doing. He replaced the roof over the bay window, put in new flashing, caulked around the flashing and re-caulked the window above the bay window. What a Phenomenon job Well, Well done. The contractor was very friendly and professional. Today, there is no more leak through the bay window ceiling and we are very happy and excited for what Summit Roofing did for us. Sam Fullerton, our project manager, responded to my call for a free estimate. He came within 2 days to inspect the roof and provided the written estimate the following day. There was NO hard sell, no requirement for my husband to be present at our meeting, just courteous, fast service, most of it accomplished via email. Total cost $12,210. I had received 2 other estimates (one was a painful 2 hour ordeal with a ridiculous $21,000 price), the other came in $1,000 higher for the same job. When I called to say I wanted to schedule Sam came out within a couple days to show me the shingle samples. The crew came 2 weeks later and completed all work in 2 1/2 days. The crew was courteous and hardworking. All debris was collected in a small dump truck and hauled away. I have found no debris in the yards since they completed. I had one question after the work was completed and Sam responded immediately. Two other neighbors had used Summit prior to me, I watched the crews work and was impressed by the speed of the job and the beautiful finished product. Summit Roofing did an amazing job! Listed below are the positive and negatives of my experience. Positives -Excellent selection and variety of product -Overall process was easy. You get to choose the style of shingle, underlying material, and ridge vent Clean up (Very Important) was very excellent. So far, no nails in tires or in dog's paws. Prices are competitive Negatives No personal interaction. Everything was done via email. No one actually came out to survey the job. All images were taken from Google Earth. Lack of communication on when the job was to take place. (see below) Overall, very satisfied with Summit Roofing. Like I said in my negatives, no one came to the house to ask questions or survey the job. I received an email with a date that the material was going to be delivered and an approximate time frame the workers were going to complete the job. The only way I knew my roof was getting replace was the night before a worker knocked on the door to ask permission to park his waste trailer in my driveway. But, the work crew showed up promptly at 7 AM and were completely finished by 1 PM. Very efficient and very clean. So, I would recommend Summit Roofing for your roofing needs. read more

We are very satisfied with Summit Roofing. In 2001 they installed the original shingle roof on our new home and a new one in 2025. A few times when we had the roof damaged from extreme storms or limbs falling from trees, we called Summit. We spoke with Shannon, the customer service manager, and asked for Luis, one of the expert roofers, to evaluate the problem and get it fixed. One time, we were grateful Luis, who had a full schedule for the day, came to the house late in the day to patch a small leak in the roof right before a major rain storm. When it was time to get the roof replaced, we got 4 bids, some of which were high because of our zip code. We spoke with Anibal, Summit's roofing estimator, about the roofing options. He patiently answered my questions and gave us a competitive bid. We selected Summit and they installed the new shingle roof last summer over two days. This year I wanted passive vents removed from the roof. Shannon scheduled the work quickly and Osvaldo and Jovan removed the vents in one day. We have peace of mind the new roof will last 25+ years. We called and scheduled an appointment for an estimate along with two of their competitors. One of the competitors was a no show, and the other had some very tricky (if not downright predatory) language in their contract. THIS company however, summit roofing, was different. The gentleman who arrived to give us an estimate (his name is Joe) arrived promptly, was knowledgeable and professional, and helped my wife pick what she wanted from their catalog for our new roofing and siding. They patiently waited while we got permission from our local housing association which took about a month, and then they ordered the material. The workers were hard working, courteous, accommodating to our toddler which was constantly running around, and spoke English well. There was a slight hiccup during construction in that after the first day's work was largely done we discovered that they had neglected to install the insulation and wrap and were instead only removing the old siding and putting on the new. Once this problem was brought to the management's attention, however, the issue was quickly and promptly resolved. The end result is fantastic - the house looks great. read more
