Recently had to replace a couple of roofs in Culpeper. Price was lower than competitors, for a better shingle. Work force was friendly, solicitous and efficient. Finished ahead of schedule and no problems at all. No extra charges or padding the bill. Incurring extra charges is a famous problem with roofing companies, but there was no attempt here. Peak Roofing is an INCREDIBLE company! Their team just completed new roofing on our home and three additional structures on the property and Karla Grove Miller and I could not be happier! Their employees' attention to detail, communication and execution exceeded our expectations. Our roof was 20+ years old, needed many new 4x8 sheets once the old shingles were removed... the "additional cost / change order ?" MINIMAL and very fair... For us, re-roofing a 1903 home with a 1927 addition and old outbuildings presented challenges that only could be addressed with an experienced foreman and his team. Peak Roofing did an amazing job restoring our home! Unfortunately, we had a power washing contractor use improper technique when he was cleaning our siding. He mixed the wrong chemicals and used high pressure which heavily damaged all of our vinyl siding. The end result was needing to replace all of our siding - which was only 8 years old! We had used Peak for repairs on our previous home. We knew they did great work and decided to give them a call. Bruce Jones came out the next day. Instead of doing a quick drive-by estimate, he spent hours with us. He jumped right in and got his hands dirty -- trying several different ways to restore the damaged siding. We talked through several different ideas, but we ultimately decided it was best to replace everything. There was no high-pressure sales. Bruce presented us with a few different options, answered all of our questions and gave us time to think through everything. He was friendly, knowledgeable and left us feeling like our house was in good hands. After we signed the contract, the office staff was terrific. They kept us informed on the order status and got us on the schedule right away. The supply company showed up right on time. The driver was great. He easily placed two very large pallets in our garage for safekeeping. The day that the work started, our job site supervisor, Donnie showed up early, ahead of the crews. He introduced himself, checked in all of the supplies, and walked us through everything that would be taking place. He was very friendly, professional, and answered all of our questions along the way. He made sure that the crews were protecting all of our landscaping and all of the undamaged sections of the home. Little details that mattered: The crews used padded ladders against the gutters, foam padding between the ladders and metal roof and ground cover to protect the grass and mulch. Donnie made sure I always knew what was happening and addressed any concerns I had right away. I noticed lots of attention to detail. The workers looked happy, were laughing and smiling and definitely took pride in the work. For a homeowner who's house was just damaged by another contractor, this was exactly what we needed to see. The end result is amazing. Our house looks completely restored...actually better than it was - at a very fair and reasonable price. I had roof damaged and even after the insurance paid for the repair, my roof looked horrible with mismatched shingles. I went on ahead and decided to replaced the entire roof because it needed replacing anyway so I called Peak, and they came out and gave me a quote ( no haggling). I can not compliment this company enough (and I can't believe I didn't review them sooner). My house in Culpeper was built in 1993 so once it hit 25 years, I decided it was time to start thinking about replacing the roof, especially since I'm planning on keeping the house. In March 2018, I called three companies based on Yelp reviews. Roofer #1 sent me a quote without ever even talking to me and they had the lowest price. Roofer #2 came out and talked for literally an hour and a half and was in the $11K range, which was more than twice what the first company quoted. Roofer #3, Peak, provided a price that was more inline with the first company, albeit a little bit higher, but Mike actually took some time to answer my questions...and I had several. Feeling totally comfortable with them, I decided to go with them. There really isn't a lot to describe about the process after that. They scheduled the work for April 27th, but it was scheduled to rain that day, so I was a little nervous. They showed up on time and had everything completed the same day. They were quick, did quality work, and completely cleaned up after themselves after it was completed. I did need a small amount of replacement roof decking (I can't remember what the actual term is), but they did say that could be possible. Regardless, it wasn't a lot. The only problem that occurred was that after they pulled off all the existing shingles, there was a downpour that stained the ceiling in the living room, but they sent a contractor in to repaint. The contractor seemed a little flaky, but they did make the repair and all was well. In the 8 months since the roof was replaced, there hasn't been any problem identified at all. Absolutely nothing. Can't ask for much more than that. Fast forward to December 2018: My tenant reports that the rain cap for the HVAC vent blew off and landed in the backyard. Not being the handiest person in the world, I contacted an HVAC company to replace it, but was informed I needed to call a roofer, so I called Peak again. Mike came out, but didn't have anything on his truck, so he said he'd have to get back with me. He called a few days later, said that he had a new rain cap and would install it for me at no charge...which I absolutely did not expect, but very much appreciated. This review is not related to an insurance claim. This review is for a townhouse roof, gutters, new windows and a door. This was my first time having major work done on my house and I didn't really know what to expect regarding the process of getting a quote and then the eventual work being done. The March 2018 windstorm made me replace my 25 year old roof. Because of the rush, I didn't have time to really research the whole roofing process, I only had time to research roofing companies on Yelp and on home improvement websites and read that architectural tiles are the way to go vs slate shingles. Peak was highly rated everywhere, including recommendations from my neighbors. Peak came out pretty quickly considering they were slammed with requests throughout the entire region. My sales rep was a very nice gentleman named Mike. He was running late for our appointment and I had to be somewhere else, so I wasn't able to meet with him in person to ask questions. It took a few days to get the quote, which I understood due to the surge in requests due to the storm. I was able to get many of my questions answered by Robin in the office or from Mike in email. I also requested some changes and then added on the gutters. They did not get impatient with me as I kept making changes. I decided to go with Peak, not based on price, but on the professionalism and my dealings with Mike and Robin up to that point. After I signed my contract, I noticed that they also installed windows, so I had Mike come back out and give me a quote for windows as well and feel I received a fair price based on research I did for these windows. With the windows, I have to say I was really annoyed at this process. Mike came out and measured the windows and gave me a quote. The next thing I know another person has to come out and measure the windows again to place the order. I was never told about this and I was really annoyed that I had to take more time off of work for this extra step. For the roof and gutters, I was given a sheet about what to expect, when the tiles would be delivered (the day before). I didn't need to be home for this work. I came home around 6 pm and it was starting to rain and the team putting on the gutters were just finishing up. The entire place was spotless and you wouldn't even know anyone had been there working. Because I wasn't home when they finished, the foreman had to come back the next day to meet with me to do a walk through and answer questions. I am really not able to see the entire roof as there is no good vantage point in a townhouse community, especially with the trees in bloom, but what I can see looks good. The foreman could not have been nicer and he was able to answer all of my questions. I was very pleased with the whole roof experience. For the windows, Robin indicated this needed to be done after the roof went on, so the window and door install took place a couple of weeks later over a 2 day period. I had to be home for this install. The team arrived on time and they could not have been nicer. They got right to work. At first they needed a place to stage all of the windows and door. Since I don't have a garage, they used my basement den area. They said they would start at the top and work down. The builder of my townhouse installed metal frame windows and they had a really hard time getting them out. It took about 2.5 hours for them to figure out how to rip those things out and once they did, the rest of the install went much quicker. At the end of day 1, they were cleaning up and vacuuming and I told them not to bother as I wasn't going to be in the area where they staged everything. I appreciated that they wanted to make everything look nice even though they weren't done but it wasn't necessary. Day 2 was a shorter day, less windows and one door. As they were wrapping up, I started my own walk through checking on each window to see if there was anything that needed to be redone or was scratched. But I couldn't find anything. Before they left, they gave me a training on how to open, close, lock and clean them. He gave me the top things people call about when they can't get the windows seated properly after opening them. I can't say enough about this team. They worked very well together. They didn't chit chat and the only talking I heard was about what they were doing. I never heard or saw them on their phones. And all of the employees I dealt with spoke highly of the company. And I really love the Softlite Imperial LS double hung windows. I did some research and they are a good mid-range quality window with a lot of great features. My favorite feature is that they really help with outdoor sounds. Previously, my neighbors could be outside and it sounded like they were sitting in my living room. I set my thermostat at 78 when I leave for work and my house has not been higher than 71 even on high 90 days. Highly recommend. read more

We recently had Peak replace our roof, hang new shutters and completely restore all the trim on the front of our place to include renewal of to prominent gables that were getting pretty beat. Brad gave us a quote that was transparent and surprisingly reasonable and Peak over-delivered. They did the job over two days and everything just looks amazing. The difference in the appearance of our house really is shocking. Our project coordinator, Tina, was super helpful, communicative and accommodating. The price really was much more reasonable than I expected. Our 25 year-old house was really starting to show its age and the improvement is just night and day. I asked for a quote for a roof replacement. I generally liked the process and the company; but for one very huge, very red flag. The estimator actively promoted and encouraged a GAF asphalt shingle installation on a roof with a pitch of less than 2 in 12. That definitely runs afoul of common practice: two other roofing companies said shingles shouldn't be there and my home inspector said the same thing. It runs afoul of the manufacturer's recommendation (I read their installation instructions and called the manufacturer's technical helpline just to be sure). And, I think is probably runs afoul of building codes. To quote my Home Inspector, "Asphalt shingles cannot be installed on a slope less than 2 in 12 (manufacturer's installation specifications, industry standards, and most 'code' standards - note - in general the manufacturer's installation specifications will supersede code requirements)." To my lay understanding of the 2015 Virginia Residential Code, with section R905.2.2 specifically referenced in the quote, I think the proposal runs afoul of building codes. "R905.2.2 Slope Asphalt shingles shall be used only on roof slopes of two units vertical in 12 units horizontal (2:12) or greater. For roof slopes from two units vertical in 12 units horizontal (2:12) up to four units vertical in 12 units horizontal (4:12), double underlayment application is required in accordance with Section R905.1.1." To emphasize, the estimator made clear that he knew that the roof was less than 2 in 12. Yet he recommended asphalt shingles anyway. Beware. read more

From the first call to completion of our roof, Peak Roofing was extremely professional, responsive and fair. Peak gave us an estimate for the roof while our house was in escrow (as it was vacant and the owner gave us the OK) which was incredibly helpful following our inspection and gave us time to assess our financials before scheduling the job. A few other companies I called refused to work with me while the house was in escrow and another simply didn't show up for the estimate. After scheduling the job, we needed to move the date to accommodate weather and travel, and Peak was flexible. We even changed our minds for the color of the shingles the day after we confirmed and Peak was quick to respond and switch the order. I spoke to the owner, Bud, who walked me through his quote and answered my questions so I felt comfortable with every line item, the materials, and guarantee of workmanship (which can be a bit intimidating for someone who's never had to replace a roof before!) Robin followed up with me promptly and let me pay by credit card which was super convenient as well. The work was done professionally and QUICK - the guys were at the house at 7AM and out by 5PM, including removing all the debris and cleaning the area. Just in time for the next snow storm! Took a couple of weeks to get someone to stop by to take a look at my chimney hood, which had two tiny rust holes in it that needed to be patched to prevent rainwater from coming down my boiler exhaust. By the time the guy showed up, my handyman had taken a look at the roof and told me precisely what was wrong. When the Peak roofing guy looked at the roof he said he couldn't see any problem, so I repeated to him what the handyman told me. Peak Guy then got back on the roof and came back down, saying that NOW he saw it. So that wasn't very reassuring. He put together an estimate, stacking other services (like cleaning gutters) on top of the simple chimney fix until he got to Peak's magic estimate number of $500. Fine. Whatever. Just fix it. Several days later I got a call from the office woman who told me they needed a 50% deposit up front before they would schedule the repair. Again -- this is for a minor repair and cleaning gutters (a deposit to clean gutters?). I've seen enough episodes of "Catch A Contractor" to know there is a naturally-occurring fishiness with the entire industry, so I told them I would prefer not to give them access to my credit card for such a low-cost repair that is basically all labor (not supplies). No dice. No deposit, no repair. I gave them the information they wanted. And then I waited. As of today (at least a week later) there has still been no contact about setting up a date or time. Fortunately, there has also been no charge to my credit card, but I check every day waiting for the other shoe to fall. I don't get a good feeling about these people, from the way the roofer couldn't see the problem until I told him what the handyman said to the way they demanded a $250 down payment to clean gutters. Peak Roofing Contractors did an amazing job from beginning to end with our nightmare experience dealing with our insurance company. We had already contacted two other companies prior to them, submitted photos and had adjusters involved. We were told that we did not have enough wind damage to qualify for a roof replacement even though we were missing shingles on multiple sides of our roof. In addition to this, every single shingle on our roof is damaged and cracked. Our shingle was discontinued and no color match can be found. Peak Roofing took the most amazing pictures to reveal this information to our insurance company. We were finally awarded a replacement. After multiple terrible interactions with other roofing companies in the area that either never showed up, never provided an estimate, or just didn't return calls, Peak came through for us! From the first second I called to make the appointment I knew they were different...so dang friendly (which is a SERIOUS bonus around here!). They got someone out within a few days for an estimate which was provided on the spot and we got scheduled to get fixed within two weeks...long than I hoped for considering the ceiling damage we were getting from the leak, but I figured it couldn't be much worse... The guy showed up for a 12-2 appointment a few hours early - the reason they aren't 5 stars in my book. Had the Boy not been home we would have missed our appointment... UPDATE: (November 4, 2015) Not to drag out this review but I wanted to add an update. I spoke with Denise from Peak and she investigated my complaint concerning lack of contact. She sent me a copy of an e-mail that they had sent. We checked our spam folders and what not and still didn't find a copy - technology certainly isn't always 100% so I agreed to have Peak perform the work. (I'd still suggest that they follow-up by phone if a potential client doesn't respond). Donnie came by yesterday and knocked out the repairs really quick and was very pleasant. I've increased my initial review from 1 STAR to 3 STARs because I believe Peak went to significant efforts to address my issue. After the next rain, and assuming that the repairs did the trick, I'll be sure to revise the stars up again. PRIOR REVIEW: We have a small hole in our roof and called Peak. An employee came out within a day and indicated that it would be a small repair and that they would e-mail an estimate. Never heard back from him. We called and left messages and e-mailed him directly. And still no word going on 3 weeks since his visit. I consider that not only rude and inconsiderate but obviously terrible customer service. If they weren't interested in doing the work the least they could do was tell us. If customer service is this bad I question the quality of their work. And in 4 or 5 years when I need a new roof I know one company that I won't be calling. read more

Great guy!! I made an appointment to have someone come out to look at my bay windows which appeared to be leaking water into the house during heavy rains. The owner, Buddy, came out exactly on time, called ahead to give me a 15 minute heads up that he'll be arriving shortly, and did not rush at all to give a quality assessment of what the problems could be. Even after I mentioned to him that I may try to recaulk it myself, he still took the time to explain how to test each spot for leaks first, and what type of caulking to use. Roofing Services: new roof and gutter guards (started: 6/19/2015 completed: 7/9/2015) We found Peak online and didn't know anything about them. After reading the social media reviews I decided to have them come out and give us an estimate for a new roof. A roofing sales rep named James came out and he was very knowledgeable on their products and services. After listening to my concerns about my current roof, he was very thorough in explaining the products, options, and their process. Contract signed on 6/19 and the work was scheduled and completed on 7/9 started promptly afterward. Mike, the roofing foreman and his crew arrived on time and ready to start on the morning of the job they were finished that afternoon and it looked great! While they were removing the old shingles off roof I was surprised by the amount of debris everywhere. I had nothing to be concerned though, as they actually left my yard cleaner that it was before they got there. Not a single nail or piece of shingle found yet! I usually always keep very thoroughly detailed notes on any contracting work I have completed on my home. The roofing crew was in and out so fast, the above review pretty much sums it up. Saw one of their trucks on the road and decided to call for a free estimate to replace some missing shingles. They came out on time to provide an estimate which was fair and reasonable. The day of the roof repair again they showed up on time, completed the work as promised and were extremely courteous. I have had multiple other roofers give me estimates for the same work and they all wanted to do much more than was needed. Just wanted to say thank you to Peak Roofing in Haymarket! They did a fantastic job on my roof and with all the storms we've been hit with lately I'm sure several of you are in need of a new roof too. In addition to the great job they did on the roof the workers are beyond polite and did an excellent job cleaning up after themselves and protecting my landscaping, cars, kids toys etc that were around the house. There was also a nice surprise. They have a "Roof for Troops" program where they price match a national program that gives Vets a discount on the materials used to replace your roof. My roof was completed a few weeks ago and I received a phone call asking for my DD214.... when I asked why I was told Peak Roofing was sending me a $250 check to thank me for my service. This was really above and beyond, I knew I was getting a $250 discount on materials but I had no idea the roofers were going to send me an additional check, they certainly did not have to do this and they didn't even use it as a selling point upfront, just a really nice thank you after the fact. Peak roofing has installed a new roof and gutters, in addition to gutter cleaning, at our home. From the time of the estimate, until the projects were complete (three separate occasions), they have been extremely professional, polite and responsive to our needs. Phone calls to the company are answered, and one more than one occasion, the workmen have called prior to arrival to let us know they were on the way. Peak recently helped us out with a time-sensitive repair to several damaged shingles. James, the estimator, came out the very next day (a Saturday, in fact) to assess the repairs. Within one week, the shingles were replaced by Troy, who could not have been any more professional. Peak finishes all of their jobs as promised, including complete clean-up of the site. Just called Peak Roofing because the last thunderstorm revealed some leaks in our roof. We needed repairs. The Lady who answered the call told me that they are not doing repairs until at least September. They do only complete replacements. I thanked her and am looking for somebody else. My take: It sounds a pretty arrogant that they are only interested in big projects. By September my roof damage is already repaired and forgotten. Peak Roofing Contractors replaced my Manassas townhome's roof 5 years ago. Last Friday their employee Bruce Jones did a routine roof inspection and cleared my clogged gutter. One week ago we had our roof done by Peak and today it rained for 15 minutes......I have a huge amount of rain in my house now. It wasn't leaking there before..... Not happy. I'll write a better review if it gets resolved, but honestly, even I could have done better job and Im a 60 year old woman. Don't understand at all, how this could have happened. read more

I contacted Peak to replace my roof and can't say enough about their customer service and workmanship. James was very responsive and easy to work with. From the first time we met until the roof was installed, he was always available and came by the house twice to bring samples for me to review. He was extremely patient with my indecisiveness on what color to choose and made a recommendation that I'm extremely pleased with. Installation went just as smoothly, and I have Aeron to thank for that. He showed up bright and early with a decent size crew and they got to work immediately. The weather was supposed to be clear that day but that didn't last long. My biggest concern was that it would start raining halfway thru the job. Aeron had already arranged for a second crew to assist, and they finished before the rain set in. The house looks awesome, and I've received many compliments from my neighbors. This is a top-notch company, from sales, to backend office and production, so kudos to the owner for running a tight ship. I called peak for an estimate on a new roof. They seemed nice enough, but the process of getting a quote was bizarre. Be prepared for a two hour appointment to go through every option imaginable. And both you and your partner have to be present. They won't do business with you unless you are both physically present. read more
