After receiving my DoorDash order, I was highly disappointed. My items were not as described. The soft shell crab was extremely small, the wings were soggy, and the fried sushi was overcooked. The only item I enjoyed was the dipping sauce. I did not enjoy the wing sauce that was advertised and the items were overpriced. I would not recommend dining here. No item was enjoyed

Went on Valentine's Day. It was crowded as expected. Our reservation was for 8pm and the chef came out around 8:50. He was funny and gave a good show. Our waitress was nice as well. The food was good. My hibachi filet was plentiful and very tender. My vegetable tempura was nicely cooked but took a bit longer to come out. Overall a good meal. There were 2 food related issues however. They were completely out of soda (on tap) and only had $3 bottled options with no refill. The other issue was that they ran out of salad. The waitress said they were chopping some and that she'd bring us some if it was done while we were still there, but I guess it never was. There was no discount for this missing menu item. They also don't do (or didn't tonight?) appetizer shrimp. That was a sad realization. I love that. The restaurant itself was a little older but overall clean.

This was my first time here. I ordered the teriyaki chicken hibachi. Our chef did not really do any tricks or provide an experience for us like some of the other tables had. Most of our food, tasted burnt. I could tell that the food really had the potential to taste great but the charred taste really threw everything off....cleaning the grill once it was burnt would've prevented other food items from tasting burnt. I was very disappointed by this and thought that the chef was more into having personal conversation with us, which I don't think was a good idea, considering how the food turned out. The best part of the meal was the miso soup and the sumo shot. I will definitely visit again if I'm able to be seated with a different chef .

Disappointing Experience at Sumo on Clemson Rd. - Here's Why I Won't Be Back I haven't been to Sumo since it changed ownership, and unfortunately, I won't be returning. Here's why: 1. Severely Understaffed We went on a Tuesday night. Only two tables were seated, yet we still had to wait 25 minutes for a table, for a party of six with no one else waiting. Clearly not enough staff. 2. Cleanliness Issues While waiting to order, we noticed what looked like soy sauce on one of our plates. Our waitress brought a new one, but the dark spots reappeared, it was grease dripping from the vent hood above. They had to move us to another table. 3. Food Quality Concerns Out of Lettuce. At 7:00 PM on a Tuesday, they told us they were out of lettuce. No substitute offered, just "no salad." Still can't believe that one. Soup. Overwhelmingly salty, and I usually enjoy the standard hibachi broth. Entrée. No tableside prep for vegetables--everything was precut and looked machine-cut, lacking the usual flair. Carrots were oddly uniform. Rice tasted like it had been microwaved, and the shrimp were the smallest I've ever seen at a Japanese steakhouse, like rubbery salad shrimp. Portions. While they list the protein weights (e.g., 4oz chicken, 4oz shrimp), the portions felt small and not worth the $28 price tag. Bottom Line I truly want every restaurant to succeed, and I rarely leave bad reviews. But people come to places like this to celebrate life events, and we left feeling let down after spending $200. Everyone in our party said, "never again." Shout-out to our waitress, she was kind and clearly doing her best, but even she seemed frustrated (and baffled by the lack of lettuce!).

Sumos never disappoints! The seaweed salad is amazing fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Definitely one of the best around!

Have had a couple of great family dinners at Sumo when visiting SC. Great food, and the hibachi chefs are very entertaining.

Our waiter Robert, met us with a smile and helped us with all the new options and pairings for the night. Started off with cocktails and the fried zucchini and I could have stopped there. Lightly breaded and garlic aioli on the side I literally almost bite a chunk out my fingers as it was that good. Hubby wanted some flatbread and i wanted my favorite of chicken Alfredo but change to bow tie pasta and add mushrooms and tomatoes! Yummy! Hit it with some cheese and dive in. Nothing I can say bad especially when mom calls and says bring her home some Veal Scallopini and Italian Nachos...yes it's worth going back time and time again.

The hostess and our waitress were both very welcoming, friendly, and attentive throughout the visit. Our appetizers and drinks came out pretty quickly, which definitely started the meal off on a positive note. However, the entrees were a little underwhelming. We ordered the "award-winning" prime rib, but unfortunately it arrived lukewarm. We also tried the shrimp and flounder platter. The shrimp were actually really good, but the flounder lacked seasoning, and the overall plate temperature was lukewarm as well. While the food didn't completely wow us this visit, the service and atmosphere were pleasant enough that I'd still come back to try different menu items in the future. Overall, I'd say it was an okay, decent experience.

As we perused the menu, we waited sometime for our server, whom was also tending to the patrons at the bar along with tables. I'm assuming because it was just before noon they were not yet fully staffed. We proceeded with our orders. I opted for the blackened chicken Alfredo with a caesar salad and a sweet tea. To be honest I was not impressed by the service or the food. While the salad was fresh and the warm honey butter croissants were well received. The blackened chicken Alfredo was bland and required me to add a great deal of black pepper, hot sauce and parmesan cheese to make it palatable. Additionally at the table there was an order of a 1/2 rack of ribs and a 14oz prime rib both with loaded mash. The rib recipient was as equally unimpressed as I was. However, the prime rib seemed to be enjoyed. Unfortunately, this was such an unmemorable dining experience for me that I didn't take any photos of the food. Just A Note: The warm honey butter croissants and the sweet tea were the high points of the meal.

I was the third party member going in blind because while my dinning companions suggested Bluefin, if I'm honest they were not doing a good job selling it, with their mixed reviews. We arrived @ 7pm on a Saturday. Upon arrival we were asked if we had reservations, which we did not. We were seated immediately because oddly enough the place was not busy. As we perused the menu, we noticed the amount of time that had elapsed without being approached or attended to. As we continued to wait, I immediately thought this is a bad sign. Finally we got a waitress and placed our orders. For starters we ordered: -BLUEFIN CRAB DIP: Lemon Breadcrumbs and Toasted Baguette -CRAB CAKES: Sweet Corn, Black Eyed Peas, Tomatoes, Leeks, Whole Grain Mustard Butter -PRINCE EDWARD MUSSELS: Garlic, White Wine, Herbs, Leeks, Tomatoes, Lemon Butter All were good. Even though I ordered it, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the combination of the sweet corn and black eyed peas of the Crab Cake dish. The Mussels were good and the Crab Dip was ok. For an entrée I went with the PAN SEARED BLACK BASS (BARRAMUNDI) with Fried Brussel Sprouts, Shrimp Fried Rice, and Ginger Soy Vinaigrette. This dish was great! Both my sister and I ordered this and we could not stop raving about it. She was little salty that I had some left for a doggy bag , albeit a small amount, and she finished all of hers. Lol Overall the experience started off shaky but the food was good. Just A Note: The service left much to be desired but the dish I had was memorable.
