We went for lunch today. I was surprised when we went in that it was such a nice atmosphere. When I first noticed the restaurant at the end of the stores alongside Publix I thought it was just a carry-out quick order type restaurant serving Ramen Noodles or something. Little did i know it was a fullblown nice sit down restaurant. Very nicely decorated with booths, tables, and a room toward the back for seating. Nice Japanese decorations along the walls and throughout. Our waitress was quick to take our order. We ordered Crab Ragoons for an appetizer. There were six of them served with a small amount of dipping sauce. They were excellent, very light coating on the ragoons and the sauce was very good. My wife ordered a Curry Chicken Ramen bowl and I ordered the special fried rice with shrimp, chicken and pork. The fried rice was good and the shrimp were done perfectly. My wife's Ramen bowl was good and had a nice small amount of heat to it. She would rather have had one of the other chicken bowls as her chicken pieces were perfectly round as if cut out from some pressed chicken or something, rather than sliced chicken that was grilled or fried. They serve the ramen bowls with a spoon ( I should really call it a ladle!) as it was so big you had a hard time eating from it. I guess it's to get the noodles out, because there were a ton of ramen noodles. I was just expecting more of a large spoon rather than the "ladle sized spoon". Call me picky, but the bowl was good however. They've got a good variety of sushi rolls, and quite a few ramen bowls to choose from. I thoroughly enjoyed both the atmosphere and the service in this establishment. This is a great place for a girls night out or even a date. The staff is super friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. I would like to particularly point out the bartender I had, Jack. He makes a mean drink and was super helpful and friendly. He made my experience of sitting at the bar unlike any other. He's turned an ordinary seat at the bar to a night I won't soon forget. His partner Carson worked very hard to keep everything stocked and make sure the patrons were taken care of. Our ROMEO group of 10 were here for lunch today. Immediately seated and the waiter took our orders. Everyone was surprised at how the restaurant was nicely decorated. We ordered drinks and a variety of entrees as it took us a bit of time to decide what we wanted. Menu is expansive with appetizers, specials, sushi, special sushis, ramen dishes, salads and soups. We had a mixture of orders. 1 Ramen Soup order, one Chicken fried rice, one orange chicken, and probably 6 of us ordered sushi rolls. The lunch special has 2 or 3 rolls and includes a bowl of soup or a salad, for $13.95. Good deal. Everyone loved the food. The only thing mentioned by several of us was the the amount of wasabi served with the rolls was sort of small and we felt they should increase the amount a bit. Other than that it was great. The one order of the Ramen Soup was spicy and rated highly! Our average rating on the ROMEO scale of 1-10 was a 9.2, one of the highest we've given a restaurant yet. Tried this place for the first time with takeout last week and decided to sit inside this time. The inside is beautifully decorated with Japanese decor. Very intimate setting in my opinion, but also nice for friend dates. The staff greeted and seated us immediately. Our server was very nice. He checked on us a few times throughout our dining experience. For our meal we ordered sushi: Tsunami Maki, and Titanic Fire Maki, both specialty roles. We also ordered vegetable tempura and a Spicy Chicken Ramen with peach hot sake as a beverage. Everything was just as delicious as when we ordered takeout. Both sushi's were delicious and packed with flavor. They do not skimp on the ingredients. The vegetable tempura was equally enjoyable. It came with 2 thick sliced carrots, 2 sliced zucchini's, 2 Onions, and 2 pieces of broccoli with sauce on the side. My fiancé had the ramen and sake and both were delicious. She did say the ramen could be spicier as it had no kick to it. When we ordered takeout we got the Miso Chicken Ramen, Columbia roll, and Shrimp Fried Rice. Everything was delicious then as well. The Columbia roll was definitely my favorite roll. Overall, we paid about $74 for our dine in meal. We really enjoyed our meal and experience at Sola and will definitely be back to try more sushi. read more

Got seated pretty quickly, but it took a little while before anyone came over. I ended up sitting at the sushi bar since the regular bar was pretty full. The restaurant itself is super cute on the inside though. Once my server showed up, she was super friendly and checked on me often, which I appreciated. The food was solid, I just wish the corn had been a little sweeter and the egg a bit more runny. Overall, a really nice dining experience and I'd definitely come back! read more

Fresh, fresh, fresh. Delicious and flavorful, the ramen was excellent with a balanced spice level. Tasty chicken medallions and ingredients. The corn was unremarkable as one other Yelper had commented but that was the only negative. The sushi rolls were very good and adequately portioned, the ingredients were top notch. Could have used a bit more shrimp in the roll but it was there. Overall, good service, great food and a clean and pleasant atmosphere. We will definitely return in the future! read more

This place just opened up in March of this year. It's quaint, we had good service and pretty good food. We went at lunch time, and ordered 3 rolls, gyozas, and spring rolls (which weren't handmade, I could tell they were frozen), but we enjoyed it all. We'll be back to try more. read more

Sola was clean and the staff was friendly. I ordered the jalapeno tempura, crown sushi and beef fried rice. Everything was really good, no crumbs left behind! I also ordered a lychee martini that was made perfectly ! They brought the rice out first (about 15 minutes before the sushi) which I would have preferred everything to come out together. I didn't know there was a Ramen & sushi place in Elgin until now. We decided to check them out for lunch. I really liked the atmosphere & seating area. The staff were super nice & our waitress Kelly was absolutely so attentive, kind & very nice. We got a Tonkotsu rich garlic ramen & their lunch special (pick and 3 sushi). The food came out very quickly. Didn't wait too long at all. We enjoyed both our meals & absolutely loved their spicy salmon maki (my favorite). Will definitely be back. Great food and service! We had the chicken wings as an appetizer. They were crunchy and light. Dipping sauce was outstanding. My husband and I both had ramen dishes. I had chicken and he had spicy chicken. Both were very good. I also had a Mai tai. Just the right amount of alcohol. Prices were reasonable and the atmosphere was elegant. First time I went was with a group of 6 and we waited 1.5 hours without ever being seated because they don't have a table time limit. Meanwhile parties of 2-3 were seated immediately while we waited... so that sucks. Come in a smaller group than 5. Came another day and got a sashimi. Was precut and previously frozen, which I could tell because biting into the tuna was as hard as a popsicle... and for over 30 dollars I expected better quality considering the other options in Columbia. first the price is high for the portion size. some of the fried sushi rolls only had 6 pcs for $14. the spicy tuna was dry and the beef fried rice was bland and dry.
