Back when I lived in Illinois people would drive over an hour to come visit this coffee shop because they had such a good coffee. When I came, I got a seasonal espresso tonic, and it was super great. Espresso tonics can be hit or miss so I was really excited that this one was really good. They served their drinks in reasonable cups with reusable straws, which was super cute and sustainable! Although I am a little worried about how they're cleaning the straws lol. It's got a decently large interior but when we came on a Saturday morning there weren't that many seats available. There was some seating outside, which was nice. I would definitely come back here and try some of their staple drinks.

Is there a way for something to be both well manicured and grunge? If there is, sump has perfected it. A south jefferson gem with some super solid coffee. A few exterior tables were filled with readers on a sunny sunday morning. The interior was full of friends, family, and the like sharing good conversation. I knew the coffee would be good because not 1 cup had any coffee left! The service was great. Workers were polite, friendly, and efficient. Definitely one of the better coffees i have had in stl as well. I did not realized i lived so close, this may become a problem! Lord help me!

What a delight to have a specialty coffee shop in St. Louis! They roast single origin coffee beans locally. The decor is very cool and almost gallery like. It was also my first time seeing a Poursteady, too (an automatic pour-over coffee machine). Our orders: Colombia Gerson Mora (Natural) Pour Over ($8.75): notes of pink lemonade, pomelo, and papaya. It's super bright and layered. Chocolate Latte (Mocha) ($6.00): smooth, rich, not overly sweet -- really well done!

Found this shop along our road trip route. Super cool building and shop. Was feeling something refreshing without milk. I got the Dark and Darker which is a cold brew mixed with a nitro cold brew. It hit the spot and it was very refreshing. The cafe inside is decorated really cool. A lot of attention to detail. There were some lattes I wanted to try! Next time though! Service was fast!

So so good. I've been trying to make it here for months and finally tried Sump. Great offerings across the board and nice space to enjoy a great drink. Bean offering is super fresh (beans were roasted days before I bought them). Will definitely be back soon

It's always a joy to discover a new coffee spot, especially if it has nice vibes and good coffee. I was initially worried about parking because it's only street parking, but there was plenty of parking on the nearby streets on a weekday morning. Perhaps weekends might be less available. I chose the sumpkin spice latte among their seasonal options, and it was the perfect amount of pumpkin spice. Service was quick and easy! Outside patio was a pleasant place to sit as well.

Hands down the best coffee and best coffee shop in St. Louis. The only thing that could make it better is if they opened a branch in my subdivision out in the county. I love the location. I love the staff. And the coffees roasted by Sump are some of the best I've ever had. I return to this location again and again.

Fruit loop cereal milk Latte. Yes it's real ! Probably the best iced latte drink I ever had

I may have a small bias because Sump is in my home city, but I have also been doing laps around the country and I truly believe they are the best coffee roasters in a 500 mile radius. The only place in the world that had coffee standards that were similar is cafes in Italy.

I love Sump! When comparing all the lattes I have tried in St. Louis (even Chicago and New York), Sump's lattes are some of my favorites. The espresso is fresh, the milk is meticulously frothed, and their flavor combinations are a balance between innovative and classic. The lattes have a wonderfully smooth texture and are never too sweet. My go to latte is the Vanilla Rum Latte ($6). Today, however, I mixed it up and tried a lavender vanilla latte ($6). The lavender added an earthiness that balanced the sweetness of the vanilla syrup perfectly! I mainly stick with lattes at Sump but have also enjoyed their pourovers. I have never had a negative experience with the team working at Sump. They are warm, welcoming, and kind. The wait for your order is standard: 5-10 minutes, depending on how busy it is at that time. In terms of the ambiance, Sump embodies an alternative, hip vibe. Their branding includes skulls, and their interior design incorporates reclaimed wood accents. However, Sump has limited seating, and it is difficult to find seating during the day if you plan on sticking around. I have also studied at Sump a time or two, but it is not my go-to place to do so due to the limited seating. All-in-all, Sump has some of the best coffee in St. Louis. Despite a somewhat crammed interior, Sump is a go-to spot for me to grab a latte!

One of my favorite coffee spots in St. Louis. This bustling coffee spot boasts a vibrant atmosphere with its skull decor and alternative vibe. Its hip! It's always packed! The single origin pour-over coffee delivers a fantastic caffeine fix. Locations in Saint Louis and Nashville and they will ship! Love this spot!

This coffee shop sits at the corner of a city intersection, small front patio with tables and chairs, being a shrub wall. Great spot. Inside the 1900 store front is a decor dripping with attitude. The service is excellent and the product is exceptional. Yes, meet here, sit, and/or read you will enjoy your choice.

Great coffee. Lots of varieties to choose from. Inside smelled awesome! The staff was friendly and informative. Pour over coffee is a new experience for us and we will definitely be coming back for more

Best coffee spot in the area, hands down! Their espresso and craft drinks are exceptional. We loved it so much on our first visit that we had to return for one more caffeine fix before hitting the road. Perfect place to fuel up - definitely worth seeking out if you're serious about good coffee!

The staff is always friendly and helpful, the food comes out quickly, and the shaded patio is a great place to sit and enjoy your meal. The espresso shake was absolutely delicious, but the Lou Melt was the standout of my visit. The bread had the perfect crunch on the outside while staying soft on the inside, and unlike many steak burgers , it wasn't greasy at all. The French Dip was just okay. It could have used a bit more flavor, and I wish there had been more meat on the sandwich. The bread, however, was fresh, airy, and incredibly soft, which helped make it enjoyable. The Caesar salad was another highlight. The kale was massaged just enough to make it tender while still keeping a nice crunch, and every bite left me wanting more. The Greek salad wasn't quite as memorable. The dressing tasted mostly like oil with only a slight hint of vinegar, so it felt like it was missing the bold, tangy flavors I was expecting. I also ordered an iced vanilla latte, which was excellent. It was smooth, not overly sweet, and didn't have the bitter taste that some coffee drinks can have. Overall, Mokabe's offers a warm, inviting atmosphere, consistently friendly service, and a menu with several standout items. I was able to get off drugs and reconnect with my family as the result of eating a burrito. You can imagine my excitement, then, when it was announced that a group I run with was meeting at this Tower Grove South location. I wasn't crazy about getting up early the day after America's 250th birthday, and there was the slight possibility that I'd barf during my run around Tower Grove Park (people might think I was back on drugs), but I was willing to risk it for the, erm, burrito. Actually, it occurred to me that I might try something else, for the sake of citizen food journalism. Then my decision was made for me when I saw that they carry a bagel with lox. I've eaten literally a million bagels with lox, going back to the 1980s, but only either at home or at places that aren't very good, like Einstein Bros. Alas, I was informed that the bagel with lox was currently unavailable, because they were out of lox. Which struck me as odd, given that lox is not served fresh. It's not like they had to go pull it out of the water that morning or have it flown in from Alaska, packed in ice. Was there a run on the lox due to a nearby media-industry convention? Did they accidentally leave it sitting out overnight? I imagine that would smell crazy. I went with the Everything, which may have been the better choice anyway. Named after the famous bagel seasoning, it's essentially a bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel with cream cheese and a tomato. But describing it that way doesn't really do it justice. You have to attempt to wrap your lips around it in order to truly appreciate it. No Diddy. It's the bagel-sandwich equivalent of their legendary burrito, and it might be just as good. The bacon and egg are perfectly cooked, with the egg just slightly underdone and the bacon nice and crisp but still with a little bit of chew. The helping of cream cheese is weirdly generous, to the point where just the cream cheese on a bagel would be a fairly substantial sandwich. The tomato, which was a little bit tart, made for a nice accent. It comes wrapped in one of those diapers they used to use on some of the bigger burgers at Hardee's, to keep it from falling apart the moment you try to bite into it. You'd still eat all the individual elements using your fingers, because you're a savage and because they're that good, but it wouldn't be the same. It's a testament to the thoughtfulness and the ingenuity of the kitchen staff at Upshot that they thought to do that.

I initially ordered bacon and eggs, but unfortunately they were out of bacon.
