The food is always good, drinks always stellar, the staff, insanely kind and cool. I love this place. I will continue to support these folks because they are on the level. Kind and welcoming to all, always.

Stopped in at MokaBe's this morning to grab a coffee since it's been on my coffee list! Conveniently located off S Grand, easy to pop in & out & the parking was free today! Can't beat that. There's plenty of parking on both sides which was nice. Walking in is a clean atmosphere. There's seating inside & outside. I noticed they have dog bowls inside for your furry friends who want to join also treats inside for them too! How sweet. Stop of at the front to order! I got an iced latte this morning & it came out super fast. The only thing I have was my coffee did taste a little burnt. Which happens! I'd come back to try their food!

First time trying this place out. Was finding a different coffee spot for a friend from stl and I to try. She suggested MoKaBe's. This place didn't disappoint. It's got a historic feel to it. The menu is accessible via a QR code. They can bring you water or they have a self serve station upon entrance. The pricing is reasonable and the food was good. They do have vegan options. I had their breakfast sandwich in wheat toast, hard egg with sausage. A side of potatoes. Perfect paring, with their Kelly's kicker asser latte. She had a vegan sandwich with a latte which both of our drinks were under their specialties. There is no private parking. Only street. Even on a Sunday it's busy parking. I had to park across the way near Qdoba. Service wasn't too bad, they bring water if accessible and are just attentive enough to bring out food and check in on you as necessary. I liked the overall experience and I'd come back again. Sundays they are only open till 3 so keep that in mind. We enjoyed our meals and lattes. Thanks MoKaBe's.

Came for food this time and my burger was tasty. Still an overly grungy place. Not my cup of tea.

I used to love coming to MoKabe's all the time to hang out and study and get work done. This was years ago, as far back as over a decade ago. Since then, I've moved to several cities. But when I came back to visit St. Louis this week, I knew I had to come check this place out again! A lot of my favorite places in other areas closed down after the pandemic, so I was so happy to see MoKabe's is still here and doing great! I always enjoyed the cozy, welcoming vibe of this place, especially the upstairs area! Some things have changed since a few years ago, like the hours are more brunch-oriented (they close at 3pm now instead of staying open late), there is now a 45-minute dine-in time limit, and they have a really super convenient order-at-your-table with a QR code option. I tried the QR code option out with my toddler and it made ordering soooo much easier since I didn't have to wait in line with my little guy who would've wanted to roam everywhere lol! Some things are the same, such as the low-key, welcoming vibe and the unique feel of the upstairs area. I love how the upstairs portion of the coffeehouse is homey and dark (in a comforting way) with patches of natural light coming from the small windows facing Tower Grove Park. Everyone who worked there that we were in contact with was seriously so kind and accommodating and went above and beyond to make our time there awesome. My toddler and I had a great time! I'm so happy I got to share one of my old time favorites with my little one! As far as the food we ordered, we got the biscuits and gravy with eggs and cheese and potatoes. The biscuits and gravy was amazing, with fluffy light buttery biscuits that melt in your mouth along with the full-flavored and creamy sausage gravy. Omg so good, lol! The eggs and cheese were cooked perfectly and the potatoes were mostly good, although some pieces were less cooked than others. I also got a hot chai latte with oat milk which was super good. It's on the spicy and sweet side, so keep that in mind if you're considering purchasing it! It was fun to see how an old favorite of mine has evolved over time but still holds onto the essence that makes it unique and that people have always appreciated about it!

What drew me to this coffee house was the wide variety of morning drinks it had to offer. From Americanos to lattes, they had traditional and new flavors to try. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was comfortable and offered seating inside and outdoors. It's located off a busy intersection but nonetheless a great location to catch up with a friend or get some work done. I enjoyed the drinks the most and MO's Monkey was delicious. I couldn't leave without taking one to go!

I recently visited MoKaBe's for Sunday breakfast with some friends. We were lucky enough to get outdoor seating on the cozy patio. I ordered their scrumptious biscuits and gravy - the vegetarian version! I loved that they had meat substitute options. The biscuits were warm and flaky while the gravy was flavorful. I got a half-order and it was very filling. The ordering and payment was all done via QR code which I really like because it's so much less pressure and rush to order. Once the order is done, food is brought out to your table. Service was friendly and inviting which added to the overall atmosphere. I definitely recommend the outdoor seating as the inside is a bit plain and awkwardly laid out. At first, we were sat at a table under the stairwell right next to the restroom which seemed like odd placement for a table in the first place but luckily one outside opened up and they were happy to move us. I also ordered a chai tea. It tasted exactly like Oregon Chai, so I'm assuming that's what it was. I was a little disappointed that they didn't offer house-made chai because they would probably make a great one if they did.

Met with a group of friends to discuss a book we just read. This is my first time at this establishment. Ordered the Portobello Sandwich which comes with chips and made it vegan. It didn't occur to me that meant no substitution for cheese (they just left it off). The sandwich was tasty and the bun was excellent. But, the chips were just cheap wavy potato chips out of a bag. I saw on the menu I could have ordered "oven fries" for an up charge. The seating area is roomy with a loft area. It just seemed unkept. Kitchen freezer in the dining area that kitchen help kept going to. This place is okay. I just feel there are many vegan options on South Grand and they could up their game to stay in competition and get my business.

Great food, prompt service. You order on your phone and food/drinks are delivered. We were seated right away on a Sunday morning. Parking is on the street only and it is a little busy near Tower Grove park! There appears to be a large upstairs seating area. A lot of tables set up for larger groups. Old school diner vibe.

I remember visiting St. Louis back in the day during college and Mokabe's is where we'd go to grab coffee while browsing in Tower Park. I recently moved to the St. Louis area and this summer I've been in a couple times a month to meet a friend for BLTs on the patio (the bacon here is BOMB and you need to get a BLT on that toasted Italian bread with extra bacon!). I realized that I have never actually sat inside so I stopped in on a recent Saturday morning before 9am. I had some work to do so I chose a small booth upstairs. I love the upstairs, so cozy and dark with twinkle lights the way I like things at home too. So I can't recall if Mokabe's had this before the pandemic, but you can skip the counter, go to your table and order from your table by scanning a QR code at your table. I love this because it's quick and easy, you can tip and from an F&B management POV it saves time on labor and makes orders come quicker for a really efficient process. I literally heard my order printing out a moment after I pressed the PAY button. It was very comfortable working there and I ordered my usual Crystal Lite iced latte (sugar free: white chocolate, caramel, skim milk). I appreciate that they have some variety when it comes to sugar free flavors. It was breakfast time so I ordered the baked diced potatoes and a side of sausage gravy. I wanted something homey and hearty for the first cool Saturday morning in October. Actually, I ordered the baked french fries by mistake and a server came up to me to clarify whether I wanted the baked fries or the baked potatoes which I appreciated, although thinking of poutine, it probably would have been good! So this combo of potatoes and hearty sausage gravy was freaking awesome. Let's face it, most sausage gravy comes from a can. I'm not sure if this is but it sure doesn't taste like it. It was so hot, thick and hearty with a lot of sausage bits. It was amazing on the baked diced potatoes, which are obviously diced in house. This combo was hearty, warm and peppery and hit the spot. So the tables inside have a 45 minute limit, indicated by the little signs. I was on a roll typing a process manual for work but kept watch on how busy it got and if the tables were filled (it was a Saturday) and I checked in with the staff periodically who were super nice and said they'd have no problem kicking me out if they see the need :) I also ordered another drink (amazing Moroccan mint iced tea) and convinced a friend to meet me there after a couple of hours who ordered lunch. I was there for over five hours in total. I work from home when I'm not traveling and I prefer to support a local spot rather than chains so I loved being able to work from here. I have to say all the great reviews are accurate and this is really a great friendly neighborhood diner. I'm going to dine in more often. I heard them saying that staffing is hard so they are keeping their hours from 8am-3pm for now, but I do remember back in the day they were open at night. The only thing I would say that could make the dine-in experience more elevated is if they used reusable cups and mugs vs the disposable cups, but they do recycle the cups so that is good.

This is one of the coffee shops that's close to Tower Grove Park. I've only been here once, and I ordered a delicious coffee. Their gooey butter cake was divine! The vibe is chill, and it's like a community staple around the area. I highly recommend this coffee shop! Worth your visit :)

    Great view of the park.

Too politically charged. 45 minute dine in time limit! It could use a good deep cleaning inside. Food was less than desired.

I haven't been to this place since it was the former coffee shop, so I was excited to see what/if any changes Upshot would make. I came in mid-afternoon and it was packed! There's a lot to look at, so brace yourself! When you first walk in, you can't help but notice how spacious it is, as well as the ample seating. My attention was immediately drawn to the bike merch on the left and then drifted to the front where the good stuff was. I was immediately greeted by the person behind the counter and she explained the treats in the display case were seasonal and rotating. They had quite an assortment from quiches, waffles, cookies, bread, and scones! I took a glance at the menu (they offer breakfast, lunch, and a plethora of coffees, teas, and lattes. While I'm not a coffee drinker, I do enjoy tea from time to time, especially whilst under the weather. Since it's hot out, I opted for something light and went with the Mango Magic. She asked if I wanted it hot or cold and I said, "cold". While it was an extremely hard decision, I opted not to get any sweets and stick with the drinks only. While my drink was being made, I had a chance to walk around and I really liked what I saw. It's a chill vibe, and not stuffy how'd you expect most coffee shops to be. I got my drink to go and was on my way. The first sip wasn't as sweet as I had hoped but was still refreshing, nonetheless. Overall, I see this place being here for a long time, and I know I'll def. visit when I'm in the area!
