I visited the "Cheltenham" location a few weeks ago, so you could say I'm a grizzled veteran as far as Comet Coffee patrons are concerned. I've seen it all at this point: the limited, not particularly comfortable seating; the highway robbery pricing; the disturbingly tasty croissants. As was the case with my previous visit, I was there with a local running group, albeit not the same group. We met there, went for a nice run and then immediately undermined any progress we may have made with sugary drinks and baked goods, as one does. We met at a little before 8 AM on a Sunday. The store hadn't opened yet. Already, there were people lined up as if they were neurodivergent middle-aged men waiting to buy Pokemon cards at a Target so they could resell them on the Internet, as a career. I'd suggest that maybe people are buying the baked goods here and attempting to resell them, but I don't know that you could charge more than they already charge and not risk being assaulted, as a matter of principle. It's a testament to the sheer quality of these items that I purchased another one, having yet to fully recover from the one I purchased a few weeks ago. As a result, I'm gonna have to have a talk with my accountant, and trust me, it's not going to be comfortable. When I was at the one across the street from Forest Park, I had my eye on a pistachio croissant, and then the lady in line ahead of me ordered the last one that they had. There was almost an incident. I was fully prepared to pull an Ike Turner, if I had to. Fortunately, they still had at least one left when it was my turn to order. To think, I might have committed an assault for something more mid than I'd imagined it being, like a guy with an ugly wife who's nevertheless weirdly possessive. Last time, I ended up just going with the plain croissant, and I think I kinda prefer it. With the sweet, ostensibly pistachio-based topping, it's more along the lines of a donut. You don't taste the croissant as much, nor did the topping strike me as being particularly pistachio-esque. It was still delicious, and for $7, it had better been. I was wearing a quarter-zip, so I figured I might order an iced matcha latte with honey and whole milk. It's all part of my becoming a more respectable, productive member of society. As was the case with the croissant, it was really good for what it was. It mostly tasted like a slightly sweet glass of milk, with only the faintest hint of green tea--which I realize is just how these things taste. No Diddy. The thing is, I loave, lurve, luff milk. I'm like those guys in A Clockwork Orange. I like nothing more than to have a nice cold glass of milk and then go kick over a wastebasket. It's probably for the best that I had this drink after my run. read more

My family and I stopped in as I live in the area. They'd been open a few months or longer now and I'd been meaning to give it a try. We walked in on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. The staff was friendly and helped us choose a coffee that each of us could enjoy. My parents are coffee drinkers but they're not accustomed to this more upscale, specialty experience. I enjoyed my espresso, and my dad didn't hate his drink though he admitted he wouldn't reorder it. My mom had asked for a hot coffee and was served an iced. She also couldn't seem to make it sweet enough for her taste. I think it's a spot that's not for everyone, but that's okay. I will be back as I enjoy trying new brews. The pricing is a little steep for me (pun intended) so I won't be often. read more

I'm so happy that Comet has a second location in Tower Grove now. We stopped by for some warm drinks after a chilly visit to MOBOT. We got two kids hot chocolates which they actually melt the chocolate so it takes a little while but it's so worth it. I got the fruity pebbles latte which was the seasonal special. I also grabbed a chocolate croissant for breakfast the next day because their croissants are EVERYTHING! read more

Come coffee is the best coffee shop in Saint Louis. The coffee is complex and rich, and other drinks like the matcha are good as well. With that being said, the true reason I come here is the pastries. The croissants are unimaginably flaky and buttery, and the cookies are INSANE! Staff is helpful and knows what they are talking about. When comet was only on the side of the highway, the amount of people that still make their way to the odd location show how truly wonderful comet is. This new Shaw location is so adorable and I could spend hours there, the patio is so cute. Everyone in STL go here and GET A CROISSANT! read more

I love Comet! Their coffee is wonderful quality and tastes divine. They have a great assortment of baked items (their croissants look insane). The space itself is tucked away in an office building and the entrance on the back end is easy to miss. You can access thru the lobby near the elevators. The space itself is pretty small, so if you snag a spot to sit and work you're lucky! I really like it here. read more

The location for this cafe is perfect! In a walkable area. The staff were friendly and it wasn't too loud inside despite it being pretty busy. They have a nice selection of drinks and the pastries looked amazing. I got the matcha with brown sugar syrup. Taste was lovely, I wish it was just a tad bit warmer. Finally was able to stop into the new Comet location. I work by the OG location and it's always such a special treat. The new space is so spacious with so many spaces to sit - inside and out. Ordered a chai tea latte, cold brew, and a bear claw. Service was great and quick. Love love love this gem. read more

Comet just opened a new location near the Botanical Garden and World's Fair Donuts. It's easy to get to from the highway and offers convenient street parking. The space is spacious, with two indoor seating areas and a large outdoor patio. Drinks and pastries are just as consistent as the main Oakland location, with the added bonus of extended hours and open until 7 p.m.! One of the few coffee shops in the area where you can linger later in the day. read more

This is not a "sit and chill" sort of coffeehouse. Come to think of it, the original Comet is just as bustling, busy and noisy, so I guess my expectations were off. At max, there's 12 tables in here; when I arrived at 830a, I had to scoot over signs they had on a high table/ countertop to be able to have a place to drink my coffee and pastry. I ended up standing up and drinking most of my latte before I was able to grab a table immediately from two people who were leaving 30 minutes later. Comet's coffee and pastries are always top notch, I loved the pecan eggnog chai latte w exception of it being very sweet - probably a result of the fact the sugar level in the components was meant for it be consumed alone. When I asked the barista for a pour of almond milk, they obliged. read more

staff's not the nicest, made me feel really unwanted and bad about myself. one of the coffee makers looked at me - laughed, shook his head and made another attendant take my order. was this really necessary? i'm nothing but kind and bring good energy. the coffee tasted like sh*t and wasn't what i ordered - had my order been repeated back to me this simply wouldn't have happened. terrible experience. i'm writing this a day later because i'm still unsure of why they would go out of their way to be so obvious and shamelessly rude. won't be coming back. read more
