They would periodically call me up with basic customer satisfaction follow up calls and would check to see if i needed any other work done. I would hesitate because my house is a rental property but it is also my investment into the future knowing that any home improvement would increase the value of my house. I had a 20 year roof on my house and it had been thirty years so i decided to get my roof replaced. When they came to give an estimate i realized i should have them paint the house and do the gutters knowing that it would be cheaper to get it all done at once instead of separately . They just finished, and all i can say is wow. The new roof has made the house sooo much cooler; the tenants love it. Their SDGE bill was cut by 40% just by not having to use the AC that much. The paint job was beautiful and the rain gutters with the leaf filters are perfect. Make sure to ask for Edgar and Pete to as managers for the projects. We did have a rain delay and they kept me up to date with rescheduling Walk through went great. They left the house clean and took all tarping and trash away. We just completed a project for a patio cover with fans to be installed. The whole experience from beginning to rapid end was fantastic! Everyone was very professional and polite and the project completed earlier than expected. The install took about a day and a half and the result is precisely what we requested. The installers did a great job of retrofitting 4 sliders and 11 windows on my home. The project was done in 2 phases. With phase 2 being the larger of the two. Our windows were 58+ years old, it was about time to replace and upgrade. Windows and sliders look great, work great. Sun Coast easy to work with from start to finish!! read more

We were contacted by Sun Coast with an offer for a free consultation regarding replacing our worn out backyard artificial turf (about 500sq). The rep, Mia, was nice enough but was also a manipulator. Her first estimate was in the range of $19,000 but with discounts she got it down to $12,000. We said "no" so she then proceeded to go outside and call her "boss" and came back with an estimate of $9000 if we would sign up right now. We refused. I checked reviews on YELP and one poster said she had met with several companies and the range was from $4000 to $7000 for a bit more square footage. We contacted the company she recommended and the estimate was $3500 for the same job. Word of warning: Sun Coast plays a game by first quoting a very high estimate than lowering it with discounts and, if necessary, contacting the "boss". 1/2 the original estimate might look like a good deal but fortunately we were not biting. read more

This review is only based on my impressions after initial interactions with this company to receive a quote for a house paint job, but we mutually agreed not to proceed. This company's representative (but not wearing any uniform or even logo) approached one of the households and asked if we are interesting to repaint our house (we were interested, indeed, but only in the paint job, not any remodeling). That guy then asked both household members present for a quote the following day (explaining it is their policy) and also asked if we were retired (that was odd) during that brief initial interaction. When asked, he said they do jobs in the neighborhood but avoided being more specific. On the following day a different guy showed up in the promised time and shared his business card upfront (a director of sales) - good sign. I then asked him a few specific questions. What I didn't like about the answers is that they position themselves as a high-end remodeling company, and it quickly became apparent that their quote would be much more than simply a paint job because they will do a thorough prep which will justify a life-time warranty for some special paint (we were not interested), and that would make use a commonly used quality latex paints probably not worth their cost. A quote was not given, but I figured it would be likely in the $20-30K for the paint job (and we have a house of a smaller model). That director also said that several of them are giving the quotes to homeowners in our HOA but are not aware if any job was already started or completed (yes, very odd, and simply hard to believe). This meeting lasted less than 15 min (instead of lasting for an hour or even longer during a new visit, as stated in some reviews) and was mutually ended to satisfaction of both because the was not a good fit. However, I see a problem of not establishing this by their first rep during initial interaction. It is likely a tactic to try to convince new customers to commit to an expensive project. By the way their explanation of why they need to know if we are retired did not make sense. He said that such customer may possibly need help of a relative... In conclusion, my experience matched many of the negative reviews. They may very well do a quality work with paint job lasting longer than average, but it is important that they listened to what the customer needs from the very beginning. In addition, it was probably not a good idea to plan on getting a quote when they approach you, instead you seeking a contractor. read more

3 years ago I hired synapses zero scape my front lawn with DGE. I was assured it would be little to no maintenance and that the DGE would be rock solid. That was not the case. Initially it looked good, but the DGE was never solid, it would constantly get weeds and wash out of my front lawn. Sun coast tried to make it right by giving us gutters but they glide fix the issue. They redid the walls of our house and ripped up weed barriers and didn't fix them, the overall solution for fixing our front lawn was to spend an additional 15,000 on top of the 12000 already spent. I canceled that plan, and was told that the reason for all the weeds is the hill in front of our house, if that's the case why would these so called experts not advise against going forward with the DGE. I'll never use sun-coast again and will never recommend them for anything. read more

I'm doing this review in hopes of saving someone from this company. We simply wanted an estimate for a new roof. They insisted that both my husband and I be present for their sales pitch. I'm sure it's a sales tactic to have us both present but it was a waste of time. We recently had a new roof installed by another company at another house we own and it was one fifth of the price they quoted us. Like other 1 star reviews I had a bad experience with Sun Coast. An unsolicited knock on my door by Sun Coast began the ordeal. I did have a project I was getting quotes for and I was told they would provide a free quote. So another quote could not hurt. Couldn't do at that time so was told to contact the office to arrange a time. Spoke with a lady and was told both homeowners had to sit in. I mentioned my wife is not a homeowner and she changed tack and said their company policy was that both husband and wife had to sit through their quote. I reminded her they knocked on my door UNSOLICITED and asked for my business. I told her that I, and only I, make the decisions and Sun Coast was not going to tell me I had to follow their terms. When I agreed to get an estimate I told the guy that I didn't want any salesman games. I've spent my entire life working for construction related companies. Just show me what you've got and give me a price. They wanted to block out like 2 hours for the estimate. I knew I was in trouble and after reading reviews I almost canceled. But I let them come and sure enough the salesman talked about everything except the work I wanted done. I don't need a new roof, I don't need windows, etc. When we finally did talk about the work I needed (turf, retaining wall, pavers) he basically said he wasn't interested in bidding that. The job started and finished on time and much faster than any of my neighbors' roof projects. There were no surprise charges. They even did a great job removing and reinstalling my PV Solar system. 1. Door-to-door sales guy (Connor) ignored our prominent NO SOLICITING sign. 2. Opened by saying that he is with our HOA. (LOL! :D) I asked him which HOA. He said, "the HOA in this area." I asked what's the name of the HOA. He responded he is with a company in the area doing work in the neighborhood (finally, a truth... maybe.) 3. Just got off a call with a Sun Coast Remodelers salesperson offering a "sale" on exterior coatings to put over stucco, an offer made because "they were doing work in my neighborhood". I kept them talking while I looked them up on Yelp. When I asked about their poor ratings, they hung up without saying goodbye. Very much like a typical telemarketer than a representative for a professional remodeling company. This salesforce is the "public face" Sun Coast Remodelers wants us to see. I just got my house painted by Suncoast. They did the Texacote paint which is supposed to last the lifetime of your house. I have to say the painters were excellent and repairs were done very well. The lack of communication among the staff was horrible and turned it into a very stressful project. There was so much miscommunication which turned a small job into and extra week longer . I constantly had to ask questions. I felt like I was the project manager at times. I never knew who the right person was to address my concerns to. I would not use them again. read more

Scam of a business! We got the typical "we're working in your neighborhood tomorrow if you want to receive a paint quote" we are wanting to repaint the exterior of our house so we agreed to have someone come out to quote. A salesman came into our house and wasted 2 hours of our time (7pm-9pm and we have small children who have a bedtime of 8pm) to give us a sales pitch followed by an outrageous quote to have our house painted. Our house is a little over 1400sq ft single story with little to no repairs needed and they wanted 29k for a freaking paint job with their specialized product. Obviously we're not going through with them. I decided to look up their company on yelp and clearly saw I was not the only person whose time was wasted or received a ridiculous sales pitch from them. After a painful unnecessary and obnoxious 2 hour sales presentation, including showing you photos and videos of "satisfied customers" Sun Coast Remodelers quoted me $78K for a partial landscaping job. That's right, 79 THOUSAND DOLLARS, for what he called "Phase One!!" This was for some basic turf, a few shrubs, and replace a couple of sprinkler nozzles for the drip line. NONE of the hardscape work I wanted done was included -- That would come in Phase 2 , or Phase 3. I'm so annoyed how much of my valuable time was wasted -- what a horrible joke. Mia in the Sales Department got on the roof for initial inspection, informed me of my options with regard to my solar panels, and turned out to be a pleasure to deal with throughout the project. She continued with follow up visits during duration of the project, and texted me after project completion ensuring customer satisfaction. Edgar was the foreman who contacted me promptly, performed on site evaluation, and was readily available throughout the multiple stages of the project requirements. He set up solar panel removal and reinstallation with Jake, who improved my solar system integrity with upgraded mount railing, and he optimized solar system efficiency by improving panel layout resulting in increased sun exposure. Edgar was one of the last men on site performing final touch up work and I definitely appreciate his experienced knowledge, good nature, and sincerity to ensure project success. read more

I walked into your office today because I wanted a competitive kitchen remodel quote. I asked your representative if you remodeled kitchens and he said "no". I walked out and turned back around, to ask what type of remodeling you do because I have other projects. He responded; "do you own a house?" I had to pause and wonder if this was a test of my personality. What kind of question is that? I was in business attire, but even if I wasn't, what kind of question is that for you to ask a potential customer? If the question was strategic, meaning house versus condo or something like that, at least explain yourself because that was an insulting question. I still asked for a business card after responding to his question and he gave me a card bearing the name of a marketing manager...really!?!? Customer service is not your strength. We want our house painted and possible patio cover wood repair and paint too. And exactly as others stated, Mia came to estimate and evaluate the job but spent most of 2.5 hrs. selling us on an all new aluminum patio cover. She had container samples of material insisting on showing this "quality" to be incorporated. When asked about house paint she said a return visit the next Friday was needed. On the quote she wrote Friday, circled. The quote was written on notebook paper. There were references to discounts with only verbal descriptions forgotten the next day. The following Friday she didn't show on time. Well after the set time I call their office leaving a message and soon got a return call from Ramon. He says she's at another client home and will come to our house afterwards. And he said our appointment was supposed to be the following Friday. I say we will be waiting. Mia arrives and finishes her measurements. She begins to prepare me or probe for my expectations of the cost. She points to our neighbors house and asks me how much they paid for the job. "I have no idea." She suggests $8,000.. Mai says they don't use regular latex paint at all. Then displays of various coatings are pulled from her stock of container samples. Then she says to expect much more than the neighbors home- $35,000 or more. She says she has more work and calculations pending before she can submit a quote. Blows my mind, I ask for a quote on company forms with workman's compensation and other standard information normally available. And I specifically said nothing on notebook paper. I wanted the document(s) emailed to me. Mind bower: She says "we don't do that." But I absolutely insisted and she agreed saying "okay, just for me." Yeah you guessed, I've heard nothing back in 3 weeks. I left voice mail at their office number. I know Ramon has heard it. I wrote email and sent it to contact info on their website. No reply. After all that, I was willing to look at materials and cost to seriously utilize this company. Not now or ever. Just let your mind wander. Why no company standards for customer quotes? I called to get a quote. I talked to Ramon and he said that he'll have someone come out to take a look at the roof. Usually, I don't want to deal with contractors, so I have my partner get it. Sun Coast was referred to us to install a new roof on our home - estimate and sales pitch were brutal, very long and overwhelming. Price for roof and insulation was steeper than another quote we received, but since this GC was referred to us we went with Sun Coast. Besides a scheduling conflict at the beginning, the roof install was clean and professional, we were satisfied. We also purchased blown-in insulation to be done at the same time as our roof. Blown-in was not preferred, but sold to us as a "better product" - the install was completed by a family, dad and kids who could not speak English - the product was blown in from the outside of the house and not evenly coated throughout our attic space, we felt the attic insulation install could have been more professional and complete, they did a sloppy job for a top price. Would not recommend this company for your attic insulation. Since we had a good roofing experience, we brought Sun Coast back out to quote us on exterior improvements. We originally wanted a price for plaster repair on the house, new plaster on our detached garage, removal of old siding at the front of the house with new plaster where siding is, and paint. Pretty basic upgrades. Again, the sales exercise was BRUTAL!!! We should have said no so many times! 3 hours later and a huge price tag, we were so overwhelmed and told we had to decide that day or we wouldn't get a discount, we reluctantly agreed and signed a contract. BIG MISTAKE!!!! We originally wanted a hand full of improvements, but agreed to new windows (didn't need them or to spend the money), some carpentry work to repair a couple swing door openings, alternate siding, plaster work, and cool wall coating - all we now know is this companies entire game! The install of our improvements took 2 months, the crews at our house could not communicate with us and were not qualified to do the work we paid for. Communication with Sun Coast is very complicated, and after conversations I feel dirty and lied to and taken advantage of. This company is VERY expensive and they provide cheap labor and cut every corner so they can make a buck. They do not listen to customers unless you live in an up-scale neighborhood, they judge their customers and take advantage of anyone they can. We are already experiencing issues with our exterior improvements and now I have to hope Sun Coast will honor their warranty and be the good company they claim to be. I kick myself for not reading reviews before!!! I do not recommend Sun Coast to anyone who is honest and hard working that wants a contractor they can trust to relay their expertise and recommendations - they did not provide quality workmanship we trusted, nor did they listen to any of our concerns. We regret 100% signing any completion certificate and have learned a very hard lesson with our first major home remodel. Buyer beware! read more

I had a door to door sales man come to my house yesterday to inform me I needed my house to be painted. Regardless of how rude, I do. They said they could come today for a quote. Explained upfront I am only looking for a quote and I will not be making a purchase or signing a contract right away. He assured me that would be fine. He did tell me my husband had to be home, I didn't think much of it. The person came today and is at my house for at least a half hour. I tell them upfront again that I will not be signing anything today, I'm just looking for a quote. They finished, and since my husband was not home refused to give me the quote. They won't give me a quote unless my husband is home even though I am the current breadwinner, the sole person on the title, and make all the decisions about the home while my husband works 60-80 hours a week. I've had the same experience as quite a few other reviews on here and on Yelp. Got a solicitation call on New Years Day when I'm registered on a do not call list asking about my roof and if I would let them provide me with a bid for roof work. First off, give your employees a day off for New Years!! Secondly, no need to lie and say you're working on my neighbors house when our neighborhood is pretty close and know it's a lame story. I work in a similar industry, replaced my roof, and know how this type of business operates. When I asked where they got my information, I was told the company who sells it to them. It's purchased from shady sources so they can call as many homeowners as possible. No reputable company around here will be calling you on a national holiday with the same shady story. Do your research and you'll find a company worth hiring that has morals. read more

I had a roof installed in 2016 a quality wasn't great but the city signed off on it and I didn't know any better. I had a leak and now the roofing company came back and repaired it but I have damages on the inside of my home and I've been trying for months to call Suncoast because the roofing contractor said that that's not his responsibility. It is Suncoast and they won't return my calls, so I am giving them one last chance and then I am going to file a complaint and start a lawsuit. Do whatever I have to do because this is not right to do to a customer and honestly I don't even remember if it was a door to door salesman or where we got the information from but as a company they should be taken care of their customers and I don't think they are read more
