I recently had my entire tile roof replaced by GBC, and overall, I'm very pleased with both the quality of the work and the customer service I received. That said, I would suggest that future customers stay involved and ask questions as the work progresses. The only area that fell short for me was the finishing details. For example, the roof flashing was painted a terracotta color instead of matching my house color as it was before. I actually had the correct paint on hand and would have gladly provided it if asked. I ended up repainting some of the flashing myself that I could reach and will need to hire a painter to finish the rest. There were also a few unexpected design changes, such as new scuppers that now drain directly onto my porch. These weren't part of the original setup and look a bit out of place. I wish I had been consulted about that decision ahead of time so we could have discussed other options. Despite those issues, I'm happy with the overall result and would consider using GBC again in the future--with the benefit of experience to ask more questions along the way. read more

I used this company to replace my clay tile roof with a more updated concrete flat tile roof. I will include my final bill, pictures and video or still shots in the event videos will not load. I'm disappointed in the result, but just to be fair, after you view the pictures you can come to your own conclusion. And yes, Ive tried calling them, and they will not return my call, so I'm taking my concerns to yelp. This lack of calling back seems to be a trend, though, as you can see from other reviews. 1. My home has solar panels, and I expressed a concern to the supervisor that I saw the worker walking ON the solar panels. He said, "He has experience installing solar panels and knows how to walk on them." You're not supposed to walk on solar panels. This could be a very expensive repair down the line. 2. The mud used in the corners/points of the roof are mismatched - some are red and some are white and not painted over (they were forgotten). That's a lack of attention to detail. When I expressed this concern, the supervisor said that I can finish it off with some spray paint. If I've paid tens of thousands of dollars for a new roof, at no point should I be expected to climb onto my roof to finish up the parts they forgot. That instruction being given to me is insane. There were a couple of other minor things that they addressed, so I won't get too into weeds on that. Ultimately, they were great in the beginning until they got the final check in their hands. I shouldn't be told to head up to my roof to fix work they didn't do. I shouldn't be dismissed when I express concern over the lack of care with the solar panels. I'm hopeful there's no damage to those, but only time will tell. That has potential to be a very expensive repair. I went with GBC because they matched their competitors' quote, offered a military discount, and they used Malarkey underlayment, which is high quality vs. traditional felt. Turns out, the Malarkey I was sold on ended up being pure "malarky" for me. read more

GBC did a great job on my over 100 year old house. I wanted to use a company that used Tex-Cote cause it was a life time warranty on the paint job and wouldn't fade. Both ever important here in San Diego. I was nervous when picking a painter, but Aaron was great! He provided me with an amazing quote and insured me that his team would take care of me. I couldn't believe that they were working in the roof area which did not have a problem and they were not aware since the beginning that the problem was from the chimney Bottom line we have to pay for the replacing of a roof area that was not the problem and now we have to swallow an other big chunk of money to replace the chimney I believe Jason does not have enough experience on this kind of projects. Didn't want a flip job, but that's basically what I got. Why even ask what windows I want if they're just going to stick me with 20yo rain glass that I specifically didn't want. Same with the bulky flip job windows that I absolutely didn't want, which I had to get to suit their schedule. Wasn't cheap work either. They pitch the windows are all custom made, but they're coming from a factory that makes custom windows. It's an upcharge for nothing. The factory can make any size window. It's not window science. Anyways I'm up at 4am to let my dogs out since they wanted some crazy amount to add a dog door that's a $100 part. Get familiar with the CR Laurence catalog and find someone that will get you what you want. read more

Last year we started two projects with GBC. We had a roof leak in our granny flat, and of course it was during the rainy season! GBC tarped our roof so we would not have any additional damage while we were waiting to start the re-roofing. We also had solar they had to take off and reinstall. Once the roof was completed, we started on repairing and Tex-Cote CoolWall strip and paint. Our eves were rotted and they had to replace all that too. The work took a bit of time because we have the area of two large homes. They did a great job. They inspected with me a number of times to make sure I was happy with the their progress. Their constant refrain was, are you happy? It was, whatever you need to complete the job to your satisfaction. They were very professional and treated my property with respect! read more

We are so happy we chose GBC Remodeling to give us our new roof. They are serious roofers, very hard workers, know what they're doing and did a fantastic job. They took off the tiles, redid the underlayment, replaced damaged wood and replaced the tiles.  Our roof was 46 years old with serious termite damage, which was discovered when the tiles were off.  My husband compared various companies but chose them and we are so happy.  The workers worked very hard and even chose to work 6 days a week to get the job done: job was done in 9 working days. They knew what they were doing and weren't just workers picked up and told what to do: they knew roofing. There was a lot of wood to replace.  Workers were VERY polite and respectful, did their job and didn't infringe on us at all (besides loud noise that is part of the job). They left our house completely spotless and clean at the end of each work day. One of them would clean with a leaf blower and pick things up. GBC painted our house 5 years ago with Tex-Cote painting. The painting has held up well but the caulking has not. They've been out each year to do touch ups for us and up until this past year had been responsive. I contacted them in April of 2024 for touch ups and still no one has been out. They've told me that they don't have anyone that does service work, but that shouldn't be my issue. Touching up caulking and doing some painting over it is not difficult work. Just about anyone could do that. Here it is January of 2025 and still no one has been out and I'm not getting any response from them. read more

They dug 8 to 12 inches deep around my foundation, resurfaced my entire stucco, and redid it with a thermacoating type stucco. The home was built in 1953. You can not tell nor see any defects in the many patches it had done over the years. They replaced all windows, making the home look brand new. They were polite, clean, prompt, and quick to correct anything I saw as a flaw. Highly recommend. Must be patient with material deliveries as that's not in their control. GBC did a great job painting my home. Overall the experience was professional and I have no complaints with the final product. Project took a little longer than expected but that was because of an exceptionally rainy Spring in 2023 but they were on the job when the weather permitted. After receiving several bids from competitive remodeling companies, I chose GBC to do the projects on a 1955 home. From the first contact with the office manager to the last meeting with Aaron, the owner, our experience was expedient, professional and friendly. The exterior of the house was thoroughly powerwashed, stucco refurbished and painted with Cool Wall (highly recommend). Fascia was either fixed or replaced and new windows were installed. On Friday this week the owner of the company Aaron came by to inspect our roof. he took the time to explain to us what was actually happening with our roof and why we were getting a massive leak during the storm. We recently had our home's exterior stucco and wood trim repainted by GBC Remodeling. We decided to use GBC for two reasons. One was that several years earlier, they were the only company willing to come out on Christmas Eve to patch an emergent roof leak. Secondly the CoolWall Tex Coat paint system they use eliminates appearance of cracks in the stucco due to its elastic property and simultaneously reduces heat retention and mold growth due to its breathability. The job was really large because it included the exterior of two story 4750 square feet house (including two garage doors and exterior doors), the retaining walls in the front, side, and back yard, and the exterior of the guest house in the back. The job did take longer than expected however GBC crew was very receptive to our requests and concerns and completed the project until we were satisfied. Our house now looks beautiful like it did when we moved in 20 years ago. The quality of their work far exceeded our expectation. Couple months ago I stared a project with GBC Remodeling. The process was great. I wanted to stucco over the wood facade on the front of my house and have all stucco on the remaining sides patched and painted. Like any large home remodeling project , it took a fair amount of time for the project to be completed. The actual work only took 10 days and there were a couple of bad weather days. The GBC team was very thorough from verifying measurements to ordering materials and finishing the job. The actual work took about 10 days. The team that did the work did a great job from prepping to painting. The process to prep and paint for 'Coolwall' paint was followed as described in the work order. Every item on the work order was completed. At the end of each work day the team cleaned up the work site and made sure any equipment left on site was neatly stored away in my yard. After seeing the transformation I feel like this was money well spent on my 1956 home. I had the home painted with 'Coolwall' paint. I highly recommend it. Now that it's summer and getting really hot I can see the value in the 'Coolwall' paint. The front of my house faces west so the afternoon sun beats down on my home. I've noticed the temperatures inside my house have been reasonable based on the outside temperatures. The exterior of our home was painted by GBC. They did an excellent job! They replaced our old brick facade with new, modern materials and moved us into this century. They repaired the stucco, facia and eaves then painted them. The paint used has kept the house cooler as the heat is reflected away from the house. They were responsive to requests, stayed on schedule and were careful not to damage plants. The work accomplished was quality work. I would not hesitate to recomend them. read more

These folks are horrible! TONS of lip service, but not much more. Hired to put up fascia, remove faux rock and replace that area with new stucco. and paint the house. Job started on Sep 27th. STILL NOT DONE. Lots of poor workmanship! Workers are completely ill equipped. No ladders, brooms, hand tools for removing the earth from against the house. Even borrowed our extension cord one time. We had a guy use his foot to hold a board while he cut it with a power saw! I could go on and on. Bottom line is that it would be much cheaper to just drive to Home Depot and pick up workers than to pay someone else to do it for you. That is the quality of work we have had on our house. read more

I am so pleased to have a company that was extremely informative, courteous and on the same level from the start. Creepy and off-putting. Called today to schedule an appointment for estimate. They answered quickly and we got to scheduling. Then, the lady I'm scheduling with asks if I own my home with anyone else... strange question from a contractor. I answered yes and she proceeds to tell me that they like to have all of the owners present when they do a quote. Hold up! First, its our own business how we delegate tasks like finding contractors and doing home repairs. But, worse, when I pointed out that I thought this was an invasive request, she doubled-down and told me, "she's fine with it." Obviously, I'm not fine with it, that's while I'm telling you so! Customer service is horrible. I spoke to Mariah to book an appointment initially and she called me back to back with phone calls to confirm my address. I was very irritated with her communication skill. After they came out and gave me an estimate, she called me back and said they can give me a better price. I booked an appointment with her to see how much they can reduced. I canceled the appointment online because I changed my mind but somehow it didn't go through. I called them because I got a reminder text that my appointment is coming up. I called her and she said I should of call her anyway. This place is so messy! Just got our roof done with GBC remodeling. Lawrence the sales guy was great. Connected on our level. Explained everything from start to finish. Alex, the project manager, was very informational and friendly as well. The guys came out, scraped the roof off and had a new one finished the next day. Also had our solar uninstalled and reinstalled with them. The solar was reinstalled two days after the roof was finished. So fast! Great quality. Fast service. Comparing to other construction/contract work these guys are superior. I've had to have contractors come do work and are often unreliable and frustrating to work with. Not GBC. Lucera has been our point of contact for financing, she's also been beyond great. Finally Aaron, the owner, was great and very personable. I called to schedule a estimate on a new roof replacement and two guys Igor and other showed and started a nonsense conversation about what they were about to do on estimating my situation, After about a 20 minute they both came in and sat down and started bullshiting, I told them get to the bottom line and cut to the chase. They quoted me to do this job it would cost me 17k, I told them its 1350 sq ft roof not the Taj Mahal, after which I told them to GET THE "F" OUT!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY AT ALL!! Shady business practices. Lots of excuses and they do the hard sell trying to close you on the spot. They also cry poor saying their bid is only making them a tiny profit. Got 2 other bids and was significantly cheaper with contractors with far more/better reviews. Also wasted a lot of my time. They want to meet (and insist spouse is present like another reviewer says) several times. Clearly not accomstomed to dealing with higher net worth individuals. They ask you personal questions like what you each do for a living, etc. Clearly trying to figure out how high a bid they can do and whether you'll accept inferior work (in our opinion). read more

Inspector came out to our property and provided the cost and scope of the project and left us with a document. We said we would wait for the estimate to be sent via email that would also contain warranty info instead of giving them a deposit on the spot. I called them to inquire when we would receive our emailed quote with warranty info. The head marketing person seemed defensive and unprofessional instead of being helpful in answering questions. When we received the emailed estimate a week later, it was different than our original project quote. But no explanation? The emailed addendum sent to me now stated that there is "NO clean up and haul away of all job-related debris." Really? There is no clean up of roof debris. But that wasn't the most concerning discovery, it was that the boxes that were initially checked before are now unchecked. The in- person inspector/sales person told us that these items were necessary. I responded back twice to the email that GBC Remodeling sent to me with quote/warranty info and that I wanted to speak with the owner- but no one ever reached back out to us to clarify. Since not able to speak with owner to gain clarification, we reached out to other knowledgeable contractors in San Diego County. I discovered that this could be a situation of sales person not clear on products needed and unnecessary upselling. We would not use GBC Remodeling for our roof, remodel projects for our home or rental properties. I'm glad we didn't just give them a deposit and sign a contract like the sales person asked for. Let's see, I signed a contract with them back in April which said they would do my roof repair in May. It is now August and still nothing. I have been calling the to see when they will come but I just keep getting told that "Jason" will call back, which he doesn't. During the initial phone call for a new roof installation the office manager asked if I was married. I thought this was strange and a little intrusive. She explained this was because they wanted both decision makers present for the estimate so a decision could be made. After the roof inspection an estimate was scribbled on one sheet of paper which was barely legible. No copy for the company. The sales person expected a decision to be made at this time and I felt very pressured. I decided not to sign and in the following days kept getting calls from the office manager who was forceful and rather rude insisting that I call her back. read more

I had a new roof put on by GBC Remodeling. They were so helpful and responsive, until I signed the contract. I called to request an advertised senior special after signing and they would not return calls or emails ever. GBC Remodeling estimated it would take two weeks to complete the roof project due to multiple roofs. It was completed in less than three days. I was overcharged since the estimate was for one to two weeks of work. Again, absolutely no calls returned. They get your money and they are unreachable. They did not provide a bathroom for the workers, but that was included in my cost. They blocked my garage overnight although I asked them each day to leave a space since my fuse box is in there. They also left the back gate open and my dog got out. There's a beamed ceiling in my bedroom and it should have been protected. My entire bedroom, carpet window treatments and furniture were covered in roof debris. I am writing this as a warning. This company should not be trusted. I was ripped off. read more

I am writing this as someone who only got an estimate from Aaron, as we ended up deciding against doing a major remodel partially based on Aaron's advice. Aaron was extremely attentive and helpful, and provided honest and straightforward advice based on what we wanted. He advised us that given the scope of work, the cost and time required, we should spend more time thinking it over. We really appreciated his input and are going to spend more time thinking things over before proceeding. If we did decide to pursue a remodel in the future, or if we had an unplanned repair or remodel project that came up, we would absolutely use Aaron and his team at GBC. Head spinning amazing! We've lived over 30 years in our existing house. Have remodeled several times, hired many, many contractors. In a few cases, we had to hire a contractor to fix the previous contractors screwup. GBC is absolutely in my top two best ever contractors. Aaron, Daniel and the office crew are amazing. They are quick to respond. We sprung a serious leak in our roof, right after we had just remodeled our entire downstairs. At the busiest time of year for roofers, GBC returned my request for a quote within three hours and I had an estimator at the house that very same day, and the roof was completed in the next three weeks. When It came time to narrow down what products we were using, Aaron brought the roof shingle sample boards to the house personally. Walked us through the entire process, discussed the warrantees and the guarantees that came with his company and the products that he uses and gave us his cell phone to call if we had any issues or questions. Daniel stepped in next as a project manager. As seriously busy as he was multiple roofing jobs going on, he always returned my phone call within a couple of hours. He also walked us through the entire process. But the true jewel in this company, is Ramone and his install crew. What an amazing bunch of guys. Fast, precise, serious attention to detail, property was left broom clean every day, and you can tell that his crew really loves their job when watching them work together. We had an added issue in that we have leased solar panels that had to be removed and replaced. GBC works with licensed solar contractors. It took them less than a day to remove the panels. And once the roof was done, it took them 2 days to put the solar panels back up. When completed, we had our Solar contractor come back out to walk the roof to make sure that the install was approved and that our lease specifications were still intact. We passed with flying colors. The quality of the product that they use on the roof was top level. While they are a little bit more expensive then everybody else, it's so worth the money. Bottom line, you get what you pay for. We now have a 50 year roof on our house with high-end materials and the warrantees to back it up. I highly recommend that you give GBC a call.
