On May 15 I took my vehicle in to have the oil pressure switch replaced. After paying $700 they did replace the pressure switch and fixed the issue. But then I noticed that the under side front splash guard was missing. This splash guard connected to the frame with screws and also attached to the rear splash guard (it is petty big) which was now hanging down dragging on the ground. Also, I noticed that they had cut a long slice in the right side wheel well splash guard. This happens to be covering the ac compressor and the oil pressure switch area. I took my vehicle back and informed them of these issues. I was told they would order the parts and contact me to replace them. I was even sent a vehicle condition report email on May 23rd stating this. I waited and waited and no call. I have called twice and each time I am told that the person (I believe it is James) I was dealing with is helping another customer and will call me back. So here it is June 17th, 2026 and no call back. Unfortunately, I did trust this shop and thought they would rectify the situation but that does not seem to be the case. read more

This place used to be good however it's staff and service have crashed and burned in spectacular style...Super disappointed! Brought my wife's Lexus in for some maintenance a week before driving it to North Carolina ie, transmission service , coolant flush and serpentine belt.. They literally lost the splash guard in the wheel well which protects the serpentine belt and pulleys from road damage. When it was brought to there attention. The plate was "ordered" a week later NOTHING! Absolutely no sense of urgency to correct their incompetence. Just Sad...! In addition to the above nonsense. Out of 9 plastic pins that hold down the engine covers NOT ONE was replaced! Just don't bring your vehicle to this place. Manager and staff treat it like a playground. Almost 2 weeks and not even a call. I LIterally had to order the part from Amazon and got it in 2 days. Removed the wheel and installed it myself.. I went to have my AC fixed in my car and asked for an oil change. When I got there I was told that sounds like $350 worth of work. When I got the quote it was $2,100. I'm not disputing that they found other items wrong. What I am disputing is one item they indicated is $189 to diagnose my check engine light. I specifically asked them to fill my tires as the tire gauge light was on. Person on phone said yes, that was an error, check engine wasn't on and agreed it was just the tire pressure gauge. I just got in my car after paying for the AC to get fixed (it is) but the tire gauge is still on and the oil sticker is from the previous Jiffy Lube stop. I would be pretty certain if they rotated my tires they would have filled the tires and 100% sure they would have changed the sticker. Now I don't have any clue if they did what I paid for! My girlfriend and I recently took her truck in for warranty work, the third time around, for the same issue. She expressed her frustration and asked why this same issue could not be resolved. Immediately, a young male, named Chris, raised his voice in a unprofessional manner, saying don't act crazy, and claiming her immaculatly garage kept truck was old, as he kept ranting and raving. She called corporate, on a recorded line, reported the incident and took her vehicle to another Sun Devil location for the warranty work. She spoke with Travis, the manager at the new Sun Devil location about the incident, and what was going on with her truck. He was very polite, had his technician troubleshoot her truck, and resolved the issue. We found out later, that the employee she had the incident with at the Val Vista & Warner location, was apparently the manager. This young man could benefit from anger management training. Prior to this incident, my girlfriend and I had taken our vehicles to the Val Vista & Warner location for many years. We previously had good service. In the past year, the Val Vista & Warner location has had a high rate of manager and technician turnover. Hopefully, corporate can improve the issues with this location. read more

I went in on March 8, 2025 to get an oil change. Everything went well until I picked up my car and I asked the service person if they had rotated my tires as it was included. He said if it is on the receipt then they did . I checked my car tires as I marked them and told him that they were not done. He told me that the service guys were gone to lunch and he will ask them . I never heard back. Then I received a text message as to how my service went and explained in the text what happened. They said someone would get back to me on this. No one did . I waited until now as I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt in clearing it up or having me back to rotate my tires. But is has now been 2 months and I don't expect to hear from them . Note to other consumers , beware and mark your tires as they say they rotate your tires in the oil change but they do not . I went to Sun Devil Auto to get my car serviced for an oil change and tire rotation. When I arrived to the car shop, I told Jason I forgot my coupon that I left at home for $15 off a Full Synthetic Oil Change. I asked him if they had anything in their system to help me with the $15 coupon if I didn't have it in person and he said they don't have that kind of information on their computer. So then I told him I would check my car and Jason told me not to worry about it until after my oil change and tire rotation was done. So after I sat and waited, Jason informed me that I also needed an Engine Air Filter change because mine has debris in there. He told me it was $29.99 so I decided to get it done with. Then I told him in the future, I'll need an Actuator for my A/C system because the A/C in my car does not work. He then told me it would be around $1,600 for them to fix it and it would take 10 hours of labor to do so. I told Jason that I don't have the funds right now for that service so I would have to wait a while. Then when my car was done, he rang me up for a Full Synthetic Oil Change and an Engine Air Filter repair. But I reminded him I needed to check my car for my coupon. So I went to my car to find it and was unsuccessful. I came back into the shop and paid for the 2 services, then left the shop. After I left, my mom called Jason and asked him why he could not take the coupon off the bill. My mom told Jason he received the coupons in the mail and that's why I came to Sun Devil for the oil change. But Jason told my mom that I left and paid already and didn't want to USE the coupons. Which was very untrue. I told Jason I wanted Sun Devil Auto to service my car in the future because I don't/can't trust many car places, and I had a good experience with their shop in the past. But now, after this experience, I most likely will not be back to Sun Devil Auto, on Val Vista and Warner. One reason is the prices and another reason is listening to their paying customers. Hopefully I can find another car shop to help fix my A/C unit for less than $1,600. And I really hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. read more

I went in 2 years ago for an emergency repair. They told me the battery I had was going to be dead soon, so ok, I agreed for them to change it even though it really wasn't dying (I tested at Autozone two days before that day) But it's ok, because a new battery with 5 years warranty sounds good to me if I don't have to do it myself. Today the battery is dead. Ok it happens. But when I tried to change it myself, I always do it by myself before this time, I discovered that the battery they installed was not the right size and it was bigger and caused tension between parts and damage. I don't know how you did it, but for a Toyota Corolla, I really think you are so incompetent. And this incident has caused an unexpected consequence for another important event. read more

Getting ripped off by a mechanic is a nightmare we all dread. Well, Sundevil auto is part of the problem. I have been taking my vehicles to Sundevil auto for general maintenance and oil changes for the last 5 years. I trusted them and decided to have some major work done. The manager, which I have gotten to know, assured me that they were qualified to handle the work. It was a huge leap of faith, since the work was going to be almost $4000. It turned out to be done horribly. The part they installed failed after their scrawny 24,000 mile warranty expired. The original part lasted over 150,000 miles. They refused to be flexible, costing me over $1000 in ADDITIONAL repairs. I can't tell you how disappointed I am in Sundevil. They earned my trust, and then failed me miserably. I decided to contact their regional manager John Erikson. I explained the situation, but to no avail. John harshly stated that the warranty had expired, and they would do NOTHING for me. Even after further discussion, John just repeated that he could do nothing to fix the situation. Keep in mind, that if I had the work done at the dealership, the price would've been very similar and I would've had a unlimited mile warranty on the part. Not the measly 24,000 miles at Sundevil. Also, John did not have an answer to the mileage warranty discrepancy. When I explained that I was going to let everyone know how this matter was handled, he got upset, accused me of threatening him, and hung up. Very unprofessional! I guess he preferred that I just not tell him what my intentions are... I know we all think we're going to get screwed at the dealer on price. But if you have anything other than oil change, don't have it done at Sundevil. That is, unless you can afford to have the work done twice. read more

INCOMPETENCE OR SCAM I rarely write reviews but, for this, I will make an exception. I had an experience there which was either ridiculous incompetence or just an old-fashioned auto repair scam. My wife was driving our SUV, it started to make an odd sound, shut down, and would not restart. After having it towed there, Sun Devil Auto began their diagnostic process. After three days and having their "head guy" take a look at it, the diagnosis came back--a computer malfunction which cause the fuel injection system to simultaneously pour fuel into all of the cylinders causing catastrophic damage to the engine. The only solution: total engine replacement at a starting cost of $11,000 and then they would have to see what fuel injectors cost which could drive the repair past $12,000. This is obviously a very specific diagnosis of which there must have been some evidence of. Before spending this much money, I obviously needed a second opinion. We had the car towed down Val Vista to the dealership and asked them what they thought. It took them less than ten minutes to discover the issue: a seized air conditioning compressor which in turn was not allowing the engine to turn over. After simply removing the belt from the compressor, the engine ran perfectly. Total cost of the repair: ~$2400. This could've obviously been cheaper had we not had the dealership complete the repair but at this point we just needed our car back. Now the question is, how can an auto repair shop arrive at such a specific diagnosis for a problem without any evidence of such a problem? Especially one that results in the most expensive repair a car can need? It can really only be one of two options: utter incompetence or just a scam. Being that they had the car which couldn't move without a tow truck, and I had no way of verifying what they were telling me, I tend to lean towards the latter. In any case, there is no way I would ever bring a vehicle back to this business and I suggest you don't either. read more

Stay clear of this place. They have been consistently dishonest, over-priced, and ineffective. Recently they told me that to fix a torque converter they would need to replace the entire transmission of my Santa Fe, to the total cost of $3700. Eventually I had the work done for $1900 somewhere else. The last straw was after my engine light went on I reluctantly took my the car back to SDA since they are the closest shop to my house. They told me that I needed a new engine due to 'excessive rod wear', something that would cost $7500. Since I didn't trust SDA by this then, I took the car to the Hyundai dealer to get a second opinion. They found no such issue, and instead found a minor issue with a sensor, which they fixed by resetting it for free. read more

I've been going to this location for years because of the great customer service and fair prices. However, today I was disappointed to see that one of the employees had broken a curtain rod in my van. When I paid for the oil change, the man working the desk was very friendly but he did not mention anything breaking inside the van. Once I saw the damage, we asked the man at the front desk what had happened. He said that the employee said "it fell". There is NO way it just fell, the only way that rod would come down is if someone put their weight on it. When first installing the rod, I tested some weight on it and can confirm it was extremely secure. I'm very disappointed. I understand it was probably an accident but to not take accountability was disrespectful. I don't want to bring my business to people that will damage my vehicle and lie about it. read more

Hate being lied to. Something as simple as tire pressure. I explicitly told the manager my low pressure light is on and he assured me they rotated and checked the pressure, which he said was completed and good to. In fact, he said all tires were filled to 35psi. When I got home, I checked and all tires were 22-23psi. To confirm, I took my car in (in case my gauge was incorrect). No surprise, all were extremely low. This place is no better than the other places ran by shady people. My first time here and certainly my last. read more

My 16 year old son needed to get his car fixed. These guys took exceptional care of him. They really went above and beyond in getting parts, which aren't always easy to find for a 1990 Miata. I took my car in for an oil leak, they told me the valve caps needed to be replaced. The did such a poor job and over tightened the new caps so badly that they all completely broke, just causing another leak, and also completely damaging one of my valves. They left a plastic cord hanging in there that if it would have fallen in the basket it would have caused another huge repair. My engine was covered in oil after, they didn't even clean up their job. My wife took our Civic in for AC diagnosis. Derek was able to help us and he did so excellently. He double checked that our warranty wouldn't cover it before doing any repairs, and let us know the entire process before repair. We double checked and felt comfortable with the price we were quoted so we went ahead with repair. He let us know that our Freon was super super low and he would usually charge more, but since he quoted us lower he was going with the lower price. Second time getting an oil change here. Had them check my AC belt because it was screaming! We ended up replacing all the belts ( pretty standard when you replace a belt, you replace them all.) I dropped it off and a couple hours later I got a call that it was ready. I asked him about my belts and filters and they were able to check them to make sure everything looked good. Chris is honest! In my 40 years on this planet, I have never met such an incompetent group if thief's in my life. I first took my truck in for transmission issues. The assistance tard quoted me at 18k but she did some favors and it was 13k when I took it through their own people it was 7,200.... Then this month I took it in for a grinding noise in my truck. They shipped it to another place that charges me 2800 for a differential that I probably didn't need cause the grinding is still happening and now my truck is smoking and won't drive cause they never even looked at let alone fix the issue. In January I took it in for front end work. 3k later and I have bent and broken parts they installed. (They never fixed it before the differential. So now I have to take it back in to fix the front end they screwed up which is what is probably causing the front grinding. Do NOT ever take your vehicle to these clowns. I will start by saying, this situation is partially my fault. When he called to discuss repairs I was driving and didn't fully confirm what work was being done for the price quoted. What is not my fault is the borderline illegal price gouging. I got fully taken advantage of. I got 2 struts and got charged $965, just for parts. The dealer quoted me a few months back for the same repair. Their quote for OEM parts at the DEALER was a little under $300. Labor prices were on par with the other quotes. I don't know what brand they put in, but I know how much struts cost and they are usually sold in pairs. Assuming they chose a cheaper brand, I paid a 9X markup on parts and almost a 4X markup on parts compared to dealer prices. Same with rear shocks. $500 on parts, which is about a 3X markup. I also got charged 37.95 to 'reset a steering angle sensor' which my vehicle does not even have. I will be exploring all avenues to figure out what I can do. The best I can do now is to tell everyone else to stay FAR. FAR away. read more

Phenomenal service!!! Brief story: My AC unit stopped working in my car. I originally stopped at Kia because my car is a Kia Optima, but the service was terrible plus no warrant. Frustrated, so I stopped at Firestone, where they ended up telling me I needed a brand new AC system and some other odd and end parts. I didn't believe them to be honest. It didn't feel genuine and I was being scammed. So I left, driving in this AZ heat with no AC is no joke. Plus, I have a child that I would never put in harms way. So I started asking around for some good places. A neighbor of mine recommended that I give this auto shop a chance. She spoke very highly of the staff and their knowledge. So I did! I am beyond happy and pleased. Turns out AC unit was just over charged (same thing as I had predicted) and they fixed it right on the spot. No extra charges, or hidden fees. I didn't get scammed and the price was unbeatable!! This family owned shop definitely was worth every penny. They run the shop with the same army values and that alone means everything to me. Looks like my experience with these guys is a common one... was told it would take a day and a half, 3 days later I got my truck back. They kept saying it was taking longer because they are "thorough" the only thing they are thorough at is mismanaging their time and overbooking the garage. It's been two days since my service and my dashboard started lighting up for a completely different problem. These guys saved me! My car wouldn't start, tow truck took 5 hours to tow me and I ended up getting there 15 minutes before they closed even though I said I would be ther around 1:30pm. Derek was amazing and was so nice on all my frantic calls into them. Jeff (I hope I got that right) was so calm and empathetic and stayed late with another tech to fix my car so I could have it that night. I was very frazzled because I absolutely needed my car early morning for an important meeting. They calmed me down and were so nice and helpful.
