cute but crowded and the music was loud for how small the place is. got the strawberry matcha latte which is good but the matcha itself is okay, a little bit grassy tasting imo. the drink is perfectly sweet and creamy, and the strawberry flavor is prominent, which helps with cutting out the grassy flavor of the matcha. FYI for matcha connoisseurs, they don't mix the matcha by hand/whisk. also got the banana coffee latte which was good. the coffee flavor wasn't too strong which i didn't mind, and the banana flavor was on the mellow side which i actually appreciated, as banana tends to dominate as a flavor. i loved the toffee bits they put on top, super yummy. service was okay, i didn't have a bad experience with the workers like other reviewers did, but they weren't overtly friendly or enthusiastic either which is fine.
Looking for good matcha on socials and found this spot. Small cafe, has lots of trinkets to look at inside. Saw they had a strawberry crunch matcha but was seasonal item so they no longer served it. The ube coconut matcha is spot on and definitely a dessert type of matcha. Ube cold foam is thick, creamy, vanilla flavors topped with coconut flakes. Matcha is clean and pairs well with sweet cold foam.
With so many new cafés popping up in Sacramento, it can be hard for one to stand out--but Sun House Cafe's banana matcha is definitely worth the visit. The café is on the smaller side, with just a handful of tables and some bar seating if you're lucky enough to snag a spot. I tried the banana matcha with oat milk ($8) and really enjoyed it. The toffee and banana bits are so yum. I also appreciate their cup sizes are decently large and they do NOT charge extra for milk substitute!! While the matcha wasn't quite as rich or strong as I typically prefer, the unique flavor combination and the café's cream-topped drinks made it a worthwhile experience.
I have been dying to check out Sun House Cafe - I had heard nothing but good things about their cafe! I can't even tell you how excited I was when I found out they were coming to my work and catering for our work event! They had 2 drinks to keep up with the large crowd, a cold brew and a Matcha - with a banana cream top and sea salt caramel cream top I believe. I tried both, but I was a big fan of the Matcha which I thought I would never say! I am not a fan of Matcha, but man, was theirs good! The banana cream top took it over...the top! Staff were all really sweet and did a great job getting through the constant long line! While I have yet to actually visit Sun House Cafe, I can confidently say that their coffee is great! I heard multiple people say that their Matcha was one of the best they have ever had! I cannot wait to try their Matcha and other drinks again! I will be visiting very soon! Check them out!
Sunhouse has become my go-to spot for matcha. They're always rotating in seasonal drinks and new menu items, which keeps me coming back to see what's next. On my most recent visit, I tried their Honey Lavender Matcha with lemon cream (they were out of vanilla), and it was so good. I found myself savoring every sip just to make it last a little longer. They also had pastries this time, which was a nice surprise since they didn't have any during my last visit.
I was recommended to try Sun House by many and finally had the chance to try it. I got the matcha latte and banana matcha. Out of the two, I definitely recommend the banana matcha. It is perfectly sweet and delicious, and the banana cream was so tasty. This is the best banana matcha in Sacramento in my opinion. The whole milk here isn't lactose free, but they have oat and almond milk for alternatives. The employees are super nice and outgoing. The cafe itself is small with very minimal seatings and can be loud so I wouldn't recommend it to be a studying spot.

Service: friendly, decent speed A lot of people working in small space: 4-5 The spot is tiny so only have a few seatings, it is more of pick up and go than hanging out in extended period of time. Matcha drink is good quality and not overly watered down. They also sell accessories and knit knat ornaments next to the cashier.
I personally really like this place! My friend has a vendetta against the coffee because it is made using a home espresso machine, and tastes bitter to her. I'm somewhat picky around about coffee and I actually don't mind it at all - perhaps it's the sweet flavors that mask, but I really like their espresso drinks. I've tried the fruity pebbles and the banana cream iced lattes and I would definitely come back!! Their Matcha is just okay. It looks like they pre-mix it in a pitcher and it definitely tasted watery. Definitely not the worst matcha I've had by any means, but if you've had good Matcha, then maybe this is a place to only try once (or just skip)! It's very small inside, just some bench seating. Parking is not great, it's street parking, but I've always found a spot about a block away (like a one minute walk).
Okay my friend and I came to Sun House Cafe on April 1st around 11:40 a.m. We had seen this new coffee spot pop up on our Instagram reels as places we should check out and we decided to give it a shot. I will say that it has been a long time for me where I had to force myself to slow down and not suck down my drink. These drinks that we got which were the seasonal drinks, the matcha fruity Pebbles drink and the sea salt caramel drink were out of this world. The fruity pebble seasonal drink was just a throwback to childhood nostalgia because as I drink it I remember sitting in front of the TV watching Saturday morning cartoons and letting my fruity Pebbles cereal get mushy so that it could flavor the milk. Add the addition of matcha to it which gives it that yummy earthy taste it was just a brilliant combination together. My friend, who's not a big coffee drinker, was extremely surprised by how well balanced the flavors were in his drink. He talked about how the sea salt really helped make it a bit more savory but didn't take away from the sweetness of the caramel. He, to my surprise, actually finished his drink before me because it was that good. I am definitely excited to come back and try the other seasonal items that pop up throughout the year. I would also love to try the bit of pastries that were available. Did not do it because we had just eaten a snack and we really wanted to focus on the drinks while we were there. Oh and totally forgot about the Ambiance and the service. Both were just charming is the easiest word to use. The space is small but intimate and very welcoming. The individual that helped us behind the order counter was super helpful, answered all of our questions, and even gave recommendations based on the limited supply that they had for the day as many people had come in for coffee that morning. So again definitely a place to check out.
I saw this place on tik tok and thought it was super cute so I decided to come check it out! It's pretty small and we came on a Saturday so of course it was very packed but the drinks came out great! I got their banana matcha and it was delicious, I'm glad I chose that over their regular latte. Since they're known for their matcha I would highly recommended getting it if you were to visit because it tasted so good and fresh! The banana chips were a nice additional crunch. I wish the actual place was bigger because it got so overwhelmingly busy that i felt almost claustrophobic lol but honestly what can they really do about it. They made the wrong drink for my friend but immediately fixed their mistake! Anyways, I'd definitely recommend if you're looking for some good matcha in sac!
I'm not sure what took us so long, but we finally made it in to Sun House Cafe. Parking was a bit of a struggle, but well worth it!!!! We didn't have to look at the menu, we went for the Banana Latte and Banana Matcha. The Banana Latte was delicious. The banana Cream on top is the BEST I've ever had! And love the toffee pieces and banana slice on top! Perfect touch! My daughter's Banana Matcha was just as good. The perfect amount of banana. AMAZING! Would love to try the Churro series next but kinda stuck on the banana. Maybe I'll go double fisted next time. 10/10
Two baristas working, which feels like the max for the space. The barista was friendly and soft-spoken. I ordered the iced Churro Latte and Banana Crème Latte. Loved the Churro, well balanced and not overly sweet. My co-worker enjoyed the Banana Crème as well. Both drinks were very aesthetic and I'd come back to try other flavors. Street parking only, park on the street where you can't turn right, you'll have to go around the block. The area has homeless folks, but mornings are quieter. Sun House Cafe is very small with limited seating meant more for waiting than hanging out. 3 stars mainly due to the location and small interior.

Such a nice, cozy shop with an incredible staff and even better drinks! The peanut butter chocolate latte is so flavorful and has just the right amount of sweetness. Also, the banana matcha is genuinely some of the best matcha I've ever tried! read more

Sun house cafe is a cute revolving door of fun creative flavors and amazing vibes. The storefront is no bigger than the average coffee shops back of house, but it holds home to such an efficient and amazing team. The staff is incredibly kind, and the drinks are well crafted. It is CLEAN, curated, and is something to talk about loudly. Their matcha is amazing, but honestly all their drinks are. If I lived in Sacramento I'd be here daily. read more

Great spot for lattes and matcha! I tried the iced chai latte with banana foam (recommended by my daughter) and it was so good! I tried a sip of my daughter's matcha and it was delicious as well - not too sweet with the right amount of bitterness. Will definitely be back. read more

The drinks here are amazing! I've heard of Sun House Cafe by word-of-mouth and wanted to see what the crazy was about. One time here and they got me SOLD! They are located in Midtown in a busy area. Parking can be a pain due to all the construction and compact area, but luckily we were able to find street parking. Not much of a line when we came and the staff were super nice. Menu was larger than I thought! They have their house lattes, tea, matcha, non-caffeinated, and a seasonal menu. I got the Banana Cream Hojicha and wow was it delicious! The banana cream was made on point and has dried bananas as well. Great banana flavor that complimented the Hojicha tea, which can be nutty. Their matcha drinks are also very good and had great flavor. We also opted to purchase their banana pudding ($7) and it was delicious! They had a few other unique pastries too that I will try next time. read more
Came on a Wed before thanksgiving! It was relatively empty around 1pm. I've been wanting to try for a while now. I love seasonal menus and wanted to try the peppermint. the cafe itself is really cute and street parking wasn't bad at all. It's nice that you are able to see them prep the drinks. Peppermint Matcha- flavoring wasn't anything special, cream top seemed a bit flat and bland taste, only peppermint was the topping. a bit disappointed. Banana cream top hojicha- better!! but flavor wasn't completely there either. Had better. Overall, maybe i came on an odd day? Maybe one day I will try again. read more

Ive only been to sun house 3 times-i say only because theyre so good i would come a little too often if they were closer to me ;) my fiance and I have had their banana matcha and hojicha before and both were delicious and great tea quality. On our recent visit, their lines have def gotten more eased up since last time when they were still new-this time we tried their blueberry matcha and the seasonal butter scotch latte. Both were so amazing, but a huge stand out was the latte for being strong and having such a delightful housemate syrup and cream top-sometimes im cautious to get espresso from places more known for their matcha ,but this place nailed it. Service was fast and friendly,vibes were great. Although theres not much seating inside, its a cute little place to hang out, and if you're a matcha snob, this is def the place to go read more

I've seen Sun House all over social media, so I was exited to finally try it. I went during the week so there wasn't a line. The employees were all super friendly. I ordered the banana matcha and strawberry matcha cookie. The banana matcha was delicious - perfectly creamy, sweet, and I loved the little crunchy bits. The strawberry matcha cookie was not my favorite flavor, but I did like the soft and chewy texture. Overall, solid matcha spot. I would return and recommend. read more
Sun House Cafe- An adorable little coffee shop on 16th street. No parking lot. Street parking only! I felt like I kept seeing people rave about this place so I had to go try it! It's a very small coffee shop with limited space. I ordered an iced chai with the Banana cream on it! It took quite awhile to come out- the place was packed. 8.5/10! I couldn't really taste the chai because of the Banana cream. It really just tasted like a banana coffee. I wasn't mad about it! Sun house also had some cookies and pastries. It was decorated for Halloween! The staff were very nice! Would love to come back to try more of the menu! read more

My friend and I tried Sun House Cafe for the first time and we both got matcha we did the churro and the strawberry. Both were really good. The churro one was super cozy and the strawberry was a little lighter and refreshing. The cafe itself is small with pretty limited seating and they don't have food, so it's more of a grab a matcha or coffee to-go kind of spot. I'd definitely come back to try their coffees next time. Worth checking out if you're in the area. read more
the ambiance of this cafe is so cute, but it's super small which i guess you can expect for a cafe in downtown. there's not a lot of seating & the line gets long fast on weekends. they don't accept cash so make sure you have your card ready. the space was super stuffy & i don't think the air was working or they just didn't have it on so it felt humid in there. their bathroom space is clean but they didn't have toilet paper or any seat covers either. aside from those few downsides, we got the banana matcha & banana latte which was both reallyyy good. i'd definitely come back again! read more
Overall, the matcha was alright. I would come back to try other drinks but I wouldn't come back for the matcha banana cream latte. I believe that there are other places serving better matcha banana cream latte. Drink: (3/5) Matcha Banana Cream Latte ($7.50): The drink was alright, but I've had better in the area. The matcha itself was very bitter, without much of a matcha, nutty, or earthy flavor, which took me by surprise given its color. Surprisingly, as someone who doesn't like sweet drinks, I thought it could be sweeter. The banana cream was alright, the flavor was very light, it tasted more like an essence than a true banana flavor. Though the toffee bits were a nice touch, it added more flavor and texture. Service & Ambiance: (4/5) The service was good. Given the fact that I was there on a Saturday, at noon, and there were others ahead of me, I received my drink approximately 7 minutes after ordering. Finally stopped by Sun House Cafe! This specialty matcha and coffee shop has been blowing up on Instagram, and I wanted to wait for the lines to settle down. Sun House doesn't have a designated parking lot, but I got lucky with an open spot right out front on Saturday afternoon. Sun House is a small coffee shop, and I'd recommend it for grab and go only. Inside there's a couple benches for waiting, but no tables for dine in. Outside, I noticed a sign that they don't accept cash, so plan to have a card on hand. I ordered the Black Cherry Vanilla Matcha, which is one of their seasonal specials that rolled out at the beginning of August. I really liked the flavor combination and am interested in coming back to try their Ube Cream Matcha. Like others have noted, Sun House is on the more expensive side of the scale. I paid almost $10 with tip for one drink and noticed there's 7.25% sales tax applied. read more
If you want to feel feelings you must try their Matcha Banana Cream Latte: Matcha, your choice of milk, vanilla syrup, & banana cream (contains dairy). Topped with toffee bits (contains almonds) & banana chips. So good it made me want to cry! The banana cream was light- not too banana pudding-y. Probably my favorite spot in Sacramento! Only a few people in line on a Friday morning. Took about 6-7 minutes to get my drink. This spot isnt really a "sit down and study" cafe since there are only a few benches and some standing room. Was really excited to try the matcha here and have heard lots of great things about it. Really liked how "experimental" and creative some of the drinks on the menu were and had a hard time choosing which one I wanted! The interior is really cute, with some Halloween decor and some benches on the side. This is more like a order and pick up location because of the size and lack of seating but that's ok! My friend and I ordered two seasonal drinks: ube cream matcha latte and black cherry vanilla matcha latte; and one earl gray matcha latte. As much as I enjoyed the idea of the blend of flavors, I was disappointed in the matcha itself. The first sip of the black cherry and earl gray drinks, the matcha was smooth and rich. It balanced with the additional flavoring, but I was hit with a strong, bitter aftertaste, which can tell us about the quality of the matcha or the heat of the water for preparation. The ube cream on the matcha latte was delicious, but I could not taste too much of the matcha, as it was overwhelmed by the ube flavoring. The pricing and sizing of the matcha was standard. Upon receiving my drinks I can see a lot of ice above the matcha, and the cup was not full to the top. But the ube matcha was filled to the top. Overall, I enjoyed the drinks here but the bitter after taste of the matcha was unpleasant. I would love to try their coffee next time! read more
Best vibes, and amazing drinks! I mean what more could you ask for from a coffee and tea shop. So cool to have watched them grown from a popup to an actual storefront. Absolutely crushing it with the drinks which are now in a bigger size. I got the Ube matcha and it did not disappoint (if I could have a cup full of the Ube cream I would lol) the added matcha on top is a beautiful addition too. Their branding is 100/10! The menus look so cool and I love how it matches the energy the store gives off. With the bright green and high contrast that flows together. So cool that they now have unique snacks for sale and have kiosk bakery sweets!! The strawberry matcha doubt is so good! Will definitely have to go back and try more of their seasonal specials and more goodies. read more
