Sun house cafe is a cute revolving door of fun creative flavors and amazing vibes. The storefront is no bigger than the average coffee shops back of house, but it holds home to such an efficient and amazing team. The staff is incredibly kind, and the drinks are well crafted. It is CLEAN, curated, and is something to talk about loudly. Their matcha is amazing, but honestly all their drinks are. If I lived in Sacramento I'd be here daily.
With so many new cafés popping up in Sacramento, it can be hard for one to stand out--but Sun House Cafe's banana matcha is definitely worth the visit. The café is on the smaller side, with just a handful of tables and some bar seating if you're lucky enough to snag a spot. I tried the banana matcha with oat milk ($8) and really enjoyed it. The toffee and banana bits are so yum. I also appreciate their cup sizes are decently large and they do NOT charge extra for milk substitute!! While the matcha wasn't quite as rich or strong as I typically prefer, the unique flavor combination and the café's cream-topped drinks made it a worthwhile experience.
I have been dying to check out Sun House Cafe - I had heard nothing but good things about their cafe! I can't even tell you how excited I was when I found out they were coming to my work and catering for our work event! They had 2 drinks to keep up with the large crowd, a cold brew and a Matcha - with a banana cream top and sea salt caramel cream top I believe. I tried both, but I was a big fan of the Matcha which I thought I would never say! I am not a fan of Matcha, but man, was theirs good! The banana cream top took it over...the top! Staff were all really sweet and did a great job getting through the constant long line! While I have yet to actually visit Sun House Cafe, I can confidently say that their coffee is great! I heard multiple people say that their Matcha was one of the best they have ever had! I cannot wait to try their Matcha and other drinks again! I will be visiting very soon! Check them out!
Looking for good matcha on socials and found this spot. Small cafe, has lots of trinkets to look at inside. Saw they had a strawberry crunch matcha but was seasonal item so they no longer served it. The ube coconut matcha is spot on and definitely a dessert type of matcha. Ube cold foam is thick, creamy, vanilla flavors topped with coconut flakes. Matcha is clean and pairs well with sweet cold foam.
Sunhouse has become my go-to spot for matcha. They're always rotating in seasonal drinks and new menu items, which keeps me coming back to see what's next. On my most recent visit, I tried their Honey Lavender Matcha with lemon cream (they were out of vanilla), and it was so good. I found myself savoring every sip just to make it last a little longer. They also had pastries this time, which was a nice surprise since they didn't have any during my last visit.
I saw this place on tik tok and thought it was super cute so I decided to come check it out! It's pretty small and we came on a Saturday so of course it was very packed but the drinks came out great! I got their banana matcha and it was delicious, I'm glad I chose that over their regular latte. Since they're known for their matcha I would highly recommended getting it if you were to visit because it tasted so good and fresh! The banana chips were a nice additional crunch. I wish the actual place was bigger because it got so overwhelmingly busy that i felt almost claustrophobic lol but honestly what can they really do about it. They made the wrong drink for my friend but immediately fixed their mistake! Anyways, I'd definitely recommend if you're looking for some good matcha in sac!
Cute little cafe to stop by. Parking: free street parking Menu: keep changing except regular matcha latte, regular coffee. For example: banana latte or ube latte are seasonal. Service: friendly, decent speed A lot of people working in small space: 4-5 The spot is tiny so only have a few seatings, it is more of pick up and go than hanging out in extended period of time. Matcha drink is good quality and not overly watered down. They also sell accessories and knit knat ornaments next to the cashier.
I personally really like this place! My friend has a vendetta against the coffee because it is made using a home espresso machine, and tastes bitter to her. I'm somewhat picky around about coffee and I actually don't mind it at all - perhaps it's the sweet flavors that mask, but I really like their espresso drinks. I've tried the fruity pebbles and the banana cream iced lattes and I would definitely come back!! Their Matcha is just okay. It looks like they pre-mix it in a pitcher and it definitely tasted watery. Definitely not the worst matcha I've had by any means, but if you've had good Matcha, then maybe this is a place to only try once (or just skip)! It's very small inside, just some bench seating. Parking is not great, it's street parking, but I've always found a spot about a block away (like a one minute walk).
I was recommended to try Sun House by many and finally had the chance to try it. I got the matcha latte and banana matcha. Out of the two, I definitely recommend the banana matcha. It is perfectly sweet and delicious, and the banana cream was so tasty. This is the best banana matcha in Sacramento in my opinion. The whole milk here isn't lactose free, but they have oat and almond milk for alternatives. The employees are super nice and outgoing. The cafe itself is small with very minimal seatings and can be loud so I wouldn't recommend it to be a studying spot.
Okay my friend and I came to Sun House Cafe on April 1st around 11:40 a.m. We had seen this new coffee spot pop up on our Instagram reels as places we should check out and we decided to give it a shot. I will say that it has been a long time for me where I had to force myself to slow down and not suck down my drink. These drinks that we got which were the seasonal drinks, the matcha fruity Pebbles drink and the sea salt caramel drink were out of this world. The fruity pebble seasonal drink was just a throwback to childhood nostalgia because as I drink it I remember sitting in front of the TV watching Saturday morning cartoons and letting my fruity Pebbles cereal get mushy so that it could flavor the milk. Add the addition of matcha to it which gives it that yummy earthy taste it was just a brilliant combination together. My friend, who's not a big coffee drinker, was extremely surprised by how well balanced the flavors were in his drink. He talked about how the sea salt really helped make it a bit more savory but didn't take away from the sweetness of the caramel. He, to my surprise, actually finished his drink before me because it was that good. I am definitely excited to come back and try the other seasonal items that pop up throughout the year. I would also love to try the bit of pastries that were available. Did not do it because we had just eaten a snack and we really wanted to focus on the drinks while we were there. Oh and totally forgot about the Ambiance and the service. Both were just charming is the easiest word to use. The space is small but intimate and very welcoming. The individual that helped us behind the order counter was super helpful, answered all of our questions, and even gave recommendations based on the limited supply that they had for the day as many people had come in for coffee that morning. So again definitely a place to check out.
I'm not sure what took us so long, but we finally made it in to Sun House Cafe. Parking was a bit of a struggle, but well worth it!!!! We didn't have to look at the menu, we went for the Banana Latte and Banana Matcha. The Banana Latte was delicious. The banana Cream on top is the BEST I've ever had! And love the toffee pieces and banana slice on top! Perfect touch! My daughter's Banana Matcha was just as good. The perfect amount of banana. AMAZING! Would love to try the Churro series next but kinda stuck on the banana. Maybe I'll go double fisted next time. 10/10

Two baristas working, which feels like the max for the space. The barista was friendly and soft-spoken. I ordered the iced Churro Latte and Banana Crème Latte. Loved the Churro, well balanced and not overly sweet. My co-worker enjoyed the Banana Crème as well. Both drinks were very aesthetic and I'd come back to try other flavors. Street parking only, park on the street where you can't turn right, you'll have to go around the block. The area has homeless folks, but mornings are quieter. Sun House Cafe is very small with limited seating meant more for waiting than hanging out. 3 stars mainly due to the location and small interior.
Finally got to try the new brick and mortar location! I enjoyed their drinks at a recent popup so I'm excited they have a store front finally. We came at opening so there weren't the long lines that you usually see on weekends! It's a small store but there is some seating if you're lucky. I've had their matcha drinks before so we tried a latte and a hojicha. The banana cream latte was very yummy, on the sweeter side if you like that. I added on banana cream on top of the hojicha and it was a delicious combo! Drank the whole thing nearly right away. Can't wait to try more drinks, hopefully they'll bring some seasonal ones out! read more

Visited on a Sunday in the early afternoon and was pleasantly surprised to find no line. The place was fairly empty--just me, my friend, and another pair of customers. It was a nice change of pace, especially since my friend mentioned that there's usually a line out the door every time she passes by. We were glad to have caught them at a quiet time! I ordered the banana cream matcha latte ($7), and my friend got the mango matcha latte ($7). Our drinks were prepared quickly, and we received them in no time. The banana matcha latte is their current best seller, so I knew I had to try it--and I'm glad I did. The flavors were perfectly balanced: you could clearly taste both the matcha and banana without one overpowering the other. It also wasn't overly sweet, which my taste buds really appreciated. I tried a sip of my friend's mango matcha latte as well. It was good, but not particularly memorable to me. That said, she loved it, so it may just come down to personal preference. What I appreciated most is that you can actually taste the matcha in both drinks. So many places advertise "matcha" just because it's trendy, but end up masking it with so many unnecessary ingredients that the matcha flavor gets lost. Thankfully, this place isn't like that. As for the interior, there's some seating, but it's not the type of café where you'd stay and work on your laptop for hours. It's clean, bright, and cozy--perfect for a quick drink or catching up with a friend. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this spot and would happily come back again! read more
The best thing about this coffee shop are their lattes! I normally don't go for lattes but as soon as I saw they had churro latte I was sold. It's nice hole-in-the-wall local coffee shop in the midtown/downtown area where it's thankfully not too busy. Very clean and nice inside. Their churro latte was 4.5/5 plenty of flavor, good amount of cinnamon BUT the churro was too crunchy. The customer service could be slightly better as I didn't necessarily feel welcomed there for some reason through body language. This spot is very cute and has a good selection of drinks. I believe they're popular for their banana drinks, so I had to good it a try. The banana cream was light and seems like it's made with real banana. The matcha flavor isn't super strong, but it is good with the banana cream. The employees are super nice and made drinks very fast. There's street parking in front of the cafe. I got a Banana matcha and a lemon bar matcha. They were both pretty milky not really tasting matcha or other flavors. It's almost like the matcha could have been stronger and I wish the cream on top was flavorful enough to carry the drink. The banana was more of a hint than the star of the show. A new spot that has opened up on 16th Street in a rather residential/industrial neighborhood. Today, 6/28 is their grand opening weekend and it is extremely popular. The music and vibes definitely give Gen Z, minimalist. Cute live plants decorated a wall. Four benches for seating, and one very small coffee table. A tall side table also serves as a bar near the window facing the street. All light color wood or sleek white metal. An ornate-looking rug below the coffee table. Today was a little warm and there were two standing fans, a ceiling fan at full blast, and an AC wall until above where the staff work. Their staff are all very young, sub-30s. The cashier was friendly and bright. The team of six in a 5x5 foot square seem to work together really well All the drinks are 12 oz and iced. Oat milk was available as a milk substitute. It looks like their espresso machine is nice. Drinks are made using homemade syrups on the side, measured meticulously with a kitchen scale. Offerings: - Iced banana matcha latte - lightly flavored, matcha quality was pretty good, I liked the crunchy toppings and banana chip. Overall, the flavor was a little too light for my taste. - Iced Hojicha latte - good flavor of hojicha. Less gritty texture than other places. Just the right amount of sweetness. read more

this drink was actually incredible. hojicha was perfectly sweet and earthy. the banana cream didn't taste artificial. the blend between the nuttiness flavor and the creamy banana taste was delicious. they have unique seasonal menu items and sell matcha, coffee, and hojicha! would highly rec and return to try other drinks. small inside and no seating except for waiting seating. not really a study spot. street parking only. service was quick and friendly. read more

Always love coming here. Customer service is excellent and drinks are always tasty. I got the peppermint cream matcha and my best friend got the gingerbread chai. Definitely liked the gingerbread chai more, but both were good. Just could've used a little bit more peppermint flavor in mine. The inside is decorated so cute for the holidays and love the plants as always. Be sure to pick up a stamp card from them as well! read more

Their flavor are so creative I've been twice and their holiday menu was just released a week ish ago for winter and so delicious.back in October I got the salted fig soft top on the matcha and literally melted! The inside of the store is cute, but on the smaller side so there is limited seating, especially if it's busy. However, the staff is friendly & get your drinks out quick even when there's a long line. The only downside is it is a bit on the pricey side for coffee/matcha, but the flavors tend to be unique and are always well made & delicious! read more

I ordered the banana matcha and now I have a problem. Like... a real problem. I think about it more than I should. It's perfectly sweet ,not too earthy, not too sugary, just chef's kiss balance. Went here after going to church a couple times now and it just keeps getting better. Our ultimate favorite THE BANANA MATCHA. Flavors and the bits of tiny crunch in there, and the sweetness all just go together so well! This may sound odd to mention, but their ICE is also perfectly easy on the teeth as well and also adds a nice crunch. Will definitely be back!! read more
I got the chai matcha latte with oatmilk. It was excellent. I was nervous to try it and the barista helped me make my decision. I was happy with my decision, it wasn't too cinnamon-ey and the matcha was smooth. It is pricey, more than I would like to pay regularly but I would recommend trying it . The cafe is small, not really anywhere to sit. There's also only street parking and not many options. read more

Finally a solid coffee spot in downtown. Most spots are watered down with milk. Love their seasonal items. Their bakery from a third party independent baker. She does a great job of blending flavors. They also do stamp cards here. I can't wait for stickers and merch!? read more

Matcha can be such a hit or miss but here at Sun house it's definitely a hit. They have a great selection of drinks to choose from. I went with the banana cream matcha and it was delicious! my personal favorite place to get matcha! their banana creme matcha is absolutely perfect & their strawberry matcha has the perfect amount of strawberry to balance out the matcha and not making it overly sweet. sun house cafe can obviously get very busy but they are still very quick and efficient with getting your order out, without ruining & rushing through your order. great staff & very pretty and clean space! read more

Got the espresso cream banana latte. This is really good. The in the foam on top. At first, I didn't taste the banana but that's also because I didn't mix it. Then towards the end, I tasted all the banana foam. This drink is not that sweet which is great. They add some cute banana chips on top and toffee bits. Really like the toffee bits on top. Their other drinks seem pretty good. I think they're more known for the banana matcha. I might try that one next time. Overall, still a really good latte! read more

Cute place, parking was relatively easy to find on a side street. Once we ordered our coffee/matcha the wait wasn't long to receive. The banana items were not overly sweet or overpowering in flavor which was a plus. There are also bakery items and other merchandise for purchase. read more
Tried the banana matcha with no sweetness and it was perfect. Obviously, the drink was sweetened by the cream, but because I asked for no sweetness in the Matcha, it was the perfect balance. I would have given this place five stars if they offered almond milk as an alternative. I almost walked away because I don't do oat milk and regular milk doesn't with me well but I decided to just YOLO and get whole milk. read more
