My current favorite coffee shop in midtown. They have very unique coffee drinks and matcha drinks, and actually do both very well! I feel like most coffee shops only excel in either coffee or matcha, and it's hard to find one that is great at both. My favorite matcha drink here is the mango matcha, the flavor is so tropical, refreshing, and unexpected. Also I love the mango flavored puffs that top the foam. My husband's usual order is the flash brew. The interior is beautifully done, and they always seem to have a new interesting floral arrangement sitting on the counter each week. Since this is a very small space, please be mindful of other customers and share extra stools! Multiple times I have been here and seen folks working on laptops but hogging 1-2 extra chairs just to put their bags/personal belongings on. read more

Wanted to try a new coffee spot where both my coworker and I have never tried. This space was perfect, enough space for us to have a work meeting and have our laptops out. Space is clean and simple, but still decorated enough to feel the vibe. We each ordered the maple bourbon latte. It has orange bitters and maple syrup in it. The foam is a little salty, which we both loved the most! I had it with almond milk and less sweet. I bet it would have been spectacular with whole milk. I ordered the parfait made with Strauss yogurt, delicious! It was packed with oats, nuts and just the right amount of dried cranberries. My coworker had the peach toast with mascarpone on it. Recently visited Concept Coffee for the first time and absolutely loved this new coffee shop in Midtown! I ordered an iced vanilla latte with oatmilk, which was really good. I also ordered the waffle. Oh my goodness, it was better than expected. Can't wait to visit again! Parking is probably the highest part about visiting Concept Coffee. Please make sure to read the street parking signs about clean up days. They do ticket, and saw several cars getting ticketed by parking enforcement. read more

I visited for the first time on a Saturday morning while we were walking around downtown. The business was packed with most of the seats inside taken, as well as people sitting outside the business. When I entered there was a line, and I was happy to have some time to look over their menu before making my selection. Since it was my first visit I opted for one of their Summer Sips menu items. I was between the Sticky Mango Latte ($7) and The Float ($7) and after talking with the friendly barista I opted for The Float. The Float is their house made root beer syrup and a shot of espresso shaken and poured over sparkling water with a vanilla cold foam on top. I was so intrigued and excited to give it a try. Let me tell you, I loved it! It really gives root beer while still being a coffee drink. It was also light and refreshing for the warm Sacramento morning. First time here and ordered one of their signature drinks, the Maple Bourbon Latte. It was a bit too milky for my taste, and I also couldn't really taste much of the maple bourbon flavor. The presentation, though, was simple and beautiful. I did really enjoy the Avocado Toast. They make both the bread and avocado mousse in-house, and the mousse was creamy, fresh, and had a nice citrusy flavor. The presentation was stunning, almost too pretty to eat. Parking can be a bit challenging in the area, but I was lucky enough to find a spot around the corner. I also loved the ambiance of the cafe. The space feels minimalist, open, and inviting. My drink was so refreshing and zesty, but honestly I tried the bourbon latte and it was more up my alley. I like a citrusy taste but in my coffees I like more robust creamy flavors. The location was situated in an area with lots of parking options and I appreciate that. The service was quick and informative about their coffee types. Concept coffee has an incredibly clean and chic storefront. With nice, comfy seating and a friendly staff. The biggest let down is their drinks. The mango matcha was very average and their flash brewed horchata was very acidic. Considering I only tried two of their seasonal drinks I won't say all their drinks are average, but their advertised seasonal drinks were not notable. New coffee shop that opened recently. I am a person who likes to wait for the hype of a new coffee shop to fizzle out a bit before visiting. I came in on a Sunday morning around 9 am. It was moderately busy and there was still plenty of seating. They also have an outdoor patio with plenty of tables and umbrellas for shade. My order was the maple bourbon latte with oat milk and the breakfast sammich. Overheard the employee telling the customer ahead of me that the maple bourbon latte tasted better hot and that validated my choice. Love the interior decor and I give props to the interior designing. It is simple but clean and modern. Reminds me of coffee shops in SoCal or Bay area. The maple bourbon latte was delicious. It is also topped with a dried orange slice and sprinkled with a bit of sea salt. Wasn't expecting the sea salt but it was a nice addition. As the coffee sits, overtime, you'll start to taste the orange. It reminds me of an old fashioned latte. I'll have to get mine half sweet next time. It wasn't overly sweet to the average person but, I like my coffee less sweet than "average". The breakfast sandwich comes with eggs, bacon, fontina cheese and garlic aioli. Wow this sandwich was huge! Didn't look like it but it was quite filling! I liked it but felt like the sandwich was a tiny bit heavy (greasy). I would get it again though because it was a nice treat yourself breakfast. I want to try their other offerings next time. Plant based milk has a $1 up charge which is steep. Given the area and surrounding coffee shops that either have oat milk as a standard or a couple cents, the $1 is still steep. Service was excellent and everyone was friendly and welcoming. Staff informs you that they call out your name for drinks but will walk out the food for you. There's no special bin for you to place your dirty cups or dishes but I've seen staff do clean up after you leave. Overall, great new addition to the Sacramento coffee scene. read more

Since I work 100% from home (such a blessing), it feels like a mini-adventure whenever I make the 15-20 minute drive into the downtown area. Therefore, I was excited when a friend of mine suggested that we meet at Concept Coffee to catch up. Upon arriving I observed that we just missed a rush, so the friendly employee working the register was patiently waiting for us to place our orders. It didn't take me long to spot my drink of choice...Bourbon Maple Latte! Less than five minutes later our drinks were ready. Since it was a nice sunny day (this was following multiple consecutive cloudy days), we decided to walk & sip. I usually don't love ube lattes because they're too sweet, but it was amazing. Big fan of this new coffee shop in downtown! I was surprised but happy to see them so busy already during their first weekend. Their five star average is well-deserved which is hard to do when you first open! The service was great. They were so friendly and bring your food right to your table! The interior is simple and clean. It's a bit small but they do have outdoor seating for those warmer days. We loved all of their food items that we tried - breakfast sammich, avocado toast, and blueberry banana loaf. I can't wait to try the everything bagel once they start offering it! They did such pretty latte art on our hot drinks, and they also actually tasted great! The honey cinnamon was very cinnamon forward, and the bourbon maple does have a hint of orange flavor from the candied dried orange on top, so just something to consider if you are or aren't into those flavor profiles. We have a new contender in the Sacramento coffee arena. Welcome to the Coffeedome! This coffee shop is a joint venture between Kingdom Coffee roasters in Folsom and the chef from Origami & Gami. The use of dark wood and light walls with minimalist furnishings is nice. It makes a good use of the space without it feeling crowded. The staff was extremely nice and upbeat. Like, super upbeat for 7:30am. We ordered 2 shots of espresso using their house bean and their breakfast sandwich. The coffee was an extremely interesting blend (I thought I tasted Ethiopian bean as part of the mix but neglected to ask) and the shots were not only pulled extremely well (look at the crema on the top from the pic I posted), but it was also the perfect temperature. A very enjoyable shot. So now that leads us to the breakfast sandwich. I think that the chef must have gone around to the various breakfast sandwich hot spots and sampled their competitors to see where improvements could be made. I'll argue that Camellia is the current reigning champ. But their bun is a bit crumbly. The bacon on their bacon sandwich could be a bit easier to eat. Concept gets all of this right. They use a fine dice of chive instead of green onion, the bacon is the right cook and thickness, and the bun is not crumbly. I dare say this is the new reigning champ as long as they can keep up the quality. Concept is an excellent new coffee place that can stand toe to toe with all of the existing Sacramento greats. Im currently obsessed with their Milk & Honey cold brew. It's the perfect balance of cold brew and sweetness from the honey. I first came on a Sunday afternoon it was a little stuffy inside and parking wasn't convenient. I came back Monday and it was so much better, maybe suggest to come on a weekday! Came around 10am on grand opening day and it was packed. Good to see that all the pastries and syrups were made in house. Drinks are not too sweet and coffee forward, which I like. The waffle and avocado toast was really good too and I highly recommend bringing a friend so you can order both to share. Loved the thinly sliced radish, kumquats, and microgreens on the avocado toast. The waffle with butter was good. The pastry case was looking amazing, but it was too early for a s'mores cookie. I look forward to returning soon and trying more of what Concept Coffee has to offer. Fair warning, drinks and food took awhile to come out today, so you'll have to be patient. Very cute but small space (so no stroller inside) unless you plan to bundle up and sit outside. Open everyday from 7am to 4pm. The Crown Jewel roast delivered clarity and depth without any bitterness muddying the experience. Bright but controlled, smooth with a clean finish that lingered just long enough. You could taste the quality of the bean, and more importantly, you could tell it was brewed to let that quality speak Avocado toast (3.5/5): There's a great idea here. The avocado mousse was silky and well seasoned on its own, and the kumquat brought a sharp citrus note that gave the whole dish personality. But it needed salt. Just a touch more would have pulled everything into focus. The bigger miss was the bread. It felt warmed rather than toasted, which killed the crunch and structural contrast. And with avocado toast, texture is not optional. It's the backbone. Strong concept, solid ingredients, but a few small adjustments would have made it memorable read more

I asked if they can make it less sweet and they understood the assignment. They add flakes of salt on top of the coffee and it actually goes SO well together. This place is lovely. I tried the Flash Brew which is there brighter take on a cold brew; it was absolutely delicious. They also have one of the best coffee cakes I've ever tasted and I was aggressively eyeballing some cookies that had just come out from the back. Nice indoor space with ample seating out front. The Bourbon Maple Latte is AMAZING! The flavor is not too strong and has the perfect amount of maple sweetness to compliment the coffee. The drink is topped with a pinch sea salt which compliments the flavors well. The latte art looked like a white blob. Service was great. The employee was very friendly and pleasant. I noticed she added a pinch of sea salt to the drink without washing her hands after also serving as the cashier so their lack of cleanliness is concerning. Not too large and not too small of a space. That day there was only one worker, so we waited a few minutes before ordering. We ended up ordering a Bourbon Maple Latte. Both hot and iced. And a hot Cocoa drink. Unfortunately, the Bourbon Maple Latte was underwhelming. It tasted like it was watered down or something? Maybe too much cream/milk? I wasn't able to taste the coffee. this place was packed on Easter Sunday for a reason. they were speedy in making their drinks. Loved all their seasonal drink items. Decided to go with the seasonal spritz. It was a perfect amount of sweet and citrus. The sliced fruit on top was a nice touch. i loved the sparkling soda in it as well. The blueberry muffin was really nice. I feel like a lot of times with blueberry muffins they're super dry, but that was not the case. I wanna go back and try the coffee and their toast, as it looks like they had some fun ones. read more

This is the newest coffee spot in sac and overall, I'd say it's decent. They have a lot of interesting drinks that have a new spin on coffee drinks. Their food (which we didn't try) looks really good though so I think I'd return to try that. Inside is small, so I think coming early is best to get a table if you want to sit inside. It was awkward standing and waiting for our drinks because of how the shop is laid out and how cramped it is in there. The drinks themselves were alright, I think I got the wrong thing. I ventured outside my comfort zone and got the bourbon maple latte half sweet, which didn't have any maple flavor but had salt chunks in it? Very surprising and wasn't my favorite. My sister got an iced cappuccino, which they just added less milk than a latte but didn't bother frothing the milk at all. My other sister got the spring special espresso tonic, which she said was delicious. All of their baked items in the case looked delicious and homemade. We tried the snickerdoodle cookie which has the texture more of a cake, but it was still very tasty. I think if I return, I would try just their plain latte to really get a gauge of how good their espresso is compared to the many other options in sac. Parking was a bit difficult with the recent rain but it was worth hopping over puddles for fantastic coffee and food. I especially loved the Yuzu seasonal drink. Service was good, tables and scenery were spacious and clean, and the large windows give you plenty to appreciate outside. Foodwise; "The King" was a hit though I do wish it had a fruity and tart element to balance out the fat of the peanut butter and bacon. Tried Concept out for the first time yesterday with a friend! Let's start with coffee and food. I got the ube latte and while it was good, I wouldn't say it's stands out. If you're looking for a good ube latte, I'd recommend 18 Grams. However, they did have some great looking drinks so I'm looking forward to coming again. I also got their cinnamon roll to eat and wow! THAT was great! Perfect amount of frosting, soft layers, not overly sweet. Would definitely go back for that. Seating is on the smaller side with both indoor and outdoor spaces. I usually have my kiddo in a stroller with me so I'm always considering space. We were able to find a nice spot inside to sit though. Service was okay. I'm used to baristas being a bit more welcoming and engaging. They were more on the quieter side here, not rude by any means. Just something I noticed. This is coffee shop next door. Concept is nailing it right now. The Papua New Guinea drip I had was light and smelled great last week. The Wi-Fi is also noticeably faster from the first few weeks they opened. All of the staff are quite kind and well informed.
