I love matcha. And so when I heard of a spot known for its matcha I had high hopes. I heard so many good things about this place, and even when I was waiting in the long line literally everyone around me was walking out or holding one. I decided to get just a normal (not the twice) matcha so I could judge the quality of the drink for myself without the extra sugar and whipping cream masking everything (that's how I judge if a matcha is actually good, not just loaded). I figured if this place was really as good as they say, then their standard, basic matcha would be good, too. Unfortunately, when I tasted it, I was really disappointed by how watered down the drink was, it was surprisingly light in color, and there was an odd aftertaste (from the milk or matcha or both? Not sure). The syrup itself was good but that was about the only thing saving the drink. After a while I just couldn't get myself to keep drinking it. Wanted to try this place because of the YouTube channel, Feed MeiMei. The Cold Brew with Hojicha Foam was delicious and was described perfectly by our front girl. The Black Sesame French Toast was fantastic! We also got the Date-Orange Latte and the Salted Honey Lavender Latte, both tasted great! Our three drinks took less than 10 minutes, and I think the French Toast took exactly ten minutes. Not long at all, and it was busy when we were there(11am). My order was to-go, and they were all perfectly packaged! I so appreciate the front girl answering all my silly questions, the efficiency of the team, getting to watch the man in the kitchen do his work, and the clean and inviting presence of the place. My daughter brought in her baby milk and spilt some, only for one of the guys to clean it up quickly. I so appreciate you guys!! Stumbled upon this cafe and decided to give it a try on the way back to the Bay Area and thought it was pretty good! I got a hot matcha latte with oat milk and agave, and I also asked for it to be made extra hot. I would have preferred for my drink to be a bit hotter, but I think I've learned my drink temperature preference may be unattainable since I can't seem to get it at any cafe, so I won't fault them on that. The agave sweetened the drink up without overpowering, but I do wish the matcha flavor was a bit stronger. It's a really cute, aesthetic place with a good handful of seating. They don't want a line blocking the door so they make you wait outside until there's space. I got to order my drink while waiting in line pretty quick. I finally stopped by Offbeat Coffee. I've heard amazing things, but would always pass by on their closed days. I had a rare day off and made it a point to stop in to try them out. They have a parking lot but it's shared with other businesses and always seems to be full, however there's a good amount of street parking and I found a spot closeby no problem. When I walked in it was a lot bigger than I expected and they had a good amount of seating. There wasn't a line when I arrived, but that quickly changed after I placed my order and I feel like there was a steady stream of customers the whole time I was there. I was welcomed in and when I let them know it was my first time they recommended some items for me. I'm not a matcha fan, so I was more interested in trying their coffee. I ordered their date orange latte ($7), the twice hojicha ($7.50), and their simple avocado toast ($9). I had heard hojicha is a less grassy, more earthy/toasty version of matcha so I was excited to give it a try and see if I liked it more than matcha. Good news! Hojicha, at least the twice hojicha from Offbeat was delicious. I enjoyed the taste of tea and the aftertaste that matcha usually has for me wasn't there. I would 100% order this again. The date orange latte (iced) was also delicious and the flavors were perfect for our warm weather. The simple avocado toast had a thick piece of fresh baked bread with a generous layer of avocado on top. I don't frequently order avocado toast but it paired well with the drinks and is a great meal to start the day. I came to Offbest with 2 friends around 10:30am on a Saturday and there was a line to the door. The line moved relatively quickly and I got my drink, the twice matcha not too long after I ordered. Service was quick and the interior was very spacious and open with slightly industrial vibes, with a few chairs and tables scattered around. We were lucky to grab a table and 3 chairs and enjoyed our drinks there for a bit. The matcha foam gave the drinks a rich velvety, almost buttery texture, and the matcha itself was a lightly sweet, powdery matcha with a light vegetal fresh corn note. I've been wanting to try the matcha drinks at Offbeat for a while and found myself nearby so stopped in. First, the pros: Matcha latte was delicious and clearly high grade. My drink wasnt too sweet which I prefer. The hojicha latte was great as well! You don't see this often if at all so it was a pleasant surprise. The service was friendly and they were patient when I had questions on the standard vs the "twice" drinks. They have a shared parking lot which helps as they are off a busy stretch of road. The cons: They do not have size options for their beverages. Which for the most part isn't an issue except when I wanted a large drink. Which is why I bought 2. They partnered with Pastry Cat and unfortunately the common theme was they never had pastries even in 9am window. Not their fault but maybe partnering with a patisserie that offers consistent inventory might be worthwhile? The ambience is less "come and enjoy your drink" and more "we don't have enough seating"and use the space efficiently. I think if they update the layout of the tables and chairs, it would feel more inviting to sit for a bit or meet up with friends. The parking lot. It's terrible, crowded and people don't know how to park. I saw a couple of cars almost back into eachother while waiting and I was grateful I parked on the street and walked. Overall, the quality of the drinks and the friendliness are great and that receives 4 stars. If you want a quality matcha drink then give them a try. But I have access to other cafes that meet my needs; enough that Offbeat will be more of an off the beaten path option than a regular one. read more

Inside, was a very spacious modern vibed coffee shop, that appeared to really focus on their Matcha & Hojicha (Green tea) style drinks. Match really isn't my thing but my girlfriend loves it, but because it was the late morning. We both opted for coffee specific drinks and ordered Latte's, hers hot and mine iced. When ordering, I specially asked for a Vanilla option as flavors weren't noted on the large menu by the counter, and I didn't want that to be forgotten. My girlfriend however wasn't asked for a flavor option, and she forgot to mention Vanilla as well so her was made as a standard Latte. She noted while there wasn't extra flavor, she could tell they used good coffee beans by the flavor profile of her Latte. Mine looked like a basic Vanilla Latte, and didn't look or taste like anything special unfortunately. Wasn't it bad? No. Was it good? I'd say it was just ok. NOTE: They do NOT accept cash. As we completed our order I went to pull out cash from my wallet, and the cashier asked if I had another form of payment because they don't accept cash. I find is odd that an establishment for any reason doesn't take legal tender, Overall: The line was out the door, and the drinks were ordered wasn't anything out of the ordinary; at least my iced Latte wasn't.
