Stumbled upon this cafe and decided to give it a try on the way back to the Bay Area and thought it was pretty good! I got a hot matcha latte with oat milk and agave, and I also asked for it to be made extra hot. I would have preferred for my drink to be a bit hotter, but I think I've learned my drink temperature preference may be unattainable since I can't seem to get it at any cafe, so I won't fault them on that. The agave sweetened the drink up without overpowering, but I do wish the matcha flavor was a bit stronger. It's a really cute, aesthetic place with a good handful of seating. I could definitely see this being a cool space to get some work done or chat with friends. The workers were also really friendly and answered all the questions we had about their menus. Solid spot for matcha!

Offbeat is surprisingly spacious in the corner of a small plaza. As a result, parking is a bit iffy, but besides that, the cafe itself is really nice! We both got a twice matcha, mine with just normal whole milk and hers with oat milk. I personally really liked mine, and the matcha foam helped add some sweetness to the earthy matcha itself, which balanced it out very well!
Inject that Twice Hojicha latte right into me right now! The husband and I spontaneously stopped by for a morning drink and were pleasantly surprised by how unique this spot was! Their menu is simple, yet complex (in the best way possible). There are coffee drinks and tea drinks (matcha and hojicha). If you've never had hojicha, this is the place for a new morning tea drink! Previously, I've only had hojicha in Napa at the Oxbow, so it's not the easiest to come by. If I could describe hojicha, it would be matcha's earthier, non-grassy cousin. Love, love LOVE it. If you like matcha, you'll like hojicha. I opted for the Twice Hojicha and I could literally drink that everyday. The cream top hit the spot! Smooth and creamy. You HAVE to try it. 10/10 roll would recommend.
I finally stopped by Offbeat Coffee. I've heard amazing things, but would always pass by on their closed days. I had a rare day off and made it a point to stop in to try them out. They have a parking lot but it's shared with other businesses and always seems to be full, however there's a good amount of street parking and I found a spot closeby no problem. When I walked in it was a lot bigger than I expected and they had a good amount of seating. There wasn't a line when I arrived, but that quickly changed after I placed my order and I feel like there was a steady stream of customers the whole time I was there. I was welcomed in and when I let them know it was my first time they recommended some items for me. I'm not a matcha fan, so I was more interested in trying their coffee. I ordered their date orange latte ($7), the twice hojicha ($7.50), and their simple avocado toast ($9). I had heard hojicha is a less grassy, more earthy/toasty version of matcha so I was excited to give it a try and see if I liked it more than matcha. Good news! Hojicha, at least the twice hojicha from Offbeat was delicious. I enjoyed the taste of tea and the aftertaste that matcha usually has for me wasn't there. I would 100% order this again. The date orange latte (iced) was also delicious and the flavors were perfect for our warm weather. The simple avocado toast had a thick piece of fresh baked bread with a generous layer of avocado on top. I don't frequently order avocado toast but it paired well with the drinks and is a great meal to start the day. I can see why this is a favorite for so many people and now that I've finally been in, I'll be back for more!
The workers here are always so lovely! Offbeat is hands down my favorite place to get matcha in Sac. Their Twice Matcha with oat milk is my go-to. I love the matcha cream top and how its sweetness pairs perfectly with the slight bitterness of the matcha. Once it's mixed together, it balances out so well. Always a vibe here! Incredible! I've had a lot of matcha in my days and make my own at home.. I'm tempted to say this is the best I've ever had. My husband picked up some matcha here for me, and we each got the Twice Matcha with oat milk. He mentioned that the staff was very friendly and the decor inside was modern and clean. As for the drinks, they were a little too sweet for our taste, but it was still a very solid matcha. While it might not be the absolute best we've ever had, it's a good spot overall.

We ordered the Twice Matcha and BSL. Twice Matcha (Matcha latte + matcha creamtop) (iced only, all creamtops made with dairy, recommended to sip without a straw!) BSL (Espresso house-made banana bread syrup, banana chip garnish, cinnamon, whole milk, hot/iced) The matcha was smooth and matcha foam delish! The BSL was tasty but not very strong banana flavor and coffee wasn't very strong either.
Arrived and the line was out the door. We almost turned around but decided to still give it as try as my girlfriend had heard about this place, and wanted to see what it was about. The line moved pretty quickly from outside to a smaller line indoors. Inside, was a very spacious modern vibed coffee shop, that appeared to really focus on their Matcha & Hojicha (Green tea) style drinks. Match really isn't my thing but my girlfriend loves it, but because it was the late morning. We both opted for coffee specific drinks and ordered Latte's, hers hot and mine iced. When ordering, I specially asked for a Vanilla option as flavors weren't noted on the large menu by the counter, and I didn't want that to be forgotten. My girlfriend however wasn't asked for a flavor option, and she forgot to mention Vanilla as well so her was made as a standard Latte. She noted while there wasn't extra flavor, she could tell they used good coffee beans by the flavor profile of her Latte. Mine looked like a basic Vanilla Latte, and didn't look or taste like anything special unfortunately. Wasn't it bad? No. Was it good? I'd say it was just ok. NOTE: They do NOT accept cash. As we completed our order I went to pull out cash from my wallet, and the cashier asked if I had another form of payment because they don't accept cash. I find is odd that an establishment for any reason doesn't take legal tender, Overall: The line was out the door, and the drinks were ordered wasn't anything out of the ordinary; at least my iced Latte wasn't. And add in the fact they don't accept cash, I wouldn't go out of my way to try this coffee spot out again unfortunately.
Offbeat is a great local spot to check out if you are in Sacramento or visiting from out of town. During the week I notice their lines are much shorter so if you can stop by during the week if you want to avoid a long line. I'm really glad that they don't charge you extra depending on your milk choice. My favorite drink to order is their twice matcha, it's a matcha latte with matcha foam on top. It's smooth and has the perfect amount of sweetness plus they add the perfect amount of ice to their drinks so you get your moneys worth for your drink. The staff are incredibly friendly and personable too. 10/10 stop by offbeat if you haven't already!!

Wanted to try this place because of the YouTube channel, Feed MeiMei. The Cold Brew with Hojicha Foam was delicious and was described perfectly by our front girl. The Black Sesame French Toast was fantastic! We also got the Date-Orange Latte and the Salted Honey Lavender Latte, both tasted great! Our three drinks took less than 10 minutes, and I think the French Toast took exactly ten minutes. Not long at all, and it was busy when we were there(11am). My order was to-go, and they were all perfectly packaged! I so appreciate the front girl answering all my silly questions, the efficiency of the team, getting to watch the man in the kitchen do his work, and the clean and inviting presence of the place. My daughter brought in her baby milk and spilt some, only for one of the guys to clean it up quickly. I so appreciate you guys!! There was a challenge, as I also spoke with the front girl about, but parking is competitive. All the parking spots were taken. Some parking spots were reserved for the neighboring businesses, so I found parking on the roadside. Is it possible to expand the parking lot? It's tough to give patronage to this great business with this challenge. I suppose it's a good problem to have when many people want to come here ;) read more

I finally got to try this spot after seeing it all over TikTok! The interior was pretty busy; although the shop was spacious with lots of tables and seating, most were full with students studying and friends catching up. There was a line when I arrived, but it moved pretty quickly. As recommended by many, I ordered the Twice Matcha (sub oat milk for free), which came out quickly. It was pretty with a lovely green color. As to the taste--I can tell it's good quality matcha! The cream top is a bit thick (almost overpowering?), which makes it hard to figure out how to drink it, but Offbeat def sets the bar higher for matcha in the Sacramento area :) Descriptors that come to mind: slightly grainy, but strong and earthy Worth a try! It's still busy so go earlier than you need to account for time spent parking and waiting! read more

Highly recommend this spot. I tried the twice hojicha with whole milk and asked to make it extra sweet. So good! The creamtop is addicting! Will definitely come here again when I'm in the area next time to get my hojicha fix. read more

Good prices for quality products. Their building is gorgeous and the seating is very cute. Not a lot of it though. Fast service and nice employees. Definitely must try their Double Hojicha and Double Matcha! read more
This is my favorite matcha spot in Sacramento. Between their incredibly kind staff, open seating, and amazingly crafted drinks I look forward to all my visits and lick my cups clean. The double matcha is to die for and I rarely drink my calories. I love their cold brew with hojicha read more
Delicious matcha! You can taste the matcha and it wasn't so strong where you're having palpitations. It was perfectly sweetened too. There was a line when we arrived around 11am on a Sunday, but the line went fairly fast. Large space for catching up with friends or studying/working. It's a couple of blocks from the farmers market too, so you can always grab a drink then walk to the farmers market. Highly recommend. read more
Good location. High unfinished ceilings and beige decor. Chairs a little wobbly when you first sit. Spacious area for studying but we just dropped by and left when we got our drinks so not sure if the WiFi or anything is good. Drink wasn't very sweet but very creamy. read more
horrible parking. great drinks. good luck getting parking with the amount of horrible drivers here... once you do get past the parking, the stress it worth it. the drinks were so yummy. around noon time, we waited in a short line and get our drinks quickly. beware of seating though. lots of seating but you can get your seat taken the moment you stand up and people aren't kind about it.... the workers however are so kind. answered questions kindly and also were fun to chat with. great customer service. the drinks were yummy! i wanted to do a hojicha latte with a matcha cream top but unfortunately they don't do that :( the twice matcha was still super yummy. not super astringent and super creamy. i wish i tried the hojicha too... the iced mocha was good. you can tell they use actual chocolate and not just a mocha sauce. it's a little gritty but still delicious. overall would give this place a 4.5 but we round up on yelp :D read more

Hands down one of the best matcha I've had. Both times that I've gone I've ordered the twice matcha and it leaves me wanting more every time. It is the perfect balance of sweetness and nuttiness. And the cold foam on top is delicious. As far as the coffee goes, it is pretty solid. I don't think it stood out to me, but it wasn't bad. I will be coming back every time I visit the Sac area! read more
Came to Offbeat Coffee to catch up with a friend and we definitely picked a good spot! We went on a Wednesday afternoon and it was pretty busy, lots of people studying and working which made it feel like such a great place to focus. The ambiance is super nice and calming, and the café itself is actually really spacious, which feels kind of rare for coffee spots like this. My friend and I both ordered the twice matcha and dang... it was SO good. It wasn't overly sweet and the matcha flavor was strong, exactly how I like it. You can tell they really perfected this drink and I loved every sip. I will say the drink sizes are a bit smaller than what I'm used to for the price, but honestly it still felt worth it. Overall, I'd definitely come back and I'm excited to try more of their drinks next time! read more
I'm a matcha girly period. So, of course, my best friend knows this and is always down. She recommended we grab matcha at Offbeat since I was visiting her, and I'm glad we did! The lines here can be long! Lots of other matcha girlys are waiting for their fix. So don't be shook when you see how long it is cause it moves somewhat fast. Once inside, the vibes give off a modern yet minimal aesthetic. It's an open space, perfect for gathering with friends. However, we did see some people working there too! The service was kind, and the drinks came out quite fast. My best friend and I both got the BSL. I got mine iced and with oat milk. The matcha was great--earthy, vibrant, and delicious. The banana was present yet not overpowering, and the cinnamon added a nice touch. Definitely an aesthetic and tasty drink! For Sac standards, we agreed this is a great option. But being from the Bay, I was comparing it and felt like it was simply good, nothing crazy. For those in Sac and lovers of matcha, Offbeat Coffee is worth a visit. I want to come back if I'm back in Sac! They have free parking in the shared lot out front and are located off Broadway. read more

I highly recommend checking out this spot if you're in the area! Parking is very limited. To help manage the crowds, most of the line waits outside until there's enough room for customers to stand inside. The cafe itself is spacious, filled with natural light, and offering plenty of seating. While the menu is fairly small, the drinks are excellent. We ordered the Twice Matcha, and the matcha cream top was delicious. It was rich, flavorful, and complemented the matcha perfectly. This is easily one of the better matcha drinks I've had recently. I personally like mixing the cream top into the matcha, which creates a smooth, creamy, and incredibly flavorful drink. Ordering was quick and easy, and our drinks were prepared in no time. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. I wish I was closer to the area to try the rest of the menu! If you're a matcha lover I highly recommend giving this place a try! read more

this matcha tastes luxurious. i had the twice matcha, and im glad i went with this. i did add lavender, so it was the perfect amount of sweetness with the matcha foam. large space. shoutout to the workers at the barbershop next door for watching my neighbor's bike i was using. there is a rage room in the same parking lot, so you can get your anger out and then get a matcha to celebrate. read more
Been coming here countless Saturdays since they opened. At first I would come for the pastry cat pop up on Saturdays, but then discovered they have some of the best twice matcha and twice Hojicha in town. Then once they started coming coming out with specials like the banana pudding matcha, BSL, black sesame Hojicha...it really got me coming back almost every week. This is where I like to bring friends with kids or babies because they have a lot of space for strollers and such. Only downside is that they do not have a changing table in the bathroom. read more
The first time I went here, I loved the matcha. I personally like a little more agave in my matchas, but that's more of a preference than a critique to Offbeat. However, there's a specific cashier that I've ordered with multiple times who's always a little annoyed or mean to me? It's super odd considering everyone else there seems happy. The last time I went, I ordered my drink with a non dairy milk and when I went to drink it, I could tell immediately it was dairy. I went up to ask if I could verify the drink was made with the milk I ordered, and the staff member just looked at the ipad order history and said 'you ordered it with oat' which obviously does not mean that it was made with oat. He didn't offer to remake it or check with the person who made the drink, so I literally ended up throwing it away because I didn't enjoy the taste. read more
Offbeat coffee was so chill and really tasty. - I got an oatmilk Cap and this was my first visit of 2026 to a cafe! It was refreshing at it was the start of January but also because how simple and thoughtful this place is put together. Even the retail bags are very well thought out. Nothing is crammed in your face. Love the insect vibe here and cuts cuteness. Looking forward to another visit! read more

came on a weekday so there's less/no wait vs the weekend, which the like can go out the door! got a double matcha (matcha latte with matcha foam), it was perfect!! didn't add any extra sugar since the cream top is sweet so that mixed in well with the latte. you can taste the matcha and richness of the cream. definitely getting that again! also got the cold brew + hojicha top and my husband really liked it! the foam was very tasty and added the perfect sweetness to the brew. parking is limited but there's street parking. there's seating and tables inside. would return & recommend. read more
Offbeat Coffee came highly recommended by fellow Yelpers when I was searching for a solid matcha stop in Sac. It was just what I needed. I'm slowly switching from coffee to matcha, so this was an easy choice while in town for conference. Parking is the only downside. The lot is tiny with very small spaces shared by multiple businesses, so be prepared. I mean SMALL. Dare I say lean. The matcha itself was good, sweetened with agave for a small up charge of $0.50, and oat milk was available. I skipped the seasonal banana matcha and went classic, but the space inside is roomy and comfortable with bar and table seating. I'll likely stop back for another matcha on my way out of Sac since it's hard to beat the consistency and strong reviews. read more
The matcha here is smooth, rich, and not overly sweet (unless you request for syrup). The twice matcha was pretty good but I only have 4/5 stars because the rest was just okay. This cafe does get busy so I recommend coming early if you want to beat the line but other than that, the lines moves pretty fast eventually. Parking could be a hassle because the parking lot is small but there is lots of street parking right next to the building. read more
Met up with a friend for a catch up matcha. And boy I was not expecting the line. I didnt realize how popular it was. But the banana hojicha latte was ammmmmaaaaaazing. There is a good amount t of seating inside but it's not huge. Quite a few people seemed to be working there so you may or may not get lucky with seats freeing up. The parking lot is super packed but I somehow got lucky and snagged a spot. They also have pastries there, seems like another vendor that sells inside separately from Offbeat. If you are just getting pastries you can skip the coffee line and go straight in and order pastries separately. read more
