Jerry is vague, advised me against keeping books and has made decisions which caused my business to be in poor standing with the FTB. I started off so well with this company but their service has fallen dramatically, Finally with a last minute proposed tax prep fee increase of 50% I had enough. This was my third year doing my taxes with Sun Kap. The first year was at the start of the pandemic in 2020 with Daniel, no problems. Last year, also with Daniel, again virtual appointment and again no problem. This year, I emailed to make an appointment the first week of February, got an email back saying that Daniel was no longer with the company and that they had booked us with another one of their accountants, Wayne, for a virtual appointment on March 15th, and they said they would send us a video link for the appointment a few days prior to the appointment. I hadnt heard from them, so the Friday before I email to follow up, no response. I email the two days before, no response. I email the day before, I get a reply at 6:45 PM that they will send the link for our 10AM appointment before they left the office. Surprise surprise, no link arrived. The next day I have a meeting in office at work, so I cannot attend this appointment, (which i knew ahead of time but considering the wait we had getting this appointment I wasnt going to try to reschedule.) but my husband is off and is planning to attend the appointment if he is ever sent a link. At 10:15 AM I finally get a response from them that we have "missed our appointment, so it was rescheduled for 2:00PM that day." My husband gets in touch with the office and ends up getting to meet with Wayne virtually and they go over everything together. Wayne tells him that he still wants to go over the details with me before he finalizes everything, so he will come to the meeting room at 2:00 and wait for me. At 2:00 I log in to the virtual meeting, and I wait for an hour. I emailed several times during this hour and got no response. My husband trued to call the office for me, also got no reply. I emailed and called several times over the next few days trying to get in contact with Wayne, but he never replied to any of my calls or emails. They initially told my husband that we needed to just pay our invoice and sign the documents digitally so they could file things a few days later when he magically got in touch with someone. Then, after multiple attempts to reach them to try and get said invoice, we finally get it on March 28th, 13 DAYS after our initial appointment. Which I promptly paid as I was anxious to get this rolling so we could get our refund. However, it is now April 10, my husband and I havent signed anything, meaning there is no way they could have filed our documents without our signatures. I have called and emailed, and no one is replying to me or returning my calls. It has been A MONTH and I have no evidence that anything is moving. Tax day is a week from now, and my appointment was a month ago. My taxes should have been filed already. If there were questions they needed answered from me then they could have responded to any one of my phone calls or emails. Seriously disappointed in their lack of concern or regard for their customer. We will not be returning. read more

I've done my taxes here for the last 5 years or so . Their service or maybe the person that attempted to was not good at all . When I asked a question she was dismissive and you would think that I owe her money .I was calling to get an appointment and ended up getting an bothered employee. Waste of time, Daniel doesn't respond to emails, phone calls or messages. I would rethink using Sun-Kap Enterprises if you're looking at getting your taxes done. Was a customer until there was an issue with my tax return and they did not resolve the issue that led to a delinquent penalty. Daniel mailed in my 2017 tax return and the franchise tax board claim they didn't receive it. Daniel sent a copy of the certified mail but it still wasn't resolved and I was hit with a delinquent penalty plus interest that was roughly $1,400. When I pressed Daniel to fix the issue and if he wasn't able to fix it, the company should be liable for the fees. Daniel's response was I helped you saved money and that I should find another person to do the tax returns. I called the office and asked to speak to the manager but never received a call back. read more

This place gives terrible service to clients, especially David. I have twice requested a corrected income statement due to a hiccup with my W-2. It's now been a pending issue for four months, and he has yet to produce the document. Yes, four months have passed, and still nothing, haven't received a phone call, nor an email, nothing. No acknowledgement whatsoever. Fast forward to July 16th, I emailed David again, requesting said document, and still nothing. He hasn't called, nor acknowledged my email. Just filed my taxes and I am extremely happy with the service I received from Jeremiah. The fee was a bit pricey compared to my prior CPA, but the service was also supreme! So not long after i posted this review, Zech called me back !!! He explained whats going on and apologized for he has been busy during tax season. He also offered a free tax filing next year if we decided to come back. Honestly, I am not sure if I am going to come back to him. This experience really turned me off. If you are going to file tax with them, make sure you have all the documents. Otherwise, do not pay in advance, have them bill you after they complete your tax filing. I know this is way late, but I forgot to mention that they actually refunded the fee because of all this inconvenient. I have to admit, great customer service!. read more

Horrible service and experience. Made appointment with Wayne only to be told--very rudely--that he wouldn't help us because we "cancelled" two appointments. We actually persisted to reschedule an appointment after not receiving returned calls. I had met with him once and everything seemed fine. Then, we had to reschedule--not cancel-- the next appointment because my wife started working. After driving almost an hour to our rescheduled appointment, he told us I'm not providing you services because you cancelled twice. I told him he was rude and he turned his back on us. It was shocking. He was rude and condescending. I'm just glad we found out the way they (or perhaps just this person) treat people before we entered a real contract for financial services. read more

Horrible service, bad financial advice. Wayne was recommended by a friend, made an appointment to see Jeremiah, Wayne was on vacation. When I spoke with Wayne about my investments, he gave me really bad advice, told me to sell my stocks, and he would help me after the election reshape my 401K into higher dividend paying funds. Had a hard time getting a hold of Wayne to research his investment ideas, Wayne forgot his advice, told me to talk to my financial advisor.
