I haven't visited in a while and I was in the area so I stopped in for lunch on a Friday around 12:30 and it wasn't crowded at all. There's plenty of bench seats inside and outside and they have high top seats in the bar area. There is a wide variety of beers to choose from. I usually get the Orange Vanilla Cream Ale which tastes like a creamsicle to me but I wanted to try something different so I asked the bartender and he suggested I get the Hoops There It Is. It did not disappoint, it's light and I love the peach flavor and I will definitely get it again. I also ordered food from Nacho. I got the chicken bowl which was loaded. Didn't look ascetic but it was very good and filling. I only ate half and took the rest home. read more

I like this location specifically for trivia night. It's a fun environment and cool to see them bottling when the cans move along the conveyer belt. They have an outdoor patio. The location is easy to access--right off the freeway exit. They have a boozy Strawberry Lemonade Slushy that's delicious. Also THC beverages. The nachos are pretty good too! Sometimes it's easier to order at the bar instead of waiting for server to come over especially during trivia. read more

I've interacted with Sun King in so many ways (events, visiting multiple locations, brewery tours, etc.) and I've never once been disappointed. I'm a huge fan of Sun King! Fantastic beer - I've visited over 50 local breweries and Sun King is always top of my recommendation list. Amazing staff - everyone has always been friendly and accommodating. Incredible spaces - every location has something different to offer but I love the original. When the weather is nice, sitting on their patio is one of my favorite things. Wow! What a fun place! So good we went twice during our trip! Noelle and McKenzie were awesome as well as all staff! Greeted when we were arrived and surprised at how large this place was. There are so many beers to choose from and fans of their Sunrise Pachanga, Orange Cream & After Dark were outstanding but you can't go wrong with what you select! Sun King Brewery - one of the OGs of the Indianapolis beer scene. They had a collaboration fest that caused what seemed to be nearly all attendees of the conference to flock to the taproom. They weren't doing small pours, so I sadly couldn't try all too much. But I was able to try two of the collaborations, including one that ended up medaling at the World Beer Cup! I also enjoyed some Nachos that were out of this world. Amalfi: An Ale brewed in collaboration between Sun King Brewery and @lostabbey .. It was aged in Gin, Port Wine, and Orange Bitters Barrels. This was one complex beer. You get spicy notes, some citrus, some deep dark berry notes. Every sip led you down a different road of flavors that made it hard to pinpoint anything other than damn tasty. 3-Wheeled Stingray: A Bock brewed in collaboration between Sun King Brewery and @sierranevada .. The Bock was aged in Gin, Absinthe, and Orange Liqueur Barrels. Complex? Check. Interesting? Check. One of a kind? Check. read more

Walked in and we were greeted by the gentleman sitting at the register. We sat on the patio and had table side service, so no need for us to head over to the bar at all. Sun King is a pretty solid brewery. It has the feeling of one of the first major craft breweries in Indy. There were lots of beers on tap, everything from hazies to stouts to lagers and back again. Nothing I had on tap blew away, but everything was definitely good! I wish they had a Cold IPA or West Coast Pils. They had a really cool nacho pop-up inside that made me wish I were hungry. read more

One of the best parts is the large parking lot, which is free to park in-- a great perk compared to many spots in downtown Indy that require you to pay a parking meter. Upon entering, you'll be greeted by friendly staff who offer the choice of sitting at the bar or at a table with service. We chose to sit at a table with service. Where are my Cold Brew Coffee Drinkers??? This is soooooo good?! Typically a stout is Heavy & so filling & I can't drink it. This is much lighter & smooth. Almost like drinking a nitro cold brew from your local coffee shop- without the nitro & adding some beer! Service is always great here . This is where Sun King started right off of N. College Avenue. Sun King is everywhere now and that's a good thing. The inside is as you would think. A brewery actively making more and more cans. They have six locations in Indiana and one in Sarasota, Florida. I've tried the pineapple and strawberry Pachanagrita's those are great! I'm so glad they have Nacho by La Margarita! Oh my those nachos are delicious. A fresh sheet pan made to order of either chicken, chorizo, or black bean salsa nachos. They use a Sunlight Cream Ale Queso on them. They also collect pop, beer, and water tabs for Ronald McDonald House Charities. So, instead of throwing them away save them and bring them in. A pachanagrita and nachos is on the horizon! read more

Sun King Brewery I have been wanting to try for a very, very long time. With some struggle (it's a long story) the opportunity finally reached fruition and Steve and I finally got the chance to try their beer. We weren't disappointed and we enjoyed what we had quite a bit! We had the GFJ/Grapefruit Jungle which was an IPA. As the name implies it had Grapefruit, citrus, fruitiness going on. I personally live IPA's that have Grapefruit in them as it puts a different spin to that beer type. Some breweries do it better than others but this one was definitely one of the better ones. Getting swag in the past was also a struggle with this brewery as they were sold out and not having my size but I eventually won out on that too when they got some of their shirts restocked so I can go represent the brewery when out and about trying other ones or returning to old favorites. read more

This is a charming place to hang out and get a beer. I've been to all of the Sun King locations in central Indiana, so I feel like I'm qualified to compare them. This Sun King Brewery is a lot smaller, but I feel like they have more of a selection here. I've never seen so many different Sun King beers on tap in one place! If there's a Sun King beer that you've been wanting to try, you will most likely find it here. Now, there's a huge selection of beers, but the food selection is minimal. There is one restaurant here: Nacho La Margarita Outpost. Luckily, this place is really good. They have nachos and tacos and things like that. But really, what more do you need to enjoy with your beer? You really just need a little crunchy-salty thing to munch on while you drink beer. The Mexican restaurant in Sun King provides exactly that. This brewery is arranged like a beer hall, in that there are tall ceilings and wide, open spaces with lots of picnic benches for communal seating. There aren't too many places for singletons to sit if they're not sitting at the bar. When I visited, I grabbed one of the picnic tables unabashedly because I wanted to spread out, and there weren't too many people there anyway. I visited on a weekend right when they opened, and there were just a few people, but by 12:30 or 1 p.m., this place was hopping. read more

I've had Sun King beer before, but this was my first time visiting the brewery. The service was excellent. They were prompt, funny, and did a great job explaining the different drink options. I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 because the beer was generally good but nothing that knocks my socks off. The different IPAs in particular seemed off. I enjoyed the Cream Ale and the Apricot Sour. read more

Sun King has some of the best beer around and they are constantly trying new mixtures and flavors. The downtown location has a seasonal slushee or milkshake type drink. I love getting one in the summer and sitting on their patio. The entire seating area inside and out is family friendly. Dogs are welcome outside on the patio. Theres a small restaurant inside where you can get some tasty nachos and they have THE BEST queso around the downtown area! We went on the Kings Reserve tour and had so much fun. We learned a lot and got to taste a few different beers. We were the only ones who racked on the Reserve part of the tour so we got a little private tour of the barrels and tastings of the barrel aged beers. Definitely worth it! Even for a non-beer drinker like me. read more

Sun king is crazy good. They have so many options for beers to try at their downtown taproom. Unlike many craft breweries they have more than just IPA's too. There is nearly everything on the menus. The lagers, porters, stouts, ales, IPA's, sours, etc. They even have seltzer's and cocktails. Sun King's beer is a MUST try in Indiana. They have great service downtown and friendly staff. The only reason they aren't 5 stars is that they don't have the best food. Their beer definitely speaks for itself, but other breweries have much better food if you want dinner and a beer. Their location downtown also is not ideal for walking, biking, or public transportation from most places. However it's got lots of parking. Honestly all of those cons are minor. Overall, all of their beers are delicious. If you like beers come here and try a few! read more

Stopped in for lunch after a tour at the motor speedway. Sun King's sent a few of their offerings to the Philly market over the years so a stop in to check out the digs was a must. We found parking in the lot our front of the brewery. The outside has some nice art on the wall and doesn't seem like it's going to be much until you walk inside. I really thought the inside was spacious, inviting, clean and set up for pretty much anyone. Our group all fit at a family style table and ordered some beers from our very nice server and some food from the Nacho outpost located inside the building. The tap list had a nice mix of beer styles and I had no idea they would have wine, spirits and mixed drinks. I tried a double IPA call Hoptavius and enjoyed it. They had a style for everyone in the group, the guys tried their Mexican lager Pachanga, Oktoberfest and even a Belgian style. The draft beers came in cool Sun King glassware and the to go cooler had great deals for some of their standard brews as well as a few rare releases. I bought some Wee Mac Scottish Ale and Osiris Pale Ale to go and a couple neat aluminum bottles of their Sympathy for the Devil Bourbon Barrel reserve. The prices were very fair and I wish I had bought more of the Sympathy for the Devil! Sun King has a drink offering for everyone and was very kid friendly. Sun king had a truck set up at the blues ber and bbq event in Cumberland. I always like ti try new things and was pleasantly surprised. My surprise is that they are based out of Indiana! I tried a fuzzy fresh tart ale that was perfectly refreshing for the hot evening along with my bbq. I really don't care for bud or miller and such I like Sam Adams and Shock top and leinenkugels, but I will deffinately add Sun King to my favs list. I'm certainly not a big beer guy, but some of my friends are and I like to hang out with them so I have found myself at Sun King a few times recently. I'm definitely giving things a try, and there are plenty of really good options here no matter what your tastes are. I went all in on my selections, but it looks like you can try a bit before committing to a full order, which I may use on my next trip. The Orange Vanilla Sunlight was absolutely incredible, though I'd imagine that's going to be unavailable shortly. I was able to sample a couple others, but that one is what I'll come back for. We love Sun King and it's become our favorite "Parents night out" spot. Can't wait for warmer months to enjoy drinks on their patio! This last visit was a "WOW" one. We remember coming to Sun King when they first opened and had only 3-4 beers on tap. Today, they literally have like 30 and they revolve and have amazing flavors! This trip brought us in for the Chocolate Peanut Cluster Stout. We came in previously for the Whipper Chocolate one they partnered with South Bend Chocolate Co for Went yesterday (7/30/22) to try the Carmel popcorn beer they made for the state fair and oh my!!! Very good! You can definitely taste the Carmel and hints of popcorn. Online it says no carry out available but the sign inside says you can get growler fills so we did!
