    Breakfast Croissant

Cute, little bakery with fresh pastries, breakfast, and sandwiches. I had the breakfast croissant, which hit the spot! Buttery, flakey perfect croissant. Eggs over medium, bacon, avocado, tomato, and cheese. Delicious!!! I got a couple pastries to go: Berry tart, lemon meringue tart, and raspberry crumble tart, which were good, but not the best I've ever had. Will definitely be back when in town for that breakfast croissant!

Such a cute spot for breakfast. The ambiance was nice, the outdoor seating was cozy, and the food was delicious. The breakfast croissant was probably one of the best I've had. I personally like my coffee a little sweeter, so it wasn't quite for me, but that's just a preference. Overall, a great experience and I'd definitely come back when in town

Croissant sandwich w/ bacon & Honey vanilla Latte

Literally never left a review before but this place was soo perfect. I had the Croissant Sandwich w/ bacon and an iced honey vanilla latte. Whatever the house spread is on the sammy was delicious, the staff was super cute and nice, and the outdoor seating area was perfect to finish my book in the sunshine! Right on the main strip of businesses, this is a must-visit for breakfast in Morro Bay!!

Disappointed.... The portions seemed small, the taste of the food lacking. I had the avocado toast *sigh* and the cappuccino, and the cheesecake. Nothing tasted good really. I would not return. I did like the outdoor aesthetic though. The service was tolerable nothing special. I hate to leave such a review but yeah.... Their prices were ok.

A perfect day trip as a respite from vibrant SLO, Morro Bay has a laid-back, authentic charm -- an ideal place to recharge before making our way back to LA. The main street, Morro Bay Blvd., was quiet with plentiful parking as we considered our breakfast options, easily settling on Buttercup Bakery & Café after we espied its outside patio slowly filling up -- and that's a good sign. The line to the counter moved briskly, and when it was our turn, we ordered our reliable breakfast staples: the regular breakfast burrito, the avocado breakfast burrito, and a ham sandwich. First off, there wasn't anything regular about the burrito at all -- it was a hefty log, stuffed with creamy scrambled eggs, crispy potatoes and bacon, and melted cheese, all hugged by a warm flour tortilla. The other, similarly hefty burrito had a generous smear of avocado as its creamy base, with chicken breast, lettuce, diced tomatoes, and microgreens that gave it a bright, satisfying crunch. The ham sandwich was a standout as well. There's an artisanal quality about it -- the thickly sliced ham was slightly pink and not overly salty, a telltale sign that it was minimally processed. Various works of art by local artists adorn the walls inside, speaking to this eatery's strong ties to the community. They also offer other breakfast staples -- pancakes, croissants, and bagels. Properly recharged, we enjoyed our morning sightseeing around the dock (and the Rock) before reluctantly making our way back south. Five stars for a great recharge.

We've spent a few days in Morro Bay. Breakfast at Buttercup Bakery & Cafe was amazing. We ordered the breakfast croissant and breakfast sandwich with bacon. Was delicious. The staff were real friendly. Great way to start day!

This is a cute little spot. The matcha was great, not too sweet and super earthy. The combo on the other hand was not so great. My food was almost cold right as it came out, and the potatoes were lacking flavor. It also took 20ish minutes. If I had just gotten the matcha this would have been

    - Groggy's Scallywag Coffee House…read more My girlfriend and I stopped at Groggy Scallywag Coffee House during a short trip to Morro Bay after she had noticed it on a previous visit. I'm glad we finally tried it. It's a small coffee shop right off Embarcadero with a simple setup. They have refrigerators with cold drinks, can make both hot and iced coffee, and also offer a small selection of pastries such as muffins, croissants, bagels, and cinnamon rolls. They also sell coffee to take home. There really isn't indoor seating, but that did not bother us at all. You're right by the coast, and there are tables outside in the breezeway along with areas near the dock where you can stand and enjoy your drink. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The menu is displayed on a TV screen near the entrance, which made ordering easy. I ordered a large iced Mexican mocha, and it was excellent. You could actually taste the spice in it rather than it just tasting like a regular mocha with a different name. I would absolutely order it again. One small thing that really stood out to me was their discount program. Near the register, they had a multicolored flag recognizing several groups including military, law enforcement, EMS, firefighters, dispatchers, and nurses. Before ringing us up, the employee pointed to it and asked whether any of those applied to us. I told her I was a nurse, and she immediately gave me 10% off. I thought that was a really nice touch. Discounts for military and first responders are common, but nurses are not always included, so I appreciated the recognition. Between the good coffee, friendly staff, convenient location, and thoughtful service, I really have nothing negative to say about this place. I would absolutely come back and would gladly try more of their drinks and pastries next time I'm in Morro Bay.

I opted for the Emerald Garden, Mint Forest, and 2oz wheatgrass. They have a separate juice window, where they only make the juices. Even though I was the only one who ordered juice and was waiting, it took 20 minutes!!! I went over to ask if I maybe missed my juices and was told in a pretty rude manner that she would call me when it was ready. Meanwhile, there's a line of other people waiting for their juice, ordered after me. (They actually got theirs before and immediately after my order, not waiting more than 5-10 minutes). When I finally got my order it was gruffly given to me, warm, and the girl seemed annoyed when I asked questions, like, does this have cayenne in it? I ordered it without. Apparently they wrote it down as "extra cayenne"! I just went with it because it seemed just sprinkled on top and didn't want to wait another 20 minutes, as my breakfast sandwich across the street at the bakery was getting cold. Another worker arrives and said she was new and in training. Overall disappointed with the experience, service, and drinks.

The person working there (owner?) Was hustling hard. She was working the register. Cleaning the tables. Handing out the food. Making the food and drinks in the back. She was a 1 woman wrecking crew. But still was able to get everyone's stuff out in a timely manner. Without sacrificing customer service. We ordered their chai latte and a black medium roast coffee. As well as a breakfast burrito and a rock harburrito. We forgot to tell her it was to go as we were trying to get back home before the LA traffic started. Imagine to my surprise when she came out with the food and it was to go!! The chai latte was really good. I loved it. And my wife really enjoyed it. Black coffee was good too. No frills. No fluff. But it kept me awake for the 4.5 hour drive home. So that works. The breakfast burrito was really good. My wife enjoyed hers. And mines was good too. Packaged really well. Ate it while driving so that really facilitated us getting home before the traffic. It was a very hearty burrito the rock harburrito. Gave us some green sauce to go with it. And it was just amazing. The inside is somewhat cramped with many tables and chairs. She also sells baked goods. And some random things. Like coffee mugs and other things.
