The amenities are excellent, and the location is hard to beat. Being within walking distance of the beach and having a free trolley to the pier made getting around easy and enjoyable. The staff was outstanding, friendly, helpful, and genuinely pleasant throughout our stay. That said, the campground feels noticeably more crowded than it did a couple of years ago. The former ropes course has been removed and replaced with additional campsites, cabins, and RV spots. While I understand the need to grow, the extra density has taken away some of the charm and space that made the campground feel more family friendly. Traffic was another concern. There seemed to be more golf carts and vehicles than before, often moving too quickly through the campground. With limited traffic calming measures, I didn't feel as comfortable letting kids ride their bikes around as I did on previous visits. Noise was the biggest issue. The train passing through at night wasn't ideal, but it was manageable. More disruptive was a large group of young adults camping nearby who partied until after 2 a.m. both nights. Between the late night noise, and a car alarm that sounded for an extended period overnight, getting a good night's sleep was nearly impossible. Overall, this is still a campground with great amenities, a fantastic location, and exceptional staff. However, the increased crowding, traffic, and late-night noise have made it feel less family oriented than it used to, especially in the tent camping areas. read more

Found a great little spot to camp at Wild acres until....a freight train barreled through about 15 feet from our tent. It comes though about 3 times throughout the night and literally shakes the ground. Be sure to not to camp near the railroad tracks!! Weekends are packed and it's wall to wall people. There are so many rental trailers and alot of seasonal permanent trailers! As with any beach scene you have alot of people who are there to party, the campground has its share of loud rude campers. If quiet is what you're looking for, this probably wouldn't work for you. I will say the playgrounds are very nice and the pools are very nice. It's very close to the beach which is convenient. For a camping site with electric and water I paid $129 a night in the middle of July from Wednesday through Monday. read more

Another ruined camp facility by sun retreats. The removal of one of the highest attraction to this campground was last straw for us.

So when we first arrived at the camp grounds yesterday we were blown away by the amenities and the serene environment of this place. This morning we woke up to loads of small children from a camp being dropped off here. So now the pool and playground we thought would be great for our kid is absolutely over taken by 60 or so kids absolutely screaming. Even in my camper it's all I can hear. I really feel like there should have been a disclaimer that their camp site is also used to host a camp during the day it would have made us choose differently when selecting our campground or camp site. Very disappointed. The ropes course and zip lines also seem to be gone? It's still listed on the website but is no longer printed on the maps. One of the big things we were looking forward to. The beach is said to be 2/10ths of a mile away but it's got to be a mile or more. You have to leave the park and walk through a downtown area to get there. Feels a bit deceptive. read more

My grandparents have a seasonal site and so I've gone here for my whole life. So after not coming here for tenish years besides visiting I figured it was time to start the tradition for my children. Well we booked for a weeks stay on the website and no where does it say that the activities at the camp ground was closed. But pools are shut down besides one they said they were shutting down the next day. Ariel park was only on Saturdays (didn't say that on the website) and the bmx track is just a plain crappy spot that is just uneven. On top of that... 90% of the sites are seasonal and no one but old people looking at us with side eyes and grumpy faces. Never have I felt so unwelcome. Sorry but the tradition is not continuing. If your old and rich this is the place for you. If your a couple with kids and a traditional camper, this ain't for you. Plus, all the extras cost money like the aerial park is 30/person. Same as outsiders, there should at least be a discount for campers. Especially the money I paid for a weeks stay with a train in the backyard blowing its horn at 2am every night. The last two days we were getting my son to the er and getting a cast from breaking his leg on the jumping thing they had near the playground. Stay far away from this place. It is by no means a resort far from it. More like a mobile home park with a parking lot of RV sites mixed into it. We have a 28 Foot RV. We booked a premium site in which our site was so cramped together with the other sites on both sides of us. The site was so uneven along with being under powered to the point you can not even run your ac with anything else running other wise it will trip the electrical box which could ruin your electric. We literally were 4 feet or less between the other sites around us. In which at night the other RV's lights were shinning into our widows due to how close we were. Lastly it is so noisy due to the sites being so close together & having a active railroad right next to the park. We couldn't handle staying here any longer, we left a day early. Welp, this "resort" is like the classic Clint Eastwood flick, "The Good, the bad, and the the ugly". First off, the good. It is conveniently located close to the beach. A few minutes to drive or walk, and you're at the beach. The playgrounds are modern and spacious, although a bit frightening for the younger ones due to their height. I'm sure the BMX park and ropes course was fun, but didn't get around to it. The positives are far outweighed by the negatives. The Bad. The only difference between the regular and premium TV sites are access to 50amp power. Our site was small and nearly impossible to back the camper into without pulling into others sites. The roads are so narrow, two way traffic is impossible. The sites are so small, RV dealer's showrooms provide with more space and amenities per RV. Our site welcomed us with broken glass and used needle caps, but that's cool cuz 3 and 5 year olds love wearing shoes. We're an adventurous family and enjoy some risks, but hepatitis and stitches pushes our comfort zone. There are a lot of pools, but the rules are arbitrary and enforced differently for transients and seasonals. Example... there is a hot tub for children 5-12yrs old, but the children must be supervised. While supervising the kids, I put legs in hot tub, and was told to remove my feet. Heavens forbid an adult who is watching their toddler in a pool puts their feet in a hot tub, but the drunk adults in the 2-3 foot pool lounging and crushing White Claws, swearing, and vaping is ok. My kids can hear the "F" bomb, the slurred see you next Tuesday and the fecal adjective.... But don't let an adult supervising a child put their feet in a hot tub. The only pool suitable for small children to play was perpetually overrun by inebriated adults. The ugly... well needless to say the "band" Texas Pete blasted their karaoke-esque tunes at excessive volume for hours. It was fun trying to settle my young Kids to bed with the sound of a third rate crooner echoing less than 20 yds from my site. Peace, rest, and relaxation does not happen here. Between the lack of privacy (due to sites literally being on top of each other) the karaoke band, and the main road noises peace can not be found until pulling away. The ever present smell of marijuana drifting through the park helped make me hate the place less, but resulted in me craving Funyuns and staring at an unplugged TV. read more

Forgetting to mention the trees and railroad tracks that are between you and the represented ocean view, as well as the 6 block walk.Also they forgot to mention the train that starts to roll through the back side of the RV Park at 3:00am and continues throughout the day and evening.Also your not allowed to leave your dog unattended in your camper, so we were not able to enjoy the beach or any activities. Man, where do I start??? I read all the negative reviews for over the last year and agree with a couple, but it's just nit-picking. Let me give you my opinion while addressing some issues. Some will find it offensive, others funny. The place is clean, really clean. pools, bathrooms, grounds, etc. I'm a germ freak and I'm quite comfortable here. For the people complaining about bathroom cleaning times, shut your pie holes, you are just stupid. Dirty bathrooms make the stay miserable. The camp has 100's of campers on diffrent time schedules, they cant work around everyone you moron. They post the cleaning times so adjust! (Can't fix stupid) This place is safe ... I'm extremely protective of my kids and I let them wander and do not worry. The adults seem to watch out for all the kids which was really nice. For those who complain about kids driving golf carts, no one likes a pansy! You are just jealous you couldn't drive them when you were younger because your parents though you were a douche! Knock it off! Your just pissed because you can't move your drunk ass fast enough out of the way. About fires and quiet time ... The staff are helpful and friendly and they don't drive around telling people to put out their fires at 11 which is a huge positive to me. Who the hell goes camping and then gets ready for bed at 11 anyway? As long as you are relatively quiet and respectful of your neighbors, you wont be hassled. Most people want to enjoy adult companionship around the fire after the kids go to sleep. Maybe sleeping outdoors isnt for you? Suck it up and stop being a little bitch. Just quickly... This place is fairly close to the beach and a trolley stops here if you don't want to walk. They have a BMX trail, zip line, fishing and it's all excellent. I should update this because we've had such positive experiences since the last time. We stayed in a cabin and it's absolutely awesome that you don't have to bring much and there was plenty of room. It's like a tiny home. The store is full of cool things like the milkshakes etc. However it's a little pricey which is what I expect. I like the pools and how clean it is. We rented a cabin which was great except for a few things. There is no storage space! There are no hooks to even hang anything. My suggestion would be to put hooks in the bathrooms...no one cares about pictures on the wall. In the kitchen over the coffee maker...you need some open shelves so people have a place to put food. Also behind the door to the cabin and even on the screen porch...lots of hooks are needed. Those are cheap and easy and would make people happy. The beds were VERY uncomfortable and none of us slept well. The campground itself is wonderful. The aerial adventure park is exceptional with awesome staff. We stayed here this weekend for the second year in a row. Last year, it was awesome, but this year was less than stellar. The cabins are not even 3 feet away from each other which does little for privacy. The screen door on our cabin was held together with duct tape. The cabin is equipped with 2 AC units that only work work by remotes and the remotes were nowhere to be found. We called down to the main office several times for issues we were having, but never received an answer or a call back. The weather was not great beach weather so one night, around 8 pm the whole family got dressed to go to the pool that is supposed to be open til 10 to find it pad locked and closed :( The mini golf course could be neat except the bricks that line each of the holes are not close enough to keep the balls from rolling through. Overall, the stay was not worth the money and the staff is unavailable when you need them and very unfriendly when you don't. We were hoping to make this trip an annual tradition, but after this year that probably wont be the case. read more

Stayed here regularly for 25 years and loved it. This year there were many problems. We camped in our 25 foot travel trailer. Restrooms were not kept up and cleaned only once a day and this is during COVID. AND they had no soap in the ladies room for 3 days! One morning a woman was mowing the DIRT in our site - not grass- and sprayed dirt all over our outside kitchen and tables. No concern for the patron. Quiet time was at 11pm and 11:35 there was so much noise I had to call the office to report it. Loud yelling and golf cart racing around our site. Why have the rules if they are not enforced. Wifi was terrible, almost no service and that is part of what you pay for. This was bad enough to not go back after 25 years. We will find somewhere else to stay. read more

We visited the first week of August and booked one of their tent sites. All and all a great experience and we plan to return and would recommend. Things I loved: Showers and bathrooms were very clean, close to all sites and FREE. The camp was packed but it wasn't difficult to get an open shower when needed. The zip line adventure was a lot if fun and reasonably priced at $20.00 per person. In addition, there were scheduled activities for kids all day long. My kids did the tie dye, lava lamp craft and make your own glow slime which they enjoyed. Everything was free or cost was min. We took the trolley for $1.00 per person (one way) which came every half hour. Sites are clean, store on property had lots of necessities if you forgot something. Needs Improvement: Staff is very young and not very helpful. On the zip lines one staff gave us detailed instructions while another staff went on to pretty much break all the rules we were told. Kids were fooling around and it was unnerving being up so high. Another time a women was screaming from the tree and staff had to be hunted down. Though they (staff) were friendly a few more mature staff would have been good. Port a pottys were not cleaned regularly so I skipped them to head to the regular. Quiet hours not totally enforced, we had a tent of campers who couldn't form a sentence without yelling at least two cuss words in each one. Good experience overall my kids loved it. Very kid friendly. Lots of families there. read more

I do disllike the new standard of the "Chain RV Parks" to cut every single bush down and cram as many spaces together as possible... I realize it's a trend I will not be able to change but I just hate how when my awning is out, it's 5 feet way from my neighbor. On a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, Don't even think about going to bed before quiet hours start unless you have a nice loud AC unit to drown out the partying Seasonal campers there... No it's not the transients that are loud it's the seasonals! That was new for me... I don't mind the Train that others complained about.... It's not like the campground can control that anyway.. I am not sure what is going on with this campground. I have heard great things about it from others, so we decided to try. We made reservations after 2 other camping families booked, told them I had a 28' trailer. Upon arrival to site I backed into a site that clearly was not big enough by any means, If I had unhooked, there was no room for my truck, the picnic table and fire ring was between us and next site. I would have been affraid to use it(which we look foward to), the sites are SO CLOSE here it is unbelievable. Our friends upon arrival, were told their sites were moved after they had booked, without notification, those sites were worse than ones they were supposed to have. Asked front desk if they had any other sites that accommodate and flatly said no, without much concern. That is unacceptable.. There is no disclosure that says they reserve right to change sites anywhere in their website. Never again. read more

Two night stay, nice camp area. Bathrooms are so so, but in their favor the cleaning crew was due in at 0930. Not sure when the garbage trucks arrive but Monday morning both garbage bins were overloaded to the top and garbage was spewing on the ground next to the bin. Not something I prefer to see right next To shower/bathroom facility. Pool and hot tubs very nice and relaxing. I agree about staff swarming you like angry bees. This is sad but true: When we travel with our 12 and 15 year olds, even to a campground near the beautiful coast of Maine, wi fi access is crucial. We just spent 4 nights at Wild Acres and found the wi fi access to be fine for checking emails, Facebook, etc but not reliable or fast enough to stream video. The kids did survive without YouTube though and are probably better off for it. Wild Acres is HUGE and the sites are very packed together. I understand that their season is short but I would personally be willing to pay more money for a site for a bit more privacy and breathing room. Why not offer some "premium" sites for a season to see how it goes? More space and privacy and maybe an additional picnic table? Or perhaps a group site that 2-3 families could share? read more

Checking in was rough and took a long time because we were early and we were a girl scout troop so we had a special package. The people at the check in didnt know how to help us, but finally a lady came and hlped us. It was worth the wait! Pools, Arial park and playground was great! We liked our site and the bathrooms/showers were wonderful!! Lots of pressure and hot! Park is also pretty clean and well kept. While this campground is walking distance to the beach, the Boston Maine Railroad ran directly behind our site. All. Night. Long. Our camper shook each time it past by and we barely slept all night. We were very thankful to only have reserved the weekend - there's no way we could have stayed the whole week! This was my first time staying here, and we really loved this park. It's a very large rv park minutes from old orchard. Good locations, sites are nice and flat. Lots of activities at this park. They have horseshoe games, a big screen tv which has movies at night, sox games, nascar on sundays, and grills to bring your food and cook while you watch if you want. Many activities for kids during the day. 3 pools, a jacuzzi, clean showes and bathrooms. I loved the layout of the park. Many sites have trees that give just enough shade during the day, and makes you feel like you are in the woods, not just an wide open skies and cleared out land to park your rv. One thing you will notice is that the Canadians from Quebec are the majority, and are not so friendly for the most part. If the park banned the French Canadians, I would give it 5 stars (kidding!). read more

Simply the worst customer service in all the years we have been camping. We booked our sites on January 17 spent approximately 30 minutes with an agent on the phone selecting 2 sites for us and our nephew and niece. The process went very well. After booking, two I more of our friends wanted to join us; so we gave them our site numbers and they were able to select a site right by us. When we arrived we were given two sites that were terrible, in a totally different section from our friends. We were told that these new sites were they ones we had booked. Then were told they don't guarantee any site, plus were told this when we booked ( thats 2 lies in the first 5 minutes) Why spend 30 minutes picking sites if they aren't gonna be guaranteed. This sounds like the Seinfeld episode about holding a car reservation. They then told us that they either called or texted us about our relocation again another lie. We then spent a good part of the next hour spinning our wheels finally asking for a refund. We then found a campground about a mile down the street that accommodated all three of us. The difference in customer service between these two companies was amazing. We have camped many times in old Orchard Beach there are much better campgrounds than this one. Stayed here for 4th of July weekend. This is only trip #2 in our newly acquired camper. I don't love this place but it does have a lot to offer. My biggest gripe is that the sites are literally on top of each other. The campground is also HUGE. We were so far away from WAC beach entrance, it was a solid 10 minute drive from our site. I new that this resort was big I just didn't realize how big it was. Regardless, you can park for free so it's not a huge deal. We weren't traveling with kids but I think if we were that I'd be singing a different a tune. The bathrooms are clean and showers are FREE. I feel like that never happens at campgrounds. All in all, an okay trip but our hunt for a seasonal site for 2015 continues. read more

Came here for the week with my family, but the staff has been nothing but nasty to my family and I. The only thing that made this trip enjoyable were the people I came with. When I approached the entrance, I was confused and didn't know where to park to go into the office to check in, as there were no parking spots and no space to park. When I asked what to do, the girls at the entrance gave me an attitude and laughed at me when they thought I was gone. My drunk husband is allowed to drive the golf cart but my 20 year old son was not allowed to when my husband wasn't able to drive safely. The group I was with were singing softly at the fire with ukuleles and a guitar with our family as we do every trip and someone complained, so a staff member came around. Again, NASTY. There was a much better way of handling the situation than he did. People are allowed to set off fireworks but we aren't allowed to peacefully sing as a family? Not to mention the people a few sites down from us SCREAMING!! read more

Once again, if you try to get the cheapest spot you can, you very well might end up complaining. We got a great location, on an end, overlooking the pool, grass, in the section of the park closest to the ocean. Pay a little more, get a little more. This place is HUGE and filled to the brim. There are many permanent summer units. This is a beach and a party atmosphere so be prepared. It was hard to pull out early without disrupting the sleep of everyone around us:( In spite of having a "pull-through" site, we could not fit our 28' TT and truck to stay hooked up or hook-up the night prior to departure. It was also extremely difficult to pull out of the park because there are so many vehicles parked on the sides of the road, limiting mobility. On the plus side, the beach here could not be better! You can even take your dog off-leash after 5 pm. The water was 67 degrees & very swimmable in late July. Old Orchard Beach is very charming and had a causal vibe. Not overpriced or stuck-up feeling like a lot of beach communities tend to lead with. Would return just for the beach. BTW, Wi-fi here worked better than great for us!!! read more

There is just something about this place that makes it unenjoyable and it is hard to figure out why. This is our second time and I'm pretty disappointed. We booked a full year in advance, requesting specific sites with two other families. All three sites we're 'turned seasonal' and we never got notified. So after being in the car for ever we show up to find we got the ol' switch a ro' and while they aknowledged they never looked at notes and should have but did not e-mail is the change, the campground was booked and we had to deal. They did help with a discount but still, its a major bummer. We all got separated and put in lousy sites. This is a VERY commercial 'campground' which I air quote because there is zero connection with nature and the whole camping experience. Everyone is crammed in like sardines. The railroad goes by all night and is loud as *&%!. The beach is a fair walk. Its just meh, and for the money we will be looking elsewhere for sure. read more

We stayed here for a little over 2 weeks. The location was great for beach within walking distance. Bathrooms were all fairly new as was the laundry. At times the bathrooms were dirty mainly due to slobbish people who don't clean up their site much less after themselves. Problems with this park are the fact that they are extremely busy with the park packing people in especially on the weekends. The seasonal people also have many guests in the weekends. Most of the people there are families with multiple children that just run wild from daylight until late at night. There are 4 pools but they are so crowded with screaming kids you can't relax. Only went to the pool 2 days early but by noon had to leave due to crowding. Constant traffic within park of cars, golf carts, skateboards, scooters, motorcycles and bicycles even in the middle of the night. If the sites were not so close & crowded together we would have enjoyed it more since it's a beautiful area. Loved walking the beach in early morning but otherwise don't bother. We have loved the other Sun RV parks so this was disappointing. Also this park was more expensive that Florida during peak season. read more

When we checked in I told the girl in the office we might stay two nights instead of one. She told me she will put me in a site that is available for two days and I would just have to pay the next morning if I decided to stay. The next morning at 8:00 am I went to the office to pay for the extra day and the girl in the office told me they booked my site and I would need to move to a different site. They could have very easily put the the next reservation in a different site so we didn't have to move all of our stuff. The staff is very unprofessional. This is the best campground I have stayed at in awhile. We arrived to find flooded tentsites, and they gave us ideas as to which to stay the night. The following night we returned to find a chance to pick our own site. We chose a great rustic tent site, isolated from all others! We got to come in early with no extra fee. We were next to a beautiful river that you can fish in. Then we walked to old orchard beach. The campground is literally walking distance-but I recommend parking for free at their designated beach parking at the end of the campground and walking from there because our actual site was a tad far. The campground has 3 pools, 4 hot tubs, a big screen tv where they show NASCAR, football, and kids movies. They sell beer, and as long as it's in a can you can drink anywhere...and if you run out they will sell you more at the camp store. Yes, I recommend this place. They had the cleanest campsite I have ever seen! read more

We stayed Wed through Sat just as the season was starting in June. We had an RV on a site with full hook-ups. Each site had a fire pit and a picnic table - and without a ton of other RVs yet, it seemed large enough. But wow, come Fri night - the sites were full and we realized we didn't have a lot of space at all. The neighbor's picnic table was practically at our "bedroom window." But otherwise - we picked the site for its proximity to everything and the amenities. My husband loved the aerial park; we enjoyed the pool and playground; easy walk to the beach, the on-site store/registration office, and back from town. There is free WIFI which they forgot to give us the code for - but we were more interested in our campfire than our Kindle. All in all - a good trip...and we will definitely be back. read more

I would never return here. We love camping and although we did meet a nice family it was not worth it. There is a train that runs from 5am til 11pm and blares its horn at the campsite. There is no one enforcing the quiet time so we were up until 3am first night saying shut up. They allowed a cabin to clean septic around 10pm so the truck and racket were frustrating. I have videos of it all. I will say the facility was kept clean. Bare minimum activities during our stay. Also I did report my issues and they did nothing but say sorry. No discount or offer to help. But the regulars get perks like free ice cream at the social as I forked out money. read more

Love love LOVED it there! Beautiful, well kept with touches of petunia baskets, solar lights and split rail fences. Staff were wonderful. Lots to do....four swimming pools with hot tubs, bmx bike track, zip lines, and miniature golf. There's a restaurant right at the gate where we had lobster. Beach is an easy bicycle ride from campground. Lots of shady trees and campground was quiet. We'll definitely go back. I would definitely consider this a camping resort. Five stars! read more
