This place truly gave me a great experience. Last Saturday evening, my car suddenly wouldn't start. I thought it was a battery issue, but it wasn't. I tried everything I could, but the car wouldn't start. Left with no choice, I waited two days until Monday before having it towed to the dealership. However, a few hours later, I received a call saying they couldn't fix it because it had an aftermarket camera installed and told me to take it back. OMG So, I left the car at a nearby repair shop for a day. I received a call early the next morning. They said they couldn't fix it and told me to take it back.. Not knowing what to do, I got the phone number for this place from a friend who runs a body shop. My friend said that if they can't fix it, nobody can. Trusting him, I left my car there. I received a call early the next morning. They said it was all fixed! My friend was right after all. The owner was very kind, and the staff were also very friendly. Such a great knowledgeable shop Chris and Jay gave me the rundown on the problems that I had with my car and gave me options to fix them, they noted down the parts that need to be ordered ordered them and scheduled me for another day to be repaired. They gave me a call when parts were in I scheduled an Uber driver to pick me up when I dropped off the vehicle. They gave me a call when everything was done and it was a great experience. This place was recommended to me by a friend who had an awesome experience. The first thing my friend told me is that they are very honest mechanics. I would soon find out what he meant. I arrived at their shop with my car smoking. I told them that I had the radiator replaced about 2 years ago and that I may need a new one. After they ran a pressure test, they determined that I needed a brand new radiator cap! Thats it! Like everyone in LA, I need my car. Had they told me you I needed a new radiator I would have not hesitated to pay on the spot. Instead, they were stand up guys and told me it was a small repair for a few bucks, the cost of the cap and the diagnostic! Feeling great, I also told them that my car gave me a screeching sound in the mornings. "Maybe I need a new timing and engine belt" I told them. However, I had just changed it 2 years ago. Mechanic takes a look and touches the belt and says "...nope, these still look as good as new, what you are describing is sound I associate with low power steering fluid." He pops open the cap and is like "...yup, let me top you off and you will be fine." I mean come on! These guys had a guy like me at their mercy and conducted themselves like no other mechanics I have ever dealt with. From now on I will recommend this place to everyone I know. My Toyota Prius headlight went out and the maintenance light was on! I dreaded getting pulled over for another Fix-It Ticket!! What an ordeal that is! I called Jay and was able to get in the very next morning and they changed the bulb, and more, while I waited! They also changed the oil, oil and air filters needed changing, and checked brakes, tires, and overall safety. This kind of great personalized service would have taken all day and cost an arm and a leg at the dealership.Can't thank him enough for taking such good care of my care. This place was a little hard to find, but boy am I glad I found it! I got an oil change, tune up, tire patch, and brake job done with these guys. I just started a new job that requires me to drive my own car out in the field for a few months until I get a company car. I knew that I probably needed brakes done so I took the car in. Both guys there were very upfront, helpful just . . . well, real. They told me exactly what it would cost right away, no BS. Most mechanics I have gone to will give some sort of line like "well, I have to check what the parts will cost and then get back to you" I always get annoyed because I imagine a brake job is pretty common and a good mechanic should know of the top of his head what that should cost. Anyway, they took into consideration my time and allowed me to bring the car early two days in a row and they got me out of there in a few hours each time. I got a lot of work done and never had to rent a car or get a ride from someone. I simply set my computer up in their little lounge room area and 1-2 hours later, I was ready to go. I am not sure if they can do this all the time, maybe I lucked out. But bottom line is that this is the most convenient mechanic I have found. They don't screw around with you on price, they are fair, they are quick and they make sense!!! I just hope that they are not too busy next time. I feel obligated to leave a good review, I just hope that my little secret does not get too busy too fast. Well if it does, they deserve it! Very satisfied. And price was awesome too! read more

Stumbled across this shop randomly when my girlfriend and I were carshopping from a private party and needed a quick car inspection before deciding on purchasing a vehicle in the mid city area. I don't even live in mid-city, I live in Highland Park, but I was so impressed by Jay and his shop that the next time I need my car worked on I won't even think twice about driving across town so Jay can look at it. This guy saved us from buying a used car that on paper looked great but upon closer inspection would have required an additional $1200 in work on top of the purchase price. Jay spent 20 minutes with us dissecting his findings, which he was able to gauge after hoisting up the car and thoroughly running through his inspection checklist. Not only did he run through each potential trouble-spot but told us exactly how much the part would cost, including labor, and gave us a careful breakdown of the pros and cons of doing the work vs waiting a few months. The guy was not pushing us to spend money and buy this car, just so we would throw him business, like other mechanics might do, he was giving us honest advice at what HE WOULD DO if he was in our shoes and how much the used car was truly worth, given the repairs needed on it. The answer in the end..not worth it for the price we were about to pay. The inspection cost us $40, we were in and out in 40 minutes (on a Saturday) and we were saved from potentially buying a lemon that would have cost us tons in repairs done the line. Money WELL SPENT. And to top it all off, Jay spent another 10 minutes recommending the Toyotas and Hondas and specific years and models he thought we should be looking for in our price range. As long as I've been in Los Angeles, I've been mechanic shopping. I've never taken my car to the same place twice because I've never been completely satisfied. This has ended at Jay's place. Not only is he knowledgeable, he's honest and he is priced fairly--three qualities I have yet to find all together in any another shop in LA. Some guys are honest and good, but extremely expensive. If you are looking for that honest mechanic of your dreams, these are the guys! I had gone to a big chain auto service center with a noise in my car. They quoted me over $750 dollars for the work (this is after having only 4 weeks earlier charged me $700 in repairs for a water pump that I don't think needed to be replaced). They told me my power steering pump was dead and that I needed to replace it. I couldn't afford it so I asked all of my friends and someone suggested Sun Service Auto Repair. I called and took it in.
