This is a great place, and the people who work there really try hard to communicate well; I think the problems usually come from the application or computer system. I know I've experienced a sense of stupidity many times standing there in front of the staff after they have asked if I checked in online (one checks in online to avoid having to wait around for services, and it is theoretically very convenient, but it gets tricky if you add services to your original purchase), and I say "no, because what I want to do isn't available in my profile." They used to smile and ask to see my phone and show me that in fact, it was. Now, they struggle to find even my profile in the computer. That aside, I've been to the St. Matthews location and Belknap location, and both are great. They keep the places very clean, don't oversell you on nonsense, and kindly answer questions when you have them. They also let me try red light therapy for free before I bought any sessions. read more

Meghan is great! I've been having trouble with my app for the past few years and no one (including customer service) could figure out the problem. I've had consistently bad experiences at Sun Tan City recently. The front desk staff is unprofessional and rude, and it really brings down the whole experience. There are plenty of other tanning options in the area that treat clients with basic respect, I'd recommend going elsewhere. The price doesn't match the experience anymore. Sad to see. read more

My favorite location in the city of Louisville. Very helpful staff, usually in and out very quickly and they have the latest beds. They have three different modern ten minute types of the instant bed and they also have the older 12 minute Instant bed. Plenty of other types of beds and spray tans as well. Very clean, well lit, as well as spacious location with plenty of parking and convenient to the malls and dining establishments on Shelbyville Road. They of course have all the extra products but I have never felt pressured to buy anything extra here. My definite go to place when I am in this area of Louisville! read more

I visited today and asked for the tinted spray tan. I haven't been in a while so I wasn't sure how much it would cost. The lady told me it was $50. I thought that was pretty steep and after I paid her, she handed me two lotions that I didn't ask for and said "they come with it". Online a spray tan is $15-30. I've been scammed. This was a tall lady with blonde hair. It is terrible that you are scamming people to get some tiny bonus check. Absolutely pathetic. read more

First timer here! I wanted a spray tan that looked natural for a trip out west. The girls were so nice to me and explained all my choices. I even decided to get my teeth whitened! They turned out great. I bought a package that includes two more visits and it wasn't that expensive at all. The Saint Matthews Suntan City in Louisville KY is by far the best one, I've ever been to! I've been to all of them in the Louisville area. The one in Springhurst across from Paddock shops on Brownsboro road is the absolute worst! Stay away from that one and don't give them your cr card! If if you have to go there, just tan! Don't buy anything! This suntan city, St Matthews Location has employees that actually know what they're doing they don't give you false information & they are quick the place is clean. They are nice they greet you with a smile. I have to say if Middletown weren't so far away, I would go there more! I used to live in Middletown and that was my "go to" suntan city and I never had an issue there either! I was overcharged by $700 a year and a half ago at the location in Springhurst and I never could get a refund. read more

The staff were friendly and helpful, and I only had to wait a short time for a sunless bed to be cleaned before my spray tanning session. The store was clean and well organized. This is the first tanning salon that I had ever stepped foot into. I've still never been in a tanning bed, though, and thanks to the great spray tan at Sun Tan City, I won't have to! I've spent three times as much on spray tans at custom studios in town, and the spray tan from the automated booth at Sun Tan City was just as good -- if not better -- than those custom tans. This particular location was clean, the staff friendly, and the process quick and easy. after choosing my level of tan, I stepped into the room with automated booth. A diagram showed me where to place my feet, and a pre-recorded woman's voice told me when and how to reposition myself to get the best color. About 3 minutes later, I had my tan in place. I stood for a minute longer to allow it to dry, then was ready to go. Nearly a week later, my color is slowly fading, but it's not as garish and patchy in doing so as it has been from other spray tans. All in all, this is a great way go get glowing without the harmful effects of UV rays. read more

No complaints At this particular tanning salon. It's always clean and fairly quick. Depending on what time of day you come it may be a little busy. They have online appointments now, I have not had the time nor the care to sign up online and make an account to use that feature. They always have specials since this is a tanning chain. You can freeze your account for $5 a month and when you unfreeze that money goes towards your monthly fee. They have sunless tanning as well, does an ok job. I have orange spots every time I go. :( They offer different bed levels, staff is knowledgable on the beds and your options. They do try to sell you items periodically which bothers me but it's part of the business! read more

WOW! I've been coming to this location of Sun Tan City for over two years and love it. The customer service has improved even more lately. I used to hesitate to come within one hour of closing because of the front desk attitude that used to make customers feel bad for coming close to closing time, but it's not that way now. I see new faces (and some previous who are nice) and just had a Friday night tanning done on. Friday night where there was a line and the staff handled it with grace and style! Kudos, ladies! This company will convince you to take a certain plan, take your money, then tell you the plan you have is completely different than what they sold you. Even when you ask for recourse they condescend and pretend they never told you such a thing. I spent hundreds on my plan only to be left with nothing. Buyer beware. read more

bad experience this time. usually i like this place and dont have issues but the girls were the rudest. i walked in with my friend and first thing out of her mouth "do you have a scan card" no "hey how can i help you." then she proceeded to say that i needed a parent to come sign something because it is required yearly if you are under 18. i called my mom and she wasn't able to come so she talked to her and said "my daughter is fine to do it she has my permission" and she was like "i need you to physically be here to sign it" so i wasn't able to get a tan. i understand the rule but in general she was so rude. also a literal teenager. like sweetie you have no authority over me. do you want my money or nah? anyway. they need to be nicer. ill come back because i dont like being pale but they need to be more respectful and understanding. especially because what parent can come and do that at the drop of a dime. they have a life. read more

Firm believer that if you take the time to let a business know they are sucking, then you should also take a second to acknowledge when you have a good experience. This location rocks. They've got plenty of beds, hardly ever a wait, and the staff seems to be friendly and knows their stuff. First, I would like to compliment the staff at the Middletown branch of STC in Louisville. They are always really nice, professional, and helpful. They apologize if you have to wait for any time in line, they let you know about specials, and are generally providing good customer service. I wish I could say the same for the folks at the St. Matthew's location. I stopped by there last night on my way to an appointment - it was more convenient than my normal Middletown location. I will not make this mistake again. When I came in, two employees were talking to a customer. There were no other customers besides me and this woman. The customer apparently needed to exchange a lotion for another lotion. Neither of the employees acknowledged me when I came in, and they continued to ignore me for almost ten minutes. One of them mumbled, "We'll be right with you" after I cleared my throat. But the other continued to ignore me. The customer said twice, "You can help this woman," - meaning me - but the employees continued to ignore me. Finally, I stepped up and said, "Can I check in and get going?" The employee who had been slouched over so far on the counter I couldn't see her name tag finally stood up enough for me to see she is an assistant manager. I have a pretty high tolerance for poor customer service. But this really takes the cake. Being ignored - when the store isn't busy - is not good customer service. I had a very poor experience there and I plan on telling my friends who tan about this. read more

I've been coming here off and on for years and the tanning business has gone down hill since the KY taxing. This location has great face to face employees but clearly they are not doing great work behind the scenes. Beds need to be opened up and deep cleaned and repaired. (Deep vacuum cleaning) speakers and music are shot in most beds. And it seems like nobody bends over to clean the inside tops of the beds. This is a great place! It's clean, modern and pretty. The products are displayed nicely and they have a good range of prices for different products. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable....which is nice for this novice tanner! I'm fair skinned and have Auburn colored hair, so far I've got color and no burn! I've been using the Instant bed which is pricey but I have my sister's wedding in 10 days and need a tan quickly...I plan to downgrade to a cheaper plan later. The first 2 times I tanned in the Instant bed, I did 7 minutes, today, my 3rd time I did 9 minutes. I've definitely got some color but I don't plan on doing this bed long term and will switch in a week or two...I like their "contract" because it's not long term and if you don't like the price level/bed you chose, you can quickly change it. They also offer you an online account so you can manage your plan and you can check in online so you're not waiting in line. I've not had to wait yet. Overall this is a great place and they offer a good range of prices for tanning and they're open until 11pm every night which is great for late-night workers or just the regular night owl :-) I highly recommend this place but be ready to hear about their products, they weren't too pushy and I wanted some anyway but don't be afraid to ask about prices or cheaper items because they're often told to push a certain product, it's part of their job. read more
