I was in the area the other day so decided to get take out. Got my favorite - a chicken parm sandwich - which is typically a nice sized portion there. Well it was maybe half the size it usually is (1 small piece of chicken cut in half) for 14 bucks. I know things are tough with the COVID situation & we need to support our local restaurants, but I'll focus on places where I at least get something for my money. me and my friends tried everything! 2 platters chicken fingers (didn't have) wings (they were ok. wasn't crazy about the sauce. kinda greasy) zucchini sticks (yum!) mozzarella sticks (yum!) potato skins (yum!) quesidilla (didn't have) jalapeno poppers (yum!) bruschetta (yum!) plain pizza (yum!) everything i had was very good. except the wings. i loved how well cooked everything was. i know its bar food but if it didn't taste good i just won't eat it. friendly waitress too! we def. had enough food to go around. there were 5 of us. it was great! we were able to substitute the fried mushrooms for the zucchini sticks. the fried ravioli was out so we got the poppers instead. very accommodating. read more

Food is always good. Old world pizza with vodka sauce is my favorite. The wait staff and bartenders are always friendly... in the rare event something comes out wrong, they are always extremely apologetic and have it corrected immediately. So lame. I've been to ST about 4 times and can only find 1 thing good about the place. The outside seating is nice...BUT I have no reason to be there since I do not like their food and I've gotten several flat beers. 1st time - Went with work friends. Ordered several pizza that other people enjoyed but I was kind of whatever about them. We also got 2 pitchers of different beer but both were flat with not a single bubble. I feel like this should be noticed when pouring an entire pitcher and there is not a single bubble of carbonation. 2nd time - Went back with work friends several months later....ordered a pint.....STILL FLAT BEER! No way that's just my luck. 3rd time - Went with non work friends that live in the area. We were seated inside this time and man was that depressing. The dingy old carpet with weak lighting are begging to be fixed up. I ordered several beers that were advertised as a promotional price on a huge banner outside...when the bill came all the beers were $1.50 MORE THAN ADVERTISED! When I mentioned this to the waitress she told me there is nothing she could do as the promotion was for the bar area only. I went back outside to check the banner and this stipulation was mentioned nowhere. The banner was HUGE and had plenty of space left on it to advertise "bar only". 4th time I was with Jess H and friends - I only agreed to go since it was Cinco De Mayo and I was already drunk. I called about specials and they told me $3 Coronas. When I was sat down the waitress told me $3.50. After I drank my first beer I went to the bar and ordered another since my waitress was nowhere to be found....$3...and the bar tender told me it's for the entire place this time not just the bar. The waitress was nowhere to be found after our app was brought out and we had to approach them after waiting 45 minutes for our food. This may not have been so noticeable as we were all bs'ing and in no rush BUT the table next to us had 2 more people came in 20 minutes after us and got their food before us. When we approached our waitress while she was talking to a manager he let her deal with it and just sat there. She said "there was a problem and it would be out soon". The manager never came over to us and we were ignored by the waitress till our food came out. It came out by a runner and our waitress never showed up again until it was check time. We asked her what happened and she said "out ticket was lost". I think she didn't put it in because if they lost our ticket I don't understand how they knew exactly what to make us. The bill came with %50 off but it also only took about 2+ hours out of our night. Jess got a tossed salad but they charged her for a large Cobb salad ($12) minus 50 percent still seemed steep for a tossed salad. I'm done with this place. read more

Took some coworkers here for lunch, food was good nothing special. Pies aren't huge but crust is actually different than normal pizzerias and pretty good. Wait staff did a great job and was on point. Overall doesn't seem like a bad joint to eat at but nothing really unique to make you always want to go there. read more

Robert Irvine needs to go to Sun Tavern- like, now! Between the dated decor and non-existent customer service, I can't see why anyone would keep coming here. I went to Sun Tavern with 5 friends on a Sunday evening around 7. There were plenty of tables available, but we weren't greeted to be seated and watched as several staff members passed right by us. I walked over to the section with a sign that read "Hostess/Cashier" in hopes of getting a table. There, a customer was arguing with a staff member about a pick up order (apparently they got her order wrong and she was being overcharged, surely a fair warning that we should have turned around then and there). We were finally noticed after a few minutes of awkwardly standing there and were seated at a dingy table in the back. We ordered a round of beers for the table and a spinach dip to start. We also gave our entree orders right away, since we were pretty hungry. On an eternal diet, I just asked for a tossed salad and was told that it was just a small side salad, so I asked for a "big toss salad" with croutons and olives- sounds easy, right? The beers and dip came out fairly quickly. However, after another table with more people that arrived atleast 20 minutes after us were already served their food (almost an hour after we got there) we were hungry and confused as to where our food was, with no update from the waitress. My friend and I walked over to the cashier area and asked what was up. The waitress replied that there was "something" going on with our food and that the manager is looking into it. Ummm...what? So why not come to our table like a big girl and tell the customers that their food order WASN'T put in (which is what happened) because we felt abandoned and were a little confused about why the table next to us LEFT after we even got our food. After several more minutes of waiting, our order was brought out by a waitress who was cold as ice. However, the waitress misunderstood my simple order from a tossed salad to a Cobb salad, so I had to have that corrected (I was still billed $12 for a Cobb anyway even though my salad was literally a medium sized bowl of lettuce with a few toppings.) No one seemed too thrilled with the food. I think we were all so hungry at that point that we didn't even care. The manager never came to our table to apologize. Instead the waitress mumbled some awkward excuse about how our order was "lost". I've waitressed before. If I noticed that the kitchen was not making my customer's food, I would say something before an hour passed. We ended up getting 50% off of our bill, but it didn't make a difference for me since I was overcharged for my salad anyway. Never again. read more

This place is perfect. They are known for great pizza, but that doesn't mean you can't order anything off the menu. It's all good. Awesome place to watch the games, and the outdoor bar is really nice in the nice weather. The servers, management and owners all treat the customers like family. Came here for after dinner drinks one midweek evening. I was surprised to see so many people! They finally opened the outdoor seating, so decided to venture out. My assessment of the business: 1. Decoration inside is nice. Reminds me of Charlie brown's restaurants. More like an old library, dark, rich leather room. The other half with the bar seems more like cheers (the show). Outdoors there are two sides. I thought one was smoking and the other was not. It didn't seem to have distinctions. That would be a nice change though. HINT HINT if you are reading. 2. While sitting sipping on our drinks, we smelled a lot of delicious food. So even though we ate, we decided to have some more. It wasn't the best food but they were very good bar food. It complimented beer really well so... nothing to complain. 3. Beer.... their tap beer is significantly watered down. 4. Wait service... there was enough staff but they seemed tired. or unenthusiastic. It was alright but I think our waiter hated us. (hahaha... it's like high school all over again - maybe because our waiter probably was in hs.) If you go... get a bottled beer and pizza. For the price it's alright. Went down hill was good years ago the last time my wife and I were there was back in October we had a meat lovers pizza there was a bone in the pizza my wife almost choked this happens on occasion and the Manager apologized and did not charge us for pizza,went back today order the chicken teriyaki dumplings for an app.and a 5 cheese pizza,the inside of the dumpling were cold and looked raw I ate 1 and my wife had a half of one and realized the were raw.we sent it back and they did not charge us then the 5 cheese pizza came out it was overcooked and was dry as bone disgusting never again ! I like this place in the summer. Their outdoor patio/ bar is adorable. I wouldn't recommend going passed 5p with children (outside patio) because people are drinking after work. They aren't watching their mouths and such because they're drinking. Inside is more private and is perfectly fine for a family dinner. Their pizza is good but the appetizers are even better. This is a nice place to watch the game or to just hang out and have a few drinks and appetizers on the patio. read more

I've been coming to the sun tavern for years as I live very close. It's a gathering place for my friends and I whenever they are in town as well. Great bar pies, sandwiches, dinners, wings, drinks, etc! We especially love their outdoor seating area! Staff is always sweet and friendly, with the occasional bad day as any establishment has! I went for drinks after work on a Friday during Happy Hour. My table ordered two pizza's and a few people got burgers. I only drank some beers, which I was VERY happy with their prices during the happy hour. I was walking around with three beers (two coors lights and a yuengling) for only about $4. From what I saw, the burgers were extremely dry. It didn't look very appetizing. The pizza didn't look that amazing either, but my table seemed content. I have to admit though that if the pizza was that outstanding, my friends would have MADE me have a slice and their wouldn't have been 4 slices just sitting there when we were leaving. The environment was alright. I wouldn't go there any other than their happy hour. The bartenders were also really really slow for the amount of people that were at the bar. read more

I went to Sun Tavern for a happy hour visit with some co-workers last Friday after school. I hadn't been here yet, so I didn't know what to expect, but I'd heard only good things from others. The enviornment isn't anything special -- the usual bar scene. I can't comment about the nightlife aspect, but for happy hour, there was an obvious older crowd, which didn't bother me at all. The one thing I didn't like at all was the service. Extremely slow bartender (2 of them for the huge bar), and it took quite a while between drinks to get another -- definitely a thumbs-down. The food wasn't bad -- we had some pizza, and it didn't BLOW ME AWAY, but it was pretty tasty. I don't know if I would ever go here for a night bar visit, as I can't see it being very fun on my first impression, but for happy hour, it's definitely a good spot to hit up. read more

I have been going to this place for a very long time. I have always been a fan of The Sun Tavern Restaurants. This is the place you go to sit down for a while an enjoy a beer and some really good pizza. They have great selection of beers available, but I would like to see some more being offered than the typical bud, miller garbage. The pizza is probably the best thin style pizza you can get. They have many different type and varieties. Just don't order the Basil pizza whatever you do. It is absolutely gross. read more

Such a shame. I have gone to this place for at minimum 20 yrs. Gradually watched it deteriorate. Please just go for the bar. We... Keep...trying food...OVER AND OVER again...giving benefit of the doubt. It's to the point it's just disgusting. EVERYTHING! It used to be that the pizza was at least always "safe" Whatever is working in the kitchen...I think has never "eaten" food before let alone cooked it. EVERYTHING! is obviously frozen and just completely obliterated during reheating. Please just drink at the bar and fight through the swarms of fruit flies! The staff is excellent though. Whomever is reviewing food positively either had never been there prior to...maybe 3 yrs ago, wasted, or an employee. Worked in F n B service industry for years...People will usually overlook bad service for good food but not vise versa. Think about it. read more

This used to be a good stand by place with pretty good pizza, its local, inexpensive and consistently average food at the last minute. Last night we went there and ordered a Margherita Pizza and a Shrimp Parmesan ,( I know its not fine Italian cuisine, and wasn't expecting it) and they brought me the greasiest, soggiest, 1/2 oven cooked 1/2 microwaved cooked pizza I have ever seen. The waitress must of known the pizza was horrible because not once did she ask my wife or I " how's everything" What a disappointment! Its tired, run down, out dated and so is the food. Picked up food for the first time tonight. Everyone was pretty nice and Place was very crowded parking a little difficult even though they have a pretty large lot. We ordered a few appetizers but mainly were there to pick up and try their pizza. Every time I pick up Pizza I open the box and take out a slice to review. Unfortunately I was so disappointed. Cozy little bar with a great atmosphere. Definitely order one of their pizza's. Margarita pie is my favorite. I also get a plain pie with sliced Meatballs from time to time. Not sure if thats on the menu. The female bartender is miserable every time I go in there. I always try to unsuccessfully cheer her up. The guy bartender is not a very happy camper either! This place is heavily known for it's pizza. Went one night to watch the Devil's game and ordered nachos and wings. Wings were so dry and crackly. Not what you expect for bar wings. The meat on the nachos were SO salty and came with no sour cream. Not sure what the rest of the menu is like, but not memorable enough to make me come back for a sports event when I'm hungry. TVs are on every perimeter wall and around the bar, so you can watch something no matter where you sit. read more

I never do reviews but this place was horrible. The waitress we had an attitude.There suppose to be known for the "best pizza" that's a Huge LIE. It was wet and soggy. Tuesday has great drink specials. I enjoy the pizza a lot, and most of their food, but I've been the most disappointed in their "Italian" dishes. Pizza is the same frozen pizza they always used, but the service has been getting bad lately. Waitress manager owners are rude to non customers or have been over heard talking about customers within the hostess booth. Do not go!!! Service must improve first... ashame. I heard from my family that this place had good pizza, and we're Italian so I expected it to be good. We went for my dad's birthday and though the food was pretty good, the service was pretttttty bad. We wanted outdoor seating and they said it was closed, though there were a few people out there and plenty of room. There were very few people inside, but it took us waaaay too long to get our pizza. The waitress was nice, but she didn't come by too often. The house salad with the shrimp was nasty, the shrimp were the little baby shrimp and tasted old. A lot of them still had their poop/guts (?), which is pretty revolting. The pizza was really good, but after waiting for so long and seeing a plate of dirty shrimp, I kind of lost my appetite. read more

One of my favorite spots. The staff in the dining area is always wonderful. It's one of my go-to spots in this area. All of the bar pies are fantastic and cheap. I love their beer list. Have the disco fries and French dip, the au jus is fantastic. read more

Food is great, the bar service is usually quick and friendly. The table service just outside the bar was a little slow yet friendly.

I've been going to this place for close to two years and while I can't speak for what it was, I can say it is great. You can't beat the drink prices. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. The food, while it is bar food, is great. I have had a large number of their pizzas, nachos, jalapeño poppers, chicken fingers, salads, and sandwiches. My favorite pizza is the clam pizza!!! It has the old world base with clams on the top. It was extremely flavorful. They also don't advertise quesadillas on the menu unless it's in appetizer platter, which I found odd, but they made me an order a few weeks ago and it was delicious.
