I've been here 4 times already. I love this place. The drinks are so refreshing. The prices are slightly higher, but they include the price of the boba and other toppings that come with the drink. So far, the watermelon is really good, especially on a hot day. It tastes like real watermelon (not the artificial kind!), and has jellies at the bottom, and what seems like pieces of chewy watermelon balls? I'm not sure what it is, but it's great. It's topped with cheese foam. The avocado smoothie is sadly in a smaller size. But it's creamy and light. If you haven't had an avocado smoothie before, it's worth a try! It tastes like avocado, but light and sweet. The mango smoothie was very tasty too, as is the tropical one. Decided to treat myself to a self-care Saturday in Kakaako. After getting my nails done at Kakaako Nails while waiting for my boyfriend to pick me up I decided to try out one of the newest boba shops in town, Sun Tea Mix! On a Saturday afternoon, the shop wasn't too crowded which made for great social distancing! With plenty of options to choose from my indecisive self of course, took forever to decide what to order but like a creature of habit of course, I ended up going with a plain milk tea with brown sugar boba. Overall the taste was great, creamy with a subtle earthy taste from the tea. Sweet but not over powering, and the boba was perfect--cooked to chewy perfection! The interior of Sun Tea was so cute and chic, just like Kakaako! Everything matched to a grey/silver color with plenty of sunshine coming through the windows. They have a few tables and chairs outside of the biz to sit on as well. Sun Tea Mix definitely seems like a cute place to hang out at (if we weren't in a pandemic I'm pretty sure I could spend all day studying or getting some work done here). read more

I was okay with it until I have to wait almost 1hr to actually get it. I ordered a drink as well when I got to the store and had to wait another 15-20 mins for it. Personally in my top five milk tea spots on the island. I've been here multiple times and my favorite drink is the Strawberry Lime tea at 50% sweetness. Today I tried something new and got a classic new tea with 25% and boba. It was SO good with a nice creamy taste, strong tea flavor and just the right sweetness and texture. The boba was perfect (it had a good bite all the way through) as it was not too squishy or hard. I could probably eat and entire bowl of boba (not an exaggeration) because it was THAT good! Service was quick and very pleasant. All the workers were respectful and they even brought out my drink to me (it was not busy). Finally got to try the souffle pancake, we picked strawberry. Didn't know what the fuss was about I just thought the pictures looked really cute. But now I know why people eat this stuff. We ate ours after our lunch at home, so it didn't look as pretty when we first got it. That didn't diminish the taste though. It was light and fluffy and with the strawberry topping it was a nice dessert to finish off lunch. Hubs also got the oreo snow cap milk tea at 100% sweetness and he drank it all. I got the matcha latte at 50% sweetness, which for me was still a little sweet for me, maybe I'll get 25% next time. The matcha wasn't too overpowering either. We want to try the creme brulee souffle pancake next time, it looked real tasty as we watched the staff preparing one and using the torch to burn the sugar. read more

The Phoenix Oolong Tea is great! Although I got 25% sugar it was still a little too sweet for me. The compostable cup it came in was not compatible with the lid because it broke and I spilled a little. My sister said the Mango smoothie did not taste very good and was diluted. read more

These are the best pancakes that I have ever had! I reccomend you order online. These pancakes are made from scratch and I promise you they will change your life. They are the best I have ever had so light and fluffy and the sauce they put on top it's hard to describe except as delicious. My family and I landed on the mango and strawberry soufflé pancakes. They were delicious so good in fact we were giving looks to one another:) saying do not touch my pancakes.! These are not to be shared as they are delicious!!! The only reason I'm dinging them a star is because as they do make stuff from scratch it does take a little longer to get out to the customer. However they do recommend that you order online. Also the store for whatever reason isn't open to sit down for dining in it's pretty spread out so I'm not sure how come they're not attempting to do social distancing. Came here for the first time today and I'm so glad I tried it out. I got the mango charm smoothie and it was so good! There were chunks of mango, tapioca and grapefruit slices and it all went so well together. The smoothie was super creamy and had great mango flavor. The line went by quick and everything was so clean inside. They give parking validation for the SALT parking garage, so you can enjoy a treat without worrying about parking. I'm disappointed that the fruit teas actually have syrup and the fruit you see is added just for show. Because of that, I sometimes order from other tea spots despite living like right across the street from this shop. The only fruit drinks they have that are 100% made from real fruit are the watermelon and honeydew. Seems like their watermelon smoothie is pretty popular. I like to get that without the jellies and sub for boba. The cheese foam that comes with it is delicious. Their drinks are about $7 while other boba shops run around the $5 range. If I get 2 drinks delivered from another shop, it ends up evening out in price even with delivery fee and tip! Customer service is nice. Sometimes there's a language barrier depending on who's working, but it's whatever. I haven't tried their jiggly Japanese souflés but will definitely try at some point. It looks delicious. read more

**Sun Tea Mix is scheduled to reopen on April 30th in light of the COVID-19 situation. I visited on 3/28/2020, the day before they closed. At that time they were only doing take out orders** So, I've had my eye on this spot for awhile. I first spotted it a few weeks ago when I was walking around Kakaako with a friend. We went inside but at that time, they only took cash. I followed them on IG and went on with my day. When the COVID-19 situation started to get serious, I knew I had to stop by because I wouldnt be back to Hawaii till August for the new school year. STM is only a 15 minute walk from my dorm. The inside is very clean and classic. It's so pretty inside and I can see myself working on school work while sipping on a drink and munching on a souffle pancake. The workers were all very kind and were patient. I wanted to try so many items but I settled on the: strawberry smoothie with cheese foam and the creme brulee souffle pancake. Strawberry Smoothie w/ Cheese foam: I LOVE cheese foam. I think it adds such a nice twist. In case you have never had cheese foam, cheese foam is basically a thick yet light cream cheese. It adds a nice saltiness to sweet drink. The strawberry smoothie is very refreshing and pretty sweet. The cheese foam balances the sweetness. If you've ever eaten strawberries with some sugar sprinkled on it, it tastes like that. Creme brulee souffle pancake: This is definitely the eye catching item on their menu. Theres only one other establishment that sells souffle pancakes on the island. I havent been there yet and I have ever had a souffle pancake before but it well exceeded my expectation. I loved that could see them cook it. After watching all of those videos from Japan, it was awesome to see it in person. The have a couple of options but the creme brulee sounded the best to me. The worker saw that I was taking videos of the process so before she put the lid over my container, she let me take a photo of it . Since I walked home, most of the syrup melted off and the pancake "deflated". But! It was still super yummy and soft. I cant wait to come back in August and come here with my friends so we can chat and try more options when hopefully the COVID-19 situation is all over. read more

This place is amazing! Although dine-in is not yet permitted, interior decor are simply elegant! The furnitures are so inviting that sitting outside is enough to admire and very relaxing. The place is very clean and organize. This place have friendly and accommodating staff as well! They were very patient to explain each flavor that we inquired about since it is our first time coming here. They were all wearing their masks but sound very pleasant that we can almost see their smile. Prices are very reasonable and very worth it! I recommend this place with full 5 stars! I have yet to try their soufflé pancakes, so maybe I'll have to update my review if/when I ever try them. I'm always on the lookout for new tea places to try (although my fave spot hasn't changed in years) so I had to give Sun Tea Mix a try when they popped up on Instagram. Although you can order online via their website, it wanted me to sign up to make an account so I opted to do a phone order instead. I ordered a strawberry blueberry smoothie with azuki and a lilikoi pineapple tea with crystal jelly. Unfortunately they didn't ask and I forgot to mention my sweetness level. I didn't worry too much about it as other reviews mentioned that it wasn't too sweet. OMG was I wrong. The strawberry blueberry smoothie didn't have azuki.. and I didn't notice till I got back to the car. I'm still not sure if they charged me for it because I wasn't given an itemized receipt. I also have to mention now that this place is expensive.. even if I LOVED my drink, I don't think it could become a new regular for me because of the price. Toppings are $0.85 and up, when most places charge $0.50 and up. Our 2 drinks came out to nearly $14. Back to sweetness, I have more of a sweet tooth than my boyfriend but yikes both drinks tasted like liquid diabetes. We ended up reblending the smoothie with more ice to dilute the sweetness (changing the flavor due to the cheese foam being blended in) and adding water to my tea (I didn't taste the tea in it to begin with). I may return but only to try the soufflé pancakes if anything... but we shall see. If you do go, unless you have a crazy sweet tooth, I would highly suggest lowering the sweetness level. If memory serves me right, the website also didn't ask about sweetness level- only what toppings you want but I stopped when it came to the signing up part. read more

Great boba! Whenever I go to a new boba store, I always tend to rate my experience higher if the boba is good. And the boba was great! My sister had the Brown Sugar Boba Milk with cheese foam - and the boba was the perfect consistency; not hard, just soft and chewy. I wanted something different so I had the Mango Smoogurt, which had small chunks of mango in the smoothie, vanilla yogurt, and some other kind of jelly. And it was soooo yummy! You can also adjust the sweetness and I chose 50% - which was the perfect amount of sweetness for me. I'm interested in trying their other drinks next time. The drinks were a little more pricey than your average boba tea place, but it is Kakaako. Anyways, it is a great place to grab some refreshing drinks on a summer afternoon. Got the mango smoogurt after shopping at Hmart. It's kind of pricey, like over $7 with boba if I remember correctly. Regardless, it's pretty big and has a lot in it. I didn't know what to expect, and I thought it would be blended but, as you can see in the picture, its a layer of pureed mango under a layer of something like kanten under a layer of sweet yogurt under what I think was mango smoothie. I wasn't really sure how to drink this, so I kind of went layer by layer with my straw, trying everything separately, then took my straw out and stuck in in the bottom, getting a little bit of each layer sequentially in each sip. After finishing about how of it i mixed it and sipped out of the hole in the lid. This was delicious. Not to sweet since the different layer balanced each other out, and with a good mix of tangy yogurt, sweet mango, and a mix of textures from the jelly, sort of pulpy mango, and creamy and icey other two layers. If you want to treat yourself without drinking something too heavy, this is worth a try. read more

So tried sun tea mix twice and personally it's not bad but I havent found a drink that's my favorite. I have tried the mango charm, mango smogurt, mango smoothie, and fruit greentea. I also tried 3 types of pancakes. Strawberry, original, and creme brulee. For the drinks, all the mango drinks taste different. -Mango smogurt is a mix of mango and a vanilla yogurt with many toppings. Personally not my taste, not a huge fan of that yogurt. -mango charm has a large amount of toppings, it's like a yakult drink with grapefruit in it. -mango smoothie was probably the best out of the 3. Again had lot of toppings and I think had cheese foam. -fruit green tea is kind of just as it is. Tea with multiple fruits in it including watermelon, oranges, strawberry and etc. As for souffle pancakes, heads up but they said it takes 20 mins which would be better to know beforehand so we couldve came back. We only overheard them telling a customer after we waited for a while. As for the pancakes, they were really cute and filling however, extremely sweet because of the syrup. Even original had a but too much syrup. The wait is understandable cause they make it fresh but better to know beforehand. Overall, I think the place is really nice, the space is pretty. I'm so sad that Sun Tea Mix had to open while coronavirus was just starting to kick up. It's such a cute tea shop, and hits all of the marks for me. The interior has a classy, bright-white theme throughout. It's like one of the nice showrooms in ikea that you wish could be your dining room area. Under normal circumstances, youd probably see me getting some work done on my laptop in the seating area. Not only that, but the teas and drinks they offer are really good! It tasted really fresh and aromatic. Really seemed to be high quality tea. Really enjoyed the oolong that I got, but you'll have to specify with them what level of sweetness you want or else they'll put the default amount. I was also lucky enough to get complimentary soufflé pancakes from the staff there during my visit. I've had a couple of soufflé pancakes in the past, but have generally been unimpressed with them because they have a slight burnt taste to them.... but sun tea mix does a wonderful job with theirs. It's soft and fluffy, and it feels like you're eating a cloud or yummy pancake carbs. What's nice is that you can see them making the pancakes through the glass, and you can tell that they take their time with the process and focus on good quality. My goodness this place is an instagram person's dream lol! It is so aesthetically pleasing for sure. My husband and I tried the mango smoothie with cheese foam, peach Oolong milk tea and the brown sugar boba soufflé. So full disclosure, we didn't really know how to drink the mango smoothie with cheese foam haha. When I seen others drink similar items on YouTube, it had a special lid which allowed the foam and drink to flow through at the same time. This one had a straw so we tried each layer (the cheese layer was very intense on its own) and then ended up mixing it all together. It was very good mixed so hopefully it was supposed to be enjoyed that way. It tasted like a light mango cheesecake in drink form. The milk tea was very light and refreshing but I didn't care for the nuts that was on the whipped cream, it tasted stale when it hit the drink like it was soggy. I would order that drink again minus the nuts. Now to the item I was most excited about, the soufflé! I have always wanted to try it and was not disappointed. It was as soft and fluffy as I thought it would be. The soufflé itself isn't very sweet which is balanced by the brown sugar boba topping. A very cute, minimalist design which makes for a great study location for all those in the area. They even have free WiFi. I tried their blueberry and strawberry smoothie with cheese foam.
